Stamped Background In Rainbow Colors

Hello! I created this scrapbook layout to take part in Scrapbook & Cards International Scrapbooking Day Stamping Challenge. This is a late post since I had to wait for the announcement of the winners. I did not win but this layout is one of the highlighted work. See the rest of the scrapbooking layouts who are highlighted, and for the challenges' winners, visit Scrapbook & Cards INSD post

I started off by stamping the Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards All My Heart stamp set on watercolor paper.  Since I am creating a full page sheet, I kept the stamps on the plastic that holds all the stamps. I taped the edges of the plastic film to a  Fiskars Easy Stamp Press. I applied Versafine Onyx Black ink to the stamps and started stamping on the watercolor paper. Since the watercolor paper has texture, making sure that the stamp press is down all the time, I used a Chuckie tool to apply more pressure to the stamp press to get a good impression of all the stamps. I repeatedly stamped the stamp set until the whole watercolor paper is stamped on. For the ones with a poor impression, I fixed this with a black gel pen after I am done painting.

I colored each text box with Karin markers, following the colors of the rainbow. For the hearts, I used Gansai Tambi watercolor in white as base, then adding White Gold on top.

My album pocket's size is 9" x 12". I trimmed the watercolor to 8 3/4" x 11 3/4". I matted this with a white cardstock cut at 9" x 12". I cut my photos and added it to a white cardstock for a little bit of contrast from the busy background.

I die cut the hello using Concord & 9th Say Hello die. The die cuts an outline, a shadow and a scripty hello. I die cut the shadow on black cardstock and the scripty hello on white cardstock. I saved the outline die cut for a future project.

To create more contrast, I matted the white panel with red cardstock. I created a subtitle for my layout by die cutting letters from the SugarPea Designs Letterboard die on white cardstock. I die cut a duplicate for each letter so I can adhere one on top of the other for a raised look. The die set does not include an ampersand. I heat embossed the ampersand using white embossing powder. The stamp is from Hero Arts Christmas Crystals stamp set. The die set also did not have any apostrophe. I created one by doing a bit of die cut surgery using one of the letter die cuts.

I wrote my journaling underneath the subtitle before trimming the red cardstock with the use of a craft knife.

I adhered this on the rainbow watercolored panel. I added heart gems from Nuvo. I also added shimmer to the subtitle using Zig Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Sketch Inspired Scrapbook Lay Out

Hello! I created this scrapbook lay out to participate in Scrapbook and Cards March Sketch challenge. The sketch is shown below.

I have not done a lot of scrapbooking lay outs. I find it more stressful to create this than a card. The sketch is very helpful in making me plan the materials I will use.

I looked through my paper stash which paper line I have most. I chose this Photo Play patterned paper and started choosing the elements of my lay out from this patterned paper. I chose papers with blue and cream colors since the close up photo has blue on it. I also added a colored patterned paper to supplement the colors of the fruit cake on the other photo.

The one thing fun about this project is going through my stash and discovering products that I have.

I used American Crafts Thickers for the title. I traced the white outline on the center of the letter with Uni-Ball White Signo gel pen to make the letter pop. I added dash lines with a blue glitter pen. I added metal staples with We R Memory Keepers Staple Board. I adhered faux cross stitches using Paper Smooches Cross Stitch die.

I added a wooden star Studio Calico embellishment. I adhered washi tape to the back of the wooded star for a pop of color. To do this, I folded the washi tape, with the adhesive part inside. I applied liquid glue to the back of the star and adhered the washi tape to each triangle. I brushed the front of the star with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Midas Touch Gold pen. What is a star without shimmer?

As much as I want to add some journaling, I could not remember anything specific that I want to journal related to this occasion so I added a subtitle. To keep up with the wood themed elements on this lay out, I adhered another wooden sentiment from Recollections.  I die cut the you sentiment on wood tape and used the negative cut. I tucked this under the cute sentiment. I used the positive cut in adhering the inner pieces of the letters y and o. The you die is from Avery Elle A Tag For All Elle-ments.

I adhered ticket die cuts to add more color. I added a folded blue cardstock over the tickets. I die cut the edge of this card stock with Mama Elephant Borderlines Trio Creative Cuts. I also used this die to cut the blue patterned paper on top of the title. I added staples and cross stitched die cuts. The cross stitch was die cut using wood paper.

I die cut a blue shimmer card stock with Ellen Hutson Star Trail die. I adhered a gold cardstock on the back of this blue shimmer card stock to make the stars pop out. I added a tab and stamped the date on it. The tab was cut using Paper Smooches Toppers die.

I added chipboard stars for more pop of color. I adhered coordinating colored sequins on the stars.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope I was able to inspire you to create a lay out during these stay at home days. The photos to put in a lay out need not to be recent. Recent photos make it easy to journal since the memories are still fresh. Also, it is so fun to use products from different companies to come up with a lay out. It was difficult at first but once I saw all the possibilities by seeing my stash, I really enjoyed the process of creating this.

Have a SAFE, blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Water Spritzed Tim Holtz Distress Ink Stamp Masculine Card

I created this card for my eldest son who is going on a retreat next month. It is actually a surprise. Good thing, he doesn't read my blog so it should still be a surprise.

Other than creating this card with a masculine touch, I want to play with my Concord & 9th supplies, and hopefully be able to participate in their current challenge on watercolor. I am using the Concord & 9th Lace Leaf stamp set for this card which comes with a watercolor wash stamp. Using a Strathmore watercolor paper, I inked the watercolor wash stamp with Tim Holtz Distress ink in different green shades. I used the Misti Stamping Tool to re-stamp the image several times. The first time I stamped the image is all pure distress ink on the stamp. I re-inked the image, spritz water to it and re-stamped it. I repeated this process once more without re-inking the image this time to create some shade variations. If I have some un-inked areas, I re-inked that area of the stamp then re-stamped it.

After I have covered up the panel with the watercolor wash stamped images. I lined up the outline leaf stamp to the watercolor wash impression. I stamped the leaf with Versafine Onyx Black ink. Since this is a large, detailed stamp, I had to re-stamp it a couple of times. I trimmed off an 8th of an inch around the sides and adhered it to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" black cardstock.

I used the Concord and 9th Love You So die to create the main sentiment. I cut a green shimmer cardstock. The you sentiment is from the Concord & 9th Map Love stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder on a black cardstock. I adhered the Love die cut next to it. I trimmed the black cardstock and adhered this to the center of the watercolor panel. I drew a line close to the edge of this sentiment block using a black Sakura Glaze pen. I adhered some Doodlebug enamel dots on the top right.

As last embellishment, I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze White Blizzard to the letters. At first, I thought, I just ruined the whole card by adding this thick blob of shimmer glue. After setting it aside to dry then coming back to it, look at the shimmer and glitter effect it created. Very pretty! I adhered this panel to a top folding A2 note card to finish off the project

Digital Stamp Shaker Card

We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. It is a Photo Inspiration Challenge featuring the photo below to be used as inspiration.

I am using an image from our sponsor, Lemon Shortbread. I colored the images using Copic markers and Prisma color pencils. For the girl, I colored her like an Anime character with yellow hair. For her clothing, I colored it with the Hello Kitty Cafe color motif. The cupcakes were colored using the colors of the shake in the photo inspiration.

I partially die cut the image using the Pretty Pink Posh Windows Frame Die. This was a brave move in my part because I can easily go wrong here by putting the cutting plates incorrectly. I did have a boo-boo on the purple cupcake side but after giving that much time into coloring this image, I am going to move forward with the design.

I added details to the cut image. I added small dots of gold Nuvo Drops to the cupcake frosting using a pin. This allows you to control the amount of enamel accent you apply on your project. I just squirted a blob of Nuvo Drop on a scrap paper, picked it up with the tip of a needle, then applied it to the image. I also used the needle to apply red Stickles to the cherries. I added shimmer to the girl's clothing and hat using a clear Spetrum Noir Shimmer pen. I added a small die cut heart to the girl's hat, added shimmer to this, then applied Ranger Glossy Accents to it.

For the shaker window, I cut a frame using the two largest dies from the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies. I am using a Studio Calico 6x6 patterned paper. For the background, I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" kraft colored cardstock. I am using a sentiment from a Hampton Arts Doodlebug stamp set. I am using the Misti Stamping tool for repeated stamping and embossing. I double embossed the sentiment using Wow! Rich Pale Gold embossing powder. I wasn't satisfied with the effect and I didn't want to pitch this panel, so for the last embossed layer, I used a red Ranger embossing powder. This created a customized metallic red sentiment which almost looked like a metal embellishment due to the repeated embossing.

To create the shaker panel, I adhered the digital image to the bottom portion of the rectangle frame. I adhered the clear plastic to the back of the frame. I adhered foam tapes to the back of the rectangle frame and the digital image. I added Doodlebug sequins to this well. I adhered the kraft cardstock onto this, creating the shaker card panel. This is adhered to a top folding note card. As a last finishing touch, I added shimmer to the window frame.

Stamp Tracing on Kraft Cardstock

This is my second card for today's Incy Wincy Designs Challenge using a digi stamp from one of our sponsors. I got my inspiration from Jennifer McGuire. Do check out her blog post on stamp tracing which includes a video on the technique.

I printed the image on kraft cardstock. The cardstock I am using is from Papelmeroti, a gift shop in the Philippines. This is one of the treasures I brought back to my craft stash during my visit to my parents & sister in the Philippines. Papelmeroti's kraft cardstock is thinner, darker and about half an inch longer than the cardstock bought here in the US. Fuzzy cutting the image is actually easy because of how thin the cardstock is.

I colored the image with Pentel Juice pastel gel pens which has 6 colors only. I used Prismacolor pencils to add accents to the images. I fuzzy cut the heart wreath image leaving a thin border around it. I cut a pink vellum big enough to cover the opening of the heart wreath. I embossed the vellum using Ellen Hutson Stitching Dies. I adhered the vellum to the back of the digital die cut. I adhered foam adhesive to the back for dimension.

For the card base, I am using a Bazzil cardstock, I partially embossed the front of the card using Li'l Inker Designs Quilted Swirl Stitch Pattern die. To the area not embossed, I heat embossed the sentiment from Honey Bee Bless Your Heart stamp set.

I poured some flower sequins behind the vellum to create a muted shaker card. The vellum somehow conceals the shaker elements. I used flower sequins from Simon Says Stamp and flower sequins from the Philippines. Using an acetate can be another option instead of using vellum if you want to showcase your shaker elements. I adhered this digital die cut to the card front. There is a bit of overhang on the design so this card will need a bigger sized envelope.

I added sparkle to some of the images using Wink of Stella. I adhered butterfly sequins (another treasure from the Philippines). I applied Tonic Nuvo Crystal Drops on top of the butterflies, and near the sentiment. As last step, I rounded the corners using We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

Thanks for viewing my blog. Have a blessed & brilliant day!
