Clean and Simple Easter Card

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. This month's challenge is on Easter Wishes +/or Gifts from the Bunny. Our sponsor for this month's challenge is Beccy's Place. 

I printed the images on watercolor paper. I colored the images using Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens. I applied pigment from the watercolor brush pens to a palette. I applied water to the images using a water brush. I then picked the pigment then applied the pigment to the image. It is easier to build up the color to a lightly colored image compared to lightening a heavily pigmented colored image. Even if these are water markers, sometimes the pigment gets stucked to the paper.

I fussy cut the images leaving a white border around it. 

For the sentiment, I die cut this on watercolor paper using a die. Luckily, the letters did not fell off making it easy for me to water color it. I die cut these letters two more times on scrap white cardstock. I adhered the letters on top of each other for more dimension. I added shimmer as a top coating for the letters.

I opted to create a clean and simple card but I wanted to create an ink blended background for the Easter Rabbit. I have so many acetates that I decided to create a stencil with an egg shaped opening. I kept this home made stencil, including the negative cut for future use. 

I adhered the elements of the card. I adhered the bunny with foam adhesive. I curled the ends of the banner for some dimension.

One Layer Watercolored Christmas Card with Foiled Sentiment

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I have not posted for a while but I am glad to be back. We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs which started on the first of this month. Our challenge themes are Cryptids/Mystical +/or Clean and Simple. As always, you can use one or both themes on your creation. Beccy's Place is our sponsor for this challenge.

I chose a reindeer for my mystical creature. The image I used is linked below. The reindeer's name is Dasher but I colored the reindeer with Rudolph in mind.

I printed the image on Canson watercolor paper using a toner printer. Before I did any coloring, I cut a Minc Foil just about the size of the sentiment. I ran this through the Minc Machine. Despite using a not so textured watercolored paper, there are areas where the foil did not stick. I fed it through the Minc Machine again without any luck in foiling the areas without foil. But that's alright. There is still enough shimmer to create a wow! effect. 

I colored the image using Altenew Woodless Watercolor pencils. When I use these pencils, I pick the pigment from the tip of the pencil with a waterbrush, then color the image. 

To fill in the space around the image, I used a Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Stencil. I used a detailed brush to apply ink to the open areas of the stencil, avoiding adding ink to the image. Sometimes I pounce the brush on a scrap paper to lighten the ink before brushing the ink to the stencil to create some texture.

I added red Stickles to the nose of the reindeer to truly make the reindeer Rudolph. 

I rounded the corners with a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. 

It is very tempting but I decided to keep the card simple to meet one of this month's theme challenge.

Digital Image Made Into A Felt Embellishment

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. For the month of March, the challenge theme is on Nature and Scenery, and/or Home and Food. It is a multi-theme challenge. Choose one or choose all!

I created a Christmas theme card for the challenge. Yes, I am starting my Christmas cards this early! Anyway, the candy cane image was too hard to resist. I created the digital image into a felt embellishment by printing the image on paper and using it as a guide to cut out the felt. I created a similar card using felt before. Check it out when you get the chance, Felt on Digital Image.

I stitched the red stripes using DMC Diamant Metallic Thread. I also used this thread to stitch the leaf veins. I added a die cut 3D bow and some sequins and baubles. 

For the background paper, I uploaded the sentiment to Cricut Design Space. I duplicated the sentiment to fill up a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel. To keep the arrangement of the sentiments, I attached these to the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel. I selected the draw function and used a metallic gold gel pen. I set this aside to dry. I trimmed this panel to 4" x 5 1/4".

On a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" green cardstock, I adhered strips of patterned paper. I adhered the white sentiments panel next. I adhered the candy cane embellishment.

Digital Image to Cut File, Shaped Easel Slimline Card

 

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The theme for this challenge is Use A Card Fold Tutorial +/Or Animals. I am incorporating both themes to my card. We have Beccy's Place as sponsor for this challenge. 

I am using a freebie image from Beccy's Place. She has a list of freebies in her blog. I encourage you to check it out. She also has a list of card fold tutorials in her blog. I created an easel card which I modified. My design modification is inspired by Jennifer McGuire's Easel Card tutorial. 

I uploaded the design to Cricut Design Space where I modified this digital image into a one solid piece cut file. Given more time, I could have created the layers. The best thing about using the CDS is the offset feature. This is the first time I used this feature on an image. I have used this feature on fonts before and I love it. This feature adds a shadow to the image. I created the white card base of this card using the offset feature. The weld feature will be difficult to use for this design since the top of the birdhouse is pointed and irregular. There is not enough area to weld.

I also created a solid birdhouse piece by using the contour feature of CDS. This omits cut details that you don't want cut. I cut this image on a gray cardstock as the backing of the rest of the birdhouse layers.

I cut three pieces of the offset image on heavy weight white cardstock. I cut the birdhouse image on gray and lavender cardstocks. From hereon, I used my scissors to snip off any part of the cut that I don't want.

I added details to the birdhouse.  I stamped Lawn Fawn Woodgrain Backdrops to the lavender pieces using gray dye ink. The lines were also stamped. I used the arrow stamp from the set making sure I wipe off the ink from the ends before stamping it to the lavender cuts. 

The details on the birdhouse was created using Ellen Hutson Stitching Lines. The sentiment is from the same Lawn Fawn stamp set. I stamped this on the birdhouse base layer using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed this with clear embossing powder. I created the lavender circle frame using two circle dies from My Favorite Things Circle Stax die. 

The birds are from the Lawn Fawn Love Letters stamp set. I stamped this on blue cardstock and fussy cut the images up to the edge. Sadly, I had to cut off its legs. I ran a black marker around the image for a finished look. After I adhered the birds to the panel, I drew in the legs with a black pen.

I used a 3D bow die from Paper Smooches Easter Egg die set for the bow. I trimmed off the bow from the cut image which means I also have to trim off that part of the white base card. Given enough time, I could have done a better job editing this image in CDS but at that time, I was not sure of where this design will go. I prefer to just cut off some parts of the design's cuts rather than starting all over again. Hopefully, with sharing how I created this card, I can save you some time and resource/s.

Jennifer McGuire's easel card did not require a stopper to keep the easel up which unfortunately, does not work for this card. This is when I used the third white cardstock panel which was cut halfway from the base then adhered to the base to act as a stopper. The easel sometimes does not stay up but after several tries, it finally stayed up.

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. It is a Color Challenge in which you choose two or more of the colors in the color chart below.

Our sponsor for the challenge is Beccy's Place. I am using a digital freebie. After seeing the Poppies image, I thought that the perfect project for this image is a card set which will be a gift to my son's teacher.

I printed the image on Strathmore watercolor paper. I was impressed on how vivid the digital print out was. I colored the flowers with Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor. I colored a print out with one color from the color board, and used the green from the color board for the leaves. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. 

I die cut a retired My Mind's Eye 6x6 paper pad using one of the Waffle Flower A2 layers die. I die cut the Pinkfresh Studio Noteworthy Frames die set on the bottom portion of this patterned paper panel so I can slide the flower through it. It will also be a place to put the sentiment on. Details on the sentiments can be found below with more photos of the cards.

I trimmed color coordinating cardstocks at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I embossed this with Ellen Hutson Stitching Lines dies. These dies, as it is named, make designed line impressions. I have not snipped off all the wires which connects these dies together. I lined up the dies that I have snipped off with the rest of the dies and applied a piece of tape to the back to keep it all together. I made a diagonal impression of these dies for added interest. 

The sentiment is from Ink Blot Botanical Borders embossed with gold embossing powder.

I added a touch of vellum to the frame notch created by the Pinkfresh Studio die. After I die cut the frame on gold vellum, I cut off the ends with a scissor, following the impression created by the die. The sentiment is a die from Little B. I die cut this on black cardstock. I adhered three word die cuts on top of each other. I added Zig Wink of Stella on the top for shimmer.

The sentiment is from Avery Elle Peonies stamp set. I heat embossed this using Ranger Seafoam White embossing powder.

Which one is your favorite? Despite having yellow as my favorite color, I like the dramatic effect of the blue flower.

Zig Clean Color Marker and Finetec Gold Watercolor Colored Goldfish

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge is on Hand Coloured Images. I prefer coloring my images except if the challenge sponsor only provides pre-colored images. Our sponsor for this challenge is Beccy's Place. I printed the image on Canson watercolor paper. I printed the fish twice, one larger than the other. I was going to use both of it on a card but my design went on a different direction, making me end up with two cards. Not too bad, right?

I colored the fish using Zig Clean Color markers and adding Finetec Gold watercolor. I fussy cut the fish, leaving a white border around it.

For the first card, I created a fish bowl scene using the Cricut Design Space. I blended inks to the greenery. I spritz some shimmer spray to the blue background paper. I embossed Hero Arts Sand embossing powder to the fish bowl ground. I created a shaped card using the CDS. I heat embossed the sentiment on a cloud bubble sticker. I added Ranger Enamel Accents for the dots of the speech bubble.

For the second card, I blended ink on the negative cut created on my first card with the fish bowl cut. I splattered water then picked it up with a paper towel to create water droplets. I embossed a white shimmer card with an embossing folder. I added a wooden embellishment for a sentiment which I backed with a black shimmered card stock just to make the letters pop.

I enjoyed creating these two cards. I enjoyed coloring the fish. I also enjoyed looking through my stash and using products that I rarely use these days (the sticker and the wooden embellishment).

Digital Image on Ink Blended Background

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. The challenge is on Flowers and Colour Palette. I am using a silhouette image from Beccy's Place. This image is part of the Fallow Fields set.

I blended several inks on Strathmore Bristol paper. I am using Tim Holtz Distress Oxides in Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Fired Brick in lieu of the challenge's color scheme as seen above. I flicked some water on the panel then picked up the water droplets with a paper towel.

I wanted to print the image on the panel but I did not want to mess up the blended panel. I used the Cricut Design Space to draw the image on the panel instead. There is a feature in Cricut Design Space called SnapMat if you are using the mobile app. This allows you to take a photo of the material to be cut or in this case, drawn on, while adhered to the cutting mat. Once you have a photo taken, you can position the image to the center of this. This means to me that I can cut my scraps and I can place my cardstock anywhere in the Cricut mat. What a great feature!

Back to drawing the image, I wanted to use a navy blue marker but I don't have the Cricut marker of this color. I only have a navy Zig Color Twin marker. Knowing that I can push out the pen holder, I rubber banded the marker on the area that will have contact with the area where the pen holder used to be. There are adapters on sale online but I don't have those. The only worry I have at this point is the marker moving during the drawing process. But it did not! Another great discovery! Imagine the possibilities.

I did not want to re-activate the Oxide inks so I used Faber Castell Polychromos pencils in coloring the drawn image. I added some details to the flowers using a navy glitter marker and a white Pilot Juice gel pen.

I used the Avery Elle Pierced Mat Elle-ments to die cut the inked panel. The lay-out is longer than the die that I used so I partially die cut the lay-out, then moved the die to the bottom of the lay-out, making sure that the pierced dots are aligned, then run this through the Sizzix Big Shot.

I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Navy Shadow ink. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Magical Sampler stamp set.

I adhered this to a navy textured cardstock, then to a white top folding notecard. I trimmed off the edges by using the diagonal panel die cut as guide, coming up with a shaped card. This is a bit narrow than the regular A2 sized note card. I had this matted on another blue cardstock but I changed my mind later on, so I trimmed this off.
