I had difficulty in creating a card this week. All I know is I want to make a tribute card to our dog, Speeder, who passed away last Wednesday. Whew! I am still saddened knowing he is not here anymore. We all miss him a lot but we also have to accept that he is in a happier place now. Ooops! I am getting teary eyed again.
I was going to use a dog stamp but I made a card before using that stamp with him as an inspiration (
Dog Scene Card.) I don't want to ruin that happy memory. So, I created a card with a sentiment that I want to send to Speeder, wherever he is.
I am determined to use the coffee cup stamp and the ombre stamping technique I learned from Jennifer McGuire (
Ombre Stamping.) Come to think of it, most of the techniques I try I learned from watching her videos. I wanted to stack the cups or have them overlap each other, and/or fuzzy cut it. None of it was working for me. I ended up stamping a cup side by side, no overlapping. I use the colors in the photo inspiration for the cups. I have to use a stamp positioner to ensure that I am stamping at the correct spot. I know it is a fairly sized solid stamp, but sometimes I am not accurate when re-stamping.
I die cut a heart per cup. The cups are heat embossed using clear powder. I applied Wink of Stella on the hearts then Glossy Accents. I die cut the flowers using pink vellum. I decided to resurrect my flocking powder. After applying a tiny dot of Glossy Accents to the middle of the flower, I poured flocking powder on top of it. I set this aside to dry then adhered with clear dimensional tape.
The background of the stamp was created using Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I spritz and splatter some Tea colored spray mists. The heart is glued straight on to the note card. I foam mounted the background with the stamped coffee cups to the card base.
And as for the sentiment, it is just how I feel like telling Speeder, "
Thanks so much for all the happy memories. We wish you could have stayed with us longer but I know there is a reason why you came to us and why you had to go. We miss you. And we love you." I am getting teary eyed again, so I will stop my entry here.
Thanks for viewing my blog.
