Faux Letterpress Mini Slimline Card

Hello! Welcome  back to my blog. This is my first card as a participant in the Altenew Educator Certification Program. I am so excited to be finally a part of it!

For this card, the stars are pressed into the paper which you can see more on the photo below. I am using the Altenew Halftone Stars Nesting die set. These dies have a matching stamp set but who said that you can only use it to die cut the stamped image?

I am using the six smallest star die cuts for the card. I die cut four pieces of heavy weight white cardstock for each star except for the smallest and the largest, which I die cut two pieces only. I also die cut two pieces of vellum for each star except for the smallest and the largest. You don't have to limit yourself in using only white cardstock. In fact, this is one way of using your cardstock scraps. Just make sure that you are using the same weight of cardstock for all die cuts.

Using a liquid glue, I adhered two star die cuts on top of each other, then adhered the matching vellum on top. After I am done doing this with all the stars, I adhered the star to the next largest sized star.

For my card panel, I am using a black watercolor paper. I cut this into a mini slimline card sized at 6 1/4" x 3 1/4". I inked the largest stacked star with Hero Arts Sea Salt Reactive ink. I positioned this at the center of the black watercolor paper panel and ran this through the die cut machine. Follow your machine's instructions on how to layer your shims to get the best results. I am using a Sizzix Big Shot machine. My layers include a platform, a cutting plate, an embossing mat, my project to be embossed, and the other cutting plate.

While the ink is wet, I pounced some Perfect Pearl Blue Hydrangea powder to the star. I repeated this step to the other stars.

I added splatters of gold and blue metallic watercolor paint to the background.

For the sentiment, I heat embossed a stamp from the Altenew Label Love stamp set on white cardstock using Versamark ink. I poured silver embossing powder to it, then heat set it. I fussy cut this up to the edge. I adhered strips of scrap cardstock to the back for some dimension, then adhered it to the center star.

I trimmed off an 8th of an inch from the top and bottom of the black watercolor cardstock. I trimmed an 8th of an inch silver cardstock. I adhered the black panel to a top folding white mini slimline card. I adhered the silver strips to the top and bottom of the card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
