Autumn Inspired Slimline Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge theme for this month is Autumn Harvest and/or Houses. Our sponsor for this challenge is Alex Syberia Design. I linked the image I used on this card below.

I printed the image on heavyweight white cardstock. I colored the image using several mediums (Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, Zig Clean Color Waterbrush and Karin markers.) Since I am not using a watercolor paper, I am doing a dry watercolor technique. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. I added Tim Holtz Antique Linen watercolor crayon to the white spaces to mute the stark white. 

I trimmed a Hero Arts Plum cardstock at 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" for the front panel. I added the embossed frame with the use of a mat. The slimline frame die is from the Trinity Stamps Frame and Fold die. 

The layout is inspired by the sketch below from Scrapbook & Cards. I die cut patterned papers from Echo Park Fall Fever 6x6 paper pad using one of the rectangles from the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangle dies. I picked some ephemera from the same line and from the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor. I played around with the elements that will complete my layout until I am satisfied with how it looks. I inked the edges of the rectangle patterned paper die cuts using an ink that matches the color of the patterned paper. I inked the hexagonal ephemera too.

I adhered the rectangle patterned paper die cuts to the plum panel, then adhered the ephemera, adding some metallic embellishments. I heat embossed a postage stamp from the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor stamp set to the right lower rectangle patterned paper. I used a Ranger Copper embossing powder for this.

I die cut the sentiment on the colored digital image. I heat embossed the sub-sentiment using a brown dye ink and clear embossing powder. I adhered a copper glittered paper to the back of the colored digital image which shows through the holes created by the sentiment die. I adhered this to the panel using foam adhesive.

Hot Cocoa Inspired Winter Card (Craft My Stash #8)

Hello! I am featuring the Echo Park's Feelin' Cozy, a patterned paper pack that I have in my stash for a while now. The thing I love about paper packs is the ease in putting a project together since most of its contents coordinate with each other. 

I die cut a red and blue patterned paper using a Simon Says' Stamp heart cup die. This die is a part of a monthly card kit. I needed one of the cup's handle on the opposite direction. To achieve this, I die cut the cup with the die on the wrong side of the blue patterned paper. I also die cut the wrong side of the red patterned paper to die cut the heart on the center of the cup. I die cut an extra heart on the blue patterned paper. I inked the edges of the cups with the same colored ink as the cup.

I attached a tape on the back of the cup and pieced in the heart. I adhered the extra heart die cuts, with the blue heart on the red cup, and the red heart on the blue cup.

I created marshmallows using a die from My Favorite Things Mason Jar Mug die set. It is actually a die to create ice cubes but it also worked in creating marshmallows. I inked the edges of the marshmallow with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Vintage Photo so it will appear toasted-like. I also die cut a straw out of red striped patterned paper using the straw die from the same MFT die set. I arranged this through the cup opening the cup die created. I secured this by taping it on the back.

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" light blue patterned paper from the paper pack. I spritz this with pearlized water and heat set this to dry. 

I die cut a scallop frame using SSS This Is The Life Frames die set on a blue cardstock. I gently blended Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink. I die cut several more scalloped frames using white cardstock. I trimmed an acetate and adhered this to the back of the blue scalloped frame. I adhered the white scalloped frame on top of each other. I adhered this to the pearlized patterned paper panel. I brushed the edges of the panel with an anti-static powder tool. I also rubbed a the acetate with a used dryer sheet to decrease the static. I poured various snowflake sequins to this well. When there was enough sequins, I sealed the well with the blue scalloped frame with the acetate. I set this aside to dry.

For the sentiment, I am using one of the cut-apart patterned paper. Using a craft knife, I separated each sentiment line from each other. I created fishtail ends on one of the sentiment strips. I adhered this to the acetate with the help of a T-square ruler to keep the sentiment strips straight.

I adhered the cups with foam tape. I added Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops on the hearts and set this aside to dry.

I was planning to personalize this for a friend and her husband who will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary next week. I will put a personalized greeting in the inside of the card.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge~Sparkle And Shine

No Line Coloring Using Color Pencils

It is a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog.  We are giving tribute to the color of the year, Ultraviolet. 

My creation today is inspired by Yana Smakula’s post on No Line Petunias Pencil Coloring.  I gave the technique a try.  One of our sponsors for our challenge is Mari Ko.  I printed the image on gray cardstock, scaling it to cover a 5 ½” x 4 ¼” notecard.  I colored the image with Prismacolor color pencils. I created a negative mask for the shaped label which comes with the image. I blended Tim Holtz Distress ink in Dusty Concord. For the background, I temporarily adhered an Echo Park stencil over the printed/colored panel. Using a ClarityStamp stencil brush, and the same distress ink color, I brushed the ink over the stencil creating a subtle colored background. I die cut the sentiment using Avery Elle You die on a black cardstock. I created a sentiment strip by heat embossing a Hero Arts stamp on black cardstock strip using white embossing powder. I die cut a white fun foam using the You die, and adhered it to the back of the black die cut. I also adhered strips of fun foam to the back of the sentiment strip.

I really like stitched dies. I die cut the colored panel using the largest Simon Says Stitched Rectangle die. But even if it is the largest die, the positive die cut is smaller than an A2 sized panel. Good thing, I was able to center the rectangle die over the colored panel, so I ended having an equally cut stitched border. I blended ink to this border carefully.

I adhered the positive die cut to a top folding white note card, using the border as a guide. Here is where my mistake comes, I adhered foam strips to the back of the border die cut. Lining it to the the positive die cut was a struggle because of the flimsy nature of the foam. I tried my best to line it up but I think I could have done a better job. The next time I do this type of card, either I should layer die cut cardstocks for the raised border effect, or I can layer several positive die cuts then use it as a guide to adhere the border.

Adding more accents, I applied clear Spectrum Noir shimmer pen to the You die cut. I also adhered sequin butterflies to the panel. I fold the butterflies first to give it a 3D look. I applied glue to the folded end using Tim Holtz Distress Matte Collage Medium. Once the glue dried, I applied a dot of Nuvo Glitter Drops Purple Rain to cover the hole of the sequin.

Challenge #198~Anything Goes + A Sentiment

Male Teacher Card

I created a masculine teacher card for my seventh grader's homeroom teacher who is their Science teacher as well. I am using the Perfect Chemistry stamp set by Your Next Stamp. I also created this card to join their blog's current challenge.

I stamped the professor image using Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar white cardstock. I colored the image using Copic markers, and using Prismacolor pencils for detailing. I used a black Sakura Glaze pen for the boots. I used a white Sakura Gelly roll to add details on the tie. I applied Ranger Glossy Accents to the eyeglasses. I fuzzy cut the image leaving a small white border around hte image.

The chalkboard is a paper from Echo Park. I stamped the sentiment from the Perfect Chemistry stamp set on this using Versamark ink, embossed with white powder. I re-stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink slightly offsetting it. Using a cloth, I rubbed some white pigment ink on the chalkboard. I set this aside to dry.

For the chalkboard border, I blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo on Strathmore Bristol paper. I spritz water onto this and heat set it, repeating this process a couple of times until I achieve the look I am going for. I prepared this blended panel with anti-static powder. I stamped Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrop using Versafine Onyx black ink. I embossed this using clear powder. I cut this into strips and adhered it to the edges of the green chalkboard paper.

I embossed a yellow cardstock with Cuttlebug Typeset embossing folder. I blended Tim Holtz Distress Ink Wild Honey on this to make the embossed letters pop out.

For the banner, I selectively stamped the element stamp on red cardstock using Versamark ink. I heat embossed this using clear powder. I cut this and used a square punch to add fishtails to the bottom.

To assemble the card, I die cut a 6x6 patterned paper from the Jillybean Soup Country Chowder paper pad using a stitched rectangle die from Mama Elephant Peek-A-Frame Creative Cuts. I ink the edges of the paper using Tim Holts Distress Tea Dye ink. I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card. I adhered the yellow embossed cardstock to the left. I adhered the chalkboard to the right using foam adhesive. I adhered the professor next using foam adhesive as well, doubling it on some areas. I adhered the banner on the top with a We R Memory Keepers twine.

Sketch and Color Challenge #70

I challenged myself to create a card using the sketch and the color combo. I had fun designing and creating!
