Shaker, Wobbler Birthday Card, a Remake

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. A new month means a new challenge at Stick It Down Scrapbook and Card Making Challenge in FB. There are several opportunities to join with three sketches to choose from.

My Favorite Things just said its goodbye to its crafting era. I am saddened to see another great crafting company close its doors. I remember my first MFT product, which I still have, believe it or not. I also remember where I bought it, a brick and mortar store here in St. Louis, which sadly closed a long time ago. I also remember joining the MFT blog challenges, winning once last November 2021. Lots of great memories. It just shows how anything is vulnerable to the changing times. I want to thank Kim, MFT's owner, for all the great things she has brought to me in the crafting world. I wish her well and maybe I will cross paths with her again in the future.

This card is a tribute to MFT using MFT products from my card stash.

This is also a remake of a card I created a long time ago. I had a bit of technical malfunction with the shaker feature of that card. I really wanted a seamless shaker card at that time but I was not able to contain the shaker beads. With the developments and improvements in crafting, I was able to figure out how to fix this problem. 

I stamped the images on watercolor paper using Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink so I can do a no line coloring. I used the Misti Stamping Tool to stamp the images. With the texture of the watercolor paper, I needed to re-stamp the images. The stamping tool was a big help on this part.

I stamped five images from the MFT stamp set to follow the number of balloons on the sketch. 

I colored the images using a newly acquired Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors Noveau Set of 24. I already have the set of 36 colors and also own several single watercolor pans. I love this watercolor brand! The new set offers muted colors which is a great addition to the 36 color set. 

After  I watercolored the images, I fussy cut the images leaving a narrow border around it.

I used pattern papers from Doodlebug to complete my scene. I trimmed the green checkered paper at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  I traced the wavy road die on this panel. I cut the panel on the traced lines and erased the pencil lines.

I die cut the wavy road die on a pebbled patterned paper. Using the split panel as guide, I positioned the wavy road die cut on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" light weight paper. I lightly traced this with a pencil. I colored this traced road with a black marker. This black coloring will show through the wavy road die cut.

I adhered the wavy road die cut to the white cardstock panel using the traced lines as guide. I erased the pencil lines. I lined the wavy road die cut with a double adhesive tape. I wrapped this panel with a left-over plastic film packaging leaving one of the ends open. The double adhesive tape served as a trap to keep the shaker elements. I poured seed beads on this wavy road pocket. It was a bit tough with the narrow opening that's why I chose a very small shaker element, seed beads. I closed the bottom flap to seal the shaker. Now I have a seamless shaker. This is the upgraded step of my previous card. 

I stamped the sentiment on the larger green checkered paper piece. I treated this first with an anti-static tool. I stamped the sentiment using a red dye ink then stamped it using Versamark ink so I can heat emboss it with clear embossing powder. I used the Misti Stamping Tool for this purpose.

I adhered the checkered paper to the wrapped panel using liquid adhesive. I set this aside to dry.

I adhered one of the bear images on the road portion of the panel using a mini wobbler. I adhered the other bear image and the larger tree with foam adhesive. I adhered the other tree and the stop sign image with liquid glue. I used a portion of the negative die cut to ground the car.

I inked the edges of the green checkered panel to mute down the brightness.

Scrapbook & Cards Today FB Challenge

Create a Panel Using Left-over Die Cuts

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I have a lot of square negative die cuts from a plaid die. I was using that die a lot so I accumulated all of this square die cuts which I decided to keep for later use. 

I trimmed a typing paper at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" to use as a back panel for the square die cuts. I grouped my square die cuts by color and pattern to give me an idea on how much squares I have for each color and pattern. I used an L-ruler to help with the alignment of the squares while I start building the pattern of squares from a corner. I made sure that the alike colors are not too close to each other. I used a liquid glue to adhere the squares to the typing paper. I left this panel aside while the glue dries with something heavy placed on top of it. 

I treated this tiled panel with an anti-static tool. Using the Misti Stamping Tool, I stamped the Blank Page Muse Floral Spray Sunflowers Chrysanthemum Line Art rubber stamp to the tiled panel using Wow! Embossing ink. Since this is a large stamp, I pressed the stamp to the paper with enough pressure so as to transfer the sticky ink to the tiled panel. The Misti Stamping Tool is very helpful with this step. I was able to re-stamp the image a couple of times until I was able to get the whole image stamped. 

In between stamping, I poured glittery black embossing powder to the sticky ink. I heat set the powder making sure I move the heat gun while melting the powder to avoid flattening the already melted powder. 

I created a frame for the panel using a fringe scalloped rectangle die and a rectangle die. I cut strips of purple cardstock and adhered this to the back of the frame. This color will show thru the fringes when the fringes are lifted up. 

I created a sentiment strip by heat embossing the sentiment on the same red cardstock I used for the frame. I trimmed this off into a strip and adhered it to the tiled panel.

I adhered the frame to the tiled panel, then adhered this to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" red cardstock.

Color Inspired Shaker Birthday Card

Hello. Welcome back to my blog. Several blog challenges inspired me to create this card. These blog challenges are linked at the end of this post.

The balloon frame was watercolored using a stitched scallop circle die from Pretty Pink Posh. I applied orange Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor to a watercolor paper. Once this has dried, I applied a coat of Coliro watercolor as a second coating for a bit of shimmer. I did the watercoloring before the die cutting. You can also do the other way around.

Using a slightly larger circle die, I die cut a window on a slate cardstock. I flicked some orange Coliro watercolor to this windowed panel. I adhered an acetate to the back side of this window panel. I adhered the scalloped circle frame to the front. For the tip portion of the balloon, I created this using a stitched polygon die. I partially die cut the polygon this since I needed only half of it to complete the balloon design. I ran this through the die cutting machine again to add the stitching detail to the end part of the balloon.

For the shaker portion of the card, I adhered foam strips to the back portion of the panel, lining the circle acetate window to create a well. I pre-treated the sides of the foam with a powder tool. I poured clear sequins to this well. 

I trimmed a white cardstock larger than the circle window. I adhered some of the clear sequins to this panel. After the glue has dried, I adhered this panel to the foam adhesive to seal the shaker window. The shakers I used are from Pretty Pink Posh.

Working on the front of the card, I smooshed the Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink on my palette. I spritz this with water. I applied this pigment to a watercolor paper. I applied several coats of the pigment to the watercolor paper. I die cut the sentiment to this watercolored paper. I also die cut this sentiment on scrap cardstock. The sentiment die is from Simon Says Stamp. I stacked the sentiment die cuts by adhering the colored cardstock on the back of the watercolored sentiment die cut. I added some Ranger glitter to parts of the sentiment die cut for a bit of sparkle.

For the subsentiment, I stamped this on white cardstock using an orange dye ink. I die cut this into a strip using a sentiment strip die. I also die cut an extra strip and adhered it to the back of the sentiment strip die cut. 

I adhered the sentiments to the acetate.

I added a string and bow to the balloon using a twine.

I added more adhesive foam to back of the panel before adhering this a top folding A2 note card.

Cross-Stitched Greeting Card

After I have stitched the whole panel, I die cut a rectangular frame out of blue cardstock. I adhered this to the stitched panel. I also adhered the negative cut to the back of the stitched panel to secure the stitching. I matted this with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" light blue cardstock.

For the sentiment, I die cut the same light blue cardstock using a stitched square die. The die is from Lawn Fawn. I heat embossed the sentiment onto this. The sentiment is from Li'l Inker Designs. I adhered this to the stitched panel. Before I forget, the stitching die I used is from Paper Smooches.

I added Pretty Pink Posh clear confetti sequins to the stitched panel.

Sketch & Colour Inspired Greeting Card

 

Hello! Welcome to a new and the last challenge for the year at Incy Wincy Designs. This time it is a sketch and color palette challenge. The colors are very similar to last challenge's colors, so if you still have your color supplies out, might as well use it for another card or creation for this challenge.

I printed the image on white cardstock. I colored the image using Copic markers, keeping the colors close to the colour palette as seen below.

For the sketch part, I rotated the sketch and did some modification. 

For the background panel, I blended several Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks (Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and Wilted Violet), the colors of which were inspired by the colour palette. I used a Strathmore Bristol paper. I layered a gray Recollections Dahlia paper on top of it. I die cut this using a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" rectangle die.

I die cut a light blue patterned paper using the Li'l Inkers Fringed Scalloped Rectangle die. I created this into a frame using a craft knife. I adhered a pink vellum on the back, carefully avoiding the fringed areas since I popped these fringes up. 

For the banner, I die cut a white crepe paper with a die from the Ellen Hutson Never Ending Fringe die set. I machine stitched the top with a silver thread. I trimmed a bit off these fringes to shorten it. 

For the sentiment, I heat embossed this on a gray cardstock strip using TH Distress Oxide Wilted Violet and clear embossing powder. The sentiment came as a one liner sentiment which I cut off in three parts after heat embossing it. I circle punched the plus sign and adhered it to one of the flower centers on the detailed cut background. 

I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it. I added some Lawn Fawn Chunky glitter to the trim of the hat and the dress. I added a pompom to the tip of the hat. 

Assembling the card, I first adhered the stitched crepe fringed paper to the card panel. I next adhered the framed panel with skinny foam adhesive so it will not show through the popped-up fringe on the frame. I then adhered the image to the panel with foam adhesive. The sentiment strips were adhered to the top right corner. I added three pink gems near the sentiment strips to mimic the sketch.

Cat Scene Gift Tag

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created this tag with several inspirations. I am joining the Newton's Nook Blog challenge, thus, explain the cat image. I am also joining Ellen Hutson's 12 Tags of Christmas. And lastly, when there's a cat image, it is automatic that one of my sister's cats will be the model. For this time, I colored the cat with one of her kittens, Lit, as the inspiration.

We know how kittens can be very playful especially around a Christmas tree. I chose my stamp images based on this idea. I made sure that the area I will be stamping my scene on fits inside the frame that I use to create the tag. I stamped the cat on a white cardstock. I created a mask of this cat image as well. The image is from Newton's Nook Designs Flower Garden stamp set. I partially inked the stamp since in the stamp, the cat is smelling a butterfly. I covered the butterfly with some tape to avoid inking it while I apply the ink to the cat image.

I stamped the tree, also doing some partial stamping. The stamp is from Ellen Hutson Homespun Holiday stamp set. The stamp image is of a tree spine on a bag. I just added ink to the tree spine. I used a light dye ink for the stamping since I will be stitching on this tree.

I colored the cat with Copic markers. 

I poked holes on the tree for stitching. I used DMC Diamant Gold and Black, and Green Metallic Threads. For the ornaments I die cut a red mirror cardstock using a die from the Lawn Fawn Mini Wreath die set.

To mute the stark white background, I colored the background with Copic marker.

I stamped the sentiment on the panel which was double stampe. I did not like the green colored sentiment, so I decided to stamp it again with a red ink. The thing is, I removed the stamp and the panel out of the Misti. I did my best to align the stamp over the stamped sentiment. But you know, sometimes you got this stained stamp. Not to forget my poor eyesight sums up to an offset re-stamp. Uuggh! But it looks like it was stamped that way, so I let it be. 

I die cut a green pearl cardstock using the Li'l Inker Designs Fringed Scalloped Rectangle die. To make this into a frame, I used a smaller rectangle to die cut the window. I adhered this frame to the colored panel. I trimmed off the excess. 

To make this into a die, I added the ribbon/twine holder by die cutting a red pearl cardstock with the Concord & 9th Bags and Tags die set. I die cut two pieces and adhered this together, with the wrong sides facing each other. I adhered this to the back of the colored panel making sure it is centered. To keep the layering even, I adhered two layers of scrap cardstock to the back of the colored panel. 

For the back panel, I don't have a rectangle die that matches the size of the front-colored panel. I lightly traced the edges of the colored panel to a white cardstock. I trimmed this cardstock using these traced marks as guide. I stamped the To and From sentiments to this panel. The stamps are from Avery Elle Holiday Circle Tags clear stamp set. I stamped these using a red dye ink. I adhered this to the back of the layered front panel. I cut off the edges.

I threaded a Lawn Fawn Gold Sparkle Single Cord through the hole of the tab.

Christmas Tags Using Strips And Washi Tape, And first Ever Live Stream

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's project is made as part of my first ever livestream at Debbie J's Crafting Corner YouTube Channel wherein we created Christmas tags.  

I don't have a tag die large enough to fit the tree frame tag. I created one with the use of a rounded rectangle die and a tag die. I die cut a gold, silver and white cardstocks using a rounded rectangle die from Honey Bee Gift Card Present Box Dies. For the tag portion, I die cut this on the same cardstocks using Concord & 9th Bags And Tags Die Set. I adhered a metallic tag die cut to the white tag die cut. 

I added detail to the metallic rectangular die cuts using Li'l Inker Designs Quilted Stitched Pattern. I die cut a window using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Christmas Tree Frames die. I traced the window on the inner side of the white rectangular die cut. I applied the patterned paper strips/washi tape to cover this penciled area. 

For the back of the tag, I stamped to and from using Mama Elephant Confetti Stamp Set.

I die cut more Lawn Fawn Stitched Christmas Tree Frames for additional accent to the tag.

Putting the tag together,  I sandwiched the tag die cut in between the window rectangular piece and the white cardstock. I trimmed off any excess. I adhered the same colored tree frame by piecing it on the tree window. I adhered the contrasting tree frame next. 

I created the sentiment strip by heat embossing the sentiment on a white cardstock using dye inks and Versamark ink. I poured clear embossing powder to this and heat set it. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp Abstract Holiday Stamp Set. I die cut this into a strip using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments Die Set.

I added a star gem on top of the tree. I added sequins to the tree. I also added glitters to one of the trees. I threaded a twine through the tag hole. I adhered a bow on the front. 

Preparing for a live stream can be anxiety provoking. There is some pressure on what to create. If not for the live stream, coming up with an idea of a project will not be a difficult task. To overcome this, I took a deep breath, looked at my supplies and pulled out things that I know I will enjoy creating with. But this is just a part of it. The live stream is another challenge. The experience was great. If I am going to do it again, let us just wait and see.

Two For One Card

Hello! Have you had those days when you just want to create something but you don't know what to create? These cards are the outcomes of that kind of struggle. So what did I do to overcome that struggle? I look at blog challenges and find my motivation there.

I heat embossed the sentiment stamp from the Trinity Stamps So Appreciative Stamp set on both blue and kraft cardstocks. I used the  Ranger Copper embossing powder on the sentiment stamped on the blue cardstock. I used a concocted embossing powder for the blue on kraft version in which I mixed Wow! Primary Blue Topaz, Wow! Changers Glisten and Paper Source Navy embossing powders.

I colored the sentiments with Faber Castell Polychoromos colored pencils following the color of the embossing. The inks I used for each card is detailed below. I colored the hearts with Spectrum Noir Red Solar Sparkle Glitter pen.

I die cut the embossed panel using a stitched die from the Trinity Stamps Frame And Fold die set. I added Making Memories Snaps to the each corner.

I die cut a wide strip of cardstock. I embossed these wide strips using the Li'l Inker Designs Quilted Stitched Pattern die. 

I trimmed 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstocks. I stamped the Hero Arts Novel Prose Bold Prints using the same color dye ink for a tone on tone look. 

I adhered the wide strip of cardstock to the stamped cardstock panel. I adhered the sentiment panel on top using foam adhesive. 

Here are close-up photos of each card and the inks I used for each card.

I added Copper Wink Of Luna to the sentiment, coloring over the brown colored pencil. I used bronze snaps. 

I added White Wink Of Stella to the sentiment, coloring over the blue colored pencil. I blended some Spectrum Noir Blue Topaz Sparkle Glitter. For the snaps, I added the same embossing powder mix I used on the sentiment. I pounced the silver metal snap onto the Versamark pad. I dipped the snap in the embossing powder mix, then heat set it. I am using a tweezer to hold the snap on each step. I repeated the process two more times for a more raised embossing.

Which of the two versions do you like? My 14 year old son loves the blue sentiment on kraft version. I like the brown sentiment on blue version but I also like the bleached look of the sentiment on the blue sentiment on kraft version.

Clean And Simple Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our first challenge of the year is Anything Goes. To make this challenge more special, we have three sponsors for this challenge. 

I am using an image from one of our sponsors. I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I blended Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on the background. I created an acetate cloud mask using the Taylored Expression Rolling Clouds die. 

I die cut the panel to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size using a die from the Hero Arts Rectangle Infinity Die.

The sentiment is from Li'l Inker Designs Greetings And Salutations stamp set. I stamped this using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with a black embossing powder. 

I added Nuvo Red Drops to the center of the bows. 

I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.
