Stitched Card

Hello! I created this to join in Scrapbook & Cards Today Spring Issue Moodboard Challenge. My favorites in the mood board are the pastel colors and the chevron pattern which inspired me to create this card.

I first created my design by counting the holes created by the Paper Smooches Cross Stitch die. I used a graphing paper to map out the colors and the zigzag color pattern. Next, I chose the DMC colors that I will be using. Then I stitched away.

I die cut this stitched panel with Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Die.

I matted this with a black cardstock.

For the sentiment, I die cut the Paper Smooches You Are A Blessing die on black cardstock. I die cut this twice. I adhered the two negative cuts on top of each other. I added some shimmer with a black Wink of Stella. I adhered this to the center of the stitched panel.

I am using a top folding 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" horizontal notecard. I embossed the front using Li'l Inker Designs Quilted Stitched Pattern die. I adhered the panel to this.

Rainbow Background Window Card

Hello! I am late in posting for our new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. Nothing new for those who follow me and read my blog. I lost track of time. I did not realize it is already July. The good thing is I have the lay-out of this card sketched so I was quick in creating it.

Our challenge theme is Rainbows Galore. Our sponsor is Li'l Blue Button Stamps. I printed the image on kraft cardstock. I colored the image with Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.

For the card panel, I am using a Neenah Dessert Storm cardstock cut at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". I scored it at the middle to create a side-folding A2 note card. I created a heart window using a Hero Arts Cut-Outs Floral Heart die. I am not using the intricate heart die cut for this card but I saved it for a future project.

I needed another heart to create a rainbow background for the heart window. I don't have a heart nesting die so I traced the heart on the same dark kraft cardstock using the die I used to create the window. I fussy cut the heart and I did not like how I cut it. Instead of cutting another one again with my scissors, I went to my reliable Cricut to cut the heart out.

I blended inks to this heart using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Candied Apple, Abandoned Coral, Wild Honey, Cracked Pistachio and Broken China. I used a small Picket Fence Life Changing Brush to apply and blend the inks. I cleaned the brush in between colors by brushing the color off a baby wipe, then brushing it on paper to make sure I removed the color before using the brush on another color. I adhered this to the inside of the card by lining the heart to the window on the front of the card, applied liquid glue to its back, and closed the card onto it.

For the front of the card, I embossed it using Li'l Inker Designs Quilted Stitched Pattern die. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around the image. I wanted to back this up with another kraft cardstock to make it sturdy. This would have been easy if I cut the image using the Cricut. Since I did not, I traced the fussy cut image on a kraft cardstock, then fussy cut this using the lines as a guide. It is not a perfect match but it is good enough. I added liquid adhesive to the back of the digital die cut, to the areas that will adhere to the front of the card. I added liquid adhesive to other fussy cut kraft cardstock, then adhered this to the back of the window.

For the sentiment, I embossed this on the dark kraft cardstock using white embossing powder. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Sunday Sentiments stamp set. I die cut this using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments. I die cut two more strips to adhere to the back of the embossed sentiment to create some dimension.

For the inside of the card, I strategically stamped the sentiment so it is covered by the digital image. I stamped this using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I used the Misti Stamping Tool just in case I need to re-stamp, which I did. I end up re-stamping the sentiment since I did not have a good impression the first time.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Hope to see your rainbow creations in the challenge blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

See Through Die Cut Card Panel

This is my second creation for the new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Nature And Its Beauty Challenge. I rarely do a second project but I cannot resist coloring this fairy image from one of our sponsors, Sasayaki Glitter.

I printed the image on Canson watercolor paper. I was going to use watercolor pencils since it is out at my table after using it on my other project for this challenge but I have no light blue watercolor pencil so I switched to Akashiya Sai watercolor brush pens and an orange Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker.

I added details to the watercolored image using various pens from a black ink to various Sakura pens. I brushed the flowers with clear Spectrum Noir Shimmer pen. I die cut the image using a Mama Elephant stitched die from the Peek-A-Frame die set. I die cut three more pieces of white cardstock using this die.

I had to draw in an extension of the leaf stem using my black pen. I did not realize that I was using a gel pen. The watercolor is still wet so the ink kind of bled. Well, lesson learned. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant In My Heart stamp set. I stamped it with a Stargazer ME pigment ink. I had to do partial stamping to create a three-lined sentiment since the stamp sentiment is in one line. I poured a Primary Blue Topaz Wow! embossing powder to this, then heat set it.

My note card is from die cut panels using Li'l Inker Designs Geometric Snow Cover-Up die. I got this idea from a video by Jennifer McGuire on See-Through Die Cut Cards. It is a challenge to create the intricately cut panels into a notecard especially with the one I used on this card where there is a very little border to score and connect the top borders. Also, keep in mind to use a heavy cardstock if you plan to make the die cut panel into a card. Might require several passes through the manual die cut machine, some manual popping out of the cuts, and cleaning of the metal die but the result is truly worth it.

I adhered the watercolored panel to the front using a T-square ruler. Then, lined and adhered another white panel to the back of this. I lined the next stitched card to this one, making sure the wrong side is up, applied adhesive to this, then closed the card to it to adhere this to the inner panel of the card. This is where the sentiment can be written. The last panel is adhered to back where I stamped my blog's name. Do watch Jennifer's video using the link since she has more detailed steps on how to do create this type of card.

I hope I inspired you to join our challenge. If you have not checked out my other card, please do. It is my post before this one.

Have a blessed and brilliant day!

Ultra Violet New Year's Card

I wasn't able to send out Christmas cards to friends who sent Christmas cards to me & my family. So, I sent them a card to greet them a Happy New Year (although, I sent it out a few days after the year has begun.) I am using a Gerda Steiner digital image freebie. I printed the images in Canson watercolor paper. I created a pearlized watercolor by mixing Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolor and Perfect Pearl on a watercolor palette. Once the watercoloring is done, I set this aside to dry. I partially embossed the bottom part of the panel, making sure not to emboss the watercolored image, using We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder Gemstones.

I heat embossed a happy sentiment from Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler stamp set. I used a Recollections embossing powder for this sentiment. I also heat embossed the confetti on the top part of the panel using a confetti stamp from Mama Elephant Confetti stamp set. I used Ranger Platinum embossing powder for this.

Working on the frame, I am using Li'l Inker Designs Fringed Scalloped Rectangle and Simon Says Dual Stitched Rectangle dies to cut a violet cardstock. Ultra violet is Pantone's color of the year, thus, my choice of color. I adhered this to the watercolored panel, centering the colored image to the frame. I adhered this to a top folding 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" white notecard.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed and brilliant day!

Crown and Card Gift Pair

3D

I created this for a co-worker of mine who is celebrating her birthday. I came up with the crown theme after I complemented her hairstyle is lacking a crown to make her a true queen. This inspired and challenged me to create her a crown. And, what is a gift without a matching card, right?

I used the Cricut Design Space to search for a crown image. I filtered the search to images that I own. This crown is from the Life Is A Party Cartridge. This crown cut file comes in layers and cuts the embellishments. It also cuts tick marks as a guide in adhering the small die cuts. Using the contour function, I removed the tick marks because I am not planning to use the small die cut pieces due to time constraint. I welded the detailed and base layer to save time. I cut this on gold glitter paper. The reverse side of the glitter paper is white in color. To cover it up, I mirror cut the crown on gold cardstock and adhered it to the reverse side of the glitter cardstock.

I die cut hexagons using the Avery Elle Custom Panels to create a more detailed crown since I decided not to add the hexagon embellishments included in this cut file. Do you remember the Epiphany Crafts Studio Tool to create bottle cap embellishments? I created the center gem of the crown using this tool.

For the card, I wanted it to match the crown. The Cricut Cartridge I used is all about planning a party. I die cut the detailed crown that is included in the card file version of the crown. I cut this using the glitter paper and cut it four more times using the gold cardstock. I stacked them to create a dimensional embellishment.

For the front card panel, I embossed a red cardstock using the Li'l Inker Designs Quilted Stitched Pattern die. The size of this red panel is 5 1/2"x4 1/4". I sprayed this panel with diluted Perfect Pearl in water. I die cut a red frame using Simon Says Stitched Rectangle die. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Make A Wish stamp set. I heat embossed this on a red cardstock strip uisng Wow! Rich Pale Gold embossing powder.

To put the card together, I am using a 100lb. Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock for the card base. I adhered the red embossed panel to this. I adhered the sentiment strip to the back of the frame, then adhered this to the red embossed cardstock. I then adhered the crown to the center of the card. I die cut a hexagon using the Avery Elle die on a red mirror paper and adhered this to the center of the crown just like the 3D paper crown. I stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment inside the card. This card and crown are ready to be given.

Watercolored Pattern Die Card

I did partial die cutting or partial die embossing on a watercolor card. To do this, I first laid the sentiment stamp onto the back of the pattern die. I drew lines using a pencil and a T-square around the stamp. This will be my guide as to where I will line up one of the cutting plates when I do my die cutting. I would like to leave the center without any impression for stamping of the sentiment later on.

I painted each quilted section using the Zig Kuretake Gansai Tambi. I just painted it loosely, making sure the color is within the quilt block. I dry this using a heat gun.

To give the center a tint of color, using a paint brush, I wet the area. I applied Tim Holtz Antique Linen on a palette. I dabbed a small amount of this and applied it to the wet center of the panel, just to get a wash of the color. I dried this with a heat gun.

I applied my powder tool to this area, stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink, applied Ranger Copper embossing powder, then heat set it. I adhered sequins for added embellishment.

I trimmed this panel and adhered it to a dark brown cardstock with a foam adhesive. This is then adhered to a white note card.
