Trifold Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. It is the first of the month which means there is a new challenge at Stick It Down Scrapbook and Card Making Challenge in FB. There are three sketches to choose from. I hope you join.

This is my take on the card sketch as shown above. I used the Grinch in place of the flower. I partially die cut the large sentiment on the front of my card. For the diagonal stripes, I used holiday washi tapes from my stash with some of it having words printed on it. I also created a sentiment strip to supplement the message of the large sentiment.

The Grinch is from a Kat Scrappiness stamp set. I want to thank Julie Patton for this stamp set which I won in her IG giveaway post. I stamped the Grinch on Ranger watercolor paper. I stamped this on the smooth side of the paper using Versafine Onxy black ink. I colored the image with a red and a green Lisa Horton Interference inks. I swiped the ink pad on a palette and picked the pigment with a paint brush. I painted the trim and the ornament with Finetec metallic watercolor. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it.

I added a twist to the card design by making this card into a trifold card. The first fold is the diagonal stripe portion of the sketch, with the main sentiment partially die cut to this panel. The sentiment is very dainty so I used the shadow die of the sentiment instead. This sentiment die is from Trinity Stamps. I die cut the sentiment on matte gold cardstock. I have extra die cuts of this sentiment which I adhered to the back of the gold sentiment die cut to add dimension to the sentiment. I die cut the shadow of the sentiment on a shiny red washi tape adhered to a scrap cardstock. I die cut this using the shadow die and trimmed it halfway.

This panel has a 1/2" tab which I adhered to the inside of the card.

For the middle fold, I rotated an A2 note card to have the fold on the right side. I trimmed a sliver off the open side so the sentiment panel will nestle nicely over the middle panel.

I trimmed a patterned paper at 4" x 5 1/4". I blended green ink on the edges. I added stitching to the circle patterns using metallic DMC threads. I added stickers to some of the circles.

I positioned the Grinch in a way that it looks like he is stepping on the diagonal strips. I adhered a washi tape under the Grinch on the middle fold so it does not look like the Grinch is floating.

For the inner panel, I die cut a light weight white cardstock with a stitched die from Simon Says Stamp. Once adhered, it hides the flap of the first fold.

I hope you like today's card. Please visit Stick It Down's social media sites for more sketch inspiration:

4th of July Inspired Birthday Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created a card inspired by the birthday of America which is celebrated every 4th of July. The Kat Scrappiness products I used are linked below.

I die cut the banner on red and blue cardstocks. I die cut 2 pieces of the banner on blue cardstock. The die I used is from the KS Nesting Fishtail Banner dies.

Here comes the tedious part. I die cut a lot of stars on white cardstock. The star die is from the same banner die I used for the banners. I used the second to the smallest star die in the set.

I die cut the strips on white cardstock using the KS Stitched Slimline Strips dies. I used the second to the thinnest strip die.

I adhered the white strips to the red banner vertically to create stripes. I adhered the white star die cuts to the blue banners.

For the sentiment, I die cut the sentiment on red, white and blue cardstocks. I was not sure which of these colors will work well with the design. I adhered these sentiment die cuts on top of each other with the red die cut on top. The die I used is from the KS Happy Birthday Shadow Sentiment Craft die.

I trimmed a patterned paper at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I adhered the blue starred banners on the patterned paper panel.

I added a pop-up feature to the red striped banner. I trimmed two pieces of a black cardstock at 1" x 2". I scored this black cardstock at every 4th of an inch on the short side. I folded this strip on the score line and reinforced the folds with a bone folder. I repeated this on the other black strip cardstock. I added glue to one end of the accordion strip and adhered this to the back of the striped banner repeating it with the other accordion strip. I added glue to the other end of the accordions and adhered this to the patterned paper panel.

I added dots of glue to the sentiment die cut and adhered this to the striped banner. I added shimmer to the sentiment die cut.

I zhuzhed the tails of the blue banner for some interest.

I hope you like today's card. With a heavy heart, this is my last post as a Kat Scrappiness Influencer. It has been a great ~2 years. I will always be grateful for this opportunity.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Checkered Background Die Cut Drop Outs

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's post features products from Kat Scrappiness. On this card, I am stretching the use of the KS Buffalo Plaid Background Craft die which is one of my most overused KS products.

This cover die, on top of the plaid design, cuts a lot of squares. You don't have to keep them but if you are like me, I keep these drop outs and try to use it to prevent it from going to waste. So in my repeated use of this die, I accumulated a lot of this drop out squares. I have used the squares as inlay on the openings of the plaid die cut. For today though, I am using these drop outs on its own to create a background.

I used an extra plaid die cut for my template in adhering the squares to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock panel. I applied glue to the each opening of the plaid die cut.

I inlaid a blue colored drop out to the openings of the plaid die cut creating a pattern as seen below.

To add more of these blue squares, I shifted the plaid die cut template downwards and towards the right. I continued inlaying and adhering the blue squares in the open areas to create a checkered pattern as seen below.

I did not have enough blue squares to complete the checkered pattern so I had to partially die cut a few more. I don't have the same blue cardstock. No worries. These different blue colored squares will be covered by the sentiment.

I adhered white square die cuts in between the blue squares. Since I used a white cardstock for the background panel, I could have skipped this step but I also want to use my square drop outs stash. I also want to give the background a tile effect with a smooth finish. Like any tiles, there are imperfections in some of the alignments that you might notice on the photo above.

To add details to the checkered pattern, I used the ribbon die from the KS Build a Cake Craft dies. I used the medium sized ribbon from the die set. I die cut the ribbon on a light pink cardstock and snipped off the trim that the die cuts with the ribbon. I die cut a lot of these ribbons to fill up the white squares of the checkered background. I added Nuvo Crystal Drops to the center of the ribbon. I set this aside to dry.

I die cut the sentiment from the KS Thank You Shadow Sentiment Craft die on white cardstock. I die cut the shadow on the same pink cardstock I used for the ribbons.

I lightly spritz the pink shadow die cut then embossed it using a checkered embossing folder. I heat set this to dry. I adhered the sentiment die cut to this embossed die cut.

I adhered this to the checkered panel. I applied shimmer to the sentiment with a clear shimmer pen.

I hope you like today's card. I encourage you to look into your die cuts and give those negative cuts/drop outs some life.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Stretching Your Supplies

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's project is about stretching your craft supplies especially during these times when craft supplies are not getting replenished in the stores or craft supplies are getting to be too impractical to buy. I used products from Kat Scrappiness which I listed below in case you are interested.

I worked on the bouquet first. I die cut the layered tulips on pink cardstock. This layered tulip die cuts five tulips but I selective die cut the stems and leaves to make a three tulip floral bunch. I die cut the center stem with the leaf and die cut the right most stem with the leaf. I die cut the latter again but keeping in mind that I will use the reverse side of the die cut. I used a smooth cutting plate for the mirror image die cut to prevent transferring the cuts from the cutting plate to the paper.

I blended ink on the back most layer of the tulip. I adhered the oval layering piece on top. I adhered the tulips to the stemps. I bunched the tulips together to create a three flower bouquet. I used a pocket die to cut the bouquet wrap on a brown paper. I wrapped this paper around the bouquet. I pinched the flower wrap on the middle where I wrapped a brown paper cord. I tied the paper cord into a bow. I squirted liquid glue to the paper cord to keep it secure.

I added white accents to the tulips using a white Wink of Stella.

I worked next on the background. To give the buffalo plaid a different look, instead of adhering it straight as it is intended for, I adhered it diagonally. I die cut two pieces of this background on white cardstock. I adhered the first background die to another white cardstock diagonal to the cardstock panel. I used the other buffalo plaid die cut to fill the open areas on the corners of the cardstock panel.

I flicked a pearl white ink to the panel.

I die cut the sentiment on the same pink cardstock I used for the tulips. I also die cut this sentiment on vellum. I adhered the vellum die cut on the cardstock die cut to make the color lighter compared to the color of the tulips.

I die cut the stitched strips on the same pink cardstock I used for the tulips. I adhered the strips underneath the words of the sentiment, sort of an underline. I adhered this to the buffalo plaid panel.

I applied clear Wink of Stella to the sentiment to add shimmer to it.

I adhered the wrapped bouquet to the panel.

I was going to stop here but I felt something was missing. True enough, it still needed a pop of color so I adhered the stitched strips on the edge of the buffalo plaid panel keeping the corners free of glue so I can snip the corners for a clean,  diagonal look. I squirted a dot of glue underneath these snipped diagonal colors to adhere it.

I hope you like today's project. I recommend for you to look into your stash. You never know what you will come up with your craft stash.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Plaid Greeting Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's card uses products from Kat Scrappiness. I got my inspiration after joining an IG Hop for another company's products release. I would like to thank @larissaheskettdesigns for the colors and card design inspiration. I like her work so much that I created my own version of it.

I die cut a red shiny textured cardstock using the KS Buffalo Plaid Background craft die. I kept the red square drop outs which I used later. A tip for a successful one pass cut using this die is to add a metal shim to your cutting plate sandwich. It works each time for me.

I measured the width of the two columns of the plaid and use this measurements to trim a blue cardstock. I was initially going to adhere this cardstock over the two rows of the plaid background but changed my mind. I placed it behind the plaid cover die cut. To add some depth and detail to this piece, I embossed the plaid pattern to this panel. To use your metal die cuts for embossing, add a silicone mat underneath the cardstock when you layer your die cut sandwich. This pushes the metal die to the paper, thus, transferring the design to the paper. You have to play with your die cutting machine to know what plates are needed to get this effect without ruining your machine and your paper.

I adhered this to the back of the plaid cover die cut, aligning the embossed design with the opening of the plaid die cut. It is hard to see in the photos but the embossed design added a pillow effect on the openings.

I adhered the red square negative die cuts to the back of the vented portion of the plaid die cut.

I adhered a white cardstock to the back of the open columns. I pieced in white square negative cuts to the open areas. I used this cover die a lot that I accumulated a lot of these square negative cuts.

I stamped some of the images from the KS Wok On stamp set to a smooth watercolor paper. I used Karin markers to color the images. I added details to the images using a white gel pen and white enamel glue to the eyes. I fussy cut the images. I arranged the images on the panel, mostly placing it on the blue area of the plaid panel. I adhered the images with foam tape for some dimension.

I prepped a piece of white cardstock with an anti-static tool. I stamped the sentiment to this piece using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I poured black embossing powder to it and heat set it. I created this into a strip using a sentiment die. I adhered this sentiment strip to the same blue cardstock I used on the panel. I used a craft knife to gently cut the blue cardstock creating a matte around the white sentiment strip. I adhered this to the panel.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
