My Favorite Color is Yellow

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I am a guest designer at the Cut It up Challenge. The challenge theme is Your Favorite Color(s). Yes! I created a card that screams my favorite color, yellow. I like yellow because it reminds me of the sun. The sun represents energy, power, positivity, and clarity.

This is my second time to be a GD at Cut It Up Challenge. On my first GD gig, I created a Weaved Fall Card. It is very easy to join the challenge. Create a project based on the challenge theme and make sure to include a die cut. If you are chosen as one of the Top 3, you have the chance to become a Cut It Up Challenge GD.

The most involving part of my card is the background which is all stitched. I used a cross stitch die to add stitching holes to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock. I was so inspired by a card created by Jennifer McGuire that I used the stitches on her card on my card. The difference is that Jennifer used different colors of embroidery floss while I only used yellow DMC embroidery flosses on my card. I had so much fun stitching this background that I think I am going to create another card like this.

I die cut the postage frame using the SugarPea Designs Postage Stamp Sugar Cut on a gold Grafix vellum paper. To create this into a frame, I used a Hero Arts Nesting Rectangle Die to die cut a rectangular opening on the center of the postage die cut. I adhered the frame to the stitched panel.

I die cut the leaf using the Simon Says Stamp Laurel Leaf die on vellum, a yellow-gold cardstock and the same gold vellum paper I used for the frame. I adhered these die cuts on top of one another with the vellum on top to mute the yellow-gold cardstock. I adhered this to the stitched area, applying dots of glue to the stem and the ends of the leaves connected to the stem. I applied something heavy over the leaf while the glue is drying up.

For the sentiment, I used the Spellbinder Pocket Full of Spring die to etched a sentiment on a yellow cardstock. I die cut the sentiment into a strip using a sentiment strip die. I die cut two extra pieces on white cardstock. I adhered the white strips on the back of the etched sentiment strip for dimension. I inked the sides using the Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress ink. I adhered this to the laurel leaf on the stitched panel.

I zhuzhed the tips of the leaves to add interest to the focal point of the card.

I trimmed an eight of an inch off each side of the stitched panel. I adhered this panel to a yellow cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I adhered this to a top folding note card.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you, Larelyn and Cut It Up for allowing me to be a GD on your challenge blog a second time around. It sure was a pleasure. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Mini-Album

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created these mini albums featuring my sons' photos. It is a gift that I will be sending to my family and my husband's family. Do you recognize the colors? I got my color inspiration from the Ukrainian flag. This is my creative way of showing support to their country.

The paper I used for the album is Canson Watercolor paper. I cut a sheet in half and scored it at 3", 6" and 9".

The front was stenciled with some embossing paste mixed with blue and yellow inks. I blended ink and applied watercolor to some areas. The stencils I used are from Hero Arts. The sentiment is created using die cuts from Altenew and Sugar Pea Designs. The label die is from Avery Elle. I added a piece of washi tape and stamped the year which corresponds to the ages of my sons that will be seen once the album is opened.

I matted the photos with patterned paper. I added a sentiment washi tape for some embellishment.

To make the design consistent, I blended inks to the back cover using the same stencil and inks.

I cannot imagine what Ukraine is going through right now. It is a situation no one wants to be in. My prayers for Ukraine and the Ukrainians.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Work Ballot Box

Hello! I want to share this repurposed box that I jazzed up into our work unit's ballot box for Employee Of The Month. I was going to put stars instead of the person trophy on the center but the original creator of the ballot box suggested for me to incorporate the trophy element of the ballot instead. I could not find a cut file of the trophy she used. This is the closest I can get to it.

If you follow my blog, I prefer to use supplies that I already have in hand. The only thing that I had to purchase for this project is the navy cardstock to cover parts of the box.

I downloaded the trophy file cut image from svgrepo to Cricut Design Space. The file image cuts an outline of the trophy. I edited this image in CDS. I used the contour feature to hide the negative cuts so I can cut a solid piece of the trophy. I used the contour feature to cut the negative cuts of the image using different colored cardstocks. I extended the height of the trophy by using the weld feature in which I welded a rectangle to the base of the trophy.

I used black cardstock for most of the cut image except for a gold mirror cardstock for the trophy cut, and a gray cardstock for the base of the trophy. I used the We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill to write on the gray cardstock.

I wrapped the top of the box with the ballot. I wrapped the sides and the back with the navy blue cardstock. Good thing this box is only held by inserts so I was able to undo its box form while wrapping it.  I also used my son's left over Elmer's Glue for all the glue job for this project. Yes, it was messy! No wonder I less prefer Elmer's Glue but despite the mess, it held the things being glued together well. Thanks to the help of several pinching tools and weights. Not to forget, allowing adequate dry time in between areas that are being glued.

I cut the slit on the top of the box using a craft knife. I cut a navy cardstock about 1/2" larger than the size of the slit. I adhered this to the opening on the box to create a trim for the opening, making sure the holes are aligned. I added a heart rhythm die cut to follow the theme of the trophy from the ballot. I used SugarPea Designs Heart Beat die for this. I die cut this on a matte gold cardstock.

I adhered the trophy to the inside back side of the box. I adhered the other solid trophy cut to the outer back side of the box. I adhered the rest of the trophy layers to the front solid trophy cut.

I stamped gold stars to the back flap of the box. I adhered another cardboard to the back side of the box for more support and to keep the flap from leaning backward and forward. We don't want the trophy leaning either way too, right?

Thank you for viewing my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Postage Shaped Card (New Craft Stash #17)

Hello! Welcome back to another post in my New Craft Stash Series. If you are new to my blog, I feature products that I have acquired recently or have not used before. For today's post, I am featuring products from SugarPea Designs.

My colors are inspired by the colors in the latest SugarPea Designs Blog Challenge. I am also using the sketch from the same challenge.

I blended ink on a light blue cardstock and a dark grey cardstock using the SugarPea Designs Leaf Canopy Stencil. I blended Tim Holtz Speckled Egg Distress Oxide on the blue cardstock, and Tim Holtz Hickory Smoke Distress Ink on the grey cardstock. I would have used an oxide ink on the gray panel but I don't have this color in oxide. Not that it matters. It just depends on what look you are after. If you look closely on the blue panel, it has a matte, chalky look which I like.

On the grey panel, I added Ranger Perfect Pearls Perfect Pearl powder for some shimmer. It is recommended to spray this with a fixative or water but I don't have a fixative. I did not want to spritz water to this panel because I am afraid that the water will activate the distress ink which is reactive with water. I just gave this panel a good wiping with a Swiffer cloth and a clean rug.

For the shaped card, I die cut a heavy weight light gray cardstock using the large postage die from the SugarPea Designs Postage die set. I die cut two pieces, one for the front and the other one for the back of the card. I trimmed the blue and gray carkdstock to 3 10/16" x 2 1/2". With this size, the panel fits in the postage die cut without covering the stitched details of this panel. I adhered the blue and gray panels to the light gray postage die cut with foam adhesive.

For the sentiment, I die cut the word 'Sending' on two pieces of scrap cardstock and on a brown pearl cardstock. I adhered this on top of the other with the brown pearl cardstock on top to create a dimensional embellishment. I die cut the letters to create the word hug using the letter dies from the SugarPea Designs Letter Message Board die set. I die cut this on the same light gray cardstock.

I die cut a label using a die from the Lawn Fawn Fancy Folded Banners die set. I die cut this on the same brown pearl cardstock I used for the sentiment die. I adhered the sentiments to the blue panel with the label slightly sticking out.

I added gold leaf sequins and Nuvo clear drops. I set this aside to dry.

To create this into a shaped card, I scored the other light gray cardstock at 1/2". I folded this carefully, reinforcing the crease with the use of a bone folder. I added a strong double adhesive tape on the wrong side of the postage die cut, and on top of the scored line. The wrong side will be the inside of the card.

After I removed the release paper of the adhesive, I carefully lined the die cuts together. I used a bone folder to gently rub the area where the adhesive is.

Stamped Background In Rainbow Colors

Hello! I created this scrapbook layout to take part in Scrapbook & Cards International Scrapbooking Day Stamping Challenge. This is a late post since I had to wait for the announcement of the winners. I did not win but this layout is one of the highlighted work. See the rest of the scrapbooking layouts who are highlighted, and for the challenges' winners, visit Scrapbook & Cards INSD post

I started off by stamping the Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards All My Heart stamp set on watercolor paper.  Since I am creating a full page sheet, I kept the stamps on the plastic that holds all the stamps. I taped the edges of the plastic film to a  Fiskars Easy Stamp Press. I applied Versafine Onyx Black ink to the stamps and started stamping on the watercolor paper. Since the watercolor paper has texture, making sure that the stamp press is down all the time, I used a Chuckie tool to apply more pressure to the stamp press to get a good impression of all the stamps. I repeatedly stamped the stamp set until the whole watercolor paper is stamped on. For the ones with a poor impression, I fixed this with a black gel pen after I am done painting.

I colored each text box with Karin markers, following the colors of the rainbow. For the hearts, I used Gansai Tambi watercolor in white as base, then adding White Gold on top.

My album pocket's size is 9" x 12". I trimmed the watercolor to 8 3/4" x 11 3/4". I matted this with a white cardstock cut at 9" x 12". I cut my photos and added it to a white cardstock for a little bit of contrast from the busy background.

I die cut the hello using Concord & 9th Say Hello die. The die cuts an outline, a shadow and a scripty hello. I die cut the shadow on black cardstock and the scripty hello on white cardstock. I saved the outline die cut for a future project.

To create more contrast, I matted the white panel with red cardstock. I created a subtitle for my layout by die cutting letters from the SugarPea Designs Letterboard die on white cardstock. I die cut a duplicate for each letter so I can adhere one on top of the other for a raised look. The die set does not include an ampersand. I heat embossed the ampersand using white embossing powder. The stamp is from Hero Arts Christmas Crystals stamp set. The die set also did not have any apostrophe. I created one by doing a bit of die cut surgery using one of the letter die cuts.

I wrote my journaling underneath the subtitle before trimming the red cardstock with the use of a craft knife.

I adhered this on the rainbow watercolored panel. I added heart gems from Nuvo. I also added shimmer to the subtitle using Zig Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Create A Background With Die Cuts

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The challenge theme is For A Baby Or Use Balloons Or Sweets. I am using one of the two sponsors for this challenge.

I printed the image on Hammermill Color Copy Digital Cover. I am trying out this paper for the first time. It is not as thick as Neenah but it is relatively close to Neenah when it comes to coloring with Copic. At first, I was afraid that the paper won't stand up to the amount of alcohol ink I am using specifically on the background. Well, it did.

For the background, I die cut several balloons using a paper weight blue patterned paper. The balloon die is from Sugar Pea Designs. I blended Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink on one side of the balloon to create some shadowing. I arranged the balloons on a white 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock panel. To keep the balloon arrangement intact, I lifted the balloons with Glad Press N' Seal. I added liquid glue to the back of each balloons. I placed the white cardstock panel on top of these balloons, pressing it to adhere the balloons to the white cardstock panel. I carefully flipped this over and gently removed the Glad Press N' Seal. I set this aside to dry. Once dry, I trimmed off the excess. I drew in the balloon strings using a Sakura Stardust Gel Pen.

Back to the colored image, I die cut this using a square scalloped die from Concord & 9th. I die cut a white cardstock using a square stitched die from Lawn Fawn. I adhered the scalloped die cut to the stitched square die cut.

I heat embossed the sentiment on the colored panel using white embossing powder. I adhered this balloon panel.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope to see your creations at the challenge blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Monochromatic Card

Hello! We have a new at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. The theme of our last challenge for this year is Person/People And Choose Another Option (Sketch and/or Color). I am the author of the blog challenge. I created a sketch for the challenge and added a color challenge option. When I was looking for the color of the year, I did not pay attention to the year. Instead of next year's color, I submitted this year's color to our moderator for approval of the challenge theme last November. I am not sure if 2021's color of the year was already chosen last month but since my other co-DT members have their creations submitted using this year's color of the year, we will keep it this way.

I am using an image from one of our sponsors. I chose this image, a nurse, as tribute to the millions of heroic front liners taking care of patients during this pandemic. Now that the vaccines are finally being administered here in the US, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I added a few details on the hair using a black color pencil. I also used gel pens to add accents to the clipboard.

I die cut this with a rectangle die from Waffle Flower A7 Nesting dies. Using the next larger sized rectangle, I die cut a blue glitter paper to matte the panel with the image. I adhered the image panel to this with foam adhesive.

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" blue diagonal striped patterned paper. Following the diagonal lines, I adhered blue die cuts of Sugar Pea Designs Heart Beat SugarCut for a tone on tone effect.

I added strips of light blue dotted washi tape which I ran thru a paper crimper. I heat embossed the sentiment on a light blue cardstock strip using Paper Source Navy Blue embossing powder. I adhered this sentiment strip with foam adhesive. The sentiment is from The Stamping Village Thinking Of You Stamp Set. I rounded the corners with We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. I added navy blue sequins for some embellishment.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope to see your creations in the challenge blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Thankful Card (New Craft Stash #8: Stamp Set)

Hello! I am featuring the Sugar Pea Designs Floral Envie stamp set in my New Craft Stash series. This stamp set includes a large floral envelope stamp which I used on this card.

I stamped the image on a dark brown Tim Holtz Idea-ology Subtrate Sheet using Versamark ink. I poured Altenew Peach embossing powder to the stamped image then heat set it. I colored the image with Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils, adding pearlized pigment to the flowers for some shimmer. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it.

My card panel was inspired by the Sugar Pea Designs Mix It Up Challenge. I chose neutral colored patterned papers from a Basic Grey Hipster 6x6 paper pad. I used the Simon Says Stamp Wavy Scallop Stitches die to add the wave border to two of the patterned papers. To mute down the floral patterned paper, I adhered a vellum in between the scalloped patterned papers.

I die cut a banner on vellum using Lawn Fawn Fancy Folded Banners. I heat embossed one of the sentiments in the stamp set on this banner die cut using Ranger Copper embossing powder. I adhered the bannder using Kool Tak clear foam tape.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! This year is a very challenging year for a lot of people but I hope that we find in our hearts to be thankful for even the smallest things in our lives. I believe that there is sun after the rain, or in this case, a storm.

I am thankful for you for your taking time to visit my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Cover Die-Two Ways, Partial Image Stamping with Tsukineko Memento Dual Tip Marker Pen

Hello! I created this card to participate in Sugar Pea Designs latest challenge. Using the sketch provided, I thought of using the SPD Harlequin Cover Plate in two ways. One with keeping the negative cuts intact, and the the other without the negative cuts. I also used the colors in the photo inspiration.

To achieve this background, I partially die cut a green card stock. You can just die cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel for this instead. I just like to save paper that's why I decided to partially die cut. I kept all the negative cuts since I am paper piecing this back to the cover die cut. I repeated this step using a teal card stock this time. When I cut both pieces diagonally, I realized that the diamonds are not straight. I fixed this with a strip of teal card stock to cover the irregular seam created by the different colored card stocks.

I adhered both  harlequin diagonal panels to a yellow 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card stock. I adhered the teal card stock strip I mentioned earlier. I drew in diagonal lines on the yellow card stock using a silver gel pen to  continue the harlequin design.

For the image, I am using the SPD This Little Piggy stamp set. The image came with a hula hoop circled around its waist. I tried masking this hula hoop but was quite unsuccessful. So, I colored the lines of the image that I want stamped with a Tsukineko Memento Dual Tip Marker pen. This time, I did not have any trace of the hula hoop. I used a Copic marker to fill in the open gap and any areas that did not get a good impression.

I colored the image with Copic markers. I colored it gray since the inspiration photo has a gray bunny in it. Also, there are gray pigs out there, too. I fussy cut the image leaving a small white border around it.

For the balloon, I am using the SPD Birthday Balloon stamp set. I stamped the solid balloon on a yellow card stock with Hero Arts Butter Bar Mid-Tone Shadow ink. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it. I adhered a yellow vellum on top of it using a Xyron Sticker Maker. I fussy cut the balloon again, now cutting this right at the edge of the image. I partially stamped the sentiment Let's Party to the balloon by covering the word party. I could have cut the sentiment stamp but doing partial stamping on this sentiment stamp was not difficult at all. I then stamped the Celebrate sentiment stamp. I used Simon Says Stamp Audrey Blue dye ink. Since I stamped the sentiment on vellum, the ink stayed wet for a while so I was able to pour some Wow! Primary Blue Topaz embossing powder to it and heat set it.

I taped a Lawn Fawn Silver Sparkle Single Cord to the back of the balloon. I created a small bow and adhered this to the front. I adhered this to the card with a foam adhesive. I adhered the pig next with foam adhesive. The embellishments in my card represent the vertical line on the sketch. I squirted small dots of liquid glue to adhere the cord to the panel until the cord reached the pig. I adhered the cord to the pigs hand, like the pig is holding the balloon.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day! Stay safe always!

Pastel Rainbow Message Board Card

Hello! I created this card with the front liners and first responders in mind. I am in healthcare, too, but I don't do bedside care anymore. I do work with these front liners very closely in the units that we monitor. Seeing the circumstances right now, they are in a very difficult position to be on.

I am using the SugarPea Designs Message Letter Board die. I have used this die for several projects already. I am linking it here, in case you are interested to check it out (Vinyl on Greeting CardTeacher Inspired Letter Board Card, and Letter Board Birthday Card). I embossed the die on a Neenah Solar White cardstock. I ink blended the panel using the lines as guide. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Sugar Spun, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Tumbled Glass. I chose these colors to match the colors of the challenge. I masked the areas that I was not blending ink on.

I die cut my sentiment using the letter die included in the SPD Message Letter Board die set. I adhered these letters close to the bottom of the message board.

I stamped the image from the retired SPD This Little Piggy stamp set on Strathmore Water color paper using Versafine Onxy Black ink. I colored the image with Karina markers. I have used these markers on Canson water color paper in which this paper had some warping. The Strathmore brand worked well with these markers. I also tried the blender pen in this project. I did not see any blending. It was the water brush that made the pigment blend. I will try this blender pen with the Karin marker on a different paper.

Back to the project, I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. I partially stamped the angel pig image on a heavy weight Clearprint Vellum using Versamark ink. I made sure I got a good impression of the wings. I embossed the wings with Wow! Midas Touch embossing powder. I fussy cut the wings leaving a small border on the outer border of the wings. I cut the wings next to the embossed lines where the wings meet the pig's body.

I die cut some clouds on Grafix Platinum Vellum. I used a sticker maker to add adhesive to these clouds and to the wings. I adhered the wings to the pig. I colored the wings and the letters with Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss. I adhered the clouds to the letter board panel. I applied an action mini wobble spring to the back of the pig. I adhered this to the letter board panel.

I created a frame for the letter board panel using a white card stock. I adhered this to a top folding white A2 note card.

Here is a short video showing the wobbler in action.

Vinyl on Greeting Card

Hello! I created this card for the Sugar Pea Designs Blog Challenge. The first thing that came to my mind after seeing the photo inspiration is the Sugar Pea Designs Heart Beat die.

After looking through my paper stash, I used this die to cut several pieces of pink colored card stocks and patterned papers, keeping the negative die cuts as well. This is a very delicate die cut. To add some stability to it, using my paper tweezer, I gently pounced the Versamark ink pad to this die cut and embossed it with Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder.

I created a rectangular frame using a rectangular nesting die on a light gray card stock, saving the negative rectangle die which I will use later on.

I adhered the heart beat die cuts to the back of the frame using liquid adhesive. I arranged the die cuts to create an ombre pattern. I cut off the excess.

Using the negative rectangle die cut from the frame cut, I adhered a pink Cricut Holographic Vinyl. I trimmed off the excess. I positioned this to the back of the frame, securing it with small pieces of tape. I pieced in several hearts to the heart beat die. The heart is from the negative die cuts created by the Heart Beat die. I did a bit of cutting to create the heart. I adhered the die cuts to the vinyl with small dots of glue. I placed something heavy over it while the glue is drying.

For the panel, I embossed the Sugar Pea Designs Message Letter Board die on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cream colored card stock. I stamped the sentiment from Sugar Pea Designs This Little Piggy stamp set. I used the Misti Stamping Tool to stamp the sentiment so I can repeatedly stamp it to get a darker inked impression. I trimmed the edges off this embossed panel. I adhered the Vinyl. Then, I adhered this to a top folding light gray A2 note card. I added Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops to the hearts for added glitter. Although this card is overloaded with glimmer, shimmer and glitter. What do you think?

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Birthday Balloon Card

Hello! Have you had those days wherein you have a creative idea on your mind but when you try to create it, nothing is working out? This card is one of those difficult card creation moments for me. I was going to give up after my third try but I said to myself, there must be some way to do this. So what do I do on a moment like this? I turn to the internet and search for a technique that is close to what I want to achieve on the card I am trying to create. I always seem to find help and inspiration from Jennifer McGuire's video tutorials. I can't really say that I used her Two-Tone Stamping Technique on this card but after watching her video, I got some direction on how to carry on with creating this card.

I stamped the solid balloon stamp from the Sugar Pea Birthday Balloons stamp set. I created a balloon mask as well so. I masked the balloon image that I want to be at the front before stamping another solid balloon. I used different colored dye inks using the color scheme of the inspiration picture as a guide. I used Golden Glitz Delicata pigment ink on some of the balloons. The ink is very juicy so I did a second generation stamping which is when you stamp on a scrap paper before stamping on the panel.

This stamp set is a layering stamp set. I lined up the dots to the solid balloon image. I seem to get lucky with layering stamps lately. I also stamped these dots to the green balloons using White Shimmer Delicata pigment ink.

I stamped the balloon strings after. I heat embossed the sentiment using a Ranger copper embossing powder.

I don't have a card stock that matches the color of the brown balloon. I inked the edges of a white card stock using the same dye ink I used for the brown balloon.

I applied clear Spectrum Noir shimmer pen to the rest of the balloons.

I trimmed the edges off the stamped panel. I adhered a fun foam at the back before adhering this to the brown inked panel. I adhered this to a top folding white note card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
