Glitter Paste on Glitter Paper

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our challenge theme is on Mermaids and/or Sea Colours. Our sponsor for this challenge is Oddball Art Co. I am featuring Molly The Mischievous Mermaid image.

I thought I will not make it to the deadline for this challenge. I was having problems printing the image. I tried our other printer and it will still not print the image on a cardstock. It will only print the image on regular typing paper. Good thing I was able to print it using the Cricut Design Space.

I colored the image with Copic markers and Prismacolor color pencils. I had difficulty coloring the image because of the light lines of the print out. When I encounter this type of problem, I look for a colored version of the supplied image in the internet. This helps a lot in guiding me how to color the image.

I added details to the image using Sakura Souffle pens. I added a die cut star and several star sequins.

For the panel, I cut a lavender glitter cardstock to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I created a scale stencil using the Cricut machine and the Cricut vinyl stencil. I positioned the glitter cardstock underneath the stencil. I mixed up some Wenci Vecchi translucent textured paste with Tim Holtz Distress Oxides in Picked Raspberry & Salty Ocean. I applied this to the stencil to create a gradient look. For the bottom of the panel, I added Cosmic Shimmer Antique Rose Kiss. I removed the stencil and set this to dry. I wiped off the paste from the stencil using a baby wipe. I adhered the stencil back to the release paper so I can use it again on a future project.

I die cut the image using a Hero Arts Nested Oval die. I created an oval frame on a dark purple cardstock using the same oval die and the next smallest size oval die. I adhered this to the panel with the image. I inked the edges with a purple dye ink to cover the white paper core.

I stamped the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things Mason Jar Labels stamp set. I used the Misti Stamping Tool in stamping the sentiment so I can repeatedly stamp the sentiment until I get a crisp impression.

I adhered this to the center of the stenciled glitter panel, then adhered it to a top folding note card.

  1. Great image but an even better background. Both come together to make a wonderful card.

Thanks so much for entering your project into our latest challenge over at Pattie's Creations. Good luck in the draw.
