Pinwheel Window Card

 

I made a card with the challenge of extending the use of my PS metal die in mind. I came up with making a pinwheel out of the square hole reinforcer die in the Toppers Die Set, and this is what I came up with...

Hand-Stitching and Water Coloring

I made this flower card to submit to Trendy Twine's April Challenge: Spring Has Sprung. I used watercolor paper and poked holes using a flower stencil. Using the new Tim Holtz Circle Ink Daubers, I inked the poked areas with the colors I chose for my flowers. I inked the surrounding area. I spritz it with water, then dried it with a heat gun. I stitched the flowers using the corresponding color. I used Tim Holtz Distress markers to add more details to the flower and an ink blending brush to lighten the color. Sequins served as the center of the flower. And this finishes the background of my card. 

I stamped the sentiment on vellum. This is a tall card at 3.5 x 8.5.

Chicken Wire Board Inspired Card

I saw a craft project in the net on how a chicken wire was turned into a memo board. Then this challenge came along, so I think of creating a project using both inspirations.

   

And here is the card I created...

I think this project can be replicated on a scrapbook lay out with photos used as banners instead of the heart tags used here.

My card wasn't chosen for last week's PS Anything Goes Challenge so I am posting the inside of the card.

I am ready to mail it to my previous co-worker. I will be working on stamping the Babe Block on the envelope, too, to unify the theme.

Easter Colors Card

I made a card for my retired co-worker which at the same time, will work for this week's PS Anything Goes challenge.

 

 

 

 

I got splotchy impressions. I don't know if it was the solid Babe Block stamp or the ink pad. But I let the image be. It added some character to the finished card. I painted the colored scalloped blocks with Wink of Stella for a subtle glittered look. I added dots to the scallops with a black marker.

Watercoloring

Watercolor in cards is a hit these days. I finally gave in to Tim Holtz' Distress Markers. From which, I created this. This is supposed to be focal point for a Thanksgiving card I was making but the sentiment doesn't fit in the window I created. I had to do it all over again with a shorter sentiment. I'll post the card when it is close to Thanksgiving. Too early to have it in my blog. It was I card I made and submitted to a magazine but I didn't hear back from them so most likely, it was rejected.

Colorful Card with Iron-off Embossed Sentiment

 

I made this background as inspired by a patterned paper made by American Crafts under #Summer Collection (Road Trip.)

 

The sentiment was done based on Jennifer McGuire's Iron-off embossing technique, http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2014/04/video-watercolor-backgrounds-iron-off-embossing-birthday-hop-giveaway.html. She used it with her background stamps (which I will try next.) I decided to use try the technique on the sentiment on my card. Since my embossed sentiment had scattered embossing powder all over despite using the powder tool, I ironed-off the embossed sentiment. It flattened my sentiment, thickening the margin of the sentiment. It also looks like it's been written with a chalk. So the mess was tolerable. Here's the outcome...

I made this card for My Favorite Things .

 

 

     I didn't know that I would enjoy water coloring. I was inspired by a card made by Jennifer McGuire, http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2014/03/video-watercolor-greetings.html. So I decided to give it a try and come up with a card that I will submit to MFT's challenge at the same time.
     I used a very light colored ink (Memento Desert Sand). I used Tim Holtz Distress Markers to color the sentiment. I inked an acrylic block with the color I am going to use, spritz it with water, then used a water brush to color it in. I was very careful in making sure the colors won't blend since they get activated with water. Wink of Stella completed the look.
