Sketch & Colour Inspired Greeting Card

 

Hello! Welcome to a new and the last challenge for the year at Incy Wincy Designs. This time it is a sketch and color palette challenge. The colors are very similar to last challenge's colors, so if you still have your color supplies out, might as well use it for another card or creation for this challenge.

I printed the image on white cardstock. I colored the image using Copic markers, keeping the colors close to the colour palette as seen below.

For the sketch part, I rotated the sketch and did some modification. 

For the background panel, I blended several Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks (Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and Wilted Violet), the colors of which were inspired by the colour palette. I used a Strathmore Bristol paper. I layered a gray Recollections Dahlia paper on top of it. I die cut this using a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" rectangle die.

I die cut a light blue patterned paper using the Li'l Inkers Fringed Scalloped Rectangle die. I created this into a frame using a craft knife. I adhered a pink vellum on the back, carefully avoiding the fringed areas since I popped these fringes up. 

For the banner, I die cut a white crepe paper with a die from the Ellen Hutson Never Ending Fringe die set. I machine stitched the top with a silver thread. I trimmed a bit off these fringes to shorten it. 

For the sentiment, I heat embossed this on a gray cardstock strip using TH Distress Oxide Wilted Violet and clear embossing powder. The sentiment came as a one liner sentiment which I cut off in three parts after heat embossing it. I circle punched the plus sign and adhered it to one of the flower centers on the detailed cut background. 

I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it. I added some Lawn Fawn Chunky glitter to the trim of the hat and the dress. I added a pompom to the tip of the hat. 

Assembling the card, I first adhered the stitched crepe fringed paper to the card panel. I next adhered the framed panel with skinny foam adhesive so it will not show through the popped-up fringe on the frame. I then adhered the image to the panel with foam adhesive. The sentiment strips were adhered to the top right corner. I added three pink gems near the sentiment strips to mimic the sketch.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog~Bling It On 

Black Blended Background Card

I got inspired by Kelly Latevola's card technique featured in the Simon Says Stamp Blog (http://www.simonsaysstampblog.com/blog/kelly-make-4th-series/). I want to give it a try and this is my own version of her card using that technique.

Using a Strathmore Bristol paper, I blended Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Picked Raspberry, Candied Apple & Barn Door. I blended the colors until I got the right ombre effect I was aiming for. I allowed this to dry but had to use a heat gun to speed dry it.

I am using heart stamps from different stamp sets, Studio Calico and Hero Arts.  I arranged these heart stamps on an acrylic block. I prepared the blended Bristol paper with an anti-static tool before I repeatedly stamped the hearts using Versamark ink. I embossed this using clear Hero Arts embossing powder.

This is when it starts to become messy. I smudged the Black Soot TH Distress Ink onto this panel. Just like Kelly, I had to use the blending tool to apply the black color to areas where the ink was hard to apply to.  I didn't get the same vibrant black as Kelly's. I think I need to re-ink my Black Soot TH Distress ink. I wiped the ink off the embossed hearts to make the colors pop out.

For the image, I am using Heart of Roses from Lemon Shortbread, one of our sponsors in today's Love challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. I uploaded the image to the Cricut Craft Room. I edited the image by cutting off the space between the girl and the heart. I colored the image with Copic Markers except for the flowers which I colored with Prisma color pencils. Using a glue gun, I adhered the ribbon on the heart, creating pleats here and there.

To frame the image, I die cut a parchment paper using Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Frames die. I adhered this to the black panel. I then adhered the girl image using foam adhesive. For the sentiment, I used Altenew Label Love. This time, I stamped the sentiment onto a black cardstock, using Hero Arts Unicorn Pigment ink. I embossed this using white HA powder. I outlined the message using a fine black tip marker to make it pop out, then adhered it to the card.

Love/ROMANCE Challenge

Digital Image on Kraft & Vellum

I've printed digital images on different kinds of medium, watercolor paper, acetate, patterned paper...what is another one or two? Using the Cricut Design Space, I uploaded the image and cleaned the image so I can have it drawn by the Cricut Explore. This image is easy to clean compared to the other images I've attempted to design in CDS.

I used a Ranger Embossing pen to draw the image on vellum. I embossed the cloud horse using WOW! White Puff Powder. I used the Cricut pen to draw the image again on kraft cardstock. I colored this image with Staedtler color pencils and a blender pen. I fuzzy cut the bear from the kraft cardstock and the cloud from the vellum. I ran a black marker around the bear to hide any imperfections in the fuzzy cutting. I adhered the bear on the vellum using a foam adhesive. I added Ranger Enamel accents to the eyes of the bear.

I used Strathmore Bristol for the cardbase. I taped this to stabilize it for ink blending. I taped a Hero Arts Irregular Checkerboard stencil on top of the card front. Using a stencil brush, I colored in Simon Says Stamp inks (Audrey Blue, Mint & Sea Glass.)

For additional embellishments, I stamped the balloon from the WPlus9 Unforgettable stamp set. I partially stamped this using Versamark on orange cardstock. I embossed the image with an orange American Crafts embossing powder. The sentiment is from Avery Elle Peonies stamp set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed this with clear powder. I die cut this using the coordinating die. I blended WPlus9 Sweet Nectar and Hero Arts White dye inks on the balloon. I glittered this with clear Wink of Stella. I added a white crochet as the balloon string, creating a knot which I adhere closer to the balloon.

To put the scene elements together, I attached the balloon with adhesive foam. I adhered the bear and the cloud, letting the string lay on the back of the bear to have the other end sticking out. I also adhered sequins to finish off the card.

Reindeer Spinner Christmas Card

My son asked me to create Christmas cards he can give to his friends.  In my thought, creating an interactive card with a reindeer on it will not only suit the ages of his friends, but may also remind them of my son since his name is a short version of the red nose reindeer.

To create the card, I stamped the reindeer images onto a 60 lb. Neenah white card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the reindeers using Copic markers. This is the part you may call me crazy but I fuzzy cut the reindeers. Yes, I did! I haven't bought the matching die for the Mama Elephant Reindeer Games stamp set because it is not available at my local craft store and most of the time, I like to try the stamp set first before investing on its matching die. 

I colored the antlers with Clear Wink of Stella. I used a green Copic Spica for the collar. I used Stickles for the nose. And, I used Glossy Accents for the medallion. 

For the card base, I wanted to create a 4-Bar trifold card. I trimmed a white card stock at 4 7/8". Then cut the short end at 10 1/5". I scored this at 3 1/2", then rotated the paper to score the other end at 3 1/2" too. I folded the card at the score lines. After determining which will be the front of the card, I trimmed a small part of the other edge to allow it fold underneath the front panel. 

I die cut a stitched circle on the front. I embossed the front panel of the card using a We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder. For the panel that will lay under the front panel, I created a night sky background. I masked the back portion of the trifold card. I also applied at thin strip of masking tape around the edges of this panel to create a white border around the inked area. I blended 4 Tim Holtz Distress inks (Broken China, Dusty Concord, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot.) 

After the inked background has dried, I powdered the bottom area of the panel where I will heat emboss the sentiment. I used a Hero Arts stamp for the sentiment (not photographed.)  I wanted the sentiment to be curved too in relation to the window circle. I laid the sentiment on a plastic sheet until I got the curve I want. Then, I picked the curved sentiment with an acrylic block. I stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink and poured Wow! Silver Pearl embossing powder to it. I added some droplets to this inked panel by tapping W Plus 9 Shimmer spray to the area. 

For the spinner, I taped a thin silver thread to the back of one of the reindeers. I applied Multi Matte Medium to this, then adhered the mirror image of the reindeer. I place an acrylic block to this and allowed it to dry. I cut a thin white card stock, smaller than a 4-Bar, about 3 3/8" x 4 6/8". This will cover the threads at the back of the front panel. I also die cut a circle onto this. I centered the reindeer on the circle, and taped the ends of the thread on the top and bottom of the back panel. I cut the excess thread, then covered this with the thin white card stock.

Embossed Blended Background With In-Laid Sentiment Card

I started off by blending pigment inks on Strathmore Bristol paper. I used Memento Luxe Sweet Plum and Avery Elle Raspberry. Since these are pigment inks, I allowed this to dry. I brushed a powder tool to this then stamped the flowers from Altenew Hennah Elements stamp set using Versamark ink. I stamped a couple of flowers only before I poured Wow! Gold Rich embossing powder to this and heat set it. Once I filled up the paper, using a brush and Prima Color Bloom in the colors of Tea Stain, Pearl White & Cotton Candy, I brushed each color on a flower randomly. I dried this by applying heat to it. To fill up the empty spaces in between the flowers, I stamped the dot using Hero Arts Black dye ink. I added a white dot onto this using Uni-Ball Signo Broad gel pen.

I die cut the word 'Thanks' using My Favorite Things Many Thanks die on this embossed-colored panel making sure I saved all the small pieces. I die cut another thanks on black cardstock. I applied Ranger Pearl onto this. I sprayed mist onto it.

I cut the embossed-colored panel to 5 1/4 x 4 1/4, then this panel onto a fun foam making sure there is plenty of glue on the area where I will in-lay the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment onto the negative space including the small cut pieces.

For the note card, I ran the Versamark on the top and bottom edges of a top folding card. I applied black embossing powder then heat set it. I adhered the embossed-colored panel on this.
