Inked Embellishments Autumn Card

Hello! I forgot to take an off from work last Saturday to celebrate Happy World Card Making Day. I will try again next year. I am so glad that the celebration did not end that day. Some blogs have their sales and challenges extended for a few more days. Thank you! What I love about this day is participating on the instant, timed challenges sponsored by different craft companies. For me, this means using what I have and shaking up my creative head since I have to work with the limited supply I have.

I am using Jillibean Soup products for this challenge. I smooshed ink on a white Jillibean Soup Doily. I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Fired Brick, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber and Peeled Paint for the colors. On my last color layer, I spritz WPlus9 Shimmer Pure Color Spray on a Ranger Craft Mat and pounced the inked doily on it. I dried the doily with a heat gun in between color layers.

I watercolored the JS White Smile Wise Words sticker. I first used Finetec Inka Gold but added black Kuretake Gansai Tambi over it to make the sentiment pop over the inked doily. The good thing is that the watercolored sentiment sticker retained the pearl finish of the gold paint. I adhered this to the doily.

I added JS Chilled Cucumber Soup letter stickers to a JS wood banner from the JS Large Wood Shape Assortment pack to complete the sentiment. I traced the letters with a Sakura brown gelly roll pen to change the color from gray to brown. I carefully added clear Wink of Stella to the stickers, avoiding the already dried gel ink.

I adhered this to a circle fun foam for some dimension. I die cut a circle from the JS Country Pumpkin Chowder 6x6 mini pad. I adhered it to the back of the fun foam.

For the panel, I cut a 4" x 5 1/2" JS Irish Farm House Soup patterned paper. Using a paint brush, I flicked gold watercolor to this panel using the same Finetec gold paint I used earlier. I sponged the edges with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo to hide the white core of the paper.

I adhered this to a dark brown cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I then adhered it to a top folding notecard. I added Nuvo Glitter Drops Golden Sunset as a finishing touch.

Fall Themed Background Using the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. The challenge theme is Autumn (Fall) Colours. Very timely, right! After having a hot October start, we are finally starting to have cool temperatures here in St. Louis. It is about time, I should say. I am using an image from one of our sponsors, Elsa image no. 184. I printed the image on kraft cardstock and colored the image using Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils. I added hightlights to the eyes and whiskers using gel pens. I fussy cut the image, leaving a small border around it. I ended up adhering this image on white cardstock, then fussy cutting it leaving a thin white border around the image to make the image pop out against the busy background.

For the background, I used the Cricut Design Space to edit the leaf images called Fall Leaves. This is a print, score and cut image. I edited it to draw so I can use the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill. I cut the foil to the size I need. I taped this over the area of the cardstock where I want the leaves to be drawn.

Removing the foil off the cardstock is like removing a mask after ink blending. The reveal of the outcome is amazing!

Working on the sentiment, I adhered a double sided adhesive tape over a yellow cardstock. I die cut the Lawn Fawn Scripty Thanks on this but with the adhesive part on top. I removed the release paper and poured Inkadinkado Yellow Flocking Powder. I covered this with a parchment paper so I can burnish the flocking powder to the adhesive. The word sending is from Lawn Fawn Love Letters stamp set. I stamped it using a Altenew Paper Bag dye ink and stamped it on a yellow cardstock strip. 

 To create a scene for the fox, I stamped the tree stump on white colored cardstock using a brown dye ink. I fussy cut this stamped image and colored the the top area with a Copic marker. This tree stump is from LF Mom + Me stamp set. I die cut an orange felt heart using the heart die from LF Happy Mail die set. I adhered this to the center of the tree stump.

I trimmed the foiled panel making it into a 5 1/4" x 4" panel. I adhered this to a 5 1/4" x 4 1/4" kraft cardstock. I then adhered the images and the sentiments. I ahdered this to a top folding wide A2 white notecard.

Back To School Bookmark Classroom Give-away

Hello! I want to share something I created for my 2nd Grader's class which I think will be very useful  for the kids. I came up with this idea after seeing my son's planner because he uses a Post-It Note as a bookmark.

I am using a part of a cut file I purchased from Lori Whitlock's SVG Shop called Twist Pop Card Back To School. I only used the pencil cut to create the bookmarks. I die cut the elements of the digital cut using varied colors of cardstocks and a yellow Doodlebug patterned paper. The digital grouped cut came with a solid pencil cut which I cut twice the number of cuts I made for the other digital cut images.

I layered and adhered the cut images. Once I am done with all the pencils, I stamped their names on the solid colored area of the pencil to personalize the bookmark. I used a Martha Stewart Custom Stamp Setting Kit to heat emboss the names on the pencils. I used Versafine Onyx Black Ink and clear embossing powder for this. Some of the letters were not perfectly stamped. I used a Sakura Glaze Black pen to fix this.

To create the pencil into a bookmark, I applied a strong double adhesive tape on the back of the layered pencil. I lined the solid pencil cut to the back to adhere it. Now, it is a bookmark!

Get Well Soon Card Using the Negative Cricut Cut

Hello! I created this card for my son's friend who has an injury right now. I would have tried to customize the card some more but I think I already did my share of drawing in this card that I am afraid to ruin it if I try drawing some more.

I am using the Pretty Pink Posh Friends Forever stamp set. This stamp set came with a heart balloon stamp but I wanted to stamp a sentiment inside the balloon. The balloon was too small to fit the sentiment which is from the PPP Thoughtful Greetings stamp set. I measured the size of the sentiment. Using Cricut Design Space, I chose a heart image to cut. I resized the heart slightly larger than the size of the sentiment. Using a scrap piece of cardstock, I die cut the heart into this. I set the positive heart die cut aside. I positioned the panel with the negative heart cut onto a Neenah Solar White cardstock. I secured the edges with washi tape so it will not shift while I blended ink on the open heart area. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tattered Rose and Worn Lipstick, blending it in with a Picket Fence Life Changing Brush. Once I was happy with the blending, I traced the heart with a black marker, using the stencil as a guide in drawing.

I stamped the images using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I drew in the rest of the balloon piece and the string. I know this is a simple drawing but I can mess up even the simplest things. I am just not an illustrator.

I colored the images with Copic markers. I stamped the sentiment on the balloon using Versamark ink. I poured Wow! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder then heat set it.

I die cut the colored panel with Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I die cut a Stampin' Up Pink cardstock using a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Wafer die. I adhered the colored panel on the pink cardstock.

Birthday Card using both Tim Holtz Distress Oxide and Distress Ink

Hello! I made this card for my 7-year old's classmate who is celebrating her birthday today. Ryan's theme for this card is flowers. His friend's favorite colors are purple, blue and green. Ryan chose the Ellen Hutson Bold Blossom stamp set.

I will be overlapping some of the images so I utilized Kristina Werner's stamp map technique. It helped in planning out the order of stamping, placement and which images need to be masked. 

I am using a Bazzill Taffy cardstock for the stamping panel, cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I stamped the large sized flower using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Shaded Lilac. I heat set this to speed the drying process before I covered the flower with a mask. I stamped the small flower stamp using THDO Cracked Pistachio and Tumbled Glass. I heat set this as well and covered it with a mask. I then stamped the leaves using THDO Peeled Paint. 

Removing the masks is such a joy because the reveal is always amazing. I blended inks on the stamped images using the Picket Fence Life Changing Brushes. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink versions of the colors I used for the flowers. You can see the difference of the opacity of both inks making it hard to choose one ink over the other. I just got to have both!

I heat embossed the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black ink and clear embossing powder. The stamp is from Simon Say Stamp Jumbo Stripes stamp set. 

I die cut this panel using Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. To matte this panel, I die cut a Stampin' Up Purple cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles Wafer Dies. 

I added Pretty Pink Posh Jewels. I also added Nuvo Aqua Flow Shimmer Brush Glitter Gloss to the flowers.

Birthday Trading Card

Hello! My 7-year old son requested me to create a card for his classmate who is going to celebrate his birthday. I always get him involved with the card making. For this card, he wanted a cake with an orange icing because that is his friend's favorite color. 

For the technique, I am trying a no-line water watercoloring and resist watercoloring. The image is from My Favorite Things BB Beary Special Birthday.

For the no-line watercoloring, I stamped the image using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen. I also colored the image using various Tim Holtz Distress Inks. 

For the resist watercoloring, I stamped the image using Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Wow! Gold Pearl embossing powder. I also colored the image with Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I am using Canson watercolor paper. I die cut the watercolored panels with Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. The sentiment was stamped using Altenew Paper Bag Crisp dye ink. I used a Sakura Black Glaze pen for the eyes.

Teacher Inspired Letter Board Card

Hello! I created this card for several targets. First, we have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs, Back to School/Children. I am the theme selector and author of this challenge. I chose the theme so I can create a card for my 2nd Grader's teacher (which is my second target for this card). The Children theme was an add-on since not all of the DT has school-aged children. My last target for this card is to join in Sugar Pea Design's Mix-It Up Challenge.

One of our sponsors for the Incy Wincy Challenge is Cute as a Button. I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image with Prismacolor colored pencils. I applied Stickles Christmas Red Glitter Glue to the apple, and Nuvo Apple Sour Glow Drops to the leaf. I set this aside to dry.

For the card panel, I die cut the letters of my sentiment using the Sugar Pea Designs Message Letter Board die. I die cut this on white cardstock since I plan to adhere the letters on top of each to create  dimensional letters. This is the most tedious process in the creation of this card since the letters are small. Thanks to the tweezer and pick-up tool, it made the process a little bit easy. I also used a liquid adhesive to adhere the stacked letters. For the top layer of the letters, I used a gray cardstock.

I die cut the message board on a two-sided colored cardstock. I lined this up and cut the green piece diagonally, just like in the sketch. I die cut a blue cardstock at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I adhered the message boards to this blue panel. I die cut a red cardstock using the My Favorite Things Wonky Stitched Circle Stax Die-namics. I die cut the panel with the digital image using a My Favorite Things Circle Stax die. I adhered this on top of the red circle cardstock with a fun foam in between.

I adhered the letters to the message board more towards the right bottom part of the green message board. I adhered one of the letters on the red circle cardstock since I am running out of space. I adhered the circle panel where the circle is at on the sketch. I have a bit of an overhang which I trimmed off. The sentiment is too long to fit on the front of the card. So I stamped three dots to the end of the phrase, then added Nuvo Metallic Silver Lining Crystal Drops on top of the dots.

The white background of the digital image bothers me. Luckily, I have the same image printed on typing paper. I fussy cut this image right on the line. I adhered this on top of the colored image using a temporary adhesive. I blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Antique Linen around the digital image using the Picket Fence Life Changing Brush.

I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the eyeglasses. I adhered Doodlebug sequins on the diagonal portion of the message board.

For the inside of the card, I adhered the rest of the letters to complete the sentiment. I added dots the same way as I did on the front of the card.
