Color Inspired Greeting Card

Hello and welcome back! It is time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. For this challenge, the theme is Colour Palette Or Use Only Warm Colours. We have two sponsors for this challenge.

For my card, I opted to follow the challenge's colour palette as seen above. I colored the image with the first four colors on the palette. It is not the typical color of an elf but we can always go out of the norm. I colored the image with Prisma color pencils. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around it. I added details to the image with metallic gel pens, glaze pen and shimmer brush.

I could not find a cardstock in my stash that matches the last two colors of the palette. So, I created my own by blending Tim Holtz Distress Inks on two separate Strathmore Bristol Paper cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I used blue hues on one (love that Blueprint Sketch), and blue-green hues on the other. I spritz Prima Color Bloom Teal Spray on the panel. I dried this panel with a heat gun. After which, I die cut this panel with Lawn Fawn Fancy Lattice Backdrop die. I adhered the blue panel to the back.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed this on vellum using Tim Holtz Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide and Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder. I adhered this on a white cardstock before fussy cutting it, leaving a small border around it. I stamped the sub-sentiment on a white cardstock using the same Tim Holtz ink. I die cut this into a strip using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments die.

I adhered the vellum sentiment and sentiment strip to the lattice panel. I created a ground for the image with a left-over sand embossed cardstock and adhered this to the panel. I adhered the digital image with foam adhesive. Using the same lattice die, I die cut scraps of holographic cardstock. I pieced in the diamond shaped die cuts to the teal lattice backdrop for some sparkle.

Father's Day Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The challenge theme is For Men / Kraft Card Or Paper. We have two sponsors for this challenge. I am using a stamp from one of these sponsors.

I printed the image on kraft cardstock. I colored the image using Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencil.

For the background, I stamped the Honey Bee Buffalo Plaid 6x6 stamp set using a navy blue ink onto a green cardstock. I stamped a solid line using Simon Says Stamp Basic Stripes Clear stamp set. I used Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Oxide to stamp the line. I set this aside to dry.

I die cut the image using a rectangle die from Hero Arts Nested Rectangles die. I also die cut the plaid panel using the next to the largest rectangle die from the set.

For the sentiment, since this is a customized one, I used the Martha Stewart Rubber stamp set. I heat embossed the sentiment on brown cardstock using white embossing powder. I die cut the sentiment into strips using Avery Elle-ments Simple Sentiments die set.

I adhered the printed panel to the plaid cardstock panel. I adhered the strips after.

I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the eyeglasses. I set this aside to dry.

Weaved Background Funny Halloween Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge is on Funny and/or Let's Celebrate. We have two sponsors for this challenge. I am using Dr. Digi's for this card.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image using Karin decobrush. I used a palette where I picked up the pigment using a water brush to color the image. I tried the direct to paper technique but I was not able to control the pigment. I don't think I will be able to do any blending using this technique. Not that I did not have a hard time using the water brush in blending. I have two kinds of water brush, one that spews out water too freely and one with too much control on the water. Between the two, I am able to blend using the too wet water brush. I just had to dab the brush bristles on a rag before picking up the pigment if I want less water and more color. After I finished coloring the image, I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it.

I recently bought The Stamp Market The Weaving Cards die. I die cut a heavy weight gray cardstock using the largest die on the set. I wrapped a Halloween twine through the slots. I weaved my left over Halloween paper strips through the twine...up, down, up down...until I filled up the whole panel with paper. What a way to use those scraps! I cut off the excess paper on the sides.

I created a frame on a gray cardstock. I stamped the corners of this frame with a spiderweb stamp from My Mind's Eye Lost And Found Collection using Hero Arts Neon Green dye ink. I adhered this to the weaved panel with foam adhesive.

I die cut a thin frame on a black cardstock using a die from Simon Says Stamp This Is The Life Frames Wafer die set. I adhered this thin, black frame to the inside of the gray frame.

For the sentiments, I fussy cut a My Mind's Eye Halloween paper and adhered that to the bottom of the frame with foam adhesive.

To make the card funny, I added a speech bubble vellum with an embossed sentiment. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Spookalicious stamp set, and the speech bubble die is from Lawn Fawn Into The Woods coordinating die. I outlined the speech bubble with an orange Wink of Stella brush marker.

Christmas Scene Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge is on Pets/Man's Best Friend/Fur Babies. Our sponsor is Dr. Digi's House Of Stamps.

I looked online for images of a sleeping dog on a couch and this is how I got inspired to create this card scene. I sketched my idea, taking notes on what supplies I will be needing. I was aiming to use one patterned paper collection but I had to look into another paper collection, My Mind's Eye, for the wall and the floor.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I created a sweater for the dog (although it looks like a blanket to me) by tracing the outline on the patterned paper. I used a tracing light pad to do this. It was difficult to do this on a double sided patterned paper but I just did my best. I traced the lines with a marker. I fussy cut this and ran a brush marker on the sides. I created a matching cap for the dog. I stamped hat on the same patterned paper and on a white cardstock. I fussy cut this and layered the white trim to the patterned paper. The cap was too wide for the dog. Using the original image as a guide, I modified the cap to make it custom fit to the dog's head. I cut this on the line and ran a black marker on the sides. I added Marvy Uchida Snow Marker on the trim.

I  colored the digital image with Copic markers. I added details to the sofa by adding dots. I also added stripes to the slippers.

Working on the scene, I fussy cut the Christmas tree from a Simple Stories cut apart patterned paper. I  cut a My Mind's Eye woodgrain patterned paper to 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" for the front panel.

I die cut the window frame using Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts on a white cardstock. I die cut this window on the woodgrain patterned paper, too. This die cuts the window with the intent to have the window open. Since I am not going to use this feature, I taped the window on the back. I inked the white window frame with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I adhered this to the woodgrain patterned paper, lining it up with the cut window frame.

I trimmed a piece of MME dotted bluish-green patterned paper. I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to give it an aged look.

I adhered the Christmas tree. I added gift stickers to the base of the Christmas tree. I added the sentiment sticker which I adhered first to a white cardstock and made it into a banner. I adhered a gold star sticker on top of the Christmas tree.

I created a snowy sky backgound fro the window. I splattered Copic Opaque White ink on a blue cardstock. I dried this with a heat gun. I adhered this to the back of the window panel, making sure it shows through the window.

I adhered the digital image with foam square. I colored the Christmas tree dots with Tonic Nuvo Aqua Shimmer pen. I added Nuvo Crystal drops and set this aside to dry.

Polychromos Colored Digital Image

Hello! I am late in posting at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge blog. The theme again is Anything Goes

Our sponsor is Dr. Digi's. The image I am using is called Recuperating Rita. I printed the image on Neenah Desert Storm card stock. I colored the images using Faber Castell Polychromos colored pencils. I created a plaid pattern on the blanket and pillowcase using a brown colored pencil and a red Sakura Gel pen. I also added dots to the shirt of Rita with a pastel blue Pentel gel pen. I darkened the eyes of Rita with a black Sakura Glaze pen.

I blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Tattered Rose for the wall, and Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Vintage Photo for the floor. I used several circle stamps to stamp on the wall using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Tattered Rose. The effect is so faint that it is hardly noticeable in the photo. For the flooring, I stamped a wood grain background stamp using Tim Holtz Distress Ink Vintage Photo.

I did easy masking to apply the colors and the flooring accent. I used a Post it note to cover the part I don't want inked. I used the Picket Fence Lifesaving Brush to apply the color. I used a medium brush first for the larger areas, transitioning to a small brush to apply color near the printed image. I used this same masking technique to stamp the woodgrain pattern. Since it was not a customized mask, I missed areas close to the image. I drew the lines using a Tim Holtz Distress Marker Vintage Photo. But my marker is dried up. I didn't want to take a risk of switching to a different brown marker. Too much at stake having colored the image this far. So I picked the color pigment from the ink pad using the small tip end of the marker, then drew the lines.

I stamped the sentiment using the THDI Vintage Photo. Good thing I used the Misti to stamp this sentiment since I needed to re-stamp the sentiment two more times for a crisp impression.

I cut the image at 4" x 3 1/4". I matted the image with a brown colored card stock. I adhered this to a plaid Simple Stories patterned paper but before I did that, using the yellow lines on the patterned paper as a guide, I drew gold lines on it for an extra pop of color. I used a gold Pentel gel pen for this and a ruler.

Using Die Cuts to Create a Background

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs on Musical Instruments and Singers. This challenge is close to me because my two sons are musically talented. My 18 year old is an all around wind instrumentalist (from clarinet, alto saxophone, bass saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet and trombone). And, my 13 year old is a percussionist.

I created this card with my 18 year old son in mind. I know the image is a female but it can also be a male, right? Anyway, my son is finishing up his Army Basic Training at Fort Jackson. He will graduate on the August 29. I cannot wait to see him and hug him.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. The dog was colored with our dog in heaven, Speeder, as my inspiration. I remember when Rudy will hit the high notes with his clarinet, Speeder will howl at the same time.

I fussy cut the image, leaving a white border around the images. I colored the saxophone with a Copper Wink of Luna, blending out the color with the Clear Wink of Stella to mute the copper color. I made a copper mess while coloring. Got me upset since I am mostly done with the coloring. I used a   battery powered eraser which I bought at Hobby Lobby. Took off some of the colored blob. Some more detailing muted the mess. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. This also helped with hiding the blob of copper. I used a craft knife to cut the spaces out.

I embossed an MFT Music Background stamp on a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Neenah Dessert Storm cardstock. I embossed this with Wow! Gold Pearl embossing powder.

For the frame, I die cut a window on a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" black cardstock using a die from Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I die cut two of these panels and adhered one on top of each other.

I die cut the Paper Smooches Music Notes on a gold mirror cardstock. I adhered this to the black frame. I trimmed off the excess die cuts that are sticking out. I adhered some of these scraps to the open spaces on the frame.

I don't have a music related sentiment stamp. I thought about creating one using my alphabet stamp but it will take too much space. I bravely typed the sentiment on the kraft cardstock. I am glad it worked out.

I adhered the black frame to the kraft cardstock. I adhered the colored image using foam adhesives. I adhered this to a top folding white A2 note card.

I hope you join us in our latest challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. We cannot wait to see your creations.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Spotlight Coloring

Hello. I am late in posting for Incy Wincy Designs latest challenge on Animals. Our challenge's image sponsor is Doctor Digi.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I ligthly drew a circle on the three cats so I will have an idea where I will stop coloring. I colored the cats with three of my sister's cats as inspiration. Peppy is the sleeping one on the top. She has been sleeping more lately because she maybe pregnant. The playful cat is the youngest of my sister's cats, Ken. He has light yellow stripes but I end up coloring him darker than his shade. The one on the bottom is Ryan, who I rarely see.

I erased the pencil marks after I colored the circle areas. I then colored the rest with Tim Holtz Distress Weathered Wood marker, applying the color on a palette and picking it up with a water brush. I tried not to over saturate the cardstock with water so as not to warp it. I blended in Tim Holtz Distress Pumice Stone ink to even out the coloring. If I am going to re-do this project, I will print the image on watercolor paper.

I foiled a 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" Deco Foil toner paper with a silver Minc Machine foil. I die cut this panel using Simon Says Stamp Frames Wafer die. I trimmed a vellum to fit on the back of this frame. Before adhering it, I embossed the vellum using Next Level We R Memory Keepers embossing folder.

I die cut the colored panel using one of the frames in the SSS Frames Wafer die set. I rounded the corners using We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. I stamped a sentiment from Newton's Nook Designs Newton Love Cakes. I stamped this with Versafine ink, heat embossing it with clear embossing powder. I adhered a fun foam to the back. I adhered this to the vellum, then adhered this to a top folding My Favorite Things Grape cardstock.

I added shimmer to the circle areas with Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen.

Get Well Soon Flip Card

Creating this card is such a challenge. My first challenge is printing the image. The Cricut Explore can print it but cannot draw it. Too intricate, I guess. Since I am going to print it, I went ahead and just print it without using the Cricut. My second challenge, I don't have a Print Shop. I had to rely on whatever installed printer program my computer has. After several trials, I was able to print the image to the size I want to. I colored the image with Copic markers which is my third challenge. I have to be very careful not to color over the lines. I did not do much blending since this is a small image. I applied clear Wink of Stella to some areas. I applied Ranger Glossy Accent to the IV bag.

For the card base, which is the fourth challenge, I cut a white cardstock at 6 3/4" x 5 1/2". I made pencil marks at 1 1/4" on the top and bottom. For the side, I made pencil marks at 1 2/16". I also made pencil marks at 3" and 4" from the left side of the cardstock. This is where I create the folds to make the card flip and it shouldn't be cut.

Using the Simon Says Stitched Rectangle die and using the pencil marks as a guide, I partially cut the center area. Partial die cutting is when you put your top plate on the area you want to die cut. I also did this technique on the other end of the rectangle.

To embellish the flip base card, I cut some patterned paper. For the border, I trimmed the inner and outer edges with a kraft knife to create a small border in between the flip area and the border, and also show white edges at the sides of the card.

I cut a tan colored cardstock for the back flip area where I stamped the sentiment. I first stamped the Paper Smooches Hip To Be Square using Simon Says Stamp Kraft dye ink. I stamped the sentiment using Hero Arts Journal Letters. I colored the letters with white Prisma color pencil. I inked the edges of the patterned papers, the image panel and the sentiment panel with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink.

I started adhering the pieces making sure the center area pieces are lined up so as not to interfere with the flip mechanism. If it does, just cut a little bit off the edges to make the center area move.

Thank you for viewing my blog. Have a blessed and brilliant day!
