Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Belated Happy World Cardmaking Day! This is an annual holiday for cardmakers like me celebrated every first Saturday of October. I always look forward to this occasion especially the cardmaking events and challenges. My most favorite is the Doodlebug challenges. I always make it a point to join.
The first card I created is for the sketch challenge.
I added an interactive feature to the sketch.
I fussy cut the camera from a Doodlebug cut apart sheet. I used a craft knife to create the opening.
For the pull out photo, I used a die from Mama Elephant that cuts a 6 pane window. I cut the squares created by the die to create 4 square frames. I adhered a Doodlebug vellum on one of the frames. I die cut a tab on white cardstock and adhered it to one of the frames. I also cut a thin strip of cardstock from the left over window die cut. This skinny strip is longer than the width of the photo frame. It will act as a stopper for the photo frame so it will stay in the camera.
I stacked the frames to give it stability sandwiching the vellum and the tab.
I die cut a small heart and die cut the face on pearl gray cardstock. The smiley face was cut using the snowman's face from the Doodlebug Snow Cute Doodle Cuts. I adhered the heart over the vellum.
To allow the pull-out to move freely, I adhered thin strips of foam adhesive on the top and bottom edges of the camera.
I added stitching to the large sentiment on the cut apart sheet.

For the second card, I was inspired by the mood board challenge specifically the party hat and its colors.
I recreated this part of the mood board by adding a pop-up party hat feature. I created the party hat by lightly tracing a triangle die with a pencil on a white cardstock. I moved this triangle die to the right side of this triangle and lightly traced it again with a pencil. I repeated this on the left side of the first traced triangle. I cut the this joined triangles following the traced outer line of the three touching triangles. I scored the party hat using the inner lines as guide. I trimmed a bit off the left & right edges.
I added Doodlebug chevron washi tapes on the front of the party hat to create a stripe design.
For the party hat topper, I die cut a circle on a white crepe paper and snipped it from the edges towards the center without cutting it all the way. I die cut a strip of blue crepe paper using a fringe die. I adhered this to a small circle die cut. I adhered the white crepe paper on top of it. I added an additional layer on the back with another circle white crepe paper. I adhered this on the top of the party hat. I added a Doodlebug Sprinkle on the center of the hat.
I adhered a blue trim on the bottom of the party hat using a hot glue.
I trimmed a green cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I embossed this with a 3D embossing folder. I flicked gold mica paint on this panel.
For the sentiment, I prepped a gold matte cardstock with anti-static powder tool. I inked the sentiment stamp with black pigment ink. I poured black embossing powder over the sticky ink then heat set it. I fussy cut the sentiment leaving a small border around it.
I adhered the party hat to the green cardstock panel, applying glue on the center only. I adhered a strip of foam inside the party hat to keep the hat popped out.
I adhered the fussy cut strip over the party hat. This party hat does not lay flat so it will need a 3D envelope.
I hope you like my Happy World Cardmaking Day makes. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
