A Pink Christmas, An Alternate Take On Christmas, A Blank Page Muse Post

 

Hello! I am back at the Blank Page Muse blog with this card. For December, the team is doing an alternate take on Christmas theme. I created a mostly pink Christmas card, which is a non-traditional Christmas color. The Blank Page Muse stamps I used on this card are the Beyond the Border Christmas Stamp Set and the Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Set Sheet. I used a pink striped pattern paper from a Valentine paper collection, a very alternate take.

The card is mostly pink except for the sentiment which I embossed in black. I feel that if I made this pink, it will get lost in the busy pink background.

2-For-1 Christmas Cards

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Creating Christmas cards using the same supplies makes the process easy. I applied this trick on my cards but I wanted to give each card some individuality. Alike but different, if this makes sense.

I used a stamp from Avery Elle for the focal point on these cards. The card on the left is a one layer card. I colored the image with watercolor brush pens. I stamped the sentiment and stamped hollies for the background. I masked the edges of the image and pounced Versamark ink to the open area. I poured Wow! Ultra High Clear embossing powder to the sticky ink. After removing the mask, I heat embossed the powder until the powder is melted. I repeated the process to create more dimension and smoothen the embossing. I had a bit of warping. After the embossing has cooled down, I placed something heavy on top of the card to flatten it.

For the other card, the image was stamped on kraft cardstock. I colored the image with Altenew acrylic markers. I cut the image leaving a narrow border around it. Since the image is square shaped, it was very easy to cut it. For the background, I adhered several scrap patterned papers on a typing paper. The patterned papers are from the same paper collection which makes it easy to mix and match since most of the time, the papers in a collection complement each other. I die cut panel using a stitched rectangle die from Mama Elephant. I adhered the panel and the stamped image to an A2 note card. 

For the above cards, I received the tree die cut from a Christmas card swap a long time ago. The sender was very kind to send both negative and positive cuts. For the card on the left, I die cut a scalloped frame on aqua cardstock using a die from The Stamp Market. I die cut a scalloped edge oval on vellum using a die from The Stamp Market. On the negative oval cut from the frame die cut, I added Ranger Glossy Accents and poured Lawn Fawn chunky glitter to it. I adhered the vellum to the back of the frame and adhered the oval negative cut to the back of the vellum lining it up with the scallop frame. I adhered this to a Lawn Fawn patterned paper cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I adhered aqua jewels and added clear glitter drops to the tree.

For the other card, I trimmed this piece into a 4" x 5 1/4" panel making sure the tree is on the center. I adhered this into a pink glitter paper cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

I adhered both panels to a side folding A2 note card.

A Crow For Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I won a give away at @valleyoakpaper IG page. The prize I got was a Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween which I received the week of Halloween. Lots of good Halloween die images to create in this package. Since I rarely create Halloween cards, I challenged myself to use something from the package and make it Christmas themed. I chose the crow die set for this challenge.

I did a web research if it is possible to feature the crow on a Christmas card. Surprisingly, I can. I die cut the layers of the crow. The die set sleeve was helpful in making me plan the colors of the crow layers. I changed the colors of the beak, wing, hat trim, bow, monocle and claws. 

 

I die cut the beak and wing on dark gray cardstock. I blended black ink to the right side of these die cuts.

I die cut the hat trim and bow on red pearl cardstock.

I die cut the monocle on gold mirror cardstock. I punched a circle on a transparency. This circle is large enough to fit the monocle. 

I die cut the claws on mustard cardstock.

I outlined the brow of the crow and added a dot to the eye using a white gel pen.

I added the leaves which I trimmed from a wreath die cut. This was die cut on green glitter paper. I added a red gem to the center of the leaves.

The tree is a Tim Holtz tree ephemera. I added green glitter gel to the tips of the tree and a bit on the center. My glitter gel dried up after not using it for almost a year. I spritz water to it until the gel loosened enough to spread it. I used a micro tip applicator to apply the glitter gel to the tree. I set this aside to allow the glue to dry.

The frame is also from same Tim Holtz ephemera pack. I lightly blended ink to the outer edges of the frame.

I die cut a brown cardstock using a Lawn Fawn banner die. I spelled out the message using a Lawn Fawn Milo's ABC stamp set. It took a while to put the message together since some of the letter stamps will fall on its side or move. I used the negative cut of the banner to position the letters. Thankfully, none of the letters fell off after I inked the letters while it was attached to the acrylic block. I stamped the letters using red dye ink. It would have been better if I was able to emboss it but I did not want to push it since putting the letters together took a lot of effort.

I die cut a gray patterned paper using a stitched die. I adhered the ephemera to the panel. I adhered the bird to the banner, and adhered this to the panel with foam tape.

String Rainbow Christmas Tree

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I am on a Christmas card making spree since I was commissioned to make Christmas cards. Got to start early to be able to deliver. 

This card was inspired by the latest Lawn Fawn Challenge with the theme of Rainbows. I created a Christmas tree with rainbow strings.

I die cut the smallest tree die from the LF Stitched Christmas Tree Frames on a rainbow mirrow cardstock. I die cut an extra tree on a regular cardstock. I also die cut the star included in the set on gold mirror cardstock. 

I applied a 1/8" double adhesive tape to the back of the mirror tree die cut. I adhered the LF Unicorn Tail Sparkle Cord to the adhesive tape stretching the twine from the top to the bottom of the tree. Once I have filled up the opening of the tree frame with twine, I applied liquid glue to the back side of the tree frame then adhered the other tree frame die cut over it. This will help secure the twine in place.

For the panel, I die cut a pearl white cardstock using the LF Fancy Lattice Backdrop die. I trimmed another piece at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I adhered the lattice panel to this rectangle piece.

I prepped a white pearl vellum with anti-static powder. I stamped the sentiment from the LF Offset Sayings: Christmas stamp set on this vellum using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I poured clear embossing powder to the wet ink then heat set it. I coloured the letters with a green shimmery pen. I set this aside to dry before cutting it into a strip.

I created a trunk for the tree using the stem die from the LF Stitched Flower Frame die set. I die cut a pearl brown cardstock using this die. I adhered this to the back of the stringed tree.

I adhered the tree to the white panel. I adhered the sentiment strip on top of the trunk applying glue to the back of the sentiment only.

I adhered the star using a foam adhesive. I adhered clear sequins to the strings. I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.

Doodlebug World Card Making Day 2025 Card #2

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. This is the second card I created for the Doodlebug Design WCMD Challenge. This time, it is for a sketch challenge. The sketch is at the bottom of this post. I enjoy sketch challenges because it is formatted which works well with my creative mind. 

The focal point of the card, the Christmas tree, is a Scrapbook.com exclusive Doodlebug Design stamp set. It has been discontinued, unfortunately. 

I fussy cut the Christmas tree which was not that hard to do. 

I used the A & B sides of a Doodlebug Christmas patterned paper. I die cut the center and flipped the patterned papers to add interest. I inked the middle portion to achieve some contrast.

I die cut the scallops on the same red patterned paper for a tone on tone look. I added stitching to the scallops with a die to add details and make the scallops noticeable.

Christmas Trim Ornament Paper Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I am a guest designer at the Cut It Up Challenge. The challenge theme is Starts with a "C." Can you guess what is my card's "C?" If you said Christmas, you are right. It might be too early to think about Christmas but it is never too early to start creating Christmas cards. 

What makes this card special is that it is not only a card. The tree embellishment on the front of the card is an ornament. I die cut the tree on green cardstock using a triangle die from the Spellbinders November 2018 Large Die of the Month kit. I adhered a double sided adhesive to one side of this triangle die cut. After removing the release paper from the adhesive, I adhered lace trims to this triangle die cut. I squirted liquid glue to some areas to keep the trim secure. I end up using a glue gun to adhere the ends of the lace trim to the back of the triangle die cut.

I die cut the trunk of the tree on brown cardstock. I used the mailbox post in the Lawn Fawn Happy Mail die set. I die cut several pieces and adhered one over the other to make it thick. This die cut has a slit which is part of the design. I adhered a scrap cardstock to one of the post die cuts to keep the slit shut. I fussy cut the excess. I adhered this to the back of the tree die cut.

For the star, I die cut two pieces on gold cardstock and one piece on gold mirror cardstock. The star die is from the same Spellbinders die set I used for the tree. I adhered one of the gold cardstock star die cuts on top of the tree.

I knotted a gold embroidery floss and taped it to the back of the Christmas tree. I die cut another triangle on green cardstock and adhered this to the back of the tree. I adhered the other gold star die cut to the back to sandwich the floss. 

The gold mirror star die cut was adhered to the front. I taped the loop of floss to the back to hide it.

For the card panel, I die cut the Kat Scrappiness Buffalo Plaid Background die on white cardstock. I die cut thin strips of green pearl cardstock, red glitter cardstock and gold mirror cardstock using a die from the Kat Scrappiness A2 Stitched Strips Craft die set. I adhered these strips to a white cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" to create a plaid pattern that will show through the plaid die cut. I adhered the plaid die cut to this.

For the holder of the paper ornament, I adhered a gold washi tape on vellum. I trimmed off the edges leaving a slim border of vellum on the top and bottom of the greeting washi tape. I wrapped this around the plaid panel with the paper ornament inserted underneath it. I secured the ends with tape on the back of the panel. 

I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card. Because of the weight of the paper ornament, it has a tendency to slip off the band. I secured the tree in place with a low tack tape adhered to the back of the paper ornament.

Stitching Behind a Coverplate Die-Take 2

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Kat Scrappiness is having a Christmas in July sale. Aside from this, there is a You Pick 3 Christmas Challenge on the KS blog.  I added the links at the bottom of this post, in case you want to check it out.

Back to my card, this is the second time I created a card like this using the KS Christmas Tree Background Craft die. This die is on clearance! You might want to purchase it before it is gone. 

The first stitched card I created using this die used traditional Christmas colors (https://ienjoywhatido.blogspot.com/2022/11/stitching-behind-coverplate-die.html).

I die cut the tree background on green cardstock. I used a Crafty Meraki Stitch-A-Cross slimline die to poke stitching holes on a white piece of cardstock. I temporarily taped the background die cut over the stitching panel to guide me with stitching.

Once all the stitching is done, I carefully peeled off the washi tapes from the tree background die cut. 

I applied some shimmer on the tree outline using a shimmer pen.

I adhered the tree background die cut over the stitched panel.

I added french knots on the circle openings of the tree background die cut. I adhered KS snowflake sequins on the snowflake portion of the background die. I added a dot of clear glitter glue to the center of the snowflake sequin. I adhered circle glittered die cuts to embellish the tree.

For the challenge, the 3 that I picked are: Holiday tree (Christmas Tree), Die Cuts and add gold touches.

Christmas in July 4 Kids

Tiled Design Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. The stamp I used on this card is the Blank Page Muse Beyond the Border Christmas set. The trees stamp is vertically oriented. To give this stamp a new look, I stamped the trees on different colored cardstocks. I used a slightly darker colored ink for each colored cardstock to make the trees pop-out. To make the trees pop out some more, I embossed the trees with Ranger Holographic embossing powder. I used a Misti Stamping Tool for precise stamping with the dye inks and the sticky ink. 

I trimmed the tree border close to the edge of the image. I trimmed each tree separately to create five trees. All I had to now is to create a background using these cut up trees. 

I adhered the cut up trees to a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" typing paper. I die cut this paper into a 4" x 5 1/4" panel. I adhered this to a pink cardstock die cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2". I used a stitched rectangle die to die cut this pink panel.

For the sentiment, I wanted a small, simple sentiment so that focus will not be taken away from the tiled background. I stamped the sentiment on a pink cardstock, the same cardstock I used for the tree and the matte. I used the same pink dye ink I used for the tree to stamp the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment with sticky ink and poured the same hollographic embossing powder over it, then heat set it. I trimmed this into a sentiment strip. I adhered another sentiment strip to its back for a bit of dimension.
