Trifold Retirement Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I have a co-worker who just retired this month. I was requested to create a card for her. She likes to travel which explains the theme of the card.

I created this card using supplies from my craft stash. The luggage was cut using the Cricut Machine. I do this if I don't have a die to cut an image. I added eyelets to the luggage details. I fussy cut a patterned paper for the luggage embellishments. I punched one of the cut outs for a postage edge. I used a Martha Stewart custom stamp set to spell out the word retired on the luggage tag.

I put together the sentiment using several dies. 'Let' is from Simon Says Stamp. I did a bit of die cut surgery since the sentiment says Let's Party. 'The' is from Concord & 9th which I trimmed from the word There. 'Adventure' is from Lawn Fawn. And, 'Begin' is from Sugar Pea Designs. The last two dies are alphabet dies. I like alphabet stamps and dies. It allows me to customize a sentiment.

I inked the edges of the patterned paper I used for the panel. I splattered white ink over the panel.

I created this into a tri-fold card to provide a large space for my co-workers to write on. I added additional sentiments to both folds. The die cut sentiments and stamps are from Hero Arts.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Trifold Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. It is the first of the month which means there is a new challenge at Stick It Down Scrapbook and Card Making Challenge in FB. There are three sketches to choose from. I hope you join.

This is my take on the card sketch as shown above. I used the Grinch in place of the flower. I partially die cut the large sentiment on the front of my card. For the diagonal stripes, I used holiday washi tapes from my stash with some of it having words printed on it. I also created a sentiment strip to supplement the message of the large sentiment.

The Grinch is from a Kat Scrappiness stamp set. I want to thank Julie Patton for this stamp set which I won in her IG giveaway post. I stamped the Grinch on Ranger watercolor paper. I stamped this on the smooth side of the paper using Versafine Onxy black ink. I colored the image with a red and a green Lisa Horton Interference inks. I swiped the ink pad on a palette and picked the pigment with a paint brush. I painted the trim and the ornament with Finetec metallic watercolor. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it.

I added a twist to the card design by making this card into a trifold card. The first fold is the diagonal stripe portion of the sketch, with the main sentiment partially die cut to this panel. The sentiment is very dainty so I used the shadow die of the sentiment instead. This sentiment die is from Trinity Stamps. I die cut the sentiment on matte gold cardstock. I have extra die cuts of this sentiment which I adhered to the back of the gold sentiment die cut to add dimension to the sentiment. I die cut the shadow of the sentiment on a shiny red washi tape adhered to a scrap cardstock. I die cut this using the shadow die and trimmed it halfway.

This panel has a 1/2" tab which I adhered to the inside of the card.

For the middle fold, I rotated an A2 note card to have the fold on the right side. I trimmed a sliver off the open side so the sentiment panel will nestle nicely over the middle panel.

I trimmed a patterned paper at 4" x 5 1/4". I blended green ink on the edges. I added stitching to the circle patterns using metallic DMC threads. I added stickers to some of the circles.

I positioned the Grinch in a way that it looks like he is stepping on the diagonal strips. I adhered a washi tape under the Grinch on the middle fold so it does not look like the Grinch is floating.

For the inner panel, I die cut a light weight white cardstock with a stitched die from Simon Says Stamp. Once adhered, it hides the flap of the first fold.

I hope you like today's card. Please visit Stick It Down's social media sites for more sketch inspiration:

Tri-fold Mother's Day Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created this card for a friend of mine at work who I appreciate so much especially her genuineness. The focal point of this card is the small letter L. Please don't tell me that you thought it was a number 1. The die I used to cut this stiching alphabet die is from Spellbinders. This die has a number version, and the number 1 is different from the letter L. I die cut the elements of this card on various shades of blue cardstock, which is my friend's favorite color.

Adding my friend's name to the card adds a touch of personalization to this card.

I hope you like my card. Happy Mother's Day! Don't forget to make your mom feel special. This is my mom's first mother's day celebration in heaven. I believe she is still very much around watching over us.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Floating Die Cut Sentiment Tri-Fold Card

Hello. We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs which is on Ribbon and/or Lace. Our featured sponsor for this challenge is Knitty Kitty Digi Stamps. I am using the Puddles of Kitty Love image.

I printed the image on Strathmore Watercolor paper. I first watercolored the background using Tim Holtz Distress inks in Chipped Sapphire, Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass. I wanted a splattered look but I don’t know why I was not lifting the colors off. Any idea? I resorted to using Prima Color Blooms and sprayed small and large droplets to the area, blotting off the excess with a paper towel. I dried the splatters with a heat gun. I painted the hearts and the water puddle with Finetec white pearl paint. I colored the cat and the umbrella with Zig Clean Color markers. I added Ranger enamel dots to the eyes of the cat. I added a white dot to the eyes using a white Uniball Signo pen. The background colors and coloring medium used here was inspired by Kristina Werner's card using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

To add lace to my creation, I created a paper parasol using a pink Doodlebug doily. To cut this into the shape of an umbrella, I fussy cut the umbrella from a scrap digital print out of the image. I used this as a guide to cut the doily. I die cut a small ribbon using Lawn Fawn Mini Wreath die. I used a white pearl paper, and colored the trim with a pink Copic marker. I used a toothpick for the top end of the umbrella and colored it with a black Copic marker. I would have used a toothpick for the whole umbrella handle but since the image has a curved umbrella handle, I just left this as is. I added clear dimensional tape underneath the doily for a 3D effect. I set this aside to work on the card base.

I created two top folding A2 cards to create the tri-fold design. Working on the front of the card, I created a window using a craft knife. It would have been easier if I have a rectangle die that matches the size of the Pretty Pink Posh Scallop rectangle die. Since I do not, I traced the die and use this as a guide where to cut a window. I adhered strips of left-over pink patterned paper around the window opening to tie in with the color of the umbrella.

For the floating sentiment, I used the Simon Says Believe die. I die cut two of this sentiment on white cardstock. I adhered one of the die cuts to an acetate. I adhered the other sentiment die cut on the back of the adhesive, lining this with the sentiment on the front of the acetate. I created it this way to hide the adhesive I used on the sentiment on the front of the acetate. I fussy cut the acetate leaving a small border around the sentiment except on the ends. I left a thin tab on each end to act as a holder to make the sentiment float on the window. I applied liquid adhesive to these tabs and adhered it to the top front of the window. I colored the die cut with Spectrum Noir Glitter pens.

For the window frame, I die cut a Simon Says Cardstock Glimmery cardstock using Pretty Pink Posh Scallop rectangle die. I adhered this on the window, covering the acetate tabs holding the sentiment die cut.

For the tri-panel, I trimmed a small strip off the edges to facilitate folding of the card. The fold of this card is towards the bottom of the top layer card. I adhered washi tapes to the edges of this panel. I trimmed off the edges of the watercolored panel just large enough to show through the window. This is when I realized that the watercolored panel is short on the top. The umbrella is too close to the sentiment. I adjusted the watercolored panel to center the image between the window and the floating sentiment. With the washi tape on the top part now showing, I die cut some clouds using Taylored Expressions Rolling Clouds die on white shimmer paper to mute the washi tape to hopefully fix the eye sore.

To create the tri-fold, I applied adhesive to the front of the inner panel of the window card. For the panel with the cat, I applied adhesive to the back. I lined up the edge of the window card and the folded edge of cat card.

I stamped a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Believe In The Season stamp set to the inside of the tri-fold card. This is an encouragement card which I created because of my sister’s cat, Biboy, who survived an illness they thought is terminal. Although, Biboy has not fully recovered yet, she is showing signs of hope of survival.

Thank you for visiting my blog and bearing with me with this long post. If you have any questions, please feel free to post it as a comment below. Have a blessed, brilliant & creative day!

Red and Green Non-Christmas Gatefold Card

I am late in creating a card for our latest Incy Wincy Designs Challenge on Red and Green. This challenge runs for a whole month! It took me an extra week to finally get to it since the holidays kept me busy and I got a bit of a flu, too. Thanks to my sons! I am glad to be back.

Do you have one of those days wherein you already have a plan for your card but decided to do something else, only to find out that you will go back to your original plan because the new plan didn't work? This is one of those projects. I changed my original plan after I've put together all the supplies I was planning to use. I wanted to try out the new dies I've bought that's why I changed my design.  After several tries and changes, it still wasn't working. Thanks to my eldest son, to whom I frequently ask for feedback, I went back to my original design.

I am using an 8 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock. I scored this at 2 1/8" on both ends creating a gatefold card. When folding, make sure the ends meet so there will be no gap in between that could reveal a part of the inner card. I adhered different patterned papers on both flaps, one from Bo Bunny and the other, from Authentique.

I printed the image on watercolor paper. The image is from one of our sponsors for this challenge, Bugaboo stamps. I colored the image using Gansai Tambi Kuretake watercolor, mixing the silver with the red and green to add some sheen to the dark pigmented colors. I painted this mix on the flowers and the leaves. I painted the vase gold. I die cut the image using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Square die. I watercolored the edges of this image paenl with the same gold watercolor I used for the vase.

For the sentiment, I am using a stamp from the Altenew Label Love stamp set. I embossed this using Wow! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder. I used a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen to trace the letters on the label stamped impression and make it pop.

For the layer, I adhered a red patterned washi tape around the edges of a white cardstock. For the sentiment, I covered a white cardstock with the same washi tape. I adhered the image panel and sentiment strips using adhesive foam.

To finish off the card, I applied a strong adhesive to just a side of the back of the image. For the image, I applied adhesive on the back right side. I adhered this to the left gate panel of the card. For the sentiment strip, I did the opposite. I applied the adhesive on the left side of back of the sentiment strip, then adhered this to the right gate panel.

I applied dew drops to the center of the flowers for added embellishment.

I hope you join our latest challenge. There is still a long way to go before the challenge ends.

Have a blessed & brilliant day!

Shaker See Though Wedding Card

My son's 5th Grade teacher is getting married at the end of this month. I volunteered to create a card for her. I am on a time crunch since my promise day is Wednesday. Between fulfilling a promise to my pre-schooler and helping my 5th Grader create his favorite book character pumpkin, I was left with Tuesday night to create the card.

I made a little research on the would-be couple. Thanks to the web, I saw her wedding announcement. Thanks to my friend, Lindsay. for helping me out with the color theme of the wedding which are the colors of the couple's online wedding announcement.

I cut the wedding rings using Cricut Life's A Party cartridge. I cut 6 pieces of this image with one as a mirror image. I cut this on a gold Recollection cardstock. I stacked the 5 wedding rings on top of the other. I adhered a vellum and acetate to the back of the first layer. I adhered another acetate to the back of the mirror image. The vellum was stamped using a gem stamp from Studio Calico. I cut off the excess after I adhered it to the gem portion of the ring.

To create the windows, I used a circle die slightly smaller than the rings from the My Favorite Things Stacked Circle dies. I used the negative cut as a guide for positioning the circle die. I cut this on a navy blue cardstock and a cream cardstock which is the base of the wedding card. This is a card slightly larger than an A2 card. I embossed the navy cardstock with a Li'l Inker Designs embossing plate. My initial plan was to have the card front all covered with the navy cardstock. The embossing folder is smaller than the navy panel. I tried to continue the embossing but the plate shifted, so you know how that turned out, right? I was left with this navy cardstock that is slightly shorter than the card. This time, I was able to continue the pattern without any shifts. I would have pursued the sides of the panel too but since this is what is left of my navy cardstock, I just left that portion plain.

I adhered the navy panel to the card base. I adhered the mirrored ring die cut to the inner panel otf the card base. Working on the front of the card, I poured some clear Martha Stewart hear sequins to the center of the ring. I adhered the stacked rings to cover the window and create the shaker windows. I was using Ranger Multi Matte Medium to adhere this but I was having little luck on sealing the edges of the ring even if I applied a clear block on top of the rings while the glue is drying. I think one of the reasons why it is failing is because I have a groove in between the stacked and mirror imaged rings. I used a thin double sided tape, and finally, I can shake the card without any sequins falling.

This is a trifold card. I cut another card base using the same cream cardstock, with the score on my right. I cut the largest heart from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hearts die on a Navy Pearl cardstock, also from Recollection. I stamped the panel using a garland stamp from Studio Calico. I used a Hero Arts Soft Vanilla dye ink. I adhered the heart to this panel making sure that the navy color is showing thru the ring window panel. I die cut the sentiment from Paper Smooches Always and Forever dies using the reverse side of the Recollections gold cardstock. I applied copper Wink of Luna to the words Always and Forever for highlight since these words are overlapping the ampersand.

For the middle panel, I stamped the names of the bride and groom, and added the homerooms of the kids for a personal touch. I didn't add the photo to this post. I want to save that portion for the couple to view first and hopefully, enjoy. I used a  Concord & 9th Sophisticated Script stamps. I used the Misti Stamping Tool to re-stamp the letters for a bolder impression. These kinds of stamps are on trend now a days. To connect the letters, like it is handwritten, I put an acetate on the area to be stamped on. I position the letter next to the already stamped letter, making sure that the tip of that letter is covered by the 'to-be-stamped' letter.  Then, I pick the stamp with a block or in this case, I use the Misti. The acetate stabilizes the letter since it is hard to sometimes hold these single letter stamps upright.

And what is a handmade card without a handmade envelope?

Congratulations, Miss Goehring!

Thanks for viewing my blog. Have a blessed & brilliant day!

Reindeer Spinner Christmas Card

My son asked me to create Christmas cards he can give to his friends.  In my thought, creating an interactive card with a reindeer on it will not only suit the ages of his friends, but may also remind them of my son since his name is a short version of the red nose reindeer.

To create the card, I stamped the reindeer images onto a 60 lb. Neenah white card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the reindeers using Copic markers. This is the part you may call me crazy but I fuzzy cut the reindeers. Yes, I did! I haven't bought the matching die for the Mama Elephant Reindeer Games stamp set because it is not available at my local craft store and most of the time, I like to try the stamp set first before investing on its matching die.

I colored the antlers with Clear Wink of Stella. I used a green Copic Spica for the collar. I used Stickles for the nose. And, I used Glossy Accents for the medallion.

For the card base, I wanted to create a 4-Bar trifold card. I trimmed a white card stock at 4 7/8". Then cut the short end at 10 1/5". I scored this at 3 1/2", then rotated the paper to score the other end at 3 1/2" too. I folded the card at the score lines. After determining which will be the front of the card, I trimmed a small part of the other edge to allow it fold underneath the front panel.

I die cut a stitched circle on the front. I embossed the front panel of the card using a We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder. For the panel that will lay under the front panel, I created a night sky background. I masked the back portion of the trifold card. I also applied at thin strip of masking tape around the edges of this panel to create a white border around the inked area. I blended 4 Tim Holtz Distress inks (Broken China, Dusty Concord, Faded Jeans, and Black Soot.)

After the inked background has dried, I powdered the bottom area of the panel where I will heat emboss the sentiment. I used a Hero Arts stamp for the sentiment (not photographed.)  I wanted the sentiment to be curved too in relation to the window circle. I laid the sentiment on a plastic sheet until I got the curve I want. Then, I picked the curved sentiment with an acrylic block. I stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink and poured Wow! Silver Pearl embossing powder to it. I added some droplets to this inked panel by tapping W Plus 9 Shimmer spray to the area.

For the spinner, I taped a thin silver thread to the back of one of the reindeers. I applied Multi Matte Medium to this, then adhered the mirror image of the reindeer. I place an acrylic block to this and allowed it to dry. I cut a thin white card stock, smaller than a 4-Bar, about 3 3/8" x 4 6/8". This will cover the threads at the back of the front panel. I also die cut a circle onto this. I centered the reindeer on the circle, and taped the ends of the thread on the top and bottom of the back panel. I cut the excess thread, then covered this with the thin white card stock.
