Hello! Welcome back to my blog. This card is part of my Craft My Stash series in which I feature products that I owned for a while or maybe a long while.

I created this card to join in Scrapbook And Cards Summer Issue Sketch Challenge. The sketch to follow is below.

I adhered the rose patterned paper on a heavy weight cardstock for more support. I die cut the windows by first piercing the holes using the Altenew die. I created the window using the Hero Arts die. I needed to do a little bit of measuring and penciling to make sure that the windows are going to be cut equally spaced and leveled with each other. 

I added the stitching over the windows using a variegated DMC floss. I french knotted a flower sequin to the center of the floss.

I used the American Crafts stencil to poke holes on a yellow patterned paper creating a zigzag pattern. I used stem stitch on this. I trimmed this into a strip then cut the bottom edge by following the zigzag stitched pattern.

I die cut a blue cardstock with the Paper Smooches rectangle die. I heat embossed the sentiment on this strip using a stamp from Waffle Flower. I had to do partial stamping to create a one lined sentiment since the stamp is a two line sentiment.

I adhered two of the patterned papers on a scrap cardstock. I die cut circles on these patterned papers using a circle die from MFT. I die cut the holes using the PS die. To add some variety, I die cut an inner hole on the orange circle die cut. I added stitching to these circles, using a blanket stitch on the blue circle. I french knotted a butterfly sequin on the blue circle.

For the tag, I die cut a brown patterned paper using a PS Tag die. I stamped the flower from the Waffle Flower stamp set on a cream cardstock. I ran this through my die cut machine on top of the Waffle Flower Piercing Panel to add dotted impressions, and make it look like a cross stitching cloth. I trimmed this to fit the tag and adhered with foam adhesive. 

I created a bow using a PS die. I doubled the bow by adhering the bow die cuts back to back so as to hide the white back side of the patterned paper. I curled the ends before forming the bow. 

For the heart, I adhered a patterned paper on top of a scrap patterned paper. I die cut the PS heart on this which only cuts the holes shaped like a heart. I fussy cut the edges to create an outlined heart. I added running stitch to the heart.

I adhered each element to the window card panel, following the sketch. I added vellum to the back of the windows.

Trifold Card-New Craft Stash #9

Hello! I am featuring the Simon Says Stamp You Have My Heart die. I always have eyes for sentiment dies with shadow dies. Before, I will just fussy cut around a sentiment which offers some challenges every now and then. The shadow dies on the other hand, produces a cleaner cut. And makes it a lot easier. But I did not use the shadow die in this creation of mine.

I know it might be too early for Valentine's but some crafting companies are already showing previews of their Valentine's release. Also, when I purchase this product, my plan is to use if for a future Valentine's project so I think creating a Valentine's card this early should be okay. What do you think?

I cut a Hero Arts pink cardstock at 11" x 4 1/4". I scored this at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4" to create a long trifold card. I die cut two hearts using the same colored cardstock and using the largest sized heart from the HA Nesting Hearts die. I dry embossed one of the hearts using American Crafts Amy Tan Love Spun embossing folder. I adhered the other heart to the back of this embossed heart for extra support since I will use this as a flap. I inked the edges of the heart with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tattered Rose using the Ranger Blending Tool.

For one of the flaps, I adhered some washi tape to create a diagonal striped background. I trimmed off the excess. 

I embossed the other flap with a dotted embossing folder. I lightly blended THDI Tattered Rose to this embossed flap using a blending brush.

I die cut the sentiment on a red and white cardstock. I adhered the red sentiment die cut on top of the white sentiment die cut for a raised look. I repeated this process on the heart that get cuts with the die. I applied Spectrum Noir Solar Red Sparkle to the letters. I added clear Zig Wink of Stella for more shimmer. 

I adhered the heart more towards the right flap. I adhered the sentiment die cut on top of the heart. I adhered the heart on the center of the letter o. I added Ranger Glossy Accent to this heart and set this aside to dry.

Using Negative Cuts On A Card, Second Part Of New Craft Stash #6

Hello! If you saw the previous post, that is my 8 year old taking over my blog and trying to show off his art work. I hope you liked it and if you have time to leave him a comment, please do so. 

Back to this post, I am using left over cuts from a previous card featuring the Trinity Stamps Marshmallow die set. In that project, I started off by applying a wash of color on a 4" x 6" watercolor paper. I used this washed watercolor paper to cut out the letters for the sentiment. I die cut the letters with equal spacing to maintain the color gradient on each letter which was created on the watercolor panel. After the letter die cuts popped off the panel, I saw how perfect the layout of the letters are. I did not want to put this panel to waste so I saved it. As soon as I was done with my other card, I went ahead and worked on this one.

I cut several scraps of patterned paper from the 6x6 American Crafts My Girl paper pad. I cut these out to cover the negative cuts created by the letters. I distributed the patterns to the letters for some variation. I would say that this is a good way to use those scraps. I did some ink blending on each patterned paper using the Tim Holtz Distress inks in Tattered Rose, Salty Ocean and Squeezed Lemonade.

Before I adhered the patterned paper to the back of the negative cut panel, I spritz and added splatters on the front panel with Prima Color Bloom Spray in Soft Teal. I dried this with a heat tool. Then, I added splatters of Prima Color Bloom Pearl White. I also dried this with a heat tool.

I started adhering the cut out patterned papers to the back of the negative cut panel, making sure that a negative cut letter is covered by this cut out patterned paper. I used a liquid adhesive. 

To make the letters pop out some more, I ran a thin tipped black gel pen on each letter. 

I created a black A7 card for the card base. I adhered the negative cut panel to this with fun foam adhered to the back for some dimension. I drew a line around this panel using a Sakura Souffle Light Orange Gel Pen.

Patterned Paper Collection Inspired Colored Image

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The theme for the challenge is Girls, Girls, Girls-Majorly Girly/Tomboy. I am using an image from one of our two sponsors, My Besties, for this challenge.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image using Copic markers. I got my color inspiration from an old American Crafts paper pack, My Girl. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around the printed image. Since this is a large image to fussy cut, I took a break in the middle of the cutting to rest my hand.

I am using scraps from the 6x6 AC My Girl paper pad. I created a simple collage of the scraps by adhering it to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" typing paper.

I am taking out the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Stitch Piercer from my craft chest. I ran this through the collage for a running stitch but this is less noticeable after I covered the panel with vellum. I am using another WRMK Sew Easy Heart Stitch Piercer. I ran this on one of the scrap patterned paper and stitched the hearts with DMC floss. To make the hearts pop, I inked the inside of the heart with Tim Holtz Distress ink and pounced a brush with Ranger Perfect Pearl powder. I created this into a border by fussy cutting the top portion of the hearts. I grounded the colored image to this heart border.

I covered the collage of patterned papers with vellum to mute this busy background and make the image pop. I die cut the vellum using a stitched rectangle die from Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I adhered the stitched heart border to the bottom of the panel. I adhered a cut along sentiment from the paper pack and cross stapled this to the top of the panel. I adhered the image with foam tape.

Creating Backgrounds Using A Small Sized Stamp

Hello! I created this card to participate in Stay Crafty With Hero Arts Challenge. The challenge theme is Self Care, a project just for me. I don't think this challenge is limited to using Hero Arts products only but I did challenge myself to just use Hero Arts. I will never forget HA for these are the products that I started with as I began my journey to paper crafting.

I also created this card thinking that I would love to receive a card like this. With everything going on with life right now, this card can definitely lift my spirits especially if I receive it without expecting it.    A little bit or a lot of kindness will ease out any uncertainty that lies ahead.

Back to the project, I looked at my HA products and came up with this design. I am using a letter stamp from the Hero Arts Acts of Kindness stamp set. I stamped this on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Neenah Solar White card stock using Memento Black Tuxedo ink. I stamped this randomly to cover the whole panel. I heat set this to dry. I colored the envelopes with Copic markers.

For the focal point I die cut a vellum with the HA Floral Stamp & Cut By Lia. I die cut a heart slight larger than this floral heart using HA Nesting Hearts die. I used a dark shiny pink card stock for this solid heart to layer on the back of the floral heart die cut.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed it on black card stock using HA White embossing powder. I snipped off the edges to create fish tail edged banner.

To put the card together, I embossed a black card stock with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Wafer die. I die cut the letter background panel with an American Crafts scallop edged die. I adhered the vellum floral heart to the dark pink heart. I adhered this to the center of the letter stamped panel. I adhered the sentiment strip to the center of the floral heart. I added Nuvo and Stickles to the heart on the letters. I set this aside to dry.

Sketch Inspired Scrapbook Lay Out

Hello! I created this scrapbook lay out to participate in Scrapbook and Cards March Sketch challenge. The sketch is shown below.

I have not done a lot of scrapbooking lay outs. I find it more stressful to create this than a card. The sketch is very helpful in making me plan the materials I will use.

I looked through my paper stash which paper line I have most. I chose this Photo Play patterned paper and started choosing the elements of my lay out from this patterned paper. I chose papers with blue and cream colors since the close up photo has blue on it. I also added a colored patterned paper to supplement the colors of the fruit cake on the other photo.

The one thing fun about this project is going through my stash and discovering products that I have.

I used American Crafts Thickers for the title. I traced the white outline on the center of the letter with Uni-Ball White Signo gel pen to make the letter pop. I added dash lines with a blue glitter pen. I added metal staples with We R Memory Keepers Staple Board. I adhered faux cross stitches using Paper Smooches Cross Stitch die.

I added a wooden star Studio Calico embellishment. I adhered washi tape to the back of the wooded star for a pop of color. To do this, I folded the washi tape, with the adhesive part inside. I applied liquid glue to the back of the star and adhered the washi tape to each triangle. I brushed the front of the star with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Midas Touch Gold pen. What is a star without shimmer?

As much as I want to add some journaling, I could not remember anything specific that I want to journal related to this occasion so I added a subtitle. To keep up with the wood themed elements on this lay out, I adhered another wooden sentiment from Recollections.  I die cut the you sentiment on wood tape and used the negative cut. I tucked this under the cute sentiment. I used the positive cut in adhering the inner pieces of the letters y and o. The you die is from Avery Elle A Tag For All Elle-ments. 

I adhered ticket die cuts to add more color. I added a folded blue cardstock over the tickets. I die cut the edge of this card stock with Mama Elephant Borderlines Trio Creative Cuts. I also used this die to cut the blue patterned paper on top of the title. I added staples and cross stitched die cuts. The cross stitch was die cut using wood paper.

I die cut a blue shimmer card stock with Ellen Hutson Star Trail die. I adhered a gold cardstock on the back of this blue shimmer card stock to make the stars pop out. I added a tab and stamped the date on it. The tab was cut using Paper Smooches Toppers die.

I added chipboard stars for more pop of color. I adhered coordinating colored sequins on the stars.

Recent photos make it easy to journal since the memories are still fresh. Also, it is so fun to use products from different companies to come up with a lay out. It was difficult at first but once I saw all the possibilities by seeing my stash, I really enjoyed the process of creating this.

March Sketch Challenge

Stitched Sentiment and Stitched Accent Card

Hello everyone. It is time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge blog. We are featuring a Tic-Tac-Toe board as seen below. I marked off the elements I chose to feature in my card to make a diagonal  line across the board.

Our sponsor for this challenge is Fabrika Fantasy. I am using a free image I downloaded from their website called Little Dragons. I have two (or maybe more) inspirations in creating this card. Since the image are dragons and there is another sequel to the How To Train Your Dragon, in which a new dragon is being introduced, I got inspired to color these dragons based on the main dragon characters of this animated movie. The other inspiration is the Polychromos coloring of Annabel Haines of The Blog @ Cartaway Cards and the owner of Knitty Kitty Digis. I just got to try her technique.

I printed the image on Neenah Kraft cardstock and just colored away with my limited Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. I only have a 12-piece set. With Anna's encouragement, I was able to color this image with this 12-piece set! I made several discoveries using these pencils. To make color variations with these pencils, especially if you only have few, color the image with the white color pencil then color the image with the desired color. How heavy you color also creates color variations. Since the Polychromos is a highly pigmented pencil, the heavier weight you put in while you color, the darker and bolder the color will be. Coloring while holding the color pencil in an angle creates a light touch of color. Another way to create variation. Adding details to the colored image using colored Sakura pens also adds a different look to the colored image.

I was in a look out for a striped rainbow patterned paper in my supplies. I cannot believe I have none. I can just create one, right? Using a Neenah Solar White cardstock and a stripe stamp from Simon Says Stamp Basic Stripes set, I stamped this stripe stamp using different colors of dye ink. I used a Misti Stamping Tool since I am using a solid stamp image, I had to re-stamp the image a couple of times to get good color coverage. At the same time, the Misti made the stripe stamping easy. Instead of moving the stamp to create the stripes, I was moving the paper upward and downward. The stamp remained aligned and straight throughout this repeated stamping.

The other element I chose to complete my tic-tac-toe is the stitching. I have an American Crafts Amy Tangerine Embroidery Stencil Kit for stitching letters. I lightly drew a line using a T-ruler and placed a mark on the center to guide me in positioning the letters. I poked holes on a Neenah Kraft cardstock using the template. I poked the holes again using a We R Memory Keepers needle to make the holes bigger to be able to thread a embroidery floss through it. I cut around the stitched letters, leaving a small kraft border around it. I adhered this to a pearl paper and cut around it again with a border around it. I applied clear Wink of Stella to the stitched kraft cardstock.

I die cut a square window on the striped panel using Lawn Fawn Stitched Square die. I adhered foam adhesive to the back of this window panel. I positioned the window so as the digital image is centered in the window. I created a strip of inked cardstock to mimic one of the stripes. When I was creating my striped panel, I did not like the red dye ink I used. I changed it to a pink ink later on. I inked a strip of white cardstock using the same pink dye ink. After the ink has dried, I cut this into a strip with the same width as the stripe stamp. Using the stitch stencil, I poked holes to create a cross pattern. I stitched the cross using a similar colored embroidery floss. I adhered this to the stripe I wanted to cover, then adhered the stitched sentiment on top of it.

After I got to this part, I felt something was missing. A supplementary sentiment is what will complete the card. After treating the area with an anti-static powder, I carefully stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I was very happy not to make a mess at this point since a lot of of my time has been invested into making this card already. I applied clear embossing powder to the area. I made sure that the heat gun is warm enough before zapping the powder with heat to avoid warping the foam adhesive behind the panel. The sentiment is from Avery Elle Peonies stamp set.

City Pop-Up Card using Cricut

This card is inspired by my soon to be 11 year old son who loves the Cricut Destination cartridge so much. When I bought this cartridge, I knew he will love it. And, he does! He loves interactive cards, too. So I mashed those two ideas together and came up with this card.

The Cricut Design Space has been updated. It still does not work with Safari but otherwise, the upgrade is great! I am sure I have not discovered all of its features but so far, the feature that I love the most is while the current layer is cutting, I can edit where the image will be cut on the next layer. In this way, I can maximize a cutting mat more and not overuse the top corners of a cutting mat. Isn't that great?! If you have a favorite CDS feature, I would love to know it!

To create the pop-up mechanism, I cut strips of patterned paper & scored it in different widths, from a  1/4" to 1". I overlapped the ends using a strong adhesive to form a square or rectangle. I attached this to the back of the die cut and card panel. I also used square acetate in some areas for more not too obvious support in the pop-up movement. The key to this type of pop-up card is to train the scored squares and rectangles by closing the card shut, and opening it wide, pressing the scored squares rectangles at both times.

The background was splattered with gold Finetec watercolor. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a Hero Arts Fancy Uppercase Die.

For the front, I die cut a gray cardstock using the scallop border die from American Crafts Daydreamer. I centered a globe stamp from Concord & 9th Map Love stamp set using Versamark ink. I applied Platinum Ranger embossing powder to this. I die cut the globe and a circle window using stacked circle dies from My Favorite Things. To create a flat shaker card, I cut a scrap plastic wrapping to a size big enough to cover the circle window. This gave me a plastic pocket attached only on one side. I used the We R Memory Keepers Fuse tool to secure the other edges after I poured in some Studio Calico sequins. I attached this to the back of the window using a double adhesive tape. This panel is then attached to the front of the card. I used the Altenew Label Love for the front sentiment, stamping it with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossing this using clear powder.

Yrwin loves to play with the Cricut Design Space. I still have this project in my account cloud. He saw it...grrr! I told him it is for a project. He didn't asked further which is good or else the surprise is gone.
