Fall Pop-up Vase Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Happy Thanksgiving to you, all. I created this a while back but didn't get to post it until now.

I created a similar project in the past; a smaller version for Mother's Day (Pop-Up Vase Card), and a slightly larger version for a special birthday girl (Pop-Up Vase Card and Mini Note Card). For today's project, I challenged myself to create a pop-up vase card using a larger floral stamp which will need a larger vase. I would like to thank Crystal Best for her very helpful tutorial specifically in sharing the paper size needed to create the vase and also where to score the trimmed cardstock.

I used the Scrapbook & Cards Let's Stamp Together January 2022 kit to create the flowers and the leaves.

I stamped the solid flower on white cardstock. Instead of doing an ink to stamp technique, I used a blending brush to apply the ink to the solid stamp. I am using the Misti Stamping Tool which is a must for this kind of inking. Blending the ink to the stamp gives a softer look to the image. Depending on how juicy your ink pad is, you might have to re-stamp the image a couple of times. I used two shades of ink color per image. I blended the lighter color first before the darker one. I die cut the flowers using the coordinating die.

To save time in die cutting, I placed a dot on a prominent part of the flower die using a permanent marker. I marked this spot on the  plastic film that comes with the stamp making sure that this dot matches the dotted spot on the metal die.

For the floral centers, I blended the ink on white cardstock using the same ink I used on the flowers. I added the details by adding embossing paste over the stencil. Since the flower centers have small holes, it might be tedious to add the paste. Lifting the stencil somehow distorts the details. The trick to preventing this is to wipe off any excess embossing paste on the reverse side of the stencil before doing another floral center. This prevents the stencil from sticking to the paper.

After I applied the embossing paste, I poured Ranger Copper embossing powder to the embossing paste. I set this aside to dry before heat setting it. The embossing paste gives the embossing powder more dimension. I die cut the flower centers using the coordinating die. The die is also something you can fiddle with to find the perfect alignment with the floral center details but I don't think this matters a lot.

I layered the flower centers with extra die cuts for more dimension. I inked the edges to hide the white edge of the floral center. I adhered this to the center of the flower.

I worked on the leaves using the same inking technique. I die cut the leaves using the coordinating die.

For the flower stems, I used the Lawn Fawn Slide on Over die set. Who said these can only be used for sliders? I die cut the four long slider dies on brown cardstock, cutting doubles so I can layer these stems to give it some stability. I adhered this to the back of the flowers. To give it a finished look, I adhered another white floral die cut to the back of the flower.

I trimmed a kraft cardstock for the vase using the dimensions mentioned by Crystal in her video. I assembled the vase per Crytal's tutorial.

I started building my floral arrangement starting from the front and slowly increasing the height of the flowers. I was trying to limit the height of the flowers and the vase to 6", just like Crystal's, but I forgot that my vase has a wider width when flattened. I just need to make a customized envelope for this pop-up card to accommodate its size.

Adding the stemmed flowers is a messy, sticky job. I just eyeballed where I apply the liquid glue to the stem. Sometimes, the spot is not right so I have to add more glue leaving some glue residue to the area. Sometimes, the flower falls off so I have to re-glue the stem. Even my craft tweezers got glue all over it. Anyway, despite this mess, I think the end product is truly worth it. Good thing that I did not made any gluey mess on the flowers.

Adhering the leaves is the next challenge since you only put a dot of glue to the tip of the leaf and adhere it to the back of the stem.

Good thing that I delayed adding the vase details until after all the glueing is done. I was able to hide any adhesive mess underneath the rectangle details on the vase.

For the vase, I just trimmed an orange plaid patterned paper. I also doubled this with a light weight scrap cardstock. I inked the edges to give it a rustic look and hide the white core of the paper I used for layering.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed the sentiment stamp included in the kit on a woodgrain patterned paper. I adhered this to a kraft cardstock and used a craft knife to cut this into a rectangle.

For the stick that holds the sentiment, I die cut this using a straw die from the My Favorite Things Mason Jar Mug die set. Yes, you read it right. I used a straw die to cut this out. You can also just trim a strip of cardstock if you don't have a die like this, or you can use a slim popsicle stick.

I also cut doubles of the straw so I can layer it to make it sturdy. I adhered the sentiment to this and adhered this to the vase.

I hope you like today's project. I am thankful for your time in visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Autumn Inspired Slimline Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge theme for this month is Autumn Harvest and/or Houses. Our sponsor for this challenge is Alex Syberia Design. I linked the image I used on this card below.

I printed the image on heavyweight white cardstock. I colored the image using several mediums (Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, Zig Clean Color Waterbrush and Karin markers.) Since I am not using a watercolor paper, I am doing a dry watercolor technique. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. I added Tim Holtz Antique Linen watercolor crayon to the white spaces to mute the stark white.

I trimmed a Hero Arts Plum cardstock at 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" for the front panel. I added the embossed frame with the use of a mat. The slimline frame die is from the Trinity Stamps Frame and Fold die.

The layout is inspired by the sketch below from Scrapbook & Cards. I die cut patterned papers from Echo Park Fall Fever 6x6 paper pad using one of the rectangles from the Hero Arts Infinity Rectangle dies. I picked some ephemera from the same line and from the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor. I played around with the elements that will complete my layout until I am satisfied with how it looks. I inked the edges of the rectangle patterned paper die cuts using an ink that matches the color of the patterned paper. I inked the hexagonal ephemera too.

I adhered the rectangle patterned paper die cuts to the plum panel, then adhered the ephemera, adding some metallic embellishments. I heat embossed a postage stamp from the Simple Stories Autumn Splendor stamp set to the right lower rectangle patterned paper. I used a Ranger Copper embossing powder for this.

I die cut the sentiment on the colored digital image. I heat embossed the sub-sentiment using a brown dye ink and clear embossing powder. I adhered a copper glittered paper to the back of the colored digital image which shows through the holes created by the sentiment die. I adhered this to the panel using foam adhesive.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you join our latest challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Sketch Inspired Scrapbook Layout (New To My Stash #18)

Hello! Welcome back to another New To My Stash post. For today's project, I am using the Lawn Fawn Spooky Village stamp set and coordinating die.

I created this with the Scrapbook And Cards sketch below as inspiration. The theme of the sketch is Halloween and having the 4 photos on the layout gives me an opportunity to feature the bumble bee costume worn by all of my sons.

I stamped the houses from the Lawn Fawn Spooky Village stamp set on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers. I die cut the images using the coordinating dies.

I printed my sons' photos using the Canon TS Series PIXMA TS9521C printer. I am amazed by the photo quality with the use of this printer especially the print on glossy photo paper.

My scrapbook layout is sized at 8" x 11". Not a lot of space to work around. Instead of matting the paper, I added strips of patterned paper around it. I used patterned papers from different companies, My Mine's Eye, Carta Bella and Doodlebug.

For my journaling, I decided to make it interactive by posting a question, hoping that my sons, when they grow up, will be able to recognize themselves as a toddler. I used a My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circle die to die cut the journal piece. I used a typewriter for the blurb.

The tag is hidden behind the blurb panel which is adhered on two sides only so I can insert the tag behind the panel. I added sticker numbers on each photo which correspond with the trivia answer.

And since my Halloween supplies are out, I decided to create this bonus card using the same supplies.

I created a kid's birthday card using the image that I cut out of the blurb panel. The sentiment strip is from the cut apart patterned paper sheet. The striped panel are left overs that are not large enough for a a card panel so I put two scrap papers together. The seam looks like a part of the design. I could have added stitching but I was going for a quick card. I added purple star brads to fill the space next to the sentiment. It also matches the purple of the main image.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Using Left Over Foil - Craft My Stash #5 Part 2

Hello! I am continuing my Craft My Stash series using a pretty left over foiled leaf from my previous post. I used the negative cut of the leaf as a mask to apply Deco Foil Transfer Gel on a burgundy colored cardstock. I set this aside to dry overnight. I fussy cut the foiled leaf. I lined this on top of the dried Deco Foil Transfer Gel. I placed this inside a folded parchment paper and ran it through the Minc Machine. The reveal is always amazing with foiling.

I am creating this card for the Scrapbook and Cards World Cardmaking Day Sketch Challenge. I rotated the sketch, just like Mindy did in the blog post as linked below. I cut two more leaves using a Cricut Design Space Fall Leaves Image. I cut the leaves on a pearl red cardstock. This image also scores the veins of the leaf. I traced these lines with a gold gel pen. I ran a maroon colored Copic marker on the sides of the leaves to cover the white core of the cardstock.

For the sentiment, I die cut the word grateful from the Concord & 9th Lace Leaf die set. I die cut this on white cardstock three times. I adhered the word on top of each other for a dimensional look.

For the panel, I created a horizontal A7 panel from a dark brown cardstock. I trimmed a woodgrain cardstock to 6 1/2"x 5 3/4". I splattered some gold paint on it, then set this aside to dry. I trimmed off 6/16" from both sides on the long end, keeping both of these strips. I trimmed off 2/16" on both long ends. I adhered the strips to the dark brown cardstock, then adhered the middle panel.

I curled the tip of the leaves. I adhered this to the center woodgrain panel with the foiled leaf at the center. I adhered the sentiment on the foiled leaf. I added Nuvo gold drops. I set this aside to dry.

I added brown bows to the bottom of the leaves.
