Faux Steampunk, A Blank Page Muse Post

Hello! I am at the Blank Page Muse Blog with this card. This month, the DT is doing a steampunk theme. I don't have any steampunk items in my craft stash. After searching the web on how to steampunk a non-steampunk, I hope I was able to get close enough with this card.

The stamp I used on this card is the Blank Page Muse You Make Me Happy Clear Stamp Set.

Please visit the blog for card details.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Plaid Greeting Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's card uses products from Kat Scrappiness. I got my inspiration after joining an IG Hop for another company's products release. I would like to thank @larissaheskettdesigns for the colors and card design inspiration. I like her work so much that I created my own version of it.

I die cut a red shiny textured cardstock using the KS Buffalo Plaid Background craft die. I kept the red square drop outs which I used later. A tip for a successful one pass cut using this die is to add a metal shim to your cutting plate sandwich. It works each time for me.

I measured the width of the two columns of the plaid and use this measurements to trim a blue cardstock. I was initially going to adhere this cardstock over the two rows of the plaid background but changed my mind. I placed it behind the plaid cover die cut. To add some depth and detail to this piece, I embossed the plaid pattern to this panel. To use your metal die cuts for embossing, add a silicone mat underneath the cardstock when you layer your die cut sandwich. This pushes the metal die to the paper, thus, transferring the design to the paper. You have to play with your die cutting machine to know what plates are needed to get this effect without ruining your machine and your paper.

I adhered this to the back of the plaid cover die cut, aligning the embossed design with the opening of the plaid die cut. It is hard to see in the photos but the embossed design added a pillow effect on the openings.

I adhered the red square negative die cuts to the back of the vented portion of the plaid die cut.

I adhered a white cardstock to the back of the open columns. I pieced in white square negative cuts to the open areas. I used this cover die a lot that I accumulated a lot of these square negative cuts.

I stamped some of the images from the KS Wok On stamp set to a smooth watercolor paper. I used Karin markers to color the images. I added details to the images using a white gel pen and white enamel glue to the eyes. I fussy cut the images. I arranged the images on the panel, mostly placing it on the blue area of the plaid panel. I adhered the images with foam tape for some dimension.

I prepped a piece of white cardstock with an anti-static tool. I stamped the sentiment to this piece using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I poured black embossing powder to it and heat set it. I created this into a strip using a sentiment die. I adhered this sentiment strip to the same blue cardstock I used on the panel. I used a craft knife to gently cut the blue cardstock creating a matte around the white sentiment strip. I adhered this to the panel.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Ink Smooshing With Acetate

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. The month of July is almost over. I am thankful for this month for a lot of reasons. One of which is I became a part of the Altenew's July Release Blog Hop. Some of my cards are featured on Altenew's shop, online catalogue and social media sites. It is such an honor.

Today's card features products from this month's release which are currently out of stock. Just click the 'notify me' button at the Altenew website to be informed once these products are back in stock if you are interested in purchasing it.

The colors I used are inspired by this month's Altenew Inspiration Challenge.

I stamped the flower from the Altenew Build-A-Garden Sulfur Cosmos stamp set to a watercolor cardstock. I stamped it twice to fill a 6" x 4 1/2" panel. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink for the stamping. I dried the ink using a heat gun before doing the ink smooshing.

I am using Karin markers for coloring. I used the Neon Yellow, Neon Yellow-Orange and Neon Pink. I applied the pigment to a palette and spritz it with water to dilute the ink. Using a flat brush, I applied water to the stamped panel. This will help mute the color. I picked the ink using a scrap piece of acetate. I transferred the color to the stamped panel by pouncing the acetate to the stamped panel. I heat set in between inking to dry the ink. I repeated this process until I am happy with the coloring of the panel. There are a lot of advantages in using this technique. You can select which area of your project to pounce the ink on. You can also create new colors when the two colors of ink mix while it is still wet. And you can intensify the color by pouncing the acetate with the ink on an area again.

I have a stash of watercolor paper strips from cutting the watercolor paper to 8 1/2" x 11" since most watercolor papers come in 9" x 12". To make use of these watercolor paper strips, I colored a row of sentiments on the debossed side of the Altenew Raised Sentiments 3D Embossing Folder. I used the same colors I used on the smooshed panel. I positioned the watercolor paper strip over this inked portion of the embossing folder, then run it through my Sizzix Big Shot machine. With this technique, the color from the embossing folder transferred to the strip while giving an embossed impression on the paper strip as well. The embossed letters remained white in color.

The ink on the embossing folder can be wiped off with a baby wipe or with a Hero Arts Ultra Clean Spray if the ink won't come off with the baby wipe.

I trimmed the strips narrower using a craft knife to make it into quarter inch sentiment strips.

I cut the floral panel at 1 3/4". I built the panel by adhering the sentiment strip on a paper cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". You can adhere the strips straight onto a notecard but I like doing it on scrap paper first.

I adhered this strip to the top most edge of the paper. I adhered the floral strip next, then repeated the process until the paper is covered with the sentiment strips and the floral panels. I trimmed off any excess.

I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you like today's project. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Rainbow Colored Block Letters Greeting Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created this card to join in the latest Hero Arts Blog Challenge. I heat embossed the letters on a black watercolor cardstock using Wow! White Pearl embossing powder. The Hero Arts products I used on this card are from my stash and are, unfortunately, all retired. I am sure there is something in your craft stash that you can use as substitute to re-create this card.

Using the stencil, I drew the wonky shaped squares around each letter, some of which I have to extend vertically to accommodate the height of the letter. I also extended the width of the squares so the squares will be touching each other. I used the Karin pigment markers to add color to each letter block.

I colored the inside of the letter with a black Wink of Stella shimmer pen. I outlined each block with a black Sakura Glaze marker.

For the other half of the sentiment, I masked a stamp so I will only stamp the word brightly below the letter blocks. I heat embossed this word using the same embossing powder.

I stamped the stars using the Delicata White Shimmer pigment ink and the Avery Elle Silver Fox pigment ink. I brushed the Ranger Perfect Pearls in Perfect Pearl for some shimmer.

I trimmed this panel smaller. I adhered this to a partially embossed rainbow mirrored cardstock. The mirrored cardstock is from Simon Says Stamp.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for viewing my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Autumn Inspired Slimline Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge theme for this month is Autumn Harvest and/or Houses. Our sponsor for this challenge is Alex Syberia Design. I linked the image I used on this card below.

I printed the image on heavyweight white cardstock. I colored the image using several mediums (Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, Zig Clean Color Waterbrush and Karin markers.) Since I am not using a watercolor paper, I am doing a dry watercolor technique. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. I added Tim Holtz Antique Linen watercolor crayon to the white spaces to mute the stark white.

I trimmed a Hero Arts Plum cardstock at 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" for the front panel. I added the embossed frame with the use of a mat. The slimline frame die is from the Trinity Stamps Frame and Fold die.

The layout is inspired by the sketch below from Scrapbook & Cards. I die cut patterned papers from Echo Park Fall Fever 6x6 paper pad using one of the rectangles from the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangle dies. I picked some ephemera from the same line and from the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor. I played around with the elements that will complete my layout until I am satisfied with how it looks. I inked the edges of the rectangle patterned paper die cuts using an ink that matches the color of the patterned paper. I inked the hexagonal ephemera too.

I adhered the rectangle patterned paper die cuts to the plum panel, then adhered the ephemera, adding some metallic embellishments. I heat embossed a postage stamp from the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor stamp set to the right lower rectangle patterned paper. I used a Ranger Copper embossing powder for this.

I die cut the sentiment on the colored digital image. I heat embossed the sub-sentiment using a brown dye ink and clear embossing powder. I adhered a copper glittered paper to the back of the colored digital image which shows through the holes created by the sentiment die. I adhered this to the panel using foam adhesive.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you join our latest challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Watercolor Pine Tree Christmas Tag

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I am playing with my Karin markers today to give the March's #KarinColors a try. Karin Markers have an IG monthly challenge which I linked below.

I know that some markers can be be used to color directly to the stamp. I gave this technique a try with Karin Markers, and I am truly amazed by the effect! I used it on a layering stamp, which I have difficulties before. Not anymore! I love the organic look created using the Karin Markers on this layering stamp.

I am using a watercolor paper. I positioned my stamp to it using the Misti Stamping Tool. I applied the darkest color to the first stamp layer. After I've colored the whole stamp, I spritz some water to it. I wiped the excess water off the Misti Door. I pressed the stamp to the watercolor paper. I dried the impression with a heat tool. I re-positioned the paper on the Misti. I spritz water to the left-over ink on the stamp and re-stamped the image. I repeated the process another time. If you have any areas that need more color, just color that part of the stamp and repeat the process. I did this to all layers. The stamp set, which is from Hero Arts, has 4 pine tree layers.

Isn't the textured effect amazing? I did the same technique on the tree turnk and the sentiment.

I die cut the panel into a tag. I blended Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink to the background to give it a vintage look.

I added a DMC Diamant Metallic thread to the top of the tag. I adhered a Trinity Gold Bauble to the center of the bow.

I truly had fun creating this tag. I can't wait to try these markers on my other layering stamps or solid stamps.

I also added below the link to the Trinity Stamp Gold Bauble I used on this card. There will be no additional cost to you should you decide to purchase this product. While you are at the Trinity Stamps website, check out their amazing products including their newly released products.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Mood Board Inspired Nativity Greeting Card (Craft My Stash #21)

Hello! Welcome back to my blog and to another Craft My Stash post. For today, I am using an Authentique 6x6 Faith Collection paper pad and a Honey Bee Christ Is Born stamp set from my craft stash.

I did a no-line coloring on the images. It has been a while since I did this technique. I am using Karin markers for the coloring. I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink. I applied a light wash of color to the image before applying another layer of colors. When I use Karin markers, I usually pick the pigment from the palette so I have more control on the blending. I fussy cut the image, cutting the image right at its edge.

For the background, I concentrated on inking the house first using a black ink. I stamped this on one of the patterned papers on the pad. A Misti Stamping Tool is truly helpful when doing selective stamping. I stamped the buildings on the background using a dark brown dye ink. Using mini-cube inks work when you just want to ink a certain portion of a stamp.  I added Versamark ink to the stars and heat embossed this with white embossing powder. The bright star and rays were embossed using Wow! Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder.

I blended Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs Distress ink to the panel. I wiped off the ink from the embossed stars and rays.

For the ground, I selectively inked that area on the stamp. I stamped this on another patterned paper. I blended a Tim Holltz Distress Ground Expresso Ink on this. I fussy cut the ground.

For the panel. I die cut another patterned paper from the pad using a stitched rectangle die. I like this patterned paper because it reminds me of the stained-glass windows in the church.

I partially die cut the inked panel with an oval die. I trimmed the bottom part straight. This creates an arched panel.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed this on another patterned paper from the pack. The stamp is from Honey Bee Christmas Blessings stamp set. I used the same embossing powder. I trimmed the sentiment to size. I adhered this to a scrap piece of cardstock for some dimension. I trimmed off the excess.

I adhered the arched blended panel to the stitched panel. I glued the ground by lining it up with the lines on the bottom of the house. I adhered the sentiment on the bottom. I adhered the image with foam tape.

I also got my inspiration in creating this from the Scrapbook & Cards Winter Issue Mood Board Challenge. You can see the mood board below. I was inspired by the wooden theme that I created a wood inspired nativity scene.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Color Inspired Greeting Card (New To My Stash #20)

Hello! Welcome back to my blog, and to another post for my New To My Stash Blog Series. It has been months since my last post on this series. I am glad to continue on.

I am using the Newton's Nook Designs Flower Garden stamp set. I got my card inspiration from the latest Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Color Challenge.

I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I heat set this to speed up the drying time. I colored the image using Karin markers. I applied the pigment on a palette and picked it up with a wet brush. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. I colored the image following the color inspiration of the challenge.

For the background, I blended Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn Distress ink on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Neenah Solar White cardstock. I heat set this to dry. I stamped the flower from the stamp set on this panel using Versamark ink. I heat embossed this using Wow! Jealous Guy embossing powder.

Using an oval die as a guide, I curved the sentiment stamp so I can create a frame for the image. The sentiment is from NND Birthday Roundabout stamp set. I heat embossed this using Ranger Copper embossing powder.

I bleached the petals of the flowers on the background by applying water to the petals then picking it up with dry paper towel. I applied a light wash of red to these petals. For the flower centers, I applied a dot of a light green Sakura Souffle pen.

I die cut oval shapes on a brown metallic vellum and a red cardstock. I embossed this with dots using the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Dots stencil. Yes, you can emboss with a stencil as long as you use an embossing mat. Depending on your machine, just build enough shims to achieve the right pressure to create the embossed impression.

I adhered these inside the oval frame, centering it. I adhered the image using foam tape.

I trimmed a sliver off the edges. I matted this colored panel on a light green cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Rainbow Colored Greeting Card

Hello! I created this card with the Karin Markers July Colors as inspiration. I am using a Strathmore Watercolor paper cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I used the grid lines on my magnetic mat to create the triangles, putting a tick mark on the edges of the paper.

I did one color at a time. I applied painter's tape from one tick mark to the other. I applied the pigment heavily on the wide base of the triangle. I spread this pigment using a wet brush. Don't make it too wet to avoid bleeding. You can see this on the yellow and green area of my front panel. Also, re-use the painter's tape for the same color only. Sometimes, the pigment stays on the painter's tape. Introducing a new color ends up with the mixture of the new color and the color on the painter's tape. Another tip in creating a design like this is make sure the tape is adhered really well. This keeps the water and the pigment where you want it.

If you noticed, there are bubbles on the colored panel. I lifted off the Karin pigment with the use of a wet brush and a paper towel. I am using the Trinity Stamps Tree Of Lights Stencil to add the water lifted dots on each painted triangle to create a bokeh effect. Who said that we can only used these stencils for Christmas, right? I did the color lifting after painting each triangular segment which I dried with a heat gun before doing the color lifting. I also heat dried this after I did the color lifting. In this process, do not over saturate the area to prevent the water from seeping under the stencil. Taping the stencil over the colored panel is very helpful. This allows you to hold the wet brush with one hand and a paper towel for dabbing with the other.

I stamped the sentiment from the TS So Appreciative 4x6 stamp set on a Grafix Dura-Bright black film. I prepped the area first with anti-static tool. I stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink. I embossed this with white embossing powder. I painted the insides of the letters with a mixed red Karin and a white pearl Finetec paint. I set this aside to dry.

I die cut the watercolored panel with the coordinating die from the TS So Appreciative Coordinating die set. I adhered the black embossed panel on the back of the colored panel, lining up the sentiment so that it shows through the open window.

The stamp set came with a dashed line stamp which I used in between the triangles for a faux stitched look.

I added the links above to the Trinity Stamp products I used on this card which I highlighted for your convenience. There is no additional cost to you should you decide to purchase any of these products. Thank you for your support. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Tie Dye Birthday Card Using Karin Markers

Hello! It was my second son's birthday yesterday who turned 16 years old. I got my inspiration for this card from Karin Marker's Colors Of The Month in IG which includes Neon Yellow, Neon Orange and Neon Orange Red. Can you believe that I used the same colored markers on both cards? I actually die. Unbelievable, right?

My first version of the card was created using Grafix Dura-Bright Black Film Pad. I cut this at 4 1/2" x 6". I am linking a video tutorial that was very helpful to me in drawing my own tie dye pattern (https://youtu.be/IASfGvD7mBo). As seen on the image, despite using this months color palette, it has a totally different effect on this type of paper. I dried my created pattern with a heat tool. I stamped the sentiment on the center of the tie dye pattern using a white pigment ink. I embossed this with clear embossing powder. Just to warn you that despite giving this panel a good zapping of the heat tool, there are areas that remained sticky, thus, attracting the embossing powder. Good thing I used a clear embossing powder. The sentiment stamp is from Avery Elle.

I enjoyed creating the first card that I went ahead and created a version of this card using Tim Holtz Yupo paper. This card shows the true hue of the colors I used. I used black pigment ink this time for the sentiment with clear embossing powder.

I die cut the tie dye panels into 4" x 5 1/4". I adhered the black panel to a brown cardstock before adhering this to a top folding A2 notecard. I adhered the white version on a black A2 note card. I added a white cardstock on the inside of the card to serve as a place to write your sentiment.

Which version of the card do you like the most? Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Coffee Mini-Card (New Craft Stash #14)

Hello! Welcome back to my New Craft Stash series. For this post, the new products I am featuring are the Trinity Stamps Crafty Post 3x4 Stamp & Postcard Die Bundle, and the Van Gogh Black Watercolor Cold Press 140 lb. paper pad.

I trimmed the black watercolor paper into 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I stamped the coffee cup image from Simon Says Stamp Simply Brewing using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Antique Linen. I painted the coffee cup with Coliro Pearl Watercolor Deep Space. The rim of the coffee cup was colored with Karin DecoBrush Blue Metallic marker. I colored the coffee with Karin Decobrush Red Gold and Copper Metallic markers.

I stamped the trim on the base of the coffee cup. The stamp is from the same SSS stamp set. I applied Finetec light gold pear watercolor directly to the stamp. Using the Misti, I stamped the image to the coffee cup to create an impression. It does not really look good compared to stamping using a stamp pad. But this impression will guide me where to paint. I added dots to the coffee cup using the same light gold paint.

I stamped the speech bubble from the same stamp set on the panel using the same technique of applying watercolor directly to the stamp. I am using Finetec pearl white gold watercolor. My chosen sentiment, which is from Paper Smooches,  is longer than the speech bubble. I simply extended the length of the speech bubble to accommodate the length of the sentiment.

I heat embossed the sentiment using Versafine Onxy Black ink and black embossing powder.

I die cut this panel using the postage die from Trinity Stamps. This die creates a frame with a postage edge. I die cut a light brown cardstock to create the frame.

Using the 3 x 4 rectangular die from the Trinity set, I partially die cut a Hero Arts black notecard. I adhered the frame and the panel. I added a Nuvo heart gemstone on the middle of the coffee cup.

I am so excited to finally have a black watercolor paper. The watercolor paper is 140 lb. so it withstood my frequent application of watercolor paint to make the pearlized colors vibrant.

Although I did not use the stamps of the Trinity product, I like the size of the frame and panel dies. I can use these to create ATC with a postage frame element.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
