Hello! I am at the Blank Page Muse Blog with card. The month is almost over as the team celebrates friendship, kindness and gratitude. I created a clean and simple card and intentionally finished it off without a sentiment. I can always personalize it when the time to comes to give it away.

Easter Treat Boxes

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. For today's project, I created an Easter Treat Box which can be filled with candy, chocolate, messages or just about anything as long as it fits inside. I used images from the Kat Scrappiness Easter Quokkas stamp set as box toppers. 

The treat box was cut using a Cricut Explore with the assistance of the Cricut Design Space. There are plenty of cut image files to choose from but I decided to use a cut from the images I already owned. The great thing about the CDS is that it allowed me to edit the cut image. On the original cut image, the box topper is a snowflake. I 'sliced' the snowflake off and 'welded' an arch shape in place. The snowflake was vital to the box design since it does not only adds decor to the box but it is also closes the box. 

The CDS also allowed me to 'attach' a score line on the treat box cut file. My cut file is originally from a cartridge so I had to do this unlike the new images in which this is already attached to the file for the user's convenience. You can always use a scoring tool to add the fold lines as another option. 

I used a light weight double sided patterned paper for the treat box. I highly suggest using a medium or heavy weight paper when creating a treat box. I found the colors of the patterned paper very Easter colors that's why I opted to use it.

I stamped the quokkas on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink which is a watercolor friendly ink. I colored the images with Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. You can color direct to paper and blend the color out with a water brush which I did in some areas. But for areas that I want the color to be light, I scribbled the color on a palette then picked the ink with the water brush. I dried the color with a heat tool in between layers.

I die cut the images using the coordinating die making sure that the image is dry before die cutting to prevent any transfer of color to the cutting plate. I die cut an extra piece on white cardstock.

I adhered the stamped quokka on a closure tab. I had to trim the tab smaller on some of the boxes so it will not show once I adhere the quokka. I adhered the white die cut to the back of the stamped die cut to hide the tab for a finished look.

I trimmed the other closure tab smaller to hide it on the back of the of the quokka box topper.

Clean and Simple Easter Card

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. This month's challenge is on Easter Wishes +/or Gifts from the Bunny. Our sponsor for this month's challenge is Beccy's Place. 

I printed the images on watercolor paper. I colored the images using Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. I applied pigment from the watercolor brush pens to a palette. I applied water to the images using a water brush. I then picked the pigment then applied the pigment to the image. It is easier to build up the color to a lightly colored image compared to lightening a heavily pigmented colored image. Even if these are water markers, sometimes the pigment gets stucked to the paper.

I fussy cut the images leaving a white border around it. 

For the sentiment, I die cut this on watercolor paper using a die. Luckily, the letters did not fell off making it easy for me to water color it. I die cut these letters two more times on scrap white cardstock. I adhered the letters on top of each other for more dimension. I added shimmer as a top coating for the letters.

I opted to create a clean and simple card but I wanted to create an ink blended background for the Easter Rabbit. I have so many acetates that I decided to create a stencil with an egg shaped opening. I kept this home made stencil, including the negative cut for future use. 

I adhered the elements of the card. I adhered the bunny with foam adhesive. I curled the ends of the banner for some dimension.

Using Paper Scraps for a Background

 

Hello! Welcome back! It is time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. For the month of May, the challenge is to Use a Die Cut or a Punch. The dies I am using for this card are Hero Arts Puzzle die, Lawn Fawn Square Stitched die and Avery Elle Simple Sentiments die.

Our sponsor for this challenge is The Paper Shelter. I linked below the image I used on this card. I printed the image on white cardstock. I colored it with Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush pens by applying the pigment to a palette, then picking it up with a water brush. I die cut this into a square using a stitched die.

Now for the background panel, I used the puzzle die to cut scraps of paper from a My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad. I first embossed the puzzle on a scrap of white cardstock. This served as a guide as to where to adhere the puzzle pieces once it is die cut. I die cut a scrap cardstock using the same die. This time, I used these die cuts as a guide in cutting the scraps of patterned paper. I adhered a full stick Post-It Note to the back of this. Yes, it took a lot of time but once I had a system, it went by smoothly. The puzzle pieces, when die cut, are usually still stuck to each other so you don't end up with a puzzle that you don't know how to put back together especially when the paper used is a plain cardstock. I separated the puzzle pieces two at a time. I trimmed the patterned paper a little bit bigger than the puzzle piece. The guide puzzle piece helped me in looking for its spot on the die. I used a magnet cutting board to prevent the die from shifting when I run it through the die cut machine. I was trying to avoid using a lot of tape, although there were a few occasions that I had to resort to using a low tack tape. After I cut two pieces, I immediately adhered this to the embossed puzzle panel. I return the puzzle piece back to the Post-it Note backed puzzle piece. I repeated this process until I filled the whole panel. A lot of work, I know but it was very fulfilling for me once I finished the puzzle.

I matted the stitched image die cut with one of the patterned papers in the pack. I only wanted a thin outline, so I traced the stitched die on the patterned paper and used a paper trimmer to cut it. 

I adhered this to the puzzle panel. I created a sentiment strip by embossing a sentiment stamp from Altenew Adore You stamp set to one of the patterned papers. I embossed this with a white embossing powder. I created it into a sentiment strip using the die.

Cute Donuts Hello Friend Card (Crafting Away From Home #6)

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The theme for this challenge is Kindness/Fondness Or Add Lace. 

This is my sixth post in my series of Crafting Away From Home. If you have time, do check out the rest of the cards I created in this series.

I pre-printed the image on Strathmore Bristol paper. I brought with me a Doodlebug notecard, Doodlebug Paper Doilies and an alphabet sticker set. The other craft supplies that I brought with me that was used to create this card are precision tip scissors, adhesive runner, Akashiya Sai watercolor pens, water brush pen and white gel pen. If I can add more products to bring for this card, I would have added some sequins and the Sakura Black Glaze pen. I also would have put a push pin on the liquid glue that I brought with me to prevent the glue from clogging the nozzle. 

I colored the image with Akashiya Sai watercolor pens. I added white dots to the critters for some detail. I fussy cut the image leaving a white small border around it. If I was at home, I would have cut the circle centers of the donuts using a circle punch or a circle die. 

I adhered the doilies to the front of the card. I added small green and blue splatters so it will coordinate with the colors of the alphabet stickers. I cut off the excess by following the outline of the card front.

I adhered strips of the excess watercolor paper to the back of the fussy cut image to create some dimension. I adhered this to the front of the card. 

I adhered the alphabet stickers using a grid transparency sheet to center the sentiment. I partially stamped the word friend on a scrap watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. The stamp is from Concord & 9th Rainbow Sayings stamp set. After this has dried, I fussy cut this leaving a small white border around it.

Fall Inspired Greeting Card (Crafting Away From Home #3)

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The theme of the challenge is Halloween And/Or Be Thankful. I am the author of this challenge. We have two sponsors for this challenge.

This post is also the third of my Crafting Away From Home series. I pre-printed the image at home on Strathmore Bristol paper. I also chose the patterned papers I will use for this card which is from Simple Stories Autumn Splendor. I also brought the coordinating ephemera pack just in case I will be able to use it.

I used the only color medium I brought with me, the Akashiya Sai Watercolor brush pens, to color the image. I trimmed the panel using a trimmer which I brought with me, too. I just eyeballed trimming the colored panel. Luckily, it came out at 4"x 4" which was perfect for my layout. 

I used the Misti Stamping Tool to measure the patterned paper. I placed a mark at the 4 1/4" and used this as a guide where to trim the paper, then trimmed 1/2" off the other side to make it into 5 1/2" long.

For the sentiment, I fussy cut one of the cut apart patterned papers. To add dimension, I adhered left over watercolor papers behind the fussy cut sentiment. I adhered this to a strip of orange patterned paper. 

I adhered the strip and the watercolored panel to the patterned paper panel. I added photo corners to the watercolored panel by cutting up a left over patterned paper into triangles.

Rainbow Colors Inspired Greeting Card (Crafting Away From Home #2)

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The challenge theme is Rainbow/Multicolour And/Or Monsters. 

At the same time, welcome to a new blog series called  Crafting Away From Home. This is my second post on this series. Technically, this is the first project I made away from home. Unlike my first series post, this card has a schedule to go live. 

I hardly create away from home because I feel that I do not bring enough craft supplies that I will need to create a card. But I am away from home for awhile. I planned the projects that I need and wanted to create. I am making sure that my projects will be using  similar supplies. I printed and stamped my images as well as part of that craft away from home planning.

The images are printed on Strathmore Bristol paper. I colored the image using Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush pen. I applied the color on a palette and picked it up with a water brush. I fussy cut the image leaving a small white border around the image. 

For the card panel, I trimmed a 5 1/2" and a 4 1/4" heavy weight Neenah Solar white cardstock. I applied a light wash of color. Not the most ideal paper to do this technique but it is the only paper I brought with me. The paper warped a little but once it was adhered to a note card, the warping is unnoticeable.

I planned the layout of my images and the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment using a stamp from Concord & 9th Rainbow Sayings stamp set and Versafine Onyx Black ink. I set this aside to dry.

I was not able to bring some foam tape with me. I really want some dimension so I cut little pieces of scrap Bristol paper. I layered it and adhered it to the back of the image. I adhered the images to the panel. 

I added white gel pen details to the images.

Color Inspired Postcard (Crafting Away From Home #1)

Hello! This is one of my pre-planned projects before I left for the Philippines. The sentiment is from Trinity Stamps So Appreciative stamp set. 

To prepare for my crafting away from home, I trimmed a Strathmore Bristol paper to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I stamped the sentiment on this paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I die cut the stitched stamped frame on white cardstock. The frame is from TS Crafty Post 3x4 Stamp & Postcard die bundle. 

I trimmed a light weight paper at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I stamped the elements to create this into a postcard on this paper. The stamps I used are from the same die bundle I used for the frame. 

Now, it just needs coloring and assembling so I will I need a coloring medium and glue in my to go crafting pouch. 

I colored the panel using using Akashiya Sai Watercolor brush pens. I adhered the frame to the panel. I adhered the stamped panel to make it into a postcard. This is not suitable for mailing yet. I have to apply a sealer to the watercolored panel to protect it when mailed.

Color Hues Challenge Blog #45

Button Embellishments From Patterned Paper

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The theme is Animals And/Or Buttons. I am a day late in posting for the challenge. I got busy last week with my son's birthday and his Valentine's class give away. Then, my day offs are done, and I have to go to work. This time, I packed my crafting to go supplies. During my work downtime, I was able to color the image. This is very helpful in cutting back on the time I needed to finish this project. 

The image is printed on Strathmore Bristol paper. I colored the image with Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. To mute down the pigment, I applied the color to a palette, picked it up with a water brush pen and applied the ink to the image. 

I die cut the colored image using the egg die from Paper Smooches Easter Eggs die set. I matted this with a green card stock which I die cut using one of the oval dies from the Hero Arts Nesting Oval die set. I adhered the watercolored panel with foam adhesive. 

The sentiment is from the Studio Katia Floral Cross stamp set. I die cut a banner to stamp this on using a die from the Lawn Fawn Fancy Folded Banners die set. I did partial die cutting to extend the length of the banner so the sentiment will fit. I stamped the sentiment using a green ink. I poured clear embossing powder to this, then heat set it. 

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Forever Friends patterned paper from my stash. I adhered the matted watercolored panel and the sentiment banner to this. 

For the buttons, I die cut these buttons from the same patterned paper pack. I die cut extra circles using the excess patterned paper. I stacked these circles on top of each other with the button on top to add dimension. I lined the edges with a brown marker. I poked the holes on the stacked button die cut and threaded a white DMC embroidery floss through it. I knotted the floss on the front. I applied Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen to the buttons. I adhered this buttons to the panel.

Challenge #279

Nativity Scene Card

Hello! I created this card to join in Honey Bee Stamps Facebook Challenge on Traditional Holiday Designs. 

I modified the stamp image from the Honey Bee Christ Is Born stamp set by taking off some of the elements included in the large nativity stamp set. I could have used the house in the stamp but I already cut the dark blue house that backs the roof and the beams cuts. I did not want the time, effort and resource put to waste. 

Another modification I made is to stamp the star a bit farther from the house. To be able to do this, I masked the rays on the stamp to avoid inking it with Versamark ink. 

Creating the rays is the most courageous part of creating this card since I foiled this part. Luckily, it did not turn out too bad despite some imperfection.

I also modified the ground of the manger, extending it on the sides to cover the whole panel of the vertical card. 

This scene reminds me of our cardboard stand-up nativity scene at the Philippines which I grew up to, propping it under our Christmas tree. We don't have our own nativity scene here in St. Louis. It sure is nice to have one.

Home Themed Card

Hello! This is a very timely card with the social distancing being encouraged to control the spread of CoVid 19. I hope you are safe, wherever you are. 

I am using Pebbles This Is Family collection for this card. My previous post entitled Sketch Inspired Srapbook Lay Out features this collection too. 

I trimmed the house patterned paper to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I colored the houses with Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. I colored these houses using the colors on the sentiment as a guide. This sentiment is cut from one of the patterned papers. Although there are other elements in this collection that has the same sentiment, I like the font and size of this sentiment. 

I looked through the ephemera pack and found these two house shaped sentiment die cuts. There are only two house die cuts in the ephemera pack. To keep up with the rule of three's, I created a third house by tracing the skinny house on a white card stock. I covered the back part of this white card stock with washi tape. I cut the house by following the pencil lines. I added a goid foiled sticker to the center of the house.

I traced the letters on the sentiment with a We R Memory Keepers Quill Glue, poured clear embossing powder to it, then heat set it. I applied some shimmer to the hearts using a clear Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter pen.

To mute down the colored background, I cut a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" vellum. To create a ground for the houses, I adhered the copper colored washi tape to a scrap strip of card stock. I added texture to this washi strip by running it through the crimper tool. I have not used this tool for a really long time. Do you still have yours?

I adhered the vellum panel to the water colored patterned paper by applying adhesive to the back of the embellishments. This hides the adhesive and secures the vellum to the water colored patterned paper.

Digi. Stamp With a Little Bit of Foiling, and Stitched Tag

Hello! I created this tag to participate in Gerda Steiner Designs February Share Your Designs Challenge. I am using a Gerda Steiner Digital Stamp Freebie called Coffee Mouse. I had this printed on Neenah Solar White card stock. I colored the image with Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. This color medium did not work with the Neenah for me. I had difficulty blending the colors.

I die cut a kraft card stock using a tag die from The Stamp Market. This set also comes with the die that will create the holes for stitching. The holes created were not large enough for the area that I want to stitch on so I ran the tag with this die twice, making sure I lined the hole to the cutting die. I stitched the end holes using a red DMC floss, just to create an outline. I added cross stitching to the bottom of the outline.

I cut a gold foil, large enough to cover the sentiment included on the digital image. I covered the sentiment with the foil, sandwiched this inside a typing paper, and fed it through the Minc machine. I didn't get good foil coverage on my first try. After I repositioned the foil, I fed this again through the Minc machine without much change in results. There is some shimmer. I was just hoping to have all of the sentiment foiled.

I cut the digital stamp panel small enough to fit inside the stitched frame. I adhered this to the tag. I die cut another kraft card stock, and adhered this to the back of the stitched tag to cover the holes and the taped ends of the floss.

I layered a small sequin heart on the cup. I triple tied a bow using a twine and adhered this to the top of the tag.

Gerda Steiner Designs Stamp Blog~February 2020

Cat Christmas Card

Hello! I created this card to join in Gerda Steiner's Share Your Designs Challenge. I am using a free Gerda Steiner printable image called Kitten Bookmark-Relax A Little. I edited the image, removing the sentiment in the banner and keeping it blank so I can customize my sentiment. I printed the image on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper. I colored the image using Akashiya Sax watercolor brush pens. I colored the image with my sister's cat, Carlito, as my model. I used the Marvy Snow Marker on the fuzzy areas of the snow hat for some dimension. I also added Ranger Enamel Accent for the eyes.

I painted the banner using Zig Gansai Tambi watercolor. I applied several layers of paint, heating it dry in between layers. I fussy cut the image. I lined the edges with a Memento Tuxedo Black marker for a finished look.

For the sentiment, I die cut letters to form the word joy. I am using Hero Arts Fancy Dies Alpha Uppercase. I die cut each letter several times using Pebbles Merry, Merry patterned papers. I adhered each letter on top of each other for a raised look. I adhered this to the banner area. I added shimmer to these letters using Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss pen. I added snowflakes to the banner to fill the empty space around the letters, and also for additional shimmer.

Still using the Pebbles Merry, Merry patterned papers, I trimmed one patterned paper at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I heat embossed a poinsettia image on this patterned paper using a stamp from Paper Smooches Merry Motifs. The embossing powder is Ranger Holographic embossing powder.

I trimmed a wide strip of peach dotted paper at 2" x 4". I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Abandoned Coral Distress ink. I adhered this to the embossed patterned paper panel. I adhered the cat using foam adhesive for some dimension.
