Cross Stitched Focal Point

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I stitched this pattern a while back and finally am able to make it into a card for a co-worker who has been out sick. She likes to sew. When I stitched this back then, she was the person I have in mind to give it to. I was just waiting for the perfect opportunity. Here we are.

The pattern is called Sew Lovely from The World of Cross Stitching Magazine, Issue 370, April 2026. I stitched this on an 80 lb white cardstock. I used the Altenew Cross Stitch Canvas Die to add stitching holes to the cardstock. I usually follow the color recommendations of the pattern but if I don't have the floss, I look for a color substitute using an online tool from thread-bare.com.

I put together pieces of Authentique patterned paper to create a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" panel. I die cut a stitched scallop window on this panel using a reitred die from Altenew.

I blended lightly a purple ink on the edges of the panel and on the window. The recipient's favorite color is purple which explains the ink color selection. The pattern though used pink embroidery floss.

I used the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy Zig Zag Stitch Piercer Sewing Tool to add stitching holes on the seams of the paper.  I added stitching to these holes using a white embroidery floss.

I stamped the sentiment on a pink paper included in the Authentique paper pad. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder. I die cut this into a strip. I also die cut extra pieces of cardstock which I adhered to the back of the sentiment strip for some dimension.

I adhered the stitched panel to a note card. I adhered the window panel on top of this.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

A Collection of Cross Stitching on Paper, Volume 2

Pattern: Stars & Stripes
CrossStitcher Magazine, July 2026 edition
I did spotlight and repetetive stitching on the sampler. I chose this quilt like pattern from the sampler and repeatedly stitched it to fill a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" carstock panel. I made a shadow box for this to put it up for display, Stitched Panel in Shadow Box Stand-up Frame.

Pattern: Christmas Classics, Poinsettia & Baubles
Ultimate Cross Stitch Cards
I modified the color of floss for the backstitch of the poinsettia. I had hard time seeing the outlines using a red floss. I have changed the color 5 times. I even used the darkest red floss in my stash but it was still a no go. I used black embroidery floss instead. Stitching the outlines takes a longer time but it is definitely worth it.

Pattern: Blooming Beauty
CrossStitcher Magazine, Issue 424, July 2025
I did spotlight stitching on this large floral cross stitching pattern. I stitched on light blue cardstock. I posted this during World Cross Stitch Day.

Pattern: Pumpkin Patch by Susan Bates
The World of Cross Stitching Magazine, Issue 376, October 2026

Takeaways doing this project:
  • This is a large pattern in which I did spotlight stitching. I made the cat the focal point of my stitching without giving consideration to the girl on the pattern.
  • I figured a way to knot the single skein for the straight stitch. After threading the floss through the needle, have the two ends meet and knot it together. Cut off one of the flosses from the knot. Cut any excess from the knot. Someone must have known this before I did but it is a timesaver in adding a knot to the floss when doing the straight stitch.
  • If in doubt about the backstitching, take reference on the stitched photo sampler of the pattern. You might see discrepancies with your stitching and that's ok. Unless it totally obscures the image, nobody would know that you did not follow the pattern.
  • I was using a tiny sewing needle for backstitching since I am stitching on paper. The small pointed edge of the needle keeps the paper from ripping especially with those backstitches that had to be made on the center of a square.
  • In case you do rip your paper, apply a piece of tape on the back to keep the paper and any stitching together.

Pattern: Pumpkin Patch Plaid by DH Morris
Just CrossStitch Magazine, Volume 44, Number 4, Autumn 2026
I stitched only one pumpkin out of the three pumpkins in the pattern. I used an 80lb colored cardstock. I have used an 80lb cardstock to stitch on but this brand of cardstock, despite having the same weight, is softer and very prone to ripping. I changed to a smaller needle to have a bit of control over this. This is a very easy pattern since it only used two colos of embroidery floss and no straight stitch needed.

Supplies used unless specified:
80lb cardstock
Altenew Cross Stitch Canvas Die
DMC embroidery floss

Happy World Cross Stitch Day!

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today is World Cross Stitch Day. I am so excited to share my latest finished cross stitching on paper. Such great timing! This took me almost a month to complete and it is not even the whole pattern! I did spotlight cross stitching. The name of the pattern is Blooming Beauty from the CrossStitcher Magazine, Issue 424, July 2025 edition.

I used the Altenew Cross Stitch Canvas die to add the cross stitching holes on the paper. The paper I used is Concord & 9th Powder Blue 80 lb cardstock. I used DMC embroidery floss. I don't have all the suggested colors so I used a tool on thread-bare.com for color substitutions.

I really enjoy cross stitching. It relaxes me and gives me time to think things over.

Again, Happy World Cross Stitch Day! This is another day that I will look forward to celebrating every year.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Stitched Panel in Shadow Box Stand-up Frame

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's project is a spur of the moment project. I thought I am done after stitching the panel since I have no plans for it. But after seeing American Crafts & We R Makers Stars, Stripes & Scissors Celebration in IG, I said to myself, "I can probably do something with this stitched panel." I just needed to use AC and/or We R Makers supplies although I always use the We R Comfort Craft Magnifying Glasses when I cross stitch. I cannot go by without it.

I did my cross stitching on a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" 80-lb cardstock. The stitching holes were created with the use of the Altenew Cross Stitch Canvas die. The pattern is from CrossStitcher Magazine, July 2026 edition. It is a part of the Stars & Stripes stitch sampler. I did a spotlight stitching of one of the samplers and repetetively stitched this pattern on the panel for a quilt-like look. I used 2  strands of DMC floss in stitching.

I created a frame for the cross stitched panel using the We R Makers Shadow Box Punch Board. The punch board was designed for a square shadow box but can be used to create a rectangular shadow box. Simply add 4" to each side to come up with the dimensions of the paper you need to create your custom sized shadow box.

I used a blue cardstock for the shadow box. I followed the steps on the punch board. I placed the cross stitched panel on the center of the punched cardstock and  folded the scored lines towards the center.

To make this into a frame, I die cut the same blue cardstock using an easel die from The Stamp Market Scalloped Frame Die set. I die cut this twice and stacked the pieces to make it durable. After all, this piece is very important in keeping the shadow box upright.

I added a ribbon to the back of the easel to prevent the shadow box from tipping backward.

I added rickrack trims to the photo frame. I used the We R Makers Creative Flow Glue Gun to adhere the trims so if you see any strings of glue, it is from that. I am not a neat glue gun user.

I adhered transparent stars to the corners of the frame, hiding where the two colored rickrack trims meet. I also used the glue gun in adhering the stars.

I added blue gems to the cross stitched pattern for some shimmery accent.

Now, my stitched pattern is up for display. I hope you like today's project. Below is a short video of the stand-up frame.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

12 Days of Christmas Cross Stitching Template-Day 12

Hello! Welcome back to day 12 of my blog series of 12 Days of Christmas Cross Stitching. It is the last day! If you have been with me all these 12 days, thank you very much. If you just joined me, just hit old post on the bottom because there are 11 stitched patterns to see before this.

Although the original stich pattern is an advent calendar, due to lack of time, I settled with stitching the first 12 and stitch the rest for next year.

My take aways doing this project is that I could have substituted some colors with another kind of embroidery floss (metallic, glittered or variegated) since I have some of it in my thread stash. It will also be nice if I can do a reel each time I stitch. In that way, I can share to you my awe each time an image comes to form after continued stitching. It is like Christmas morning.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I trully appreciate your time especially these times of hustle and bustle. As early as now, let me greet you a very Merry Christmas.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

12 Days of Christmas Cross Stitching-Day 11

Hello! Welcome back to day 11 of my blog series of 12 Days of Christmas Cross Stitching.

For this pattern, I must have incorrectly counted the stitches. The tree ended up near the bottom of the stitching panel. I just zoomed in on the tree that's why you are not able to see it.

I am nearing the end of this blog series. As early as now, I would like to thank you for checking in and seeing what is the stitched pattern of the day.

Please come back for Day 12.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

12 Days of Christmas Cross Stitching-Day 1

Hello! I am starting a new series here in my blog. If you have been following my blog, you probably know that I love to stitch on paper. In fact, I am addicted to cross stitching again. It was a total distraction to my crafting duties that I enjoy a lot.

The stitching pattern I used is designed by Dorigo Michela for Crocette a gogo which I purchased at a local store, Colour and Cotton Needleworks. The pattern is recommended to be stitched on a 13" x 23" fabric to create an advent calendar. The elements of the pattern fit a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" cardstock panel making it perfect for this project. The stitching pattern includes 25 images for stitching. Due to lack of time, I was only able to stitch 12 of the images.

I used Neenah Desert Storm 100 lb cardstock for my stitching panels. I cut this into 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" panel.

I added perforations to this panel using the Waffle Flower A2 Piercing Panel die. This die creates a faux 14 count Aida cloth fabric for stitching.

I used 2 strands of DMC embroidery floss for the cross stitching and 1 strand of embroidery floss for the straight stitch. I followed the colors on the color chart. If I don't have the color in my stash, I find a substitute color using a color converter by thread-bare.com so I can use my floss stash.

I took a photo of the stitching pattern with my phone so I can zoom and make th pattern larger making it blurry vision friendly. I used magnifying glasses by We R Memory Keepers.

I located the center of the pattern and the stitching panel. I marked this with a pencil. This is where I started stitching going outwards to make sure my image is at the center of the panel.

I did not stitch the number of the image and the frame which is part of the stitching pattern.

I did my straight stitches wrong in this piece. I did my usual way of doing a running stitch in between the boxes on this project. Somehow, the pattern has the straight stich on the middle of a stitching box which meant I have to poke the paper. I was afraid that I will tear the paper at one point. I learned better on my future stitched panels which I will share here as I go through each finished stitched pieces as we count down the days to Christmas.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you come back for Day 2.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
