A Doodlebug WCMD Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Belated World Card Making Day! WCMD is celebrated every first Saturday of October. I look forward to it every year because of the card making challenges held by blogs and/or crafting companies. The Doodlebug challenges are a favorite of mine. This is a great way to use my stash of Doodlebug products.

I am using patterned papers from Sugar Shoppe and Christmas Town. Who says you only need to use Christmas products for Christmas only? The B side of the Christmas Town paper is full of red hearts making it convenient to use on other occasions. I inked the edges of these patterned papers with coordinating color inks. I spritz and flicked blue Mica spray to the blue patterned paper panel for a bit of shimmer.

I am following a sketch, as seen below. I added a pink strip of cardstock to follow this sketch. I added a stitch detail to this strip using a retired Trinity Stamps die.

For the other elements of the sketch, I used the Sweet Stamps and Happy Mail washi tapes. The Sweet Stamps washi tape has perforations which you can tear making it look like a real stamp. I love it! I also love washi tapes with sentiments on it, just like the Happy Mail washi tape. You can substitute this for a stamped sentiment on a card any time. Not to forget, these washi tapes have the cute Doodlebug icons and fonts on it. Love it!

Washi tapes have a bit of transparency to it. I trimmed a scrap cardstock, smaller than the stamps, and adhere the stamp washi tape to it. I added a bit of liquid adhesive where needed to prevent the washi tape from peeling off. I adhered this to the patterned paper panel following the sketch. I stamped the wavy cancellation lines over some of the washi stamps using a Ranger Archival Black ink. I used the Misti Stamping Tool to stamp this lines just in case I need to re-stamp this since the stamp has a bit of dimension.

I trimmed the Happy Mail washi tape to make it slimmer. Before adhering it to the patterned paper panel, I stamped a circular imprint and a subsentiment to the panel. I adhered the Happy Mail sentiment which has a two layers of cardstock underneath it for a bit of dimension.

I hope you like today's card. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Negative Alphabet Die Cut Panel Birthday Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. This card is a left-over supply from a previous card I created using letter dies (Washi Tape Letter Die Cuts). When I made that card, I strategically die cut the letters so I can use the negative cuts left over by the letter die cuts. It took a while for me to come back to it but now, I was able to find time to finish it. I am glad that I did not lose any inner part of the letters.

This panel will not be needing a lot since it pretty much covers the whole front panel of the card. But to step it up, I created this into a shaker card. I adhered an acetate to the back of the negative die cut panel. I adhered the inside letter die cuts on the front of the acetate. I cut slim pieces of foam tape to create wells for each line of sentiment.

For the shakers, I used the small dies included in the Trinity So Appreciative coordinating die set. Unfortunately, this stamp and die sets are already retired. Look at your stash. I am pretty sure you will find a small, shaped die that can take the place of the dies I used for this card.

Like I mentioned, the dies I used have a coordinating stamp which I did not use on this card. The small, shaped dies can stand on its own. One of the die cuts looks like a crown but believe me, its coordinating stamp is not near of a crown image. But it works.

I die cut these dies on various cardstocks. It is a lot of work. If you don't want to do the die cutting, you can substitute this with sequins and/or gems.

Adhering the welled panel to a cardstock does not make the letters pop due to the busy pattern of the washi tape. To fix this, I die cut the letters on Gold and Curry Cardstocks using the same dies I used for the negative die cut panel, the Trinity Marshmallow Alphabet die set. Since these letters will show through the acetate, I need to align it with the letters on the negative die cut panel. I pieced the letters to the front panel. I picked the letters with a Glad Press-N-Seal to keep the placement intact. In hindsight, if I do this card again, I will adhere the letters to the back panel first using the negative cut panel as a guide before adhering the acetate to the back of the negative cut panel.

I added dots of glue to the back of the letters. I adhered the letters to a black cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", slightly offsetting it. I carefully peeled off the Glad Press-N-Seal, then run my hand over the letters to better adhere the letters to the panel.

I added my shaker elements on top of the letters. Each line of sentiment has a different shaped die cut. I did not put a lot since I don't want the shakers to cover up the letters on the background.

Since I cut both panels at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", lining it up was easy especially with the use of the Misti Stamping Tool.

I embellished the front with the extra die cuts. I layered some of the die cuts for dimension. I painted the Curry die cuts with a gold shimmer pen. I added gems to the silver die cuts.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Washi Tape Letter Die Cuts (Craft My Stash #23)

Hello! Welcome back to my blog, and to another post on my Craft My Stash series. This series intends to feature craft products that have been in my stash needing some tender loving touch. For today's post, I am featuring the washi tape. Who doesn't have some washi tape in their stash? I think I got too crazy with my washi tapes. Can't get enough, right? I still buy washi tapes but I am more selective this time.

At the same time, I created this card for Trinity Stamps. They are celebrating their 4th year. Trinity Stamps is the first company who took me under their wing by being one of their Ambassadors last year. I am truly thankful for the opportunity they gave me. It is just right to join in their celebration and wish them more crafty years to come.

The colors of the card is inspired by the latest Color Hues Challenge as linked below.

I adhered the polka dotted washi tape on white cardstock, lining up the circles to achieve a continuous pattern. I overlapped the washi tape just to achieve this look. I burnished the washi tape to the cardstock using a bone folder to remove any bubbles and smoothen out the washi tape. I repeated this process using a chevron black and white washi tape.

I die cut the washi tape panels using the Trinity Stamps Marshmallow Alphabet die set to spell out the Happy Birthday greeting. I adhered the chevron patterned letters to the back of the polka dotted letters, slightly offsetting it to create a shadow. I set this aside.

For the card panel, I trimmed a black cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I taped this panel to the back of the Newton Nook Designs Confetti Stencil. I blended a yellow pigment ink to the stencil. After I covered the whole panel, I removed the stencil. I pounced some Ranger Perfect Pearl Lemon Sparkle to the inked impressions while the pigment ink is still wet. I wiped off the excess powder with a rag. I spritz water to the air and fan the panel to it, just to help set the powder.

For the pennants, would you believe that this is also a washi tape? I adhered this to a black cardstock strip. I colored the pennants with a yellow alcohol marker. Word of caution, test your marker on the washi tape first. The black color on my washi tape transferred to the alcohol marker tip. Although the black tint disappeared with repeated flicking of the marker tip on paper, it discolored the marker nib permanently. I ruined one of my Copic nibs that's why I switched to the marker chisel end in coloring the rest of the pennants.

I fussy cut the pennants, leaving a small border around it. I adhered this to the black cardstock panel. I adhered the letters next. I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.

Weaved Washi Tape Greeting Card (Craft My Stash #14)

Hello! Welcome back to another Craft My Stash post. Today, I am featuring the Pebbles This Is Family Collection and The Stamp Market Weaving Cards Die.

I die cut a heavy weight cardstock using the smallest die in the set. I added a white crochet thread for weaving.

I adhered the washi tape to strips of cardstock for some stability as I weave it through the crochet thread. Some washi tapes are translucent. It will pick up the color of the paper you decide to use as backing. You can appreciate this on the above heart. I used one washi tape but backed it with a patterned paper and two different colored cardstock strips. I weaved these strips through the crochet thread.

I trimmed several patterned papers from the collection into 4" x 5 1/4". I die cut a heart window on these panels using a die from the Hero Arts Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies.

I trimmed several colored cardstocks to matte the window panel. I temporarily taped the weaved washi tape on the heart window front. I added foam tapes around the weaved washi tape. I added liquid adhesive to the back of the weaved washi. I positioned this on the colored cardstock panel and pressed the weaved washi to it. Now, I can remove the backing of the foam adhesive and adhere it to the colored cardstock making sure it is on the right spot.

I adhered sentiment banners from the coordinating ephemera set to the front panel.

I adhered this to a top folding note card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Trifold Card-New Craft Stash #9

Hello! I am featuring the Simon Says Stamp You Have My Heart die. I always have eyes for sentiment dies with shadow dies. Before, I will just fussy cut around a sentiment which offers some challenges every now and then. The shadow dies on the other hand, produces a cleaner cut. And makes it a lot easier. But I did not use the shadow die in this creation of mine.

I know it might be too early for Valentine's but some crafting companies are already showing previews of their Valentine's release. Also, when I purchase this product, my plan is to use if for a future Valentine's project so I think creating a Valentine's card this early should be okay. What do you think?

I cut a Hero Arts pink cardstock at 11" x 4 1/4". I scored this at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4" to create a long trifold card. I die cut two hearts using the same colored cardstock and using the largest sized heart from the HA Nesting Hearts die. I dry embossed one of the hearts using American Crafts Amy Tan Love Spun embossing folder. I adhered the other heart to the back of this embossed heart for extra support since I will use this as a flap. I inked the edges of the heart with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tattered Rose using the Ranger Blending Tool.

For one of the flaps, I adhered some washi tape to create a diagonal striped background. I trimmed off the excess.

I embossed the other flap with a dotted embossing folder. I lightly blended THDI Tattered Rose to this embossed flap using a blending brush.

I die cut the sentiment on a red and white cardstock. I adhered the red sentiment die cut on top of the white sentiment die cut for a raised look. I repeated this process on the heart that get cuts with the die. I applied Spectrum Noir Solar Red Sparkle to the letters. I added clear Zig Wink of Stella for more shimmer.

I adhered the heart more towards the right flap. I adhered the sentiment die cut on top of the heart. I adhered the heart on the center of the letter o. I added Ranger Glossy Accent to this heart and set this aside to dry.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
