Hello! I created this to join the Lawn Fawn Challenge Blog. I wanted to create
something other than a card so I created a snow globe that can stand up and be
put on display.
I started off by putting my idea into a sketch. I created a stand up paper
display before, a
Faux Carved Paper Pumpkin, which guided me in creating this stand up snow globe. Do check it out, if
you have time.
I am using the following Lawn Fawn products:
- Ready, Set, Snow Lawn Cuts
- Ready, Set, Snow Shaker Add-On
- Ready, Set, Shake
- Critters In The Arctic
This involves a lot of layers so I die cut a lot of the window snow globe. I
am using a heavy cardstock for most of the layers. I die cut a solid snow
globe for the back layer. I used one of the negative cuts of the window snow
globe and added stitching holes to it.
I added cross stitching to the negative cut of the snow globe using several
blue embroidery floss.
I stamped the narwhal on gray cardstock. I blended gray dye ink to add some
shadows. I added dots using the small and broad tips of Sakura White Gelly
Roll pen. I added shimmer to the horn using a Sakura Stardust Pen. I added
blush for the cheek. I traced the eye outline with a black ink pen. I fussy
cut the narwhal leaving a small border around the image.
Now, I am going to build up the layers starting with the back. I adhered a
window snow globe and the stitched negative cut to the solid snow
globe.
For the front, I adhered a shimmer paper on a heavy white cardstock using
Stick It double adhesive. I die cut the window snow globe to this. I added
an acetate to the back.
The next layer will be the layer where the narwhal will be attached. I added
a string to the back of the narwhal using double adhesive tape. I loosely
adhered the strings to the front on one of window snow globe using double
adhesive tape. I added foam adhesive to the back of one of the window snow
globe. I adhered these two window snow globes, making sure it is lined
up.
Another layer is the shaker layer. I adhered acetate to the front of one of
the window snow globe and also to the back of another window snow globe. I
added double layered foam adhesive around the window opening of the window
die cut to create a well. I adhered this to the die cut with the acetate
adhered to the front. I brushed some anti-static powder on the acetates that
will be in contact with the confetti, and also brushed the inner edge of the
foam. I added Pretty Pink Posh Confetti to the well. I sealed the shaker
with the other window die cut.
Putting the layers together, I added foam tape to the stitched background
layer. I adhered the shaker layer to this. I added foam tape again then
adhered the narwhal layer to it. I adhered the front layer next with the use
of liquid glue.
For the sentiment, I die cut the matching die on gray cardstock. I stamped
the sentiment on one of the label die cuts using Versamark ink. I heat
embossed this with silver embossing folder. I adhered the label die cuts on
top of each other with the embossed label on top for dimension. I adhered
this to the base of the snow globe.
You can see the layers on the photo above. Given a good shake, the narwhal
will move. Watch the video below to see the shaker in action.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
