Snowflake Rosette Ornament

Hello! This project is a remnant of idea from my Product Feature Week featuring the Big Snowflake Cut & Foil Die set. Initially, I created this as a gift topper. I am linking the post here in case you are interested to see it. I mentioned on that post that another great idea is to make a rosette ornament. 

I repeated the process of how I created the Snowflake Gift Topper. I adhered a looped twine at the middle of the rosettes. I secured this with a glue gun. I squirted more glue using the glue gun to the inside center, and placed the other rosette to it, creating a back to back rosette ornament. You can see the sideview photo of the rosette ornament below.

I am using the Trinity Stamps Mistletoads 3x4 Stamp Set. I stamped the images on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers. This stamp set has a coordinating die which I don't have so I fussy cut the images, leaving a small white border around it.

To create my mini scene, I am using the TS Frame and Fold Slimline Die Set. I created a polaroid frame using two of the rectangular frames included in the set. I die cut this five times on white cardstock. I also die cut the heart from this die set on red mirror cardstock.

On one of the polaroid frames, I stamped the word hugs using a red dye ink. The sentiment is from the TS A Latte Love Stamp set. I colored the inside of the letters with a red shimmer pen. I also stamped the sentiment 'sending' on white cardstock. I fussy cut around the word sending leaving a white border around it. 

I adhered a thin transparent thread on the back of the mirror heart die cut. I adhered this to one of the polaroid frames. I adhered the frogs to the back of the stamped polaroid frame. I adhered the fussy cut sending to the bottom of the frogs. I stacked the polaroid frames on top of each other, adhering three frames to the back to allow the heart to float.

For the card panel, I am using a plaid patterned paper.  I used the stitched heart from the same slimline die set to add stitched impressions on the patterned paper. I particularly added it only to the area that will show through the polaroid window frame.

Challenge 253 - Designer's Choice ~ Plaid #19

Turnabout Stenciled Background

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I created this card so I can take part on A Blog Named Hero November Challenge at Instagram. I also got my inspiration from my childhood house backyard tree which we had to let go to make way for the construction of new houses that will replace our ancestral house. A lot of good memories with the house and the tree. Another inspiration is my sister's cat, Bibi, who is an all-black cat. 

I am using products from the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero April Kit. I started with creating the background. I temporarily adhered a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white cardstock to the center of a scrap plastic folder measuring 6" x 6". I positioned the stencil on top of this then temporarily secured it with tape. I used an ink blender to ink the cardstock through the open spaces of the stencil. I used Hero Arts Soft Lavender for the first layer of ink. I rotated the stencil clockwise, then applied HA Grape Juice. Before rotating the stencil, I applied Versamark ink to the the open areas of the stencil. After which, I lifted the stencil off the panel then pounced some Ranger Perfect Pearl Grape on the inked areas. I rotated the stencil again and applied another layer of a pinkish-lavender dye ink. For the last rotation layer, I applied a purple glittered gel. I set this aside to dry while I clean off the stencil and while I work on the focal element of my card.

The stamp images included in the kit are all solid images. It comes with a matching die in which lining up to the stamped image can be very tricky. Instead of stamping before die cutting which I usually do, I did the die cutting first before the stamping. I used the negative piece of the cut as a guide where to stamp the image by fitting the stamp on the negative cut. After which, I picked the stamp with the Misti Stamping Tool. I piece in the positive cut, then stamped the image. The Misti is really helpful on these kinds of images since re-stamping is almost always necessary.

I partially stamped the flowers so I can add varied colors to the tree and the flowers. I stamped the leaf first with a green dye ink, wiping off any ink that I might have applied to the flower. After the leaf has been stamped, I repeat the process but this time just applying ink to the flowers. I used the same process for the tree.

I created a wide sentiment strip and heat embossed the sentiment on this using HA White Embossing powder. I adhered this to the Stenciled Panel. I arranged the elements of my mini scene then adhered this. I added some accents to the cat's eyes with Sakura Black Enamel pen, and to the flowers with varied enamel accents and glitter glue.

Color Inspired Greeting Card (New To My Stash #20)

Hello! Welcome back to my blog, and to another post for my New To My Stash Blog Series. It has been months since my last post on this series. I am glad to continue on.

I am using the Newton's Nook Designs Flower Garden stamp set. I got my card inspiration from the latest Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Color Challenge. 

I stamped the image on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I heat set this to speed up the drying time. I colored the image using Karin markers. I applied the pigment on a palette and picked it up with a wet brush. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it. I colored the image following the color inspiration of the challenge.

For the background, I blended Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn Distress ink on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Neenah Solar White cardstock. I heat set this to dry. I stamped the flower from the stamp set on this panel using Versamark ink. I heat embossed this using Wow! Jealous Guy embossing powder. 

Using an oval die as a guide, I curved the sentiment stamp so I can create a frame for the image. The sentiment is from NND Birthday Roundabout stamp set. I heat embossed this using Ranger Copper embossing powder. 

I bleached the petals of the flowers on the background by applying water to the petals then picking it up with dry paper towel. I applied a light wash of red to these petals. For the flower centers, I applied a dot of a light green Sakura Souffle pen. 

I die cut oval shapes on a brown metallic vellum and a red cardstock. I embossed this with dots using the Simon Says Stamp Tiny Dots stencil. Yes, you can emboss with a stencil as long as you use an embossing mat. Depending on your machine, just build enough shims to achieve the right pressure to create the embossed impression. 

I adhered these inside the oval frame, centering it. I adhered the image using foam tape. 

I trimmed a sliver off the edges. I matted this colored panel on a light green cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

Traditional Colored Interactive Christmas Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The theme for this challenge is 

Traditional Christmas Colours +/Or Colour on Kraft Card. For me, the traditional Christmas colors are red and green, thus, the color theme of my card.

We have two sponsors for this challenge. I am using an image from one of our sponsors. I printed the image on white cardstock. I colored the image with Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils. I fussy cut the image leaving a small white border around it. I added puffy details to the sleeves and socks cuffs with an Uchida Snow Marker. I added a dot of white gel pen for the eyes. I added shimmer to the horns with Spectrum Noir Clear shimmer pen.

For the panel, I am using a Bo Bunny patterned paper. 

The digital image came with stars coming from the fairy's hands. To mimic these stars, I added stars using a translucent embossing paste over a stencil. I poured gold embossing powder over the embossing paste while it was still wet. I set this aside to dry before applying heat on it. I added a few more stars until I had five stars on each side.

For the interactive part, I added a wobble spring on the back of the fairy before adhering it to the patterned paper panel. 

I matted this patterned paper panel with a red cardstock measuring 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

Floating Sentiment Trifold Card

 

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. For this card, I created a card with a floating sentiment inside the window of the card. 

I started off by die cutting the largest sized die from the Lawn Fawn Stitched Speech Bubble Frames on Doodlebug patterned paper. 

I trimmed a brown cardstock at 5 1/2" x 4 1/2". I am using both panels to create the trifold mechanism. 

I traced the window created by the speech bubble on one of the brown note cards. I die cut another window on this note card using a Hero Arts Nesting Oval die. 

I stamped the fox image on Neenah Solar white cardstock. I colored this with Copic markers. The stamp is from LF Mom + Me stamp set. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around the image.

For the scene, I die cut a green cardstock using LF Grassy Hillside Borders dies. I am in-laying the grassy hills. To create some depth, I blended a Tim Holtz Pine Needles Distress Oxide. 

For the sentiment, I created an orange gradient panel by adhering scraps of orange cardstock on a typing paper. I die cut the sentiment from this panel using the LF Scripty Thanks die and the LF Cole's ABC die. I did a bit of die cut surgery on the word thanks so I can modify the sentiment. I die cut these two more times for the the layers.

I applied WOW! Mixed Media Embossing Brush to the sentiment die cuts. I poured WOW! Ultra High Clear Embossing powder to this then heat set it. I adhered one layer to the back of the sentiment/letters using a liquid glue. I trimmed two strips of acetate. I adhered this to the back of the sentiment/letters. I adhered the last sentiment/letter die cuts to the back to cover the glue.

I added a strong double sided tape on the sides of the speech bubble window on the brown note card. I adhered the acetate with the sentiments to this. I placed another layer of double sided tape on top of it to secure it more. I lined the patterned paper speech bubble frame, then adhered the other piece of the die cut to cover the front of the card. 

I adhered the grassy hills die cut. I adhered the fox using foam adhesive.

For the inside, I created a background for the window using a LF Woodgrain Backdrops stamp. I stamped this using a dark brown pigment ink. I adhered this to the front of the other brown cardstock. I trimmed off a sliver on the front cover. I applied adhesive to the inner back side and adhered it to the back of the window card creating the trifold mechanism. 

I added a white panel on the center fold to write the message on.

I like it that the card has a different look when closed.

Hello! This is my last blog post on my Product Feature Week blog series featuring the Trinity Stamps Big Snowflake Cut & Foil Die Set. If you have time, do check out my previous blog posts on this series to see the versatility of this die set. 

Today's project is the most involving of all the projects I made for this week. After seeing the result, the work put on it is truly worth it. I want to give thanks to Maggie Rose Design Co for her tutorial on DIY Paper Snowflake Garland. It was very helpful. 

The die set comes with 4 pieces of dies, a foiling die, a detailed snowflake die, and two shadow dies. I die cut the detailed snowflake and the third layer on holographic cardstock. I die cut the second layer on platinum vellum paper. 

I cut small pieces of a thick foam tape. I adhered this to the back of the first layer. I carefully adhered the vellum layer to this, making sure the snowflake is lined up. 

I added a mini glue dot to the center back of the vellum layer. I adhered a bulb of the fairy light to this mini glue dot. I sealed this with a craft glue dot, then adhered the solid holographic snowflake layer to this. I repeated this on every other bulb of the fairy light.
