Sketch Inspired Shaker Graduation Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created this card for the latest Newton's Nook Challenge. I colored the cat with Cali, one of my sister's cats, as the inspiration. I don't have a graduate this year but in the next two years, I will. Might as well start early, right?

I stamped the image on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The image is from Newton Nook's Netwon's Graduation stamp set. I colored the image with Copic markers, adding black Wink of Stella to the graduation hat. I also added some white gel pen accents. For the rolled diploma, I added some Ranger Glossy Accents to the band. I die cut this into a circle using a die from the My Favorite Things Circle Stax dies. To mute the bright white, I blended some Tim Holtz Antique Linen. I die cut a gold cardstock using a die from the Paper Smooches Pinked Circles die set to matte the stamped circle die cut.

For the panel, I created a shaker film strip using a film strip punch. I punched several black cardstocks. The punch I am using creates the punch on an edge of the paper. Using a paper trimmer, I trimmed it off to create it into a strip. I adhered small pieces of acetate to one of the punched film strips. I built some dimension by adhering the film strip over the other. Lining up the holes is kind of tricky. I poured some gold confetti on the wells, and sealed it shut with a patterned paper from the Doodlebug The Graduates 6x6 patterned paper. There were three shaker wells created on the film strip but two of it got covered by the pinked circle die cut.

To complete the sketch, I adhered various patterned papers to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" scrap piece of cardstock. I adhered the shaker film strip, then adhered the pinked circle adding foam so that it won't sag since the film strip has some dimension.

For the sentiment, I die cut a black cardstock using a die from the Lawn Fawn Fancy Folded Banner die set. I heat embossed the sentiment, which is from the same stamp set, using white embossing powder. I adhered this to the left bottom edge of the panel.

For the string, I created a tassel using a DMC Diamant Metallic Thread in Metallic Gold & Black. I wrapped the same thread several times on the top edge of the panel. I secured this with tape on the back. I tied the tassel to the left. I squired a dot of glue to secure the knot of the tassel and keep it steady on that upper left part of the panel.

I added several metallic black pearls from Studio Katia for additional accents.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
