Hello! Welcome back to my blog. For today's project, I created an Easter Treat Box which can be filled with candy, chocolate, messages or just about anything as long as it fits inside. I used images from the Kat Scrappiness Easter Quokkas stamp set as box toppers.
The treat box was cut using a Cricut Explore with the assistance of the Cricut Design Space. There are plenty of cut image files to choose from but I decided to use a cut from the images I already owned. The great thing about the CDS is that it allowed me to edit the cut image. On the original cut image, the box topper is a snowflake. I 'sliced' the snowflake off and 'welded' an arch shape in place. The snowflake was vital to the box design since it does not only adds decor to the box but it is also closes the box.
The CDS also allowed me to 'attach' a score line on the treat box cut file. My cut file is originally from a cartridge so I had to do this unlike the new images in which this is already attached to the file for the user's convenience. You can always use a scoring tool to add the fold lines as another option.
I used a light weight double sided patterned paper for the treat box. I highly suggest using a medium or heavy weight paper when creating a treat box. I found the colors of the patterned paper very Easter colors that's why I opted to use it.
I stamped the quokkas on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink which is a watercolor friendly ink. I colored the images with Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. You can color direct to paper and blend the color out with a water brush which I did in some areas. But for areas that I want the color to be light, I scribbled the color on a palette then picked the ink with the water brush. I dried the color with a heat tool in between layers.
I die cut the images using the coordinating die making sure that the image is dry before die cutting to prevent any transfer of color to the cutting plate. I die cut an extra piece on white cardstock.
I adhered the stamped quokka on a closure tab. I had to trim the tab smaller on some of the boxes so it will not show once I adhere the quokka. I adhered the white die cut to the back of the stamped die cut to hide the tab for a finished look.
I trimmed the other closure tab smaller to hide it on the back of the of the quokka box topper.
I hope you like today's project. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Valentine is around the corner. Today's project features a treat box in which you can put a treat or a simple message inside. I got my inspiration from a Paper Source Cute Mini Books Valentine Card Set. I challenged myself to recreate this mini book using supplies I have on hand.
My box is larger and slimmer than the Paper Source mini book. The cover of my book treat box is from a cut apart patterned paper. For the cover of the book, I cut a pink cardstock at 8 1/2" x 4". I chose pink cardstock to match the cut apart paper. I scored this piece at 3" and 3 1/2" creating the spine of the book.
For the inside portion of the book which will be the treat well, I cut a white cardstock at 3 3/4" x 5 3/4". I scored the long end at 1/2" and 3 1/4". I scored the short end at 1/2", 1", 2 3/4" and 3 1/4". I reinforced the folds. I cut off the corners and cut the tabs vertically as shown in the photos below.
I folded the tabs on the long side inward. These tabs will be secured by the flap of the short side as seen in the photo below. Adding adhesive to the tabs can be an option but the fold holds the tabs securely keeping the treat well intact.
I adhered this treat well to the back inside cover of the pink book cover cut-out.
I trimmed another white cardstock at 3 1/2" x 3 3/4". I scored the long end at 1/2". I trimmed a sliver off this tab. I cut the ends diagonally then reinforced the fold. I adhered this to the front inside cover of the book cut out. This piece keeps the book closed shut.
I adhered the cut apart paper to the front of the book.
I could have added more details to this treat box but this was my demo piece. I usually create a demo piece to help me figure out issues with the creation of the project and come up with solutions so I can create the project.
If I am going to re-create this:
I will add a message on the book spine.
I will stamp the 'handmade by' on the back of the book cover before adding the treat well.
I will add lines to the sides of the treat well to mimic the pages of a book.
I can make the book broader to accommodate a bigger treat.
I will stamp a sentiment to the inside of the treat well before adhering the sides.
Lots of possibilities with this treat box. You can also use the 3x3 cut apart sheet for a smaller book.
My youngest son is grown up now, not really wanting to give Valentines to his friends. I sure miss those days when creating Valentine giveaways kept me busy.
Below is a short video featuring this treat box. I hope you like it. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Happy Valentine's Day! I created these mechanical pencil Valentine's giveaways for my youngest son's 5th grade class.
I added washi tape to each mechanical pencil to customize each pencil. I printed each recipient's name using a label maker.
For the heart, I die cut scraps of cardstock using a heart die from HoneyBee Paper Hugs Honey Cuts. I die cut a circle on the lower left portion of the heart. I will thread the tip of the pencil through this hole, sort of like an arrow piercing the heart. I embossed the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder. I added heart details using a stencil and a red ink. I also blended ink on the sides of the heart to give it a vintage look.
I truly enjoyed making this project because all of the supplies I used are readily available in my craft room. The mechanical pencils were bought at the start of school. My senior did some school supply panic buying at that time. Too much school supplies that the mechanical pencils can last him through college.
The cardstock/patterned papers used for the hearts are from my paper scrap box. I used the scraps that are large enough to cut the heart.
I have tons of washi tapes! One washi tape design for a pencil makes the pencil unique on its own.
I also have tons of heart die cuts that I keep in a container. I used this to accent my son's name.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
Hello! Welcome back to my blog! For today's project, I am extending the use of a cover plate die by doing a bit of surgery on the die cut. I am using the Christmas Tree Coverplate die from Kat Scrappiness which die cuts a panel that you can use on the front of a card. The focal image of this die is the Christmas tree on the center. After I die cut this on a green patterned paper, I cut off the tree from the panel to create a shaped die cut.
I die cut 6 pieces using the cover plate die on a green marbled patterned paper. Using a pointed edge scissors, I cut off the tree from each cover plate die cut. The fussy cutting might not come out perfect but once the ornament is made, these imperfections are hardly noticeable. I carefully folded the tree in half, lining up the sides. Starting the fold on the trunk makes the guess work easy of where to fold the tree.
I traced the outer edge of the tree on gold shimmer vellum until I came up with 6 pieces of trees. I fussy cut these trees using the outline as guide. It will still end up bigger than the tree die cut which is alright. It will be trimmed off later.
I adhered the vellum to the back of the tree die cuts, lining it up carefully. I placed something heavy over it while the liquid glue dries up. As I mentioned earlier, there are areas where there is an overhang of vellum. I carefully cut this off, following the outline of the tree die cut.
I carefully folded the trees using the previous fold marks as guide. I applied dots of liquid glue to the back, on the vellum side, making sure I placed them on areas where it gets hidden by the die cut. I adhered the half folded tree to the another half folded tree, making sure the edges are aligned.
Once I adhered 3 half folded trees, I added a twine in the center of the folded trees which extends up to the top of the tree. I continued adhering the half folded trees until all 6 trees are adhered together, and the twine is in the center of the trees.
I added red sequins and baubles to the tree for decoration. I also added red Stickles to the center of the sequins.
One of the circles on the tree die cut got folded in half since it is located at the bottom center of the tree. A sequin and bauble will not work because of the fold. I can't just leave it green colored too. I could have snipped this off but too late for that now. To cover this part, I die cut a red glitter cardstock with a sequin die. I folded the sequin die cut in half and adhered it to that part of the tree.
Another variation you can create out this die cut is to create it as a table decor. As you can see on the photo above, the tree can stand by itself.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope this project inspires you to give your dies a second look and see if you can create something else other than what it is intended for.
Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created a quick project for my son to give to his teammates in Cross Country. This reminds me of why I love Halloween. When most of my sons were still in grade school, I always jazz up their Halloween giveaways to their classmates. I created around 60 giveaways for my three sons. So, this project was easy for me to pull through since I only have to create for 9 people.
I pulled out all my Halloween themed patterned paper scraps large enough to fit the spiderweb die from Kat Scrappiness Creepy Crawly die set. I die cut two pieces of each patterned paper. The quickest way to get remove those small negative cuts is to use a Spellbinders Tool n' One. The rolling wire brush helps in popping out those small pieces off the spiderweb die cut.
Temporarily secure two spiderwebs with a tape, making sure the same side of patterned paper is facing each other. Although the spiderwebs are not an exact match when mirrored, the imperfection is very forgiving. Using a circle die large enough for the lollipop, I die cut a circle window on the center of the spiderweb.
Using the tape as a hinge to maintain the matched spiderwebs, I applied dots of glue to the inner side of the paired spiderwebs. I adhered the two spiderwebs together sandwiching the lollipop in between it. The lollipop is nestled perfectly inside the circle window.
I could have jazz this up some more but I am on a time crunch. My son will be giving it away in a few hours.
This is the fourth time I used the Kat Scrappiness Creepy Crawly die set. Below are the links to my other projects using this die in case you are interested.

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. For today's post, I am featuring my 4th Grader's Valentine's giveaway. It is a goodie bag created with papers and stickers from Paper Source.
The goodie bag was created using the We R Memory Keepers Goodie Bag Guide. I added an embossed belly band on the goodie bag. I added heart embossing using the We R Memory Keepers Next Level Hearts embossing folder. I used a Pebbles' Cut-Apart sheet for the Valentine's cards. I die cut this with a stitched rectangle die. I was not able to show it in the photos, but Ryan signed the cards using the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill Freestyle Pen. This is such a good way to use up those foil scraps as long as the foil is compatible with the pen.
I stamped the heart stickers using a Martha Stewart Alphabet Rubber stamp. I used Stazon ink for the stamping.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
Hello! If you have been following me, you know that Halloween is a favorite occasion of mine. This is the first class party of my son and it has been a tradition to jazz up the way his treats are given. Unfortunately, my son is not allowed to bring these Halloween treats to school. I just found out about it after I have made all of it. I should have asked his teacher first before committing to this project. It's alright. He plans to hand it out to his friends that he will be seeing while trick or treating.
I am using a file from Cricut Design Space called Cauldron Lollipop Holder. There are other amazing lollipop holder cut files but this is the one my son chose for this year's treat holder. My son chose Dumdums for his treat. A bag of Dumdums goes a long way and I did not want to keep the excess lollipops at home. After counting how much lollipops are in the bag and making my son do some math, we have come up with giving two lollipops per kid in his class, granting he will be giving it to them. Since the cut file is designed for a single lollipop, I customized the design to accommodate two lollipops through the window. Instead of a circle window, I used the contour feature to hide the circle. I cut the cauldron as a solid piece and used an oval die to cut the window. I could have edited the image in CDS, attached the oval shape to the cauldron, and had it cut by Cricut to save time.
I also added glow in the dark glitter to the bubbles. Yes, it is messy. Thanks to the Swiffer cloth, the glitter mess seems somewhat manageable. The glow is not as great since I think there is more glitter in the mix than the glow in the dark powder.
To tie in with the color of the bubbles and to protect the lollipops from the glitter, I wrapped each lollipop with a light blue tissue paper.
I sealed the cauldron with foam tape to keep the lollipops in place. I added a decorative tape to one of the lollipop sticks for some accent.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you have a safe Halloween celebration. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
Hello! Today is my son's class Valentine's party. Because of the pandemic, the party is restricted to having their Valentines snack together and exchanging Valentines which they will not read until Tuesday. Their Valentines will stay in school over the long weekend.
If you've been following me, Valentines is one of the occasions that I create classroom give aways. For this year, my son and I decided to give plantable hearts which we bought at Paper Source.
I re-packed the hearts using left over cellophane packaging. I used the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool to seal the edges of the cellophane with a square metal die as a guide.
Instead of creating a plain Valentines' card that will hold the plantable hearts, I made this into a bookmark. I cut a 12x12 colored cardstock into 12" x 3". I scored this at 5 3/4" for the center fold. I scored it again at 5 1/4" and 6 1/4" for the top fold. I will explain its purpose later on.
I die cut the letters, L, V, E. One on patterned paper and the other on cardstock. I adhered the letter cardstock die cut on the back of the letter patterned paper die cut for some dimension. The letter dies are from the Concord and 9th Love You So die set.
Using the letters as a guide, I die cut the O on the front flap of the bookmark to create a window, keeping the O letter die cut aside to be used later on.
To add a subtle background to the front flap, I stamped the My Favorite Things Typewriter Text Cling Background stamp using Hero Arts Sea Salt Reactive Ink. I masked the top flap with a Post It note. I had to change ink colors with the Mint cardstock to Simon Says Stamp Mint ink since the white ink won't show on the mint cardstock.
I adhered the L, V, E. I stamped another sentiment from the Concord and 9th Love You So stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink.
I punched a slot hole on the top flap. I will thread a ribbon through this later on.
I punched a notch on the back bottom flap, the one using We R Memory Keepers Envelope Notcher Punch. This will keep the card shut closed by inserting the front flap to the notch.
For the inside of the card, I adhered the letter O, using the window as a guide for placement. I added a removable Glue Dot on the center of the O. I adhered the packed plantable Valentines' heart to this glue dot. This will show through the window on the front panel. When the plantable hearts package is removed, the sentiment on the front will still be complete with the letter O showing through. I secured the package with a hearts washi tape.
I printed the instructions for the plantable heart on a piece of typing paper. I trimmed this and adhered it with a temporary tape runner to the bottom of the packaging.
Remember the top fold I mentioned earlier? I adhered the top fold shut with double adhesive tape. This will give some stability to the top of the bookmark. I threaded a ribbon through the slot. I squirted some glue to keep the ribbon in place. I added a bow twine to the ribbon. I used the Lawn Fawn Unicorn Tail Sparkle Cord. I squirted more glue to keep the bow intact.
My son, Ryan, wrote his name in the bottom.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
Hello! I know that this year's Halloween will be different than the usual Halloweens we are used to. I will surely miss walking my son from house to house, getting amazed by the Halloween decors, and also going through the treats my son gets for the night.
My son, who is a virtual learner, would like to do something special for his class as his way of doing Trick or Treating. His kind gesture will need some planning and coordination. The most important step is to get clearance from his homeroom teacher. Fortunately, the teacher agreed to it.
I am very proud of my son since he contributed to making this giveaways. I am so used to doing this by myself for his older brothers, when they were still younger, and for him. He was the one who chose the design of the giveaway, and what elements to use to decorate the bag. He colored the stamped images. It made it a lot easier for me.
The tomb panel was cut using Cricut on gray and black cardstocks. I spritz the gray layer with Prima Precious Stone Color Bloom to create a cobble stone look. The stamp is from Lawn Fawn Spooktacular stamp set except for the vampire, which is a Paper Smooches stamp. Ryan colored the images using Karin markers. I die cut the Lawn Fawn stamped images with the coordinating die. I fussy cut the Paper Smooches vampire stamped image. I added some highlights on the colored stamped images with glitter pens and a glaze pen. I heat embossed the sentiment on the tomb cut except for the vampire treat bag. I used vellum for the sentiment on this treat bag since the stamped image fills up most of the tomb. I adhered the stamped images on the tomb with foam adhesive.
Ryan filled the bags with two lollipops each. I will deliver this to the school today for her teacher to distribute tomorrow.
The treat bag size is 2 1/2" x 3". I cut the cardstock at 2 1/2" x 7", scored it at 3" & 4" on the long side. For the sides, I cut the cardstock at 1 1/2" x 3 1/4". I scored it at 1/4" on both of the long side, and on one of the short side. Where the scores met, I snipped off the corners. I used a double adhesive tape to close the bag up. For the handle, I am using left over strips of Halloween patterned papers from previous projects. I adhered this with a liquid glue.
Thank you for visiting my blog. However you celebrate Halloween, enjoy and stay safe.
Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. Today's theme is Books. Our sponsor for this challenge is Oddball Art Co.
I re-created a card created by Kristina Werner which featured a stamp with books. She created a bookmark as the focal point of the card. She used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers on her card.
I created a longer bookmark since I will use a slim card for a card base which measures 4" x 9 1/4".
I printed the image on Strathmore Bristol paper. I taped this to a hard board. Using the same colors as Kristina did on her card, I colored the books on a rainbow pattern although I missed the order in some parts. I colored the books alternately to allow the water color to dry and prevent color bleed. I used a water brush to blend the colors out. I also tried my best to avoid the printed lines since I noticed that it does bleed despite adjusting the printer set-up to photo print.
After I am done coloring the books, I added details to the books using Sakura White Gel pen and Prismacolor color pencils. I added a light wash of color to the background.
For the sentiment, I used a sentiment from Newton's Nook Book Club stamp set. This sentiment stamp came as a one-lined sentiment stamp. Instead of cutting the stamp, I masked the stamp so I only stamp one word at a time, and come up with a three-lined sentiment. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and also used the Misti Stamping Tool for a good impression.
I trimmed off the edges and rounded the corners with We R Memory Keepers Corner Rounder.
For the background, I cut a slim card sized black card stock. I stamped this with My Favorite Things Typewriter Text Cling Background stamp. I used the Misti Stamping Tool on this step. I removed the paper and foam from the Misti. I positioned the stamp on one of the corners of the Misti. The letters come as straight line on the stamp but I want it diagonal for extra interest. I positioned the black card stock diagonally on top of the background stamp, added temporary adhesive to the back of the card stock, and closed the Misti door to it. I treated the black card stock an anti-static pouch. I applied Versamark ink to the stamp then closed the Misti Door. I poured different colored embossing powders to the stamped area, creating a rainbow pattern. I should have used the red glitter embossing powder over the plain red embossing powder since the latter did not show up brightly on the black card stock.
Since I have a longer card than the stamp, and not to forget that my card is tilted, I was not able to stamp the whole card in one stamping. I drew a line on the back to give me an idea where to start stamping again. Doing the same process as above, using the pencil marks, I lined up my black card stock on the top edge of the background stamp, then started stamping again with Versamark. I miscalculated the gap between the edge and the first line of letters so I had a bigger gap in between these lines. To fix this, I found a dotted line stamp in my stash and stamped this on the gap to make it less noticeable.
I punched tabs to hold the bookmark using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Notcher Punch.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope to see your creations in our latest challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day! Always stay safe!
