Hello! Welcome to my blog. I created this card for Kat Scrappiness and to participate in the Color Hues Challenge. I am using the KS Buffalo Plaid Backdrop die and the KS Happy Birthday Word with Shadow die.
I partially die cut the plaid backdrop die on a peach colored cardstock. I did not die cut the two center rows of the plaid.
I threaded a sheer wide ribbon through the vent holes created by the die as seen on the photo below. I secured the ribbon with a narrow strong double sided adhesive on the back of the plaid background.
I stitched in flower sequins to the plaid backdrop die cut panel. I layered two flower sequins and secured it to the plaid backdrop die cut panel with a french knot.
I trimmed a teal cardstock at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" for the back panel.
I also trimmed another piece of teal cardstock for the center trim of the plaid backdrop die cut panel. To continue the pattern of the plaid, I embossed the teal cardstock strip using the plaid backdrop die. To create this impression, I used an embossing mat over the platform base. The mat is under the cardstock with the die secured over it with a non-tacky tape to avoid shifting while this is being ran through the die cut machine. The cutting plate is placed on top of this sandwich. Make sure to check your die cutting machine's manufacturer's instructions on the proper plate sandwich required to do embossing. You can better see the impression created by the die on the photo below.
I adhered the wide strip of teal cardstock on the non-die cut portion of the plaid backdrop panel.
I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment twice on a dark peach cardstock. I adhered this on top of each other for some dimension. I pounced the bottom part of the word birthday on Versamark ink, then poured rose gold embossing powder to it. I melted the powder with a heat gun.
To achieve this same look on the word happy, I covered the upper portion of the word birthday with a non-tacky tape. I pounced the Versamark ink on the bottom half of the word happy. I repeated the same process I did on the word birthday.
To fill in the empty space on the sides of the die cut sentiment, I stitched the same flower sequins to each side of the sentiment.
This panel was adhered to a top folding A2 note card.
I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
