One Layer Hello Card

I created a card for this challenge.

I used Copic markers to create the background. I used the chisel tip. I used masking tape to ensure a straight line for each color. I applied the Copic colorless blender (0) using a sponge dauber to the background stamp. I laid the card on top of the wooden background stamp. I used an ink roller to ensure a good impression of the background stamp to the card. I stamped the sentiment in black. I applied Wink of Stella to 'hello,' and applied Glossy Accent. As finishing touch, I adhered clear sequins. I also round the corners.

Striped Cups Card

I started working on this card since last week hoping to make it to last week's challenge. But things got hectic, from business meetings, work and packing up for our vacation. We just came back from our Panama City Beach vacation but since it is the weekend, it's go to work time for me.  Anyway, I am so happy to be able to finish this one layer card for this week's challenge.

I stamped the cards on Copic coloring paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored each cup with Copic markers, blend it, then used Copic marker 0 to create the light colored stripes. It took a couple of blending before I got the look that I want to create. I fuzzy cut each card. I planned my lay out. I had to make some pencil marks to make sure the steam and saucer will be stamped at the right spot.  I heat embossed the steam using Platinum Sparkle powder.  I heat embossed the saucer using Gold powder. I created the colored background using Hero Arts and Tim Holtz Distress Inks.  I die cut a couple of hearts using vellum.  I adhered it to the steam.  I brushed Wink of Stella to the hearts, then applied Glossy Accents to it.  I heat embossed the sentiment using orange powder.  Then, it is time to adhere the cups with dimensional tape.

Father's Day Card Box

I made this gift box as a Father's Day gift to my husband, and at the same time, I submitted it for a design team call. It did not have a gift inside but what's in it are notes from my sons for their daddy. I custom cut the cards to fit this package. 

I just followed the design of the patterned paper as to where I punched holes on the tie. I hand sewed a blue twine were the holes are.

Birthday Party Card

I am participating in the Mama Elephant's challenge based on the photo below.

Mama Elephant & Me

I love the gift toppers and the colors in this photo so I tried to apply these elements to my card. 

Here are close up photos of the critters. I hope you like them. 

The hats are made using a 1 inch craft circle cut in quarters. I applied washi tape on top of it. The hat tips is a gold metallic washi tape.

Sweet Macrame Card

I made this card for a design team call. I wasn't picked that's why it is time to post the photo in my blog. I posted a card before using the same stamp set. I used water colors for that card. Here is the link, in case you are interested to compare, http://ienjoywhatido.blogspot.com/2014/06/watercoloring-some-odd-girl.html.  For this card, I used Copic markers. I braided in the sequin into the twine until it is long enough to go around the white stamped area to serve as an outline.

Vellum Coloring and Diffuser Embossing

I created a 3D bouquet of flowers using the Paper Smooches Denims & Daisies stamp set. I embossed the flower on vellum using white powder. I colored the wrong side of the flower, then fuzzy cut it. For the flower wrap, I used the pocket metal die to cut a kraft colored paper. I folded it to create a paper flower wrap. I distressed this with tea dye ink. I cut flower wires, and stuck them in the flower wrap. I applied a small dot of Glossy Accent on the center of each flower, then adhered it to the the flower wires. I was going to try the same technique with the leaves, but the stamp set only came with solid leaf stamp and dotted leaf stamp. The color didn't show through the dotted leaf, so I die cut leaves using vellum, and colored the back of the leaves. I applied the same technique on the sentiment banner. I don't have the Streamers Die so I created my own streamer. 

I dry embossed a white card stock using the doily folder. I used a diffuser to keep the center plain and without impression. I wanted the oval outlined, so I secured the oval diffuser on the oval area, and ran it through my Sizzix again. It created an oval impression on the card to create a break between the embossed and flat areas. 

I used this oval diffuser to cover my oval as I spritz on the embossed area so it is not all plain white. I used a pattern paper as a mat, then adhered it to a white card stock base.

Macaroon Inspired Card

I made a card for this week's challenge inspired by the colorful macaroons I bought at Costco before. I saw another photo of this colorful macaroons in a magazine. I have this idea for a while but didn't get to make the card until now. 

I cut out a circle Post-It to use as my mask. I stamped the coffee bean stamp around this mask using Memento Ink. I colored it with Copics. Before working on the filling, I removed the mask and worked on the sentiment. I heat embossed the sentiment 'friend' with black powder. I inked the s from the 'hugs' stamp to build up the word 'friends.' I die cut forever and heat embossed it with black powder to have the same look as the 'friends' sentiment.

For the filling, I used Marvy Uchida Liquid Applique. It is my first time to use this pen. I bought it during Archiver's (I miss this store.) close-out sale. I had a hard time squeezing the liquid out. I wasn't sure how to use it so I searched the internet for a video tutorial on it. After heat setting it, I love how the macaroon looks.

After assembling the card, I feel my card still needs something. I used a left-over circle die cut to make a border between the sentiment and the macaroons. I heat embossed it with pink powder to tie in with the color. Still unhappy, I masked the macaroon area and spritz some pink color onto the circle. It is a very subtle color and shine but added some color to the white circle. It also warped my card so I had to heat it quickly, then lay an acrylic block on top of it. If I am going to make this card again, I will spray the circle first before assembling my card.

You Rock Vintage Card

I made a card for the Cutting Edge Challenge #1. The inspiration for the challenge is a card made by DT Jackie Rockwell. I was trying to copy the image to paste it here but it wouldn't work. Just click the grayed out words at the start of this blog and/or click the Cutting Edge Challenge Badge on the right side of my blog.

This is the card I created for the challenge. I kept the color of the star as is since it complements the black sentiment. I inked the star using distress inks. I misted the star. I love the shine it created. Too bad, I cannot capture it in photo.

I applied Versamark ink to the sentiment, applied Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder, heat embossed it, and poured glitter to it. I am still having difficulty using the sticky embossing powder. It took me about 3 or 4 times of repeating this process before I was happy with the result. After the initial application of glitter, which didn't cover all of the sentiment, I brushed the sentiment using Versamark pen, then applied the sticky embossing powder. I guess the trick is not to overheat it, or else it won't be sticky.

The background paper was also inked with distress ink. I spritz this with water. I poked holes as a border using the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy. I hand stitched the border using twine.

I embellished the card with sequins and stars. The 'you' is from an alpha sticker sheet by Lily Bee Design.
