Crocheted Wreath Ornament Christmas Card

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. It is the first of the month. Time for a new challenge @ Stick It Down Scrapbook and Card Making Challenge on FB. Joining is very easy. Create a new project following this month's sketch. It can either be a single scrapbook layout, a double page scrapbook layout or a card. Choose one or choose all! 

This was not the original card I planned to create for this month's sketch. I overdid my craft supplies shopping this month. Why not use it right away rather than stashing it somewhere in my craft room and end up forgetting it? Don't you hate that?

I created a wreath for the circular frame of the sketch. I stepped it up by crocheting on a circular frame which I cut out of cardstock and stacked it to make it sturdy. 

I die cut a lot of poinsettias on pearl white cardstock using a die from the Alex Syberia Mini Ornaments Die Set. I die cut the leaves on gold pearl cardstock. I used a shaping stylus to give the poinsettias and the leaves some depth.

I adhered the poinsettia layers then adhered this to the crocheted wreath using Ranger Glossy Accents. I tucked the leaves under the poinsettias. 

For the card panel, the focal point and the sentiment are from a cut apart sheet by Crate Paper Mittens & Mistletoe 6x8 paper pad. 

On a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" scrap cardstock, I adhered a plaid washi tape from Paper Source. I applied glue to the cardstock before adhering the washi tape. I covered the whole panel with the washi tape.

I trimmed a gold mirror washi tape into skinny strips and adhered this to the plaid panel to take the place of the matte on the sketch. I ran a stitched border die over these strips for added interest. The die I used is from Lawn Fawn.

Here comes the tricky part, trying to figure out how to temporarily attach the wreath to the card front panel. I positioned the wreath over the plaid panel to give me an idea on where to adhere the floral focal point. I wanted the flowers of the cut apart to show through the wreath. Afterwhich, I adhered the floral cut apart. I made this into a hanging picture frame. I created the rope hanger with the use of two nesting diamond dies. I die cut a brown shimmer cardstock on the long corner of the diamonds. I adhered this on the top of the floral focal point.

I poked a hole on the tip of the photo frame hanger and threaded a brad through it. This is where I will temporarily attach the wreath.

To hide the string of the wreath, I used a jewelry wire to tie the string to the back. I also created a small circular hook to attach the wreath to the brad. 

I added the sentiment to the card panel adhering it underneath the wreath instead of on the wreath like the sentiment on the sketch.

I added red gems to the top left corner of the panel replicating it from the sketch.

It might be a challenge to give this card away. Mailing it will require extra postage since it would not be considered as a letter. Hand delivery will be the best option. I am planning to write instructions on the back of the front cover about the wreath ornament and how to remove the jewelry wires without ruining it. I can also just tape the string to the back of the card cover to make it simple.

August 2026 Challenge~Frame Challenge

A Shimmery Christmas Card, a Blank Page Muse Post

 

Hello! I am back at the Blank Page Muse blog with this card for an alternate take on Christmas theme. I was going for a steampunk design but ended up with a shimmery design for a card. But before I continue with the card, let me greet you all A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you are enjoying the holiday with your loved ones.

I used stamps from the Blank Page Muse Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Sheet Set. I did some embossing, fussy cutting and die cutting to create the scene. I used shimmer paper on this card except for the curved strip. 

I used a Glad Press 'N Seal to preserve the arrangement of the stockings as I add liquid glue to the back of the cut outs.

A Pink Christmas, An Alternate Take On Christmas, A Blank Page Muse Post

 

Hello! I am back at the Blank Page Muse blog with this card. For December, the team is doing an alternate take on Christmas theme. I created a mostly pink Christmas card, which is a non-traditional Christmas color. The Blank Page Muse stamps I used on this card are the Beyond the Border Christmas Stamp Set and the Country Vintage Christmas Rubber Art Stamps Set Sheet. I used a pink striped pattern paper from a Valentine paper collection, a very alternate take.

The card is mostly pink except for the sentiment which I embossed in black. I feel that if I made this pink, it will get lost in the busy pink background.

Pink Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created a one layer card with minimal supplies and stitching. The stamps I used are from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the houses on kraft cardstock. I colored the houses with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. Very easy coloring since I only used two colors, red and brown.

I die cut the houses using the coordinating die. 

I stamped the word joy on white cardstock using a very light ink. I carefully poked holes on this following the outline of the stamped sentiment. I added stitching to these poked holes using a red metallic thread. I did a french knot to the tittle of the j. I die cut the stitched sentiment using the coordinating die. Yes, another bold move. Luckily, no stitch was undone.

For the sentiment, I stamped this on kraft cardstock. using Versamark ink. I poured red embossing powder to the sticky ink and heat set it. I cut this into a wide strip. I added details to the top and bottom edges with a x stitching details.

I cut a pink cardstock at 4 1/4 x 11 1/2". I scored this at 5 1/4" on the long side. I added details to the front using a dye from The Greetery. 

I adhered the sentiment strip on the front of the note card. I adhered the houses with a foam tape. I adhered the stitched sentiment to the panel.

Sparkly Sequined Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Do you remember when the flip sequins were on trend? It was 'ASMR' as my youngest would describe it. I bought a piece of that fabric to jazz up my son's shirt for Christmas about 7 years ago. Since then, the rest of the fabric has been boxed with the rest of my craft stash. Thankfully, the Inky Paws Challenge made me dig it up and use it on this card. 

The stamp I used is from Newton's Nook Newton's Stocking stamp set. I stamped the sock twice on scrap cardstock. I fussy cut the sock on one of the stamped images, and the trims on the other. On the sock piece, I traced this  with the wrong side up on the back of the sequin fabric. I cut this fabric following the outline. I cut the trims on white felt, using the cut out trims as guide in cutting. I adhered the trims to the sequined cut out using glue gun.

I stamped Newton on white cardstock. I colored him with my sister's cat, Bibi, in mind. I used Copic markers for coloring. I fussy cut the cat. For a fun twist, I cut off the hat from the cat. I replaced the Santa hat with a 3D Santa Hat adhesive. To make the cat cute and naughty looking, I tucked one of the ears inside the hat. I snipped one side of the hat to allow me tilt the hat on the cat's head. I used glue gun to adhere the Santa hat to the cat.

Now that the focal point is done, I created the background panel using Lawn Fawn patterned papers. I die cut the green paper using an Avery Elle die. The die poked holes on the die cut to which I stitched a green DMC Diamant metallic thread. The poked holes were accents only but it worked well with stitching. I love when I can stitch on a die cut! I layered this piece with a red patterned paper from the same paper pad. 

I trimmed a jade cardstock at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I spritz this lightly (although I did the opposite) with water before embossing it with a 3D embossing folder by Simon Says Stamp. The water loosen the fibers of the paper preventing any cracking. Since I overdid my water, I had a bit of warping. Using a strong adhesive to adhere this to a note card will fix the warping.

I adhered the patterned papers to this panel. I adhered the focal point to the green patterned paper die cut. I added two layers of adhesive foam to the back of the cat and the tail to even out with the dimension of the sock and Santa hat. I used a glue gun to add adhere the sock and Santa Hat. 

As I have mentioned, I used a flip sequin fabric for the sock. Below is how the sock looks when the sequins are flipped.

Sketch Inspired Christmas Card

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. We have new sketch challenges at Stick It Down Scrapbook and Card Making Challenge in FB. It is very easy to join having three sketch options to choose from. 

I used a freebie stencil-die set from The Greetery which I got maybe 2 to 3 years ago. Although there is only 1 die in the set, the die cuts the ornament and the string separately. You just have to position the die on the paper according to which part you are die cutting.

I die cut the ornament on different colors of cardstock. I die cut the string on gold mirror cardstock. Using the stencil, I blended ink on each ornament using a darker shade of the color of ink as the die cut ornament. I adhered the string to the top of the ornament.

Instead of the zigzag matte, I die cut a skinny rectangle frame on the same gold mirror cardstock. The die is from Simon Says Stamp. I adhered this to a blue marbled patterned paper from Craft Consortium. I trimmed off the excess.

I replaced the oval shape on the sketch with a circular scallop, die cutting two scallop circles and nesting it on each other. I replaced one of the scallop circles with a vellum. The die I used for this is from Altenew.

I adhered the blue panel on a blue side folding A2 note card. I adhered the ornaments following the layout of the balloons on the sketch giving the sketch a twist. I flipped the balloon strings and the sentiment putting these elements on the opposite side of the panel.

I stamped the sentiment direct to the background matte using Versamark ink. It is a bold move. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong gold embossing powder since it can be hardly read on the marbled background. I restamped the stentiment with the intent to reemboss it with a different embossing powder but the paper had a bit of warping after the heat embossing, so the sentiment shifted even with the use of a stamp positioner. To fix this, I stamped the sentiment on a scrap marble paper, the same one I used for the background. After heat embossing the sentiment, I fussy cut the sentiment and adhered it over the other sentiment to cover it.

I added dots of enamel glue and glitter glue on the trim details of the ornament for some shimmer.

2-For-1 Christmas Cards

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Creating Christmas cards using the same supplies makes the process easy. I applied this trick on my cards but I wanted to give each card some individuality. Alike but different, if this makes sense.

I used a stamp from Avery Elle for the focal point on these cards. The card on the left is a one layer card. I colored the image with watercolor brush pens. I stamped the sentiment and stamped hollies for the background. I masked the edges of the image and pounced Versamark ink to the open area. I poured Wow! Ultra High Clear embossing powder to the sticky ink. After removing the mask, I heat embossed the powder until the powder is melted. I repeated the process to create more dimension and smoothen the embossing. I had a bit of warping. After the embossing has cooled down, I placed something heavy on top of the card to flatten it.

For the other card, the image was stamped on kraft cardstock. I colored the image with Altenew acrylic markers. I cut the image leaving a narrow border around it. Since the image is square shaped, it was very easy to cut it. For the background, I adhered several scrap patterned papers on a typing paper. The patterned papers are from the same paper collection which makes it easy to mix and match since most of the time, the papers in a collection complement each other. I die cut panel using a stitched rectangle die from Mama Elephant. I adhered the panel and the stamped image to an A2 note card. 

For the above cards, I received the tree die cut from a Christmas card swap a long time ago. The sender was very kind to send both negative and positive cuts. For the card on the left, I die cut a scalloped frame on aqua cardstock using a die from The Stamp Market. I die cut a scalloped edge oval on vellum using a die from The Stamp Market. On the negative oval cut from the frame die cut, I added Ranger Glossy Accents and poured Lawn Fawn chunky glitter to it. I adhered the vellum to the back of the frame and adhered the oval negative cut to the back of the vellum lining it up with the scallop frame. I adhered this to a Lawn Fawn patterned paper cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I adhered aqua jewels and added clear glitter drops to the tree.

For the other card, I trimmed this piece into a 4" x 5 1/4" panel making sure the tree is on the center. I adhered this into a pink glitter paper cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

I adhered both panels to a side folding A2 note card.

A Crow For Christmas Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I won a give away at @valleyoakpaper IG page. The prize I got was a Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween which I received the week of Halloween. Lots of good Halloween die images to create in this package. Since I rarely create Halloween cards, I challenged myself to use something from the package and make it Christmas themed. I chose the crow die set for this challenge.

I did a web research if it is possible to feature the crow on a Christmas card. Surprisingly, I can. I die cut the layers of the crow. The die set sleeve was helpful in making me plan the colors of the crow layers. I changed the colors of the beak, wing, hat trim, bow, monocle and claws. 

 

I die cut the beak and wing on dark gray cardstock. I blended black ink to the right side of these die cuts.

I die cut the hat trim and bow on red pearl cardstock.

I die cut the monocle on gold mirror cardstock. I punched a circle on a transparency. This circle is large enough to fit the monocle. 

I die cut the claws on mustard cardstock.

I outlined the brow of the crow and added a dot to the eye using a white gel pen.

I added the leaves which I trimmed from a wreath die cut. This was die cut on green glitter paper. I added a red gem to the center of the leaves.

The tree is a Tim Holtz tree ephemera. I added green glitter gel to the tips of the tree and a bit on the center. My glitter gel dried up after not using it for almost a year. I spritz water to it until the gel loosened enough to spread it. I used a micro tip applicator to apply the glitter gel to the tree. I set this aside to allow the glue to dry.

The frame is also from same Tim Holtz ephemera pack. I lightly blended ink to the outer edges of the frame.

I die cut a brown cardstock using a Lawn Fawn banner die. I spelled out the message using a Lawn Fawn Milo's ABC stamp set. It took a while to put the message together since some of the letter stamps will fall on its side or move. I used the negative cut of the banner to position the letters. Thankfully, none of the letters fell off after I inked the letters while it was attached to the acrylic block. I stamped the letters using red dye ink. It would have been better if I was able to emboss it but I did not want to push it since putting the letters together took a lot of effort.

I die cut a gray patterned paper using a stitched die. I adhered the ephemera to the panel. I adhered the bird to the banner, and adhered this to the panel with foam tape.
