Felt Die Cut

Hello! I created this card to join Paper Smooches latest challenge with the theme on Happy Things. During these uncertain times, I can only think of goodness at the end of the struggles that we go through. I thought of the rainbow as my happy thing. After all, rainbows appear after the rain. So, I look forward to seeing our rainbow, when all of the struggles with the COVID is finally over.

My last card created for the PS challenge also has a rainbow in it. I stitched the rainbow on that card. Here is the link in case you are interested to see it...Stitched Pastel Rainbow Card.

For this card, I am using the PS Rainbow die. I die cut the rainbow on different colored felt. This rainbow die is one single die that cuts the layers of the rainbows. I ended up with 6 layers per color. To try and lessen the waste, I adhered the colors on top of each other creating more dimension on the inner color which is purple. I supported this with a rainbow cut out from card stock which I traced from the negative cut created by the rainbow. This is one messy job for me since I have to use a glue gun to adhere the felt to another felt, and to adhere the felt to the card stock panel.

I die cut the clouds on white felt using the PS Spectrum coordinating die. I die cut four pieces of the cloud so I can stitch and put some stuffing in the center. I tried punching holes on the cloud but since the cloud is small, I didn't like the look of a cloud with big holes. I just relied on the needle to do the holes while I am stitching. It was a bit of a struggle stitching through two layers of felt. Good thing it was just two small clouds that I have to sew.

I left the top part of the cloud open and stitched on the front felt piece only. After I inserted the stuffing, I applied glue gun to the the ends of the rainbow, one a time and carefully inserted the end inside the cloud. I adhered these at the center of a stitched square card stock. The die I used for this is the Lawn Fawn Stitched Square Stackables. I adhered this to a top folding 5"x 5" white note card.

For the sentiment, I stamped this on a banner die cut using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I heat embossed this with clear embossing powder. I adhered this to the bottom of the rainbow. The sentiment is from PS Sentiment Sampler stamp set and the banner die is from LF Fancy Folded Banners. I added Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Confetti Mix to add some sparkle to the plain, white background.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Always stay safe. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
