Interactive Window Card

I am using Eekers Knitty Kitty Digis for this project. I uploaded the digi image to Cricut Craft Room and had it drawn using a black Cricut marker. I colored the image using Copic markers. My inspiration for coloring the cats are my sister's cats, B and Ryan.

For the window, I cut an American Crafts patterned paper using a Mama Elephant Peek A Frame die. This die cuts only the three sides of the window and just leaves a score mark on the top.  I have an extra window die cut which I must have saved from a previous project. The die cut was in kraft cardstock so instead of die cutting a new cardstock to fit my project, I colored the die cut with a brown Copic marker.  I adhered this to the front of the patterned paper window to make it sturdy. I am afraid that with the patterned paper not thick enough, it will tear easily with the open and close window mechanism.

I adhered the colored digital image panel to the back of the window panel, centering the cats, making sure they can be seen through the window.

To keep the window shut close, I created a sentiment strip using Simon Says Stamp Sentimental Circles stamp set. I did some masking to make the sentiment into a single lined sentiment. This was heat embossed using white Hero Arts embossing powder.  Remember snaps? I used these to accent the sentiment. I applied adhesive to the bottom part of the sentiment strip and adhered this to the bottom part of the window, just enough to keep the window closed.

I hope you join us in today's bi-weekly challenge @ Incy Wincy Designs Love Challenge.  Let me greet you as early as now, Happy Valentine's!  Don't forget to share the love!

Collage Nativity Card

The challenge for me in creating this card is coming up with coordinating embellishments to re-create the lay-out of the sketch in today's bi-weekly Incy Wincy Designs Challenge. I used Copic markers to color the image. I later end up fuzzy cutting it leaving a small white border.

For the background (which is just one of many =)), I used Strathmore Bristol paper to blend Tim Holtz Distress inks. I blended Tumbled Glass to the whole panel, which is about 4 1/2" x 5". I have no definite plans at this point so I ink blended the whole panel. I masked one part at a time to create rays coming from the right upper corner of the panel. I blended Blue Sketch and Faded Jeans to create the night sky part while the light areas are the rays coming from the star. I pounced pearl Perfect Pearl powder on the light areas. I later cut this using the second largest SSS rectangle die. It was too large for my intended lay-out, so I partially die-cut it to create a custom sized rectangle.

Looking through my Christmas paper packs, I am using Fancy Pants Timbergrove collection. Following the sketch, I created a panel using two different patterned papers. I taped it on the back before die cutting it using Simon Says Stamped Stitched Rectangles die. I used the biggest rectangle to cut this half & half panel.

I created a hill to ground the scene using a light brown cardstock and die cutting it with Avery Elle-ments Custom Panels die. I die cut to create some layers. I added stitching details to the outer corners of the ground using the SSS die. I embossed it with a We R Memory Keepers Tide embossing folder. I inked one with TH Ground Espresso, and inked the other with Vintage Photo.

For the upper half of the panel, I added stars. I die cut a Hobby Lobby vellum with spots of glitter using the SSS die. The spots were not enough to create a starry night sky. I can't find a star stamp in my stash that I like to use for this card. So, I used some silver Studio Calico star sequins and adhered it under the vellum for a muted look.

For the corner elements of the sketch, I stamped a sentiment on the same green patterned paper using an old Inkadinkado Christmas stamp. I heat embossed the sentiment using two different kinds of pearl powder from Wow!, a white and a silver. I didn't see any difference between the sentiment was heat embossed. Even if I did aim for a variation in colors between the star and the sentiment, I just kept it as is. I cut this in a triangular shape for the top right corner, sort of where the rays are coming from. For the bottom corner, I die cut the wood grain paper using a Paper Smooches Toppers Wise Die.

I added shimmer to the hay using clear Spectrum Noir. I added Novu Crystal drops to the stars and to the bottom corner embellishment.

Before I started adhering the elements to this collage card, I ran the edges of the base card on a Versamark ink pad. I applied Wow! Rich Pale Gold and heat embossed it.

A lot of details in creating this card. I hope you like it. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a blessed & brilliant day!

Candy Inspired Coloring

We are currently having an 'Inspired By Your Favorite Candy' Challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Seeing the Ice Cream Shop image by Polkadoodles, I got my inspiration from the Gingerbread House and all the candy decorations that come with it. My youngest son asked for one last Christmas, and I felt bad that it got sold out pretty fast. We will make one this year for Christmas and Halloween. Yeah, that's right. Target sells a Halloween version of the Gingerbread House which is also sold out at the moment. Can you believe that?

Back to the project, it is such a challenge to color this one. There are too many elements to color, so I got challenged by color choice and the size of the elements. This is the second piece that I am coloring so I was extra careful not to mess it up. I used Copics to color the images. I am not really good in taking note of what colors I used since I tend to just pick the markers from the box, then put it back when I am pulling new ones out.

I added the Magda Polakow critters to complete the scene. I colored the critters with Copics. I fuzzy cut the images. I love the way they fit into the scene by having them look like they are sitting on the stools. I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the eyes.

To add more details to the scene, I stamped the background with clouds from Lawn Fawn Into The Woods stamp set using Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass dye ink. I stamped some grass from Mama Elephant Just Hatched stamp set using SSS Apple Green dye ink. I added some ice cream from LF Party Animal stamp set. I stamped the ice cream, colored it with Copics and fuzzy cut it. (It comes with a matching die which I don't have.) I cut a fence using Cricut Wrap It Up cartridge on a Recollection Woodgrain embossed specialty paper.

For the sentiment, I die cut a red cardstock using Little B Handwritten cutting die. I embossed this using Wow! Ultra Thick clear powder and I adhered this to a white strip of cardstock. I embossed this strip with LF Stitched Borders die. I snipped one edge to create a fishtail banner.

I adhered this panel onto a red cardstock slightly larger to create a mat. I then adhered this to a kraft colored card base.

Embossed Digital Stamp on Dura-Lar Film Shaker Card

I resized the image to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I prepared the area where I will print the image on with the anti-static powder tool. I printed the image on Dura-Lar Film using my ink jet printer. I immediately poured clear embossing powder to the image and heat embossed it. The film stood up to the heat of the heat gun. No warping at all.  For this project, I used Copic markers to color the image. I colored the embossed side but I plan to put the wrong side out when I assemble the card. I applied red stickles to the hearts and orange stickles to the orange flowers.

For the background, I die cut a 4 1/2" x 6" Strathmore Bristol paper using Taylored Expression Rolling Cloud die. I first laid out the dies and arranged it to how I want the clouds cut. I secured the dies with tape and die cut the paper. I slightly offset the dies to create various alignment. I came up with a total of 5 pieces. The technique used in my background is inspired by a video tutorial by Stephanie Klauck for MFT Stamps (Whimsical Waves Background.) As what Stephanie did, I inked each piece with a different color. I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Broken China. I adhered these pieces to a scrap piece of cardstock making sure all the pieces are aligned, just like puzzle piecing all the pieces. I spritz water onto this panel, allowed the water to seep in, then dabbed the water off with a paper towel. This technique created some texture on the ink blended background. I then spritz this panel with Ranger Perfect Pearl diluted in water using a mini mister.

To create the shaker element, I wanted to use a scalloped rectangle frame to cut an outline and also cut the cardstock layers for the shaker part. I can't find the right rectangle frame in my stash to do this job. The closest is SSS Frames Craft Die. The scalloped rectangle die that comes in this set cuts out a very narrow scalloped frame. Instead of using cardstocks to stack on top of another, I cut small strips of foam adhesive. I did doubled up on the foam adhesive for more space for the shaker elements to shake. I also used this die to cut the cloud panel to unify the scallop edge on all layers of the shaker card.

I cut the Dura-Lar Film with scissors using the negative curved rectangle cut as guide. I left a bit of a margin at the edges when I cut the film. I adhered this to a purple scalloped rectangle die cut using liquid glue. I adhered the double stacked foam tape. I rubbed a used dryer cloth to the film to decrease the static. I also used the anti-static powder tool on the edges of the foam to lessen the cling of the shakers to the sticky foam.

I poured some Martha Stewart and Simon Says Stamp sequins to the cloud panel. I adhered the film panel on top of this. I made sure the scallops are aligned before I applied firm pressure to adhere both panels together. Now, the shaker portion is done.

The die is smaller than a regular A2 card so my card base measures 4" X 5 1/4". I adhered the shaker element to this note card.

For the sentiment, I die cut a purple cardstock using Lawn Fawn Thinking of You die. I adhered a double sided tape to the back of the cardstock first before running this through the die cut machine. I have to run it a couple of times to make sure it cuts all the way. The good thing about this die cut is the ability to manipulate it. I curved the sentiment die cut to fit the space in the bottom. I used a Spica Clear Glitter pen and wrote over the letters of the sentiment die cut to add some sparkle to the die cut.

Copic Colored Sasayaki Glitter Bedtime Teddy Digi Stamp

I have to color at least one of the images provided by Sasayaki Glitter. The images are very cute and irresistible to color.

The colors I used are listed below. Have you ever used the 0 marker to create accents to your Copic coloring? I loved the way the dots were created using the 0 marker. It pushed away the blue color to create this effect. Very cool. I used the same technique on the ground.

I die cut the image using an MFT Circle Stax die. I stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the sentiment. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession Love You Miss You stamp set.

I wanted to create a CAS card, which I rarely do. My initial plan was to adhere the colored panel to a white note card that I will barely embellished. Well, I ended up with a layered card because I decided to use a stencil and spray to embellish the note card. Despite taking extra care not to ink the back of the card, I did manage to smudge some ink on it. What's so funny is that it is not even one of the spritz color I used for this card. I must have reactivated a dried ink from the cardboard from the spritzing. I used a Tim Holtz Star Layered Stencil and Prima Color Bloom Spray Mist in Storm Cloud and Soft Teal for this technique.

I sprayed the gray mist on one side of the stencil and laid that over the white cardstock panel. I pounced on this with a rag to let the color seep through the cardstock. Without lifting the stencil, I spritz the teal on the stencil. When I removed the stencil, it created this two tone background that looks very cool. I wish I captured it well enough in the photo. The gray somewhat pooled around the negative spaces to create an outline for the stars created by the teal spray. The Prima Color Bloom Spray Mist also has a bit of shimmer, adding more awesome effect to the panel. I encourage you to give it a try.

After I dry this with a heat gun, I trimmed off a bit from the edges. I adhered this on the card base. i adhered the image slightly to the left of the card. I trimmed off the excess. I decided to add some glitter towards the pompoms of the sleep hats. I applied glue and poured some Elizabeth Crafts Cool Diamond Silk Microfine Glitter over it. After the glue has dried, I rubbed my finger onto the area to activate the sparkle of the glittered powder. I also accented the eyes using a black Sakura Glaze pen.

Masked Stamping & Copic Coloring

My youngest son loves My Little Ponies. This inspired me on how to color the unicorn of the Paper Smooches Spectrum stamp set. I created a mask of the unicorn by stamping the unicorn onto a Post-It note. I allowed the stamped image to dry on the Post-It note. Even if I use a dye ink to stamp on the Post-It note, it smudges if I touch it right away.
I stamped the first unicorn on the left side of an Express It paper. I used a Memento Desert Storm ink because I plan to do no line coloring of the unicorns. I used the second generation ink for the image which just means stamping the image onto a scrap paper first before stamping it on the Express It paper. I lined the mask on top of this unicorn. Repeating the process described, I stamped the unicorn onto the right side of the first unicorn. I repeated this process another time to create three unicorns with the illusion of one is slightly in front of the other.

I don't have the Copic markers that match the colors of the My Little Ponies that I chose (Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack and Rainbow Dash.) I just got by with the closest that I have. Thanks to Google, I also found this website that guided me in coloring the unicorns (http://andypriceart.deviantart.com/journal/Copic-Markers-and-Pony-colors-408215100.)

After I colored the unicorns, I colored the horn with Copic Spica in clear for sparkle. I cut out the unicorns and used a blade to cut in between the unicorns. To ground the unicorns, I cut a textured kraft colored cardstock using a Mama Elephant stitched border die to create a hill. I embossed the sentiment on the right side of the hill using Versafine and black embossing powder.

To create the background, I used Prima Color Blooms to create splatters of colors. I used Cotton Candy, Soft Teal and Tea Stain. I splattered the colors on a Strathmore Bristol paper. After this has dried, I die cut this panel using a Simon Says Stamp Double Stitched Rectangle die. I also used this to create a stitched impression on the bottom part of the stamped hill.

I adhered the hill on the bottom of the color splattered panel, then adhered the unicorns on top of the hill. I matted this panel with a patterned paper, then adhered this to a white note card. I added Glossy Accents to the horns of the unicorns. I also added white dots on the nose of the unicorns using a white Gelly Roll pen.

All Kraft Sparkly Christmas Card

For this card, I challenged myself to create a card using just kraft cardstock. I stamped the raccoon using My Favorite Things Kraft Hybrid ink on a scrap kraft cardstock. I stamped it a couple of times just in case I make a mistake in coloring. My next challenge is how to color the raccoon. Raccoon always seem to be black and white so I went searching the net for a brown colored raccoon...and I did find one.

I colored the raccoon using Copics. For the white accents of the raccoon, I used a white colored pencil. I used black Glaze pen for the eyes. I fuzzy cut the raccoon, including his belly since I am planning to make the image holiday inspired. This is my only Newton's Nook stamp set which I won by commenting on Chari Moss's blog. Looking through my stash of stamps, I found this Technique Tuesday gift stamp which is a part of Say It-Happy stamp set. I stamped this on Kraft colored cardstock using the same Kraft ink I used with the raccoon. I colored this by adding lines to create a striped gift wrapper. I used a Versamark pen on the ribbon to apply gold embossing powder to it. I also applied glue to the center of the ribbon, then poured gold glitter onto it.

I cut a Christmas tree using the Cricut Winter Wonderland cartridge. I cut this on kraft cardstock, too. I used Copics to color the tree. I used the 0 to bleach out spots on the tree, sort of an ornament. I applied white dots to this bleached spots. I colored the star with a gold marker. Using the Versamark pen, I covered the star with the sticky ink, then poured Wow! Ultra Clear Embossing powder to this. I did this process twice.

For the background, I created a slope onto a Post-it note using Avery Elle Custom Panels Elle-ments. This will serve as a mask when I blend inks for the sky. I also punched a circle onto a Post-It note.  After adhering the Post-It masks, I blended Tim Holtz Distress inks to create the night sky. Guided by the circle, I attached the negative circle cut of the Post-It note, then remove the circle. I blended more yellow inks on this circle. I reapplied the circle Post-It note, then sprayed pearlized water to the night sky for shimmer.  I set this aside to dry.

Once the shimmer is dry, I adhered the other half of the slope Post-It note to the shimmered area. I rub the Versmark ink pad onto this area. I poured Ranger Holographic embossing powder to this, then heat set it.

For the sentiment, I used stamps from two stamp sets and did some masking to create the message. I applied washi tape to the stamp, applied Versamark ink, remove the wash tape, stamp the sentiment onto the panel, then poured white embossing powder onto it. I was doing well doing these steps until I got to the last word. The letters overlapping the already powdered sentiment attracted the powder. So, I had to brush off all the powder. Good thing, the Versamark ink stayed wet long enough for me to apply powder to the three-lined sentiment again and all together. Whew! That would have been a disaster since I stamped this direct to the shimmered-blended panel.

I adhered the Christmas tree and the raccoon using foam adhesive. I trimmed 1/8th of an inch from the left and bottom sides of the panel. I adhered this panel onto a kraft cardstock.

Interactive Puzzle Birthday Card

My third son celebrated his 9th birthday 3 days ago. I created a birthday card for him. I had to think what will be most appropriate for him. He loves puzzles. This inspired me to create this interactive puzzle card for him.

I cut the puzzle pieces using Cricut Close To My Heart Artiste cartridge. I cut this at 4". Luckily, the puzzle pieces did not break apart when I removed the die cut from the mat. I applied a sticky Post-it note to the back of the die cut to keep it together since I am going to stamp on this.

I stamped his name and the sentiment to the puzzle pieces. For his name, I used Studio Calico Mia Alpha stamp set. I like the brush stroke image of the fonts. I stamped the letters using Simon Says Stamp Blue Violet dye ink. I used a stamp positioner because I re-stamped the letter using a white pigment ink to create an ombre look. I only inked the bottom half of the letter to create this look. I allowed this to dry.

For the sentiment, this is a 2-lined greeting stamp from Avery Elle Brushed Clear stamps. I used masking to create a 1-lined greeting. I prepared the area for embossing using my powder tool. I stamped the sentiment using blue pigment ink, poured clear embossing powder, then heat embossed it.

I stamped party hats randomly using Memento Desert Sand ink. The stamp is from Technique Tuesday Say It-Happy clear stamp set. I colored the hats with Copics. I accentuated the trims using a glittered pen. I embellished the hats using a white gel pen.

I kept the negative cut of the puzzle and used it as a guide to create a note card. I ran the front panel of the note card to emboss dots to it since the front panel will be plain without the puzzle piece. I adhered the negative die to the embossed part of the note card.

Now, it's time to create a pocket to put the puzzle pieces in, and to attach a message so my son would know that this is a puzzle to be pieced together.

I placed the puzzle pieces in a left-over clear packaging. I cut a 3x3 paper, sized enough to fit it in the clear packaging. I stamped the instructions using Lawn Fawn Milo's ABC, and placed this inside the clear packaging together with the puzzle pieces. I sealed this using the We R Memory Keepers Photo Sleeve Fuse tool.  Just make sure to allow the fuse tool to heat up before using it to seal. I ran this twice, about 1/4" apart before I trimmed the excess off. I adhered this package to the front of the card using wash tape.

This is how the card looks like with the puzzle pieced together.

My son likes the card. Thanks for viewing my blog.
