Stamped Background In Rainbow Colors

Hello! I created this scrapbook layout to take part in Scrapbook & Cards International Scrapbooking Day Stamping Challenge. This is a late post since I had to wait for the announcement of the winners. I did not win but this layout is one of the highlighted work. See the rest of the scrapbooking layouts who are highlighted, and for the challenges' winners, visit Scrapbook & Cards INSD post

I started off by stamping the Technique Tuesday Ali Edwards All My Heart stamp set on watercolor paper.  Since I am creating a full page sheet, I kept the stamps on the plastic that holds all the stamps. I taped the edges of the plastic film to a  Fiskars Easy Stamp Press. I applied Versafine Onyx Black ink to the stamps and started stamping on the watercolor paper. Since the watercolor paper has texture, making sure that the stamp press is down all the time, I used a Chuckie tool to apply more pressure to the stamp press to get a good impression of all the stamps. I repeatedly stamped the stamp set until the whole watercolor paper is stamped on. For the ones with a poor impression, I fixed this with a black gel pen after I am done painting.

I colored each text box with Karin markers, following the colors of the rainbow. For the hearts, I used Gansai Tambi watercolor in white as base, then adding White Gold on top.

My album pocket's size is 9" x 12". I trimmed the watercolor to 8 3/4" x 11 3/4". I matted this with a white cardstock cut at 9" x 12". I cut my photos and added it to a white cardstock for a little bit of contrast from the busy background.

I die cut the hello using Concord & 9th Say Hello die. The die cuts an outline, a shadow and a scripty hello. I die cut the shadow on black cardstock and the scripty hello on white cardstock. I saved the outline die cut for a future project.

To create more contrast, I matted the white panel with red cardstock. I created a subtitle for my layout by die cutting letters from the SugarPea Designs Letterboard die on white cardstock. I die cut a duplicate for each letter so I can adhere one on top of the other for a raised look. The die set does not include an ampersand. I heat embossed the ampersand using white embossing powder. The stamp is from Hero Arts Christmas Crystals stamp set. The die set also did not have any apostrophe. I created one by doing a bit of die cut surgery using one of the letter die cuts.

I wrote my journaling underneath the subtitle before trimming the red cardstock with the use of a craft knife.

I adhered this on the rainbow watercolored panel. I added heart gems from Nuvo. I also added shimmer to the subtitle using Zig Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen.

Happy Slimline Card

Hello! I created this card to join in Mama Elephant's monthly challenge in Discord. The challenge theme is Tell Me A Story. The inspiration behind this card is the current progress the nation has on COVID. With a majority of the nation vaccinated, restrictions are eased out. We can finally get together with family and friends especially if they are vaccinated. I still have one wish though and that this privilege will be enjoyed by the rest of the world. My parents are at the Philippines. It will be really nice to be able to visit them again. But I am patiently waiting as the Philippine citizens get vaccinated.

I am at luck that there are five children in the Mama Elephant In My Heart Stamp set so I can have each kid paired with each letter on the word 'HAPPY'. I stamped each child on watercolor paper and colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush. I fussy cut the images leaving a thin white border around it.

For the letters, I used the ME InLine Letters stamp set. I heat embossed this on watercolor paper, using white embossing powder. I pounced different colored Tim Holtz Distress Oxide on the mat and spritz this with water. I spritz the watercolor paper with water, then smooshed this to the pigment on the mat. I dried this with a heat gun. I repeated this process if I think I need more color for the background. I die cut this into a circle using a circle die.

For the card base, I trimmed a heavy weight cream cardstock at 8 1/2" x 7", scored it at 3" on the short side to create a slimline card. I trimmed a cardstock with floral embossing detail at 8 1/2" x 1" for the ground. I stamped the background using the dotted stamp from ME Boutique Borders. I used Hero Arts Soft Vanilla for ink.

I adhered the green cardstock trim to the edge of the card front. I heat embossed the sentiment from ME Happy Everything stamp set. I used Versafine Onyx Black ink and a clear embossing powder. Next, I adhered the letter circles. I adhered the children using foam tape. I rounded the corners with We R Memory Keepers 1/8 corner punch. I added glitter pen details to the in line letters for extra accent although this can hardly be noticed on the photo.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day! I hope you are all happy together with people you have not been with for a long time.

Die Cut Surgery Part 2 (Craft My Stash #16)

Hello! I created this card from the left over supplies of my last post. Instead of throwing the frame heart, I created this into a dimensional heart frame by adhering each left over heart on top of the other.

I die cut several pieces of patterned papers using a stitched rectangle die. I created a stacked rectangles quilt using these die cut rectangles. I adhered the frame heart to this. I trimmed off the excess.

I die cut the sentiment on a dark colored patterned paper from the paper pad. I adhered this to the quilted pattern. I added shimmer to the sentiment die cut using Zig Wink Of Luna Copper Brush Marker Pen and Zig Wink Of Stella Clear Brush Marker Pen.

For the card panel, I adhered several strips of left over patterned paper to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" typing paper. I trimmed off any excess. I added a cross stitching detail to the seams of the patterned paper.

I adhered the heart to the panel. I added shimmer to the heart frame using Nuvo Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer Pen. I added gold flower sequins and Pretty Pink Posh confetti sequins.

Die Cut Surgery (Craft My Stash #16)

Hello! Welcome to another Craft My Stash post. For this card, I am using the following:

  • Simon Says Stamp Bramble Heart Wafer Die
  • SSS With Sympathy Wafer Die
  • SSS Stitched Rectangles Wafer Die
  • Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders
  • Glitz Paper Pack Sunshine In My Soul (Retired)
Do you see the flower branches inside the frame in my card? Will you believe if I tell you that those came from a heart wafer die as shown below?

Yes! It is the same flower branches. After I die cut the heart on cardstock, I trimmed off the flower branches from the heart die cut. I repeated this process three times. I adhered the flower branches on top of each other to create some dimension. As for the left over hearts, which now looks like a frame, I am keeping these die cuts for a future project.

I created a stitched rectangular frame using two rectangle wafer dies from the set. I die cut this on a gold patterned paper from the paper pack. I arranged the flower branches and adhered it to the back of the frame. I trimmed off the excess.

For the sentiment, I die cut one of the patterned papers using the Sympathy die. I die cut it two more times, and adhered it on top each other. I colored the sentiment die cut with a black metallic marker.

I added a tulle on the back of the frame. I adhered a gold vellum to the back of the frame.

I added flower sequins, gems and confetti to the flowers and buds.

For the card panel, I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" typing paper to use a backer and guide as I create a multi-patterned paper panel. I adhered the patterned papers to this typing paper, slightly angled diagonally. I trimmed off the excess. I added some stitching detail to the seams using the Lawn Fawn Borders die.

I adhered the frame to the center.

Thank you for viewing my blog. Have a blessed day!

Tie Dye Birthday Card Using Karin Markers

Hello! It was my second son's birthday yesterday who turned 16 years old. I got my inspiration for this card from Karin Marker's Colors Of The Month in IG which includes Neon Yellow, Neon Orange and Neon Orange Red. Can you believe that I used the same colored markers on both cards? I actually die. Unbelievable, right?

My first version of the card was created using Grafix Dura-Bright Black Film Pad. I cut this at 4 1/2" x 6". I am linking a video tutorial that was very helpful to me in drawing my own tie dye pattern (https://youtu.be/IASfGvD7mBo). As seen on the image, despite using this months color palette, it has a totally different effect on this type of paper. I dried my created pattern with a heat tool. I stamped the sentiment on the center of the tie dye pattern using a white pigment ink. I embossed this with clear embossing powder. Just to warn you that despite giving this panel a good zapping of the heat tool, there are areas that remained sticky, thus, attracting the embossing powder. Good thing I used a clear embossing powder. The sentiment stamp is from Avery Elle.

I enjoyed creating the first card that I went ahead and created a version of this card using Tim Holtz Yupo paper. This card shows the true hue of the colors I used. I used black pigment ink this time for the sentiment with clear embossing powder.

I die cut the tie dye panels into 4" x 5 1/4". I adhered the black panel to a brown cardstock before adhering this to a top folding A2 notecard. I adhered the white version on a black A2 note card. I added a white cardstock on the inside of the card to serve as a place to write your sentiment.

Which version of the card do you like the most? Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Cricut Made Store Logo

Hello! I've been tasked by my college friend to create a logo for her online jewelry shop. After seeing her original logo lay-out, I took the main elements of her original design and came up with the design above. With the help of Cricut Design Space, I was able to plan the layers and the colors for her approval before cutting it.

The main focus of the logo is the treasure chest. I modified the image. I removed the lock. I used the contour function of CDS to hide the cut lines included in the design which serves as a guide where the lock will be adhered. I also used the slice function of CDS to remove the handles of the treasure chest. This function also allowed me to created more layers for the front and the lid of the chest, making it more dimensional.

I stamped the brown trim of the treasure box with a woodgrain stamp from Lawn Fawn to create some texture.

I added Pretty Pink Posh gems to the inside of the treasure box.

For the letters, I cut two of each letter and adhered the letter on top of the same letter to create a chipboard like embellishment. I also did it this way since most of the time I am unsuccessful cutting letters on Cricut using heavy weight cardstock.

I pounced Versamark ink on the letters, poured black embossing powder to it, then heat set it.

One of the fonts I used created holes as part of the design. Unfortunately, Cricut does not have a Contour feature for fonts. I was hoping to hide these holes so I can cut a third layer using glitter cardstock. Instead, I cut small strips of silver glittered cardstock and adhered this to the back of the letters to show through the holes. I trimmed off any excess.

I used a shimmery cardstock for the cream version. I spritz pearlized water on the lavender version. I matted the logo with gold cardstock.

I had fun creating this. Thank you for visiting my blog today. Please support my friend's business, Angel's Treasure Box. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Card Stitching

Hello! I created this card for my husband who celebrated his birthday last Friday.

I started off by finding a design that will fit the total area of the die cut holes on a cardstock. The design is from the book 100 Cross Stitch Card Designs by Joanne Sanderson. I edited the stitched design, removing the wine bottle and adding the greeting.

One of the difficulties in converting a stitched design on cloth to a stitched design on paper is the paper has bigger holes. A design might be small if stitched on cloth but when stitched on paper, the size becomes bigger. Another difficulty in stitching on paper is that there is no quarter stitch on paper. Either you leave the square blank or just put a cross stitch to that square. This also applies when doing a half running stitch. What I did is do a straight stitch from point A to point B, bypassing the holes in between these two points. This is better explained by looking at the orange star.

The die I used to create the stitching holes is Crafty Meraki Stitch-A-Cross Slimline die. I die cut an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" heavy weight white cardstock. I die cut one side of the panel first. To die cut the rest of the panel, I matched the holes on the cardstock with the raised holes of the die. I taped the die and the paper together to prevent shifting while I run this through the machine. Although despite this, I still had some shifting which created non-circular holes and unequal hole spacing. Running the shims back and forth might have made my shim shift. I went ahead and use this die cut panel. After the stitching has been done, the imperfect holes are less noticeable since the stitched design becomes the center of attention. Also, don't forget to use a metal shim when using this die.

Removing the tiny die cut circles created by the die can be a challenge. I used the Waffle Flower A2 Piercing Panel die to help in this process. I rubbed the raised side of the die to the back side of the die cut panel to remove the die cut circles. Do this over a trash can for some clutter control. For the circles that did not fall off using this technique, I used a Spellbinders Tool n' One to brush off the circles and poke the circles out.

After I got done with the stitching, I adhered a white cardstock to the back side of the panel.

To accommodate the large design, I created an A8 card with the size of 7.875" x 5.25". I used a heavy weight Neenah Desert Storm cardstock for the card base which I cut at 7.9" (I just eyeballed this, cutting it a hairline off the 8" mark). I scored this at 5.25" on the long side.

I adhered the stitched panel to the front of the card, cutting off any excess. I added a woodgrain washi tape around the edges to frame the design.

I also want to show another stitching project I created a while back. My 9 year old son requested me to stitch our last name so he can put it up on our wall. For this project, I am using The Stamp Market Stitched Alphabet Die to die cut the holes for each letter in our surname. Good thing, we have a short last name =). Instead of doing a cross stitch, I did a running stitch, using a different color for each letter. I used a black metallic floss for the outline.
