Rainbow Greeting Card

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's card was inspired by this month's Pink Fresh Studio's Blog Challenge Rainbow Reverie. 

I used the colors of the rainbow to color the frames. I used the PFS Decorative Frames Press Plate and Die for the background. I did the letter press first by inking the press plate with a black dye ink and using the Spellbinders Betterpress System and cardstock. I have not letterpressed for a while so I had a couple of rejects before coming up with this one. 

Using the coordinating die, I die cut the frames. I used a metal shim in cutting the frames since the Betterpress cardstock is thicker than the regular cardstock. 

I blended Tim Holtz Distress inks on the frames. I blend the colors where it overlaps. The colors I used are Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Blueprint Sketch, Mowed Lawn and Seedless Preserves. I used the reject scraps to layer behind the blended frames to add depth. 

I adhered these frames to a scrap white cardstock cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I trimmed this panel to fourths to so I can rotate it and create a different pattern. 

I stamped the flower from the PFS Lovely Blooms stamp set on vellum using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I poured black metallic embossing folder to this and heat set it. I die cut the flower using the coordinating die. I used vellum for a softer look. I colored the floral bunch using the coordinating stencil. I used the same ink colors I used on the frames.

I stamped the sentiment on vellum also. The sentiment is from PFS Humbled & Grateful stamp set. I stamped this using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment using the coordinating die. I love sentiments with coordinating dies since it saves me time from fussy cutting it. 

I die cut extras on white and black cardstocks. I adhered the vellum piece to the white cardstock. I used a sticker maker to add adhesive to the back of the vellum. I adhered this to the black die cuts slightly off setting it for a shadow look. 

I adhered this to the panel where the frames meet.

Slimline Christmas Card

 

Hello! I created this card to join the latest Lawn Fawnatics challenge on Happy Holiday Critters. I always enjoy joining their challenge because I love Lawn Fawn products and I enjoy creating using their products. Their challenges make me think out of the box, extending the intended use of my Lawn Fawn products.

I started off by stamping the critters on watercolor paper. The images are from LF Party Animal stamp set. I colored the images using Karin markers. I fussy cut the images up to the line, lining the edge with a black marker for a finished edge. Whew! Fussy cutting the antlers is sure very tricky! I created a scarf for each critter, cutting up some paper from LF Knit Picky 6x6 patterned paper. I drew the scarf then traced this with a black marker. I fussy cut the scarf and lined the edges with a black marker. It was very easy to adhere the scarf to the bear. With the fox and the reindeer, I had to cut their heads off to be able to tuck in the scarf underneath its chins. Sounds horrible, right? Rest assured, their heads were adhered back to place. 

I die cut the wreath from LF Mini Wreath on different shades of green cardstock. I cut the wreath so I can create this into a larger wreath. I die cut a thin circle frame into which I adhered the cut up wreath, layering the colors on top of each other. I, as Laura Bassen calls it, zhuzh up the leaves on the wreath to give it dimension. 

I die cut a Carta Bella plaid patterned paper using the Pink Fresh Studio Slim Stitched Scallop Circle Die to create windows. I adhered the wreath on the circles, covering the scallops. I inserted the critter into this wreath, applying liquid adhesive to the bottom area only. I added foam adhesive to the back of the heads of the critters. 

I die cut circles slightly larger than the scalloped circular window. I die cut the circles on a patterned paper from LF Snow Day Remix Petite Paper Pack. I adhered this to the back of the windows and the critters. 

I die cut the bow and the berries on red mirror cardstock. Since my mirror cardstock is single sided, I snipped off the portion that wraps around the bow. I wrapped this small piece to the bow with the shiny side up. I adhered this to the bottom of the wreath and randomly added the berries to the wreath.

I added Zig Clear Wink Of Stella to the wreath. I added Sakura Black Glaze pen to the critter's eyes. 

For the sentiment, which I will say was a brave move of mine, I heat embossed this using white embossing powder. If I am going to do this again, I would have stamped the sentiment first before going through all the gluing. The sentiment is from LF Offset Sayings: Christmas stamp set.

Felt, Flock and Another Use for Border Die

Hello! I created this card to join in Pinkfresh Studio's Card Sketch Challenge in Facebook. I am using my all time favorite Pinkfresh Studio Magical Unicorn stamp and die sets.

To accommodate the design, I created a larger card, a 5"x7" card. To create the card base, I cut a heavy weight card stock, one at 5"x7", and one at 5"x7 1/4". The latter is longer so I can create a hinge to adhere these two cuts together and create a top folding note card. I scored this at 1/4" to create the hinge.

I cut two more pieces of card stock, a white and a gray, both at 4 1/2" x 6 1/2".

Using the Hero Arts Oval Nesting die, I die cut two different sized ovals at the center, to create a stacked look. I traced the smallest oval window on the white card stock that I will be using as card front. This will guide me with stamping and arranging the elements of the card.

I created the horn by die cutting it on a white card stock. Keeping the negative cut, I applied a piece of non-tack tape on the back of this negative cut and pieced in the horn. I set this on the Misti Stamping Tool. I positioned the stamp on the horn die cut, picked it up with the Misti, and inked it with a yellow die ink followed with Tsukineko The Essential Glue Pad. I poured Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder to it and heat set it. I sprinkled Inkadinkado Canary Flocking Powder to this. After I tapped the excess off, I covered this with a wax paper and burnished the flocking powder to the horn with a scraper.

I die cut the flowers and leaves using felt. I stamped the flower and leaf details on the felt using the same piecing in technique as above. I used a yellow pigment ink for the detail on the white flower, and I used Tim Holtz Distress oxide inks on the yellow flowers and leaves.

I die cut the ears on white card stock, die cutting 6 pieces of the ears. I stacked and adhered 3 of the ears on top of each other. I pounced the glue pad on the ears, poured sticky embossing powder on it, and heat set it. This time, I am using a white Deco Foil Flock Transfer sheet. I placed a piece of it on top of the ear die cut, with the fussy side facing the stick embossing powder. I placed a piece of paper on top and burnish it.

For the eyes, what helped me in positioning the eyes for stamping is the printed plastic film that comes with the stamp set. I positioned this film on the area where I want the eyes to be, placed the eyelashes stamp on top of it, then picked this up with the Misti. I did the same flocking technique as I did with the horn, only this time, I used a Martha Stewart black flocking powder.

The sentiment is from Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Things To Say stamp set. I stamped this on a vellum with Versamark ink. I embossed this with Hero Arts Silver embossing powder. I doubled the vellum by running an extra vellum through the Xyron Sticker Maker. After I adhered the vellum layers together, I die cut this into a sentiment strip using Avery Elle Elle-ments Simple Sentiments die.

I die cut the Pinkfresh Studio Lacy Floral Border die on vellum. I die cut this 4 times. I run this through the Xyron Sticker Maker. I adhered this to the gray window panel. I cut off the excess keeping the extras and adhering it to any open space. I reinforced any areas that did not adhere with liquid glue that I placed on a spatula, sliding the spatula underneath the intricate die cut. I placed something heavy on top of this while the glue dries.

Putting the card together, I erased my oval pencil mark on the front card base. I adhered the white window panel on top of this. I adhered the vellum sentiment strip next, sliding the edges underneath the white oval window piece. I adhered the gray window panel, the horn, the ears, flowers and leaves. Instead of a glue gun, I used the Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere the felt. I am so glad it worked.

To fill in the gap between the eyes and the sentiment strip, I added cheeks on the unicorn. I created a circle stencil then ink blended Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress ink on the open area.

I adhered Pretty Pink Posh Buttercream jewels on the flower centers.

I applied a double adhesive tape to the hinge. I adhered the other white card stock panel to this hinge making sure everything is aligned.

Clean and Simple Shimmery Focal Point

Hello! I created this card to participate in the Pinkfresh Studio March Challenge. I am using a technique I've used on a previous card I've created (Using Negative Die Cuts to Create New Cards) in which I used double sided adhesive and glitter to the recessed areas of the die cut.

I am using the one of the dies in the Pinkfresh Floral Squares die set. I am using colors from the color challenge inspiration. I had to do a bit of die cut surgery to create a colored die cut. You may just cut this die on a white color card stock and color the elements with a marker instead of die cutting the elements on different colored card stocks. For the back panel, I placed a double sided adhesive tape on a blue cardstock. Without removing the release paper on top, I positioned the floral square die on top of the release paper and ran this through the die cut machine. The die only cuts up to the adhesive layer, and it leaves a embossed impression on the card stock layer. Using a craft knife, I carefully removed the release paper on the areas where I will be applying glitter. I poured Elizabeth Craft Designs Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over this. After I poured off the excess. I burnish the glitter with my finger and wipe off the excess with a Swiffer cloth. I continued to remove the rest of the release paper, adhering the stem and the frame. With the flowers and petals, I wanted glitter on the petals so I did the same technique as I did on the blue background. I adhered the petals first before adhering the flower.

I added yellow flock to the flower center. I applied liquid glue to the center of the flower. I poured the flock to this area. I pressed the flock to the glue, then set it to dry. Do you remember this old embellishment? Do you still have a flock in your stash.

For the card panel, I am using a top folding white A2 note card. I embossed the front of the card using a Li'l Inker Design Quilted Stitched Pattern Die. I spritz Prima Cotton Candy Color Blooms to this embossed area.

For the sentiment, I embossed a sentiment from the Pinkfresh Studio My Favorite Things To Say stamp set. I used the same colored card stock I used for the frame.

I adhered the flower frame and the sentiment to the center of the note card.

Unicorn Birthday Cake Shaped Card

Hello! My youngest son's birthday is on Sunday. I created this card with him as my inspiration. He loves unicorns like me.

After I saw Jennifer McGuire's card featuring the Hero Arts Decorate A Cake stamp set, I knew I have to recreate her card for my son's birthday. Since I don't have the stamp set, I used my Cricut to cut a tiered cake. I did some editing on the cake image in the Cricut Design Space, replacing some of the guide cuts with drawn lines. I also used the We R Memory Keepers Quill Glue Pen for the cake stand scalloped lines so I can embossed some glitter to it.

After I had the cake cut, I did a bit of surgery on the cake. I cut off the top tier of the cake and also cut off the foot of the cake stand.

I stamped the horn using the Pink Fresh Studio Magical Unicorn stamp and die sets. I heat embossed the horn with Wow! Midas Touch embossing powder. I embossed it twice. I heat embossed two horns so I can adhere it back to back. I die cut the horns using the matching die.

I die cut the ears next using white card stock. I traced the negative cuts on a pink and gray card stock, and vellum. The pink and vellum pieces will be the inside of the ears while the gray piece is for the back of the ears.

I stamped the eyes on the cake using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I colored the edges of the cake using a Copic marker. I adhered the pink cut trim on the cake. I applied Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Pen to this trim for more sparkle.

I started building the shaped card. I adhered the horn and ears to the back of the cake piece with the eyes. I adhered the silver card stock next. I did the same process to the back of the cake. To make this into a card, I cut a strip of acetate and scored this at the middle. I applied a thin double sided adhesive tape to the acetate right next to the score line. I adhered one side to the top of the cake front, and adhered the other side to the top of the back of the cake.

For the flowers, I die cut several colors of card stock, following the colors in the color theme of this month's Pink Fresh Studio Challenge. I heat embossed the flower accents on the flower using the same embossing powder. I curled the flowers for added dimension. I adhered gems to the center of the flowers. I adhered the flowers to the cake.

I stamped a sentiment in the inside of the card which is also from the same stamp set.

Cricut-Edited Digi. Image on Glittered Stenciled Background

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog with the theme Things With Wings. Our image sponsor for this challenge is Oddball Art Co. The image I used is called Fiona Feary. This image is available as a zombie fairy and a cute fairy. The image supplied to us is the zombie fairy. I prefer the cute fairy over the zombie fairy. Good thing, I was able to edit the zombie image using the Cricut Design Space. I erased the stitched up lip. I used the CDS to print the image. I was going to have the Cricut machine cut the image as well but I must have done something wrong in CDS because it is being cut as an outline image. No worries! I just fussy cut the image. It was a bit of a struggle cutting it since I printed the image on a Bristol Smooth paper. I also printed the image on Clearprint Heavy Vellum and fussy cut the wings. I applied Ranger Glossy Accents to the edge of the wings to adhere it to the colored image.  This allowed the wings to be pulled up for some dimension.

I colored the image using Zig Clean Color markers. I applied Clear Wink of Stella to the vellum wings.

I am using the the ICraft Pixie Spray for the first time. It is definitely a good product to use especially with intricate stencils. I am using a Memory Box Heartwood stencil for this card to create the background. After I sprayed the back of the stencil with the Pixie Spray, I positioned this over a purple cardstock. I applied Cosmic Shimmer Antique Rose Kiss over the stencil, using the sponge applicator included in the lid. I carefully removed the stencil and cleaned it using soapy water. I set the cardstock aside to dry.

For the embellishments, I die cut the Pink Fresh Studio Floral Squares die on white cardstock. I strategically positioned the die cuts since I only need the inner elements of the square. I trimmed off the square frame. I also die cut a lavender cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Happy Birthday die. I adhered the flower die cuts and the sentiment on the stenciled glitter purple panel. I adhered the digi. image on the center using foam adhesive. I trimmed 1/4" off the edges, then adhered this to a lavender cardstock with fun foam. I traced the die cut sentiment with a metallic purple gel pen. This panel was adhered to a white top folding A2 note card.

Another Unicorn Birthday Card

 

I am in a roll on Unicorn Birthday Cards. My 7-year old requested another Unicorn card for his friend in class. Who I am to say no to my sweet boy.  

If you follow my blog, you know that my last post is on a Unicorn card, too. If not, just click the previous post and you will see what I mean. 

I am using the Pink Fresh Studio Magical Unicorn stamp and die sets. I stamped the horn on gold cardstock using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick, Cracked Pistachio and Wilted Violet. I used the Misti Stamping Tool to achieve a blended multi-colored horn. The good thing about the oxide inks is that it stays wet long enough to apply embossing powder to it and heat emboss it. I used Judi Kins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder. I die cut the horn using the matching die.

I also die cut the ears on gold cardstock. I die cut a brown fun foam and adhered it to the gold die cut ears. I ink blended the a white cardstock and adhered it to the back of the ears.

I die cut the flowers and leaves on white cardstock. I inked these die cuts with the same THDO inks adding Spun Sugar and Antique Linen. I heat embossed the flower centers and the leaf spines using Versamark ink and Judi Kins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder.  I spritz some of the flowers with pearlized water so I can curl the petals. I set this aside to dry. I also die cut some leaves using gold cardstock. 

I die cut a white cardstock panel using a stitched die but I end up trimming off the stitched edges later on. I heat embossed the eyes with Recollections Charcoal embossing powder. I stamped the sentiment using a stamp from Simon Says Stamp Jumbo Stripes stamp set. The ink I used is Delicata Golden Glitz pigment ink. I die cut the recipient’s name using Lawn Fawn Cole's ABC die and a Recollection pink mirror cardstock. I adhered that to the white panel. 

This is when I made a mistake in stamping. I was trying to create a multi-colored background of stars and dots for unicorn. I traced the horn and ears on the white panel to avoid stamping on these areas that will be covered. I did not use the Misti since I am using really small stamps. The first attempt I made was a fail. I did not made a good star impression. I tried re-stamping it by lining the stamp with the stamped image but I messed it up some more. I did not want to put this panel to waste after all the work. I trimmed off the stitched edges and trimmed off a part of the top. I adhered the horns, ears, flowers and leaves to this panel. I also added flower sequins and Nuvo drops on some of the flower sequin centers.

On a top folding A2 white note card, I traced the top part of the unicorn panel. I stamped the stars and dots to this area using the same color combination. I adhered the unicorn panel to this note card.

Unicorn Window Birthday Card

 

Hello! This card was especially requested by my 7-year old son to give to his classmate/friend. He chose the main element of unicorn and the colors to use in the card. After I sketched the card lay-out and had it approved by my son, it is time to create a card.

I recently bought the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide spray. I am using Strathmore Watercolor paper to spray it on. It took a while for the ink to dry despite the heating. If you plan to emboss with this medium as background, make sure to test it out first before embossing. The unicorn stamp and die sets I am using is from Pink Fresh Studio. I already used this product on a Valentine's project. I embossed the flower center outline on the sprayed watercolor paper. I embossed this using white embossing powder. I die cut these flowers using the matching die. I die cut the leaves using green cardstock. I die cut the unicorn ears using a pearl white cardstock. I die cut a fun foam using the same die. I adhered the ear die cuts using liquid adhesive. I adhered this to a pink felt, then fussy cut the ear. For the horn, I embossed this on white cardstock using Wow! Gold Ultra High embossing powder. I embossed this twice to add more depth.

For the front panel, I die cut a white cardstock using a Mama Elephant stitched die from Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I flicked watercolors on this panel using Finetec Gold Pearlescent watercolors. I set this aside to dry. I die the recipient's name using Lawn Fawn Cole's ABC die. I die cut a pink glittered cardstock and fun foam using the letter dies, and adhered the foam to the back of the glittered carstock.

I stamped the eyes on the cardstock panel with Versafine Onyx black ink. I embossed this using clear embossing powder. I stamped a sentiment from Ellen Hutson Totally Random Sayings Vol. 1 stamp set using WPlus9 Sweet Nectar dye ink. I adhered the letters next.

I stamped the top portion of a white cardstock measuring 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" with Hero Arts Star Galaxy Background stamp and Avery Elle Silver Fox pigment ink. I also added stars using a Heidi Swap stencil using the same ink and a sponge dauber.

I trimmed a Hero Arts Folded Acetate card to create a window on the front panel. I scored a 1/4" tab on the top to create hinge for the acetate window. I applied a double adhesive tape to this hinge, then adhered it to the stamped-stenciled cardstock panel which will be the back of the card. I trimmed 2 1/4" off the top of the front panel. I applied double adhesive tape to the back of this cut panel. I lined the bottom of this cut panel to the bottom of the back white cardstock panel.

I adhered the horn to the acetate using liquid adhesive. Then, I adhered the ears. I adhered the flowers using foam adhesive. I tucked the leaves on the back of the flowers. I adhered gems to the centers of the flowers.

The inside sentiment is from Altenew Halftone Stars stamp set.

Valentine's Treat 2019

Happy Valentine's, everyone! Just stopping by for a short post. I created these for my First Grader's Valentine's to his classmates. He prefers the unicorn but he does not think the boys would like it, so he chose dinosaurs for the boys. 

This unicorn Valentine's card was created using Pink Fresh Studio Magical Unicorn stamp and die sets. I changed the flowers into a heart to make it Valentine-themed. The sentiment was chosen by my son and it is from Pretty Pink Posh Friends Forever stamp set. 

The dinosaur was cut using the Cricut Explore, cutting it in four layers of different colored cardstocks. I added details to the die cut. The heart is cut using Lawn Fawn Stitched Heart Stackables. I used the same sentiment stamp.
