Polaroid Inspired Die Cutting Maculine Card

My husband loves to fish that's why I chose this image. It reminds me of him. I colored the image using Prismacolor color pencils. I colored him with my husband as inspiration, trying to be as close to what my husband wears when he fishes. The thing is, he usually wears black especially when it got cold and he was still trying to fish. Coloring in black is no joke. You have to try to preserve the image lines and create a bit of shading here and there.

To create the polaroid cut, I combined two metal dies, Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die and Lawn Fawn Stiched Square die. I made sure that the distance of the square to the edges is even on both sides and on the top side. I created this cut on a Basic Grey patterned paper.

I heat embossed a sentiment from Concord & 9th Lace Leaf stamp set. I masked a part of the sentiment to customized it to the sentiment I want. This phrase is a favorite here in my household. Let's say, it is our family thing.

I created a ground for my image so it doesn't look like he is floating in the air. I die cut a brown card stock using a die from Avery Elle Custom Panels Elle-ments. I adhered this to the bottom of the image. This panel is adhered to the back of the Polaroid panel, cutting off the excess.

The largest SSS Stitched Rectangle die is smaller than an A2 card. I adhered a We R Memory Keepers woodgrain washi tape around the edges to create a border. I adhered the Polaroid panel to this using foam adhesive. I adhered a gold die cut heart to the hook using foam adhesive.

I scattered some Nuvo Dots next to the image to fill in that big space behind the image. I could have created a scene behind him but I was aiming for a simple card. I adhered star sequins next to the sentiment as last embellishment.

Miezo Digital Angel Stamp Spinner Card

Incy Wincy Designs is hosting a Colour Challenge based on the photo below.

I am still struggling with printing digital stamps. Thanks to this video, http://www.2cuteink.com, I was able to edit the images. And, thanks to our local art store, Art Mart, I was able to print the image on watercolor paper using my inkjet printer. I did some research too on how to limit the bleeding of the image while watercoloring it. So, I have to thank the web and Google for that. With all these new found knowledge, I am so excited to work with digital images.

For this card, I printed the image twice. I flip the image horizontally and noticed that the image is the same regardless. So, I came up with the idea of creating a spinner card using this image. I watercolored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush and Akashiya Sai Watercolor Brush Pens.  When working with watercolor and inkjet printed images, try to avoid over saturating the area or else, the outline will bleed. Inkjet gets re-activated by water. Try not to watercolor too close to the printed line of the image. Have a dry rag or paper towel handy to blot off excess water to prevent bleeding. Dry area with a heat tool in between coloring. These are some tips I learned from working with this project.

I fuzzy cut the angel leaving a small white border at the edges. The mirrored cuts would not be identical which is the beauty matching dies for stamps offer. But to make it close enough and unnoticeable, I adhered the mirror images back to back using a temporary glue and trim off any areas that is sticking out being careful not to cut the image on the opposite side. 

I embellish the angel some more since this is the main focus of this card. This is the first time I am using a clear Spetrum Noir Shimmer pen and I am amazed by the results. I love the shimmer effect it gave the angel's dress and wings. I embellished the halo with a clear Copic Spika pen. I used a yellow Copic Spika pen to accent the hair. I applied Glossy Accents to the halo and wings. I allowed this to dry overnight.

For the front panel, I am using an old My Mind's Eye patterned paper. I cut a scalloped square border using Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Frame dies. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die to cut the window out of the card base and the front panel patterned paper. Using a strong double adhesive tape, I adhered a sewing thread across the window, from top to bottom. I adhered the patterned paper on top of this. 

To create the background for the angel and the window, I made this into a tri-fold card. I cut another white cardstock at 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". After I scored it at 4 1/4", I trimmed off about 4 1/8" off one side to leave a small tab which I adhered to the outer edge of the window card. I taped the edges of this middle panel. I blended Tim Holtz Distress Inks (Squeezed Lemonade, Tattered Rose and Broken China). I sprayed this with diluted Ranger Perfect Pearl in water.

I adhered the angel to the string to finish the project.
