Partial stamping is a technique in which you mask and ink only a part of the sentiment stamp. I used this technique so I can make the one line sentiment stamp into a two lined sentiment. You can always cut the stamp if you want to but if you don't, partial stamping technique is the way to go.

Character Father's Day Cards, Belated

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created two Father's Day cards with a special request of One Piece which is the recipient's favorite. I am not familiar with One Piece so I have to research this online. 

The first card is a pop up stand card created using the Pixie Dust Designs Stand up Pop up Card die set which I recently bought. I was attracted to this die set because it reminds me of the Hallmark pop up cards. I was curious on how to use this. This is my second try using this die. On my first try, I used a light weight patterned paper. Thinking that it will not withstand the weight of the main element, I doubled the die cuts for the pop up mechanism. I adhered the two die cuts together. It was not a good idea. It was hard to slip the paper through the slits. IT might work if I cut the slits wider. 

Another thing that did not work is my main element has the same width as the large half circle die cut. I did not have enough area to add a design to this die cut which was supposed to hold the pirate ship.

On my second try, I used an 80 lb blue cardstock which just worked fine. The cardstock slipped through the slits without problem. Because of the weaved design, it was able to hold the main element upright.

I also cut a larger half circle to hold the image. I used the Cricut machine to cut this piece. I used one of the Pop Up die cuts as a guide for cutting the slits on this large half-moon die cut. 

Having a larger center piece allowed me to embellish the half cicle with waves cut using the Cricut. I heat embossed some of the waves using Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder. After I adhered the main element, I adhered the waves to the half circle piece making sure to avoid the slits. It is easier to embellish this piece when it is removed from the weaving mechanism.

For the sentiment, I die cut a banner on black cardstock using a die from Lawn Fawn. I die cut two pieces. I heat embossed the sentiment to this banner. The sentiment stamp is also from Lawn Fawn. I trimmed two pieces of acetate strips. I sandwiched these strips in between the two banners keeping in mind the distance between these strips. I adhered the strips behind the first half circle pop up using a double adhesive tape. 

I added black Ranger Enamel glue to the eyes of some of the characters.

For the second card, my design was inspired by trading cards. I trimmed several red and green cardstocks. The main front panel is a green cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I trimmed a red cardstock at 2 1/8" x 5 1/2". I trimmed a darker red cardstock and a darker green cardstock at 2" x 4 3/4". I added details to these pieces. I heat embossed a Blank Page Muse clock on the red piece. I embossed the green cardstock with an Altenew Linen embossing folder and lightly sanded it. I trimmed the green cardstock shorter to accomodate the numbers. 

I die cut the numbers on white cardstock. I die cut three pieces of each number and adhered it on top of each other for some dimension.

I heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock using white embossing powder. I trimmed this into a sentiment strip. 

I added tiny details of the circle and hexagon which can be seen on a trading card.

Magic Mini Stamps with Kriti

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I had the opportunity to join another Altenew virtual workshop last Friday. What's really special about this workshop is an AECP Educator candidate, @craftyromantic, gets to teach us with her final project. 

The focus of the class is the use of small stamps. I don't have the flower stamp Kriti used on her card. I used the Altenew Charming Bouquet stamp set which is a freebie from Altenew. This stamp set was especially mailed separately by Altenew and it was also created especially for the recipient because it includes a stamp of your name. 

I stamped the floral cluster on a light weight cardstock 3 times since the card being created has a wreath. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink which is a Copic friendly ink.

This is when the hard work starts for my hands. I colored the floral bundle image using the colors Kriti used on her flowers. She used the Altenew Alcohol markers which I don't have so I used my Copic markers which are also alcohol markers. I used 4 shades of red on the flowers (R05, R17, R29, R59), 2 shades of yellow green (YG01, YG03) and 2 shades of green (G21, G28) for the leaves. I don't think I have colored this much in a short span of time. 

Even though I tried my best, I still went over the lines when coloring the flower centers. A trick I learned in the class is to use gold gel pen to color those centers and over the alcohol markers. Such a great tip.

I have to fussy cut the bouquet since it does not have a matching die. More exercise for my hands.

I used a different embossing folder for my background panel since I don't have the embossing folder Kriti used on her card. I used the Altenew Raised Sentiments embossing folder. I embossed a shimmer white cardstock using this embossing folder.

I heat embossed a large sentiment from the Altenew Build A Garden: Sulfur Cosmos stamp set. I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock using a black pigment ink. I poured clear embossing powder onto the wet ink then heat set it. I die cut the sentiment using the matching die. I die cut two extra pieces on white cardstock. I stacked and adhered this to the back of the stamped sentiment.

I arranged the bouquet of flowers on the embossed card panel the same way as Kriti's wreath on her card. I adhered the flowers and the sentiment to the panel.

I was not able to create the second card which is an easy watercolored card. The technique of adding a light wash of halo around the watercolored images is something I will consider doing in my future watercoloring projects. 

I had a great time especially at the end when Erum was open to questions regarding the AECP workshop. She and the rest of the group were very encouraging. I just really need to pick a date and host my own workshop.

Pastel Fussy Cut Striped Card

 

Hello! I am back on the Blank Page Muse Blog with this card. The stamps I used on this card are the BPM Beyond the Border Mixed Media Set 1 clear stamps and the BPM Happy Birthday Phrase rubber stamp. 

Instead of using foam strips on this card, to add dimension to the fussy cut borders, I stacked several strips of scrap white cardstock cut at 1/4" wide. I stacked three pieces of the strips. In using strips, I created dimension without too much bulk a foam strip creates. The paper strips does not get squished flat like the foam adhesive when sent by mail. Best of all, I get to use my scrap paper stash. 

I adhered the stacked strip to the back of the fussy cut stamped border.

I adhered the stacked borders to a 4" x 5 1/4" white cardstock panel.

I adhered the borders alternating the colors until the panel is filled with the borders.

I adhered the panel to an A2 top folding note card. The sentiment was heat embossed on vellum using gold embossing powder.

A Shimmery Christmas Card, a Blank Page Muse Post

 

Hello! I am back at the Blank Page Muse blog with this card for an alternate take on Christmas theme. I was going for a steampunk design but ended up with a shimmery design for a card. But before I continue with the card, let me greet you all A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you are enjoying the holiday with your loved ones.

I used stamps from the Blank Page Muse Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Sheet Set. I did some embossing, fussy cutting and die cutting to create the scene. I used shimmer paper on this card except for the curved strip. 

I used a Glad Press 'N Seal to preserve the arrangement of the stockings as I add liquid glue to the back of the cut outs.

Doodlebug World Card Making Day 2025 Card #2

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. This is the second card I created for the Doodlebug Design WCMD Challenge. This time, it is for a sketch challenge. The sketch is at the bottom of this post. I enjoy sketch challenges because it is formatted which works well with my creative mind. 

The focal point of the card, the Christmas tree, is a Scrapbook.com exclusive Doodlebug Design stamp set. It has been discontinued, unfortunately. 

I fussy cut the Christmas tree which was not that hard to do. 

I used the A & B sides of a Doodlebug Christmas patterned paper. I die cut the center and flipped the patterned papers to add interest. I inked the middle portion to achieve some contrast.

I die cut the scallops on the same red patterned paper for a tone on tone look. I added stitching to the scallops with a die to add details and make the scallops noticeable.

I hope you like my second card. I enjoyed creating these cards for the Doodlebug WCMD Challenges.

Happy STAMPtember!

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Simon Says Stamp is celebrating STAMPtember! It is the biggest and most exciting stamping event of the year. Last month, SSS asked for mailing addresses from their followers. The first 100 will get a complimentary STAMPtember exclusive product. YAY! I am one of the lucky 100!

I used the SSS Best Witches Clear Stamp Set on my platform pop-up card. I stamped the images on watercolor paper. I colored the images with Kuretake Gansai Tambi, Coliro Mica and Karin markers. I fussy cut the images. The stamp set has a coordinating die available for puchase in case you are not into fussy cutting.

I think the most challenging part of this project is arranging all the elements on the platform. I did a lot of fiddling with the arrangement. I am so glad with all the re-arranging of the already glued elements, the platform survived. 

I stamped one of the sentiments on black cardstock, partially stamping a segment of the sentiment to create this into strips. In this way, the sentiment will fit on the back of the platform pop-up.

I added a glow-in-the-dark feature to the pop-up platform for an additional enchanting fun. These elements are also floating off the platform which was achieved with the use of acetate strips.

Spider Web on a Fall Card?!

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's project was created using Blank Page Muse products. I hope you like it.

I got busy with a month long post for the Day of the Dead that I was not able to use some of the BPM Halloween themed products that I ordered. I don't want to wait for next year. Luckily, on my web search, I was able to come across an image with a spider web but is not Halloween themed. The spider web is so subtle that it does not distract your eye from the focal point.

For my card, I decided to give the Stazon Metallic Platinum ink another try. I have been unsuccessful in using this ink. This is what's great about the internet. You can search for not only images but also techniques on using a product. 

I temporarily adhered the BPM Grunge Cobwebs Halloween Background to the glass mat. I inked the stamp with the Stazon ink. 

I placed an acetate on top of the inked stamp and gently ran my fingers across the acetate to transfer the ink to the transparency.

Not the greatest impression but not too bad either, right? The image popped when I placed a black cardstock behind it. I used a brown cardstock instead for a fall color.

I stamped the BPM Small Sunflower Blossom Rubber Stamp on watercolor paper. I used the Misti Stamping Tool just in case I need to re-stamp the flower. I temporarily adhered the rubber stamp to the door of the Misti using a glue stick.

I stamped the sunflower using different Tim Holtz Distress inks. To make sure the inked impression is dry, I heat set it.

I fussy cut the flowers leaving a small white border around it.

Using the same color of ink I used in stamping the flower, I blended the ink on the flower to add color to it.

For the flower center, I used a smaller blending brush to apply the same color of ink I used to stamp the flower.

I die cut some leaves on green cardstock using a die from Altenew. I blended ink on the leaves to add some depth. I also drew leaf veins on the leaves using a metallic green pen. 

I adhered the stamped transparency to the back of a scalloped frame die cut on orange cardstock using a die from Pretty Pink Posh. I used a thin double adhesive tape to adhere the transparency to the frame. I adhered the unstamped side of the transparency to the frame to preserve the inked impression of the background. 

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" dark brown cardstock. I spritz some Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain on this panel. The colors I used are Rusty Hinge and Fossilized Amber. I dried the panel with a heat gun.

I arranged the flowers on the brown panel using the transparency as a guide. I avoided adhering the flowers behind the spider webs. Once I am happy with the arrangement, I adhered the flowers and leaves to the brown panel. I adhered the framed transparency after. 

I adhered the rest of the flowers and leaves on top of the transparency. 

I die cut the letters using a My Favorite Things die for the sentiment. I die cut the letters on kraft and cream cardstock. I adhered the cream letter die cuts on the back of the kraft letter die cuts, slightly offsetting it for a shadow look. I adhered the letters to the transparency.

The frame is a bit shorter than the 5 1/2" length of the card. I trimmed off some of the edges to make the border around the frame even.
