More Cricut Cut Elves

Hello! After I posted my Cricut Cut Elf, one of my friends asked me to create elves with her daughters as inspiration for how the elves will look. To make it more personal, I added a touch of Disney since my friend told me that that her daughters like Disney. 

I did the same cuts I made from the previous post except for the cut for the snow hat pompom and the cheeks. I edited the colors to make it a Disney Christmas themed outfit. I saved the negative cuts of the eyes and the lips.

I cut the skin using cream cardstock and blended Tim Holtz Distress inks in Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso. For the cheeks, I used a Ranger Detail Blending Tool to add Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Candied Apple. I colored the negative cut of the lips with a red Copic marker, and a black Copic marker for the eyes. I pieced this in and added Black Zig Wink of Stella to the eyelashes.

The cut creates black gloves for the elves which is created with the first layer. I needed white gloves. I used the Cricut Design Space Slice feature to create white gloves for the elves. You can also trace the glove portion of the first layer instead of using the Slice feature.

I added dots to the dress layer using a Memory Box Dot stencil and Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink to the dress layer. I added dots to the green scarf using a Heidi Swapp stencil. To add variation, I added Wow! White Pearl embossing powder to the red elf's scarf then heat embossed it. 

For the cardigan, I added dots of Black Sakura Glaze pen. I added Zig Clear Wink of Stella to the gloves, white tops and the ends of the scarves. 

For the hat, I added Spectrum Noir Solar Red and Emerald Green Shimmer pens. For the hat trim, I heat embossed it with Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder and Wow! White Pearl embossing powder. I also added shimmer to the socks.

For the bow, I added dots using Sakura White Gel pen. I added a green gem to the green elf, and Nuvo drop to the red elf. 

I die cut a circle from white felt for the snow hat's pompom.

I stacked the snow banks then applied a double adhesive tape on the top layer. I fussy cut the excess. I poured Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter. I burnish the glitter to the tape.

One of my friend's daughters wear eyeglasses. I cut the eyeglasses using black cardstock. I adhered an acetate to the back of the eyeglasses. After this has dried, I fussy cut the excess acetate. 

My friend wanted to make thess into Christmas tree ornaments and requested to have her daughters' names and the year added to the design. I chose the ornament in CDS. I was impressed how Cricut was able to cut this small ornament. It even cut the small hole on the top. I added foiling to the top layer of the ornament using We R Memory Keepers Quill Tool. I wrote my friend's daughters' name and the year using gold gel pen. I threaded a silver thread through the hole and looped the thread around the elf's hand, securing it with a double adhesive tape on the back. I added a small dot of glue on the front to keep the thread on the hand in place. I added a silver thread bow to the ornament. 

I adhered a LF Silver Sparkle Trimmings cord to the back with a double adhesive tape. I covered this with another base layer cut which I cut in black.

Weaved Cardstock Strips

Hello! I created this for the Scrapbook And Cards Care Recipe Challenge but I did not finish this card in time. I did not want to abandon the project and I am glad I did not. 

One of the recipes for the challenge is strips of colored cardstock. I went through my cardstock strips stash and pulled out colored cardstock strips to create my weave. I have done weaving on a card before. In case you want to check it out, here is the link, A Pocketful Of Love Weave Card.

I die cut the wreath using Lawn Fawn Mini Wreath die on different shades of green and brown cardstock. Another recipe is to use ink blending. I carefully blended ink to the wreath using Ranger Detail Blending Tool. I cut the wreath into several parts so I can adhere it to a die cut circle frame.

After the wreath has dried, I 'zhuzh' the leaves, which is the 3rd recipe, to give the wreath some dimension. I die cut the bow from Paper Smooches Bows Die on a pearl red cardstock. I adhered this to a red cardstock and fussy cut it using the outline as guide to create a solid layer for the bow. I also 'zhuzh' this bow for some dimension. I adhered this to the wreath and added a red sequin. I added Nuvo Bright Gold Drops to the wreath.

For the last recipe, I embossed a sentiment from Hero Arts Holiday Sayings on a black cardstock using Hero Arts white embossing powder. I die cut this into a sentiment strip using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments die.

I die cut a kraft cardstock with a stitched rectangle die from Mame Elephant Peek-A-Frame Creative Cuts. I adhered the weave, the wreath and the sentiment strip. I added foam to the back of the sentiment strip.

Trifold Card-New Craft Stash #9

Hello! I am featuring the Simon Says Stamp You Have My Heart die. I always have eyes for sentiment dies with shadow dies. Before, I will just fussy cut around a sentiment which offers some challenges every now and then. The shadow dies on the other hand, produces a cleaner cut. And makes it a lot easier. But I did not use the shadow die in this creation of mine.

I know it might be too early for Valentine's but some crafting companies are already showing previews of their Valentine's release. Also, when I purchase this product, my plan is to use if for a future Valentine's project so I think creating a Valentine's card this early should be okay. What do you think?

I cut a Hero Arts pink cardstock at 11" x 4 1/4". I scored this at 2 3/4" and 8 1/4" to create a long trifold card. I die cut two hearts using the same colored cardstock and using the largest sized heart from the HA Nesting Hearts die. I dry embossed one of the hearts using American Crafts Amy Tan Love Spun embossing folder. I adhered the other heart to the back of this embossed heart for extra support since I will use this as a flap. I inked the edges of the heart with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Tattered Rose using the Ranger Blending Tool.

For one of the flaps, I adhered some washi tape to create a diagonal striped background. I trimmed off the excess. 

I embossed the other flap with a dotted embossing folder. I lightly blended THDI Tattered Rose to this embossed flap using a blending brush.

I die cut the sentiment on a red and white cardstock. I adhered the red sentiment die cut on top of the white sentiment die cut for a raised look. I repeated this process on the heart that get cuts with the die. I applied Spectrum Noir Solar Red Sparkle to the letters. I added clear Zig Wink of Stella for more shimmer. 

I adhered the heart more towards the right flap. I adhered the sentiment die cut on top of the heart. I adhered the heart on the center of the letter o. I added Ranger Glossy Accent to this heart and set this aside to dry.

Cricut Cut Elf

 

Hello! I created this for my 8 year old, and we are doing our twisted version of Elf On The Shelf. None of my older kids did this Elf On The Shelf so this is my first time to do this as a parent. My son did not want me to buy an Elf from the store so we did this version of an elf file cut. I made my son choose which elf he wants to cut and he chose these two elves from the Cricut Design Space Miss Kate Cuttables-Merry Christmas.

My son edited the girl elf's hair and socks, changing her hair to pink from brown, and her socks to dark pink from red.

The number of layers and colors of these images can be intimidating. It is designed to use 16 different cardstocks since each shade of color accounts for a different cardstock. To save up a bit, I went through my colored cardstock stash. I pulled out the colors I will be needing regardless if I don't have enough shade of a color. I utilized the snap mat feature so I can maximize the amount of cuts on the scrap cardstock. I did this by transferring an image to another same colored mat. 

The challenge does not end here. Since the cut images have no instructions on the layering order, and since I cut the boy elf and the girl elf at the same time, I relied on the image on the Cricut Design Space to figure out how the layering will be. While doing this process, I realized that I could have cut certain things using a different colored cardstock (which I have a tip on how to fix it which will be mentioned later on). I also figured that there are certain cuts that I will not be using. To prevent cutting images that you might not be using, I suggest that you use the hide feature while you are still in the editing screen. I think this hide feature will also be a good way to know where each cut goes. What I did is lay each layer on top of each other while looking at the image in CDS. Once I am done, I picked up the pile and flipped it upside down so I can start adhering the layers from the bottom layer to the top layer. Using a Press N' Seal to pick up the pile before flipping it upside down is also a good idea on keeping the layers in order.

As I adhere one layer over the other, I added details like inking the edges, doodling on a layer, dry embossing, heat embossing and adding sparkles with a pen. 

Keep the lip negative cut. The color of the lips will be the color of the layer underneath it, in this instance, brown, which is the same color and layer showing through the eyes cut. I wanted the lips to be pink/red so I colored these negative cuts with a marker before piecing it into the opening. 

As I've mentioned previously, there are cuts that I did not like the color. The boy elf's hair was cut together with the other red images. Since I don't want to waste the red hair cut cardstock, I blended a brown ink to it. 

I also suggest cutting several snow banks where the elves are grounded to. Adhere it by stacking one on the back. This will give the legs of the elves more stability.

Red And Green Inspired Christmas Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The challenge theme is Christmas/Red And Green. I am using an image from one of our lovely sponsors for the challenge, Fabrika Fantasy. 

I am usually intimated by full paged coloring images. With this image, I was having a hard time interpreting the details of the background. I have the option to choose another image but I want to color this image very much because it reminds me of my sister's cats. To help me out in coloring this image, I usually look online for a colored version. Unfortunately, there is none so I reached out to the image artist, Dmitri. He was very nice to send me a colored version of this image, as colored by one of his artists. It was very helpful. Thank you, Dmitri!

I printed the image on Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper. I colored this full page image with differents mediums of red and green but I primarily used watercolor pencils. I used Finetec Mica Watercolor Paint for the ornaments. 

I die cut a red cardstock for the frame. The die is from Li'l Inker Designs called Fringed Scalloped Rectangle die. I used a craft knife to trim the edges off and make this into a frame. I cut strips of green glitter paper to adhere to the back of the frame. This will show through the fringe as I bend it upwards. 

I die cut a patterned paper using a stitched rectangle die from Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I heat embossed the sentiment on vellum using Ranger Red embossing powder. The sentiment is from ME Oh, Kitty Tree. 

As I have mentioned, the two cats on the image were colored with my sister's two cats, Tol & Bibi, as inspiration.

Slimline Christmas Card

 

Hello! I created this card to join the latest Lawn Fawnatics challenge on Happy Holiday Critters. I always enjoy joining their challenge because I love Lawn Fawn products and I enjoy creating using their products. Their challenges make me think out of the box, extending the intended use of my Lawn Fawn products.

I started off by stamping the critters on watercolor paper. The images are from LF Party Animal stamp set. I colored the images using Karin markers. I fussy cut the images up to the line, lining the edge with a black marker for a finished edge. Whew! Fussy cutting the antlers is sure very tricky! I created a scarf for each critter, cutting up some paper from LF Knit Picky 6x6 patterned paper. I drew the scarf then traced this with a black marker. I fussy cut the scarf and lined the edges with a black marker. It was very easy to adhere the scarf to the bear. With the fox and the reindeer, I had to cut their heads off to be able to tuck in the scarf underneath its chins. Sounds horrible, right? Rest assured, their heads were adhered back to place. 

I die cut the wreath from LF Mini Wreath on different shades of green cardstock. I cut the wreath so I can create this into a larger wreath. I die cut a thin circle frame into which I adhered the cut up wreath, layering the colors on top of each other. I, as Laura Bassen calls it, zhuzh up the leaves on the wreath to give it dimension. 

I die cut a Carta Bella plaid patterned paper using the Pink Fresh Studio Slim Stitched Scallop Circle Die to create windows. I adhered the wreath on the circles, covering the scallops. I inserted the critter into this wreath, applying liquid adhesive to the bottom area only. I added foam adhesive to the back of the heads of the critters. 

I die cut circles slightly larger than the scalloped circular window. I die cut the circles on a patterned paper from LF Snow Day Remix Petite Paper Pack. I adhered this to the back of the windows and the critters. 

I die cut the bow and the berries on red mirror cardstock. Since my mirror cardstock is single sided, I snipped off the portion that wraps around the bow. I wrapped this small piece to the bow with the shiny side up. I adhered this to the bottom of the wreath and randomly added the berries to the wreath.

I added Zig Clear Wink Of Stella to the wreath. I added Sakura Black Glaze pen to the critter's eyes. 

For the sentiment, which I will say was a brave move of mine, I heat embossed this using white embossing powder. If I am going to do this again, I would have stamped the sentiment first before going through all the gluing. The sentiment is from LF Offset Sayings: Christmas stamp set.

One Stamp, Two Occasions (Craft My Stash #7~Part 2)

Hello! After I created a scrapbook layout using an old Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, I decided to create a card using the same supplies before I put it back to storage. Aside from this card, I was able to create a bonus card appropriate for the coming holidays using the stamp set included in the kit.

I used a plain cream cardstock for the sentiment. The word 'sending' is from the Trinity Stamps Sending Hugs! die set. I die cut several of this and adhered it on top of each other to create a dimensional sentiment die cut. I heat embossed the word kindness from the SSS Kind Flowers stamp set using Wow!  Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder. I fussy cut the letters. I created a sentiment strip, using another sentiment stamp from the SSS stamp set. I also heat embossed this using the same embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment into a strip using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments die. 

For the card panel, I die cut one of the 6x6 patterned paper using a stitched rectangle die from Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I adhered the sentiments to this panel. I added Nuvo Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer pen to the letters in the word kindness. I added sequins randomly to the panel. 

I re-created this card going for a Christmas theme this time, using a Doodlebug Frosty Friends 6x6 patterned paper. I repeated the process in creating this card although I modified some steps for some variation. that I added a strip to anchor the word 'sending'. I used Wow! Metallic Platinum Sparkle Embossing Glitter for the letters. I added Zig Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Brush pen to the letters. For the sub-sentiment, the stamp is from Lawn Fawn Offset Sayings: Christmas stamp set.
