Pastel Color Inspired Greeting Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The challenge theme is Cute +/or Pastel Colours. Our sponsor for this challenge is TLC Designs. The image I used on my card is linked below.

I printed the image on watercolor cardstock. I colored the image with Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. I particularly used the Holiday Pearlescent Set #2 to color the image then used the other colors to complete coloring the image. It is hard to capture the sheen in photo but somehow you can see it on the pencil and on the Pixie's hat. I used Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust to pain the wings. I fussy cut the image, leaving a white border around it.

For the card panel, I die cut a patterned paper using a stitched rectangle die. I created a window on this panel using a heart die. This heart die is part of a nesting heart die set. I die cut three more hearts using the heart dies that are next to each other in size. I created frames out of these three hearts by die cutting the next smaller sized heart on the large heart, and so on and so forth until all of the three hearts are cut into frames. I trimmed a pink cardstock at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and adhered this to the back of the window panel. I pieced in the heart frames to the heart window, adhering it with liquid adhesive.

For the sentiment, I am using a product new to my stash. This sentiment die is from Simon Says Stamp. It comes with a shadow die which I did not use on this card. I die cut the sentiment on one of the patterned papers in the set. I blended pink dye ink to it to intensify the color. I pounced sticky ink to this sentiment die cut. I poured Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder. I heat embossed this to melt the powder. I die cut three more pieces of this sentiment. I adhered one die cut over the other to create some dimension. I adhered the embossed sentiment on top. I placed something heavy over it for better adhesion while the glue dries. I adhered this to the center of the pieced heart.

I adhered the image with foam adhesive. I added small heart die cuts randomly to the sentiment. I painted LF Liquid Stardust to these hearts for some shimmer.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you join our challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Holographic Vinyl in Greeting Card

Hello! I am organizing my craft room. On my table is a corner where I place newly purchased items that I would like to use first before adding it to the rest of my supplies. In this way, I will remember why I bought a product, and also make me remember that I have this product in my stach to hopefully avoid dual purchases. So for this card, the new items that I am featuring are the Paper Smooches You Are A Blessing die and PS Stitching Basic die set.

I created this card to join the latest Paper Smooches Anything Goes Challenge. And, I created this to give to my 3rd son who will be celebrating his 14th birthday in July. One of his favorite colors is red.

I cut a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" red cardstock. I created a pattern hearts on this panel using the heart die in the PS Stitching Basic die set. This die creates holes for you to stitch on. Instead of stitching, I added the small circle die cuts created by this die from a Cricut Holographic Vinyl. It is like diamond painting. It is a very tedious process but very relaxing except if you lose a dot die cut. I only did this on the top and bottom hearts, leaving the middle row of hearts as is.

On a white cardstock, I die cut the PS You Are A Blessing die. The die cut also comes with a stitched frame which I did not use in this project. I kept this frame and the negative cut aside for a future project.

Using the rectangular negative cut created by the PS You Are A Blessing die cut, I positioned the rectangle stitched die from the PS Stitching Basic die set. The width of this stitching die perfectly fits the negative cut. I used partial die cutting technique to extend the height of the rectangle. Since this die just pokes holes on the paper, I used a craft knife to carefully cut the edges and create this into a frame.

I adhered the frame to the red cardstock. I used the negative cut created by the PS You Are A Blessing die as a guide in adhering the letters. I painted the colors with a red Karin Decobrush marker, putting the pigment on the bottom edge of the letters only. To spread the pigment, I used a Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen.

To cover the holes of the hearts behind the sentiment, I used the left over holographic vinyl by adhering this to a top folding note card, making sure that it will be behind hearts in the middle row. I then adhered the red panel.

Thank you for visiting my blog. In case you don't know yet, Paper Smooches is retiring its brand. There is a retirement sale going on. I am truly going to miss this brand for its fun and playful images and fonts. Check out their site and see if there is something you like.

Happy Birthday, Yrwin. You truly are a blessing.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day everyone!

Floating Image Space Scene Card

Hello! I created this card for the Lawnfawnatics Blog Create A Scene Challenge. I also got inspired by the recent NASA launch last May.

I created the galaxy background using Karin markers on Canson watercolor paper which you can appreciate more in the close-up photo below. I would like to thank Gladiis Moreno for the short video she shared on how to use Karin markers to create a galaxy background. I added splatters of gold paint from Finetec/Coliro Artist Mica Watercolor Paint set. I set this aside to dry.

Using the same watercolor paper and markers, I stamped the images from Lawn Fawn Out Of This World stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I dried the images with a heat gun before coloring it. I colored the astronaut's suit based on the SpaceX suit. I used a color pencil to create the U.S.A. flag on the suit. I fussy cut the images leaving a thin white border around it. I adhered a transparent tape on the back of the astronaut with a piece of tape.

I die cut the frames from LF #Awesome. I stacked 3 layers of this frame. I adhered a skinny double sided tape to two corners of the frame. I loosely adhered the tips of the thread to these tape. I covered these thread with the same skinny double sided tape.

I adhered the planets to the galaxy background. I rotated the frame to make it into a diamond shaped frame and give it a new look. I adhered this watercolored panel to the bottom of the stacked frame, and cut off the excess. For the top frame, I embossed this with Wow! Pearl Gold embossing powder using the Wow! Mixed Media Embossing brush to apply the embossing ink to the frame.

For the background panel, I was die cutting the LF Fancy Lattice Backdrop to the Paper Source Peacock cardstock but the negative cuts did not fell off so I decided to keep them attached to the the backdrop for an embossed/in-laid look. I applied a wide piece of tape on the back to keep all of the pieces intact.

After I treated the panel with an anti-static pouch, I painted the diamond pieces with the Wow! Mixed Media embossing brush. This works like a manicure for the nails. I think I overdid the paint on some areas but for the most part, I like this product. I poured the same pearl gold embossing powder to the area, then heat set it.

For the sentiment, I die cut a banner strip from the LF Flippin' Awesome die on the same colored cardstock. I had to partially die cut this banner so I can extend its length to accommodate the sentiment. The sentiment is from LF Lucky Stars stamp set. This was stamped with Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

I adhered the scene to the top of the panel and adhered the sentiment strip with foam adhesive to the bottom of the panel. I applied Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss pen to the planets.

I have a short video included here so you can see how the astronaut floats around the space.

Thank you for visiting my blog. My son, Ryan, did his space scene version using most of the products I used while these items are out on my table. Please check it out on my next blog post. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Two Cards, Two 6x6 Patterned Papers, In-Lay Technique

Hello. I created this card to partake in Honey Bee Stamps Buzzworthy Challenge in Facebook. The challenge is on using patterned paper. I have a very limited supply of Honey Bee stamps. And when I say limited, it is really very limited. So this is an extra challenge for me, using what supply I have on hand.

The patterned papers I am using is from a retired Studio Calico 6x6 paper pad. I cut the two patterned papers into 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I planned out the lay out of the dies on this panel. After I positioned the dies, I secured the dies with washi tapes. I also placed the patterned papers on top of each other. Luckily, the dies ran through both sheets with just one passing. I kept all the negative and positive cuts for the in-lay technique. The dies I used are from Honey Bee Bless Your Heart Honey Cuts, Lawn Fawn Cole's ABC, and Concord & 9th Love You So. The heart die cut an outline and a stitched heart wherein I stamped the word heart using a dark grey dye ink. The sentiment is from the Honey Bee Bless Your Heart stamp set.

My sentiment was die cut off center so I trimmed a quarter of an inch off the left side of the panel. I applied adhesive to a white top folding A2 note card. I adhered the patterned paper to the glued area. This is when the fun begins...for me, anyway. I pieced all the die cuts to the negative cut of the die, interchanging the patterned papers. Of course, I lost the tiniest negative cuts of the letter 's', but I just die cut the matching patterned paper and, nobody will ever know that it is not the actual piece that is glued to it.

For the lighter background with the darker die cuts, I applied Nuvo Glitter Morning Dew Crystal Drops. For the darker background with the lighter die cuts, the sentiment cannot be read due to the busy pattern of the dark background. I did not want to give up in creating the second card. I need to do something to make the sentiment pop-out. I first applied Versamark ink to the letters using a Versamark ink pen. I poured Wow! White Pearl embossing powder to the area, then heat set it. I made sure the heat gun is warm to prevent the card from warping. This wasn't enough to make the sentiment pop. Next, I outlined the letters using Sakura Black Glaze pen. I think this kinda did the trick. For the heart, I die cut another heart on the light colored patterned paper. I stamped the sentiment to this.  I trimmed off the area with the sentiment while the hearts are on top of the other to create this into a strip sentiment. I pieced this on the heart, creating a striped pattern.

Using a cutter, I trimmed off strips of patterned paper to adhere to the edges of the die-cut sentiment panel.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you find inspiration in today's card. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

In-lay and Dimensional In-lay Card

We are celebrating two birthdays this July. My eldest and third son's birthdays are next to each other. Rudy, my eldest, will be celebrating his birthday in the Philippines this Saturday with his grandparents. I created this card for him. I also created this card for this month's Sugar Pea Designs Mix It Up Challenge. It is my first time to join in their challenge blog.

I have two Sugar Pea products in my supply. I have these items for a while and have not had a chance to use it. Using the SP Harlequin cover plate, I die cut a red cardstock to mimic the strawberry color in the photo inspiration. I am trying out Jennifer McGuire's Background Die Cut Technique in this card. After I die cut the red cardstock, I carefully applied liquid glue to the outline die cut while the die cut is still in the metal die. I adhered a side-folding A2 card to this, making sure I lined up the edges, and placed something heavy on top of this while the glue is drying.

Working on the main element of the card, I cut strips of cardstock in different colors at 4 3/4"x 3/4". This imitates the candy sprinkles on the inspiration photo. I die cut the SP Heart Beat die on these colored cardstocks. I kept both positive and negative die cuts. I traced a Simon Says Stamp Bramble heart die on a white cardstock. I don't have a solid heart die with the same heart shape as this SSS heart die. I fussy cut this heart. I applied liquid glue to the whole heart die cut. I adhered the negative die cuts to this, covering the heart. I then adhered the positive die cut. Using the heart as a guide, I cut off the excess. I added glitter to the Heart Beat die cut using a Sakura Clear Dust Gelly roll pen. I adhered this heart to a vellum. I cut the vellum leaving a small border around the paper pieced heart. I wrote stitched lines around the heart on the vellum using a white Uni-Ball Signo Broad pen. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. I heat embossed this on a black cardstock strip using a white HA embossing powder.

Back to the front panel, I carefully lifted the metal die off the note card. I removed the negative die cuts using a Cricut Weeder tool. I applied foam tapes to the negative spaces, omitting the area where the heart will be adhered which is on the right end of the card. I pieced back each die cut.

I applied double layered foam adhesive to the back of the heart. I adhered this to the right end of the card just like in the inspiration lay-out. I cut off the overang.

I added Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Confetti mix to the heart.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant & creative day!

Father's Day License Plate Card

I was asked by a friend to create a card for her husband for Father's Day. This is the same friend of who asked me to create a birthday card for her husband, too. (http://ienjoywhatido.blogspot.com/2016/02/masculine-interactive-birthday-card.html

For this card, I turned to the Cricut Design Space and browsed under the Father's Day category. I found this License Plate cut file from the Holiday Cakes cartridge. After duplicating the base cut, I rotated this 180 degrees and welded both the base cuts to create a card base. I added the scoring line on the middle.

I designed and customized the layer cut by adding my friend's husband's name on the top. I chose a font close to the fonts on the layer cut. I cut the layers three times in 3 different colored cardstocks, red, blue and white, to re-create the Illinois license plate where they live. The size of this layer is 12" x 6", just like a real license plate. With the card base, this is a huge card since the card base is slightly larger than the layer cut to matte it. I kept all the negative die cuts since I will be in-laying this later on.

Using a Post-It Full Adhesive Roll, I masked the upper portion of the white layered cut. I also applied this on the back of the layered cut. This is where I attached the negative cuts using the letter cuts as guide. I blended Tim Holtz Distress Inks on this bottom area, starting with the lighter blue shade of Tumbled Glass, then blending in Faded Jeans.

This is where the tedious process begins. I first applied a double sided tape to the back of the white layered cut. This will make the in-laying process easier. With the exposed adhesive from the double sided tape, all I needed to do is piece in the die cuts. This is why I kept the negative die cuts.

I layered the different die cuts by adhering one on top of the other using wet adhesive for more wiggle time. I made sure that the die cut color that will be on top is the same as the color of the Illinois license plate. I adhered a silver Duck Tape around the edges of the front of the card base to serve as the matte. I adhered the layer cut to the card base using a strong double sided adhesive tape for stability. For added shimmer, I applied Wink of Stella to the stars and the main sentiment, No. 1 Dad.

Embossed Blended Background With In-Laid Sentiment Card

I started off by blending pigment inks on Strathmore Bristol paper. I used Memento Luxe Sweet Plum and Avery Elle Raspberry. Since these are pigment inks, I allowed this to dry. I brushed a powder tool to this then stamped the flowers from Altenew Hennah Elements stamp set using Versamark ink. I stamped a couple of flowers only before I poured Wow! Gold Rich embossing powder to this and heat set it. Once I filled up the paper, using a brush and Prima Color Bloom in the colors of Tea Stain, Pearl White & Cotton Candy, I brushed each color on a flower randomly. I dried this by applying heat to it. To fill up the empty spaces in between the flowers, I stamped the dot using Hero Arts Black dye ink. I added a white dot onto this using Uni-Ball Signo Broad gel pen.

I die cut the word 'Thanks' using My Favorite Things Many Thanks die on this embossed-colored panel making sure I saved all the small pieces. I die cut another thanks on black cardstock. I applied Ranger Pearl onto this. I sprayed mist onto it.

I cut the embossed-colored panel to 5 1/4 x 4 1/4, then this panel onto a fun foam making sure there is plenty of glue on the area where I will in-lay the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment onto the negative space including the small cut pieces.

For the note card, I ran the Versamark on the top and bottom edges of a top folding card. I applied black embossing powder then heat set it. I adhered the embossed-colored panel on this.

Thanks for viewing my blog.
