Trying Foil On Sticky Embossing Powder (New Craft Stash #10)

Hello! I am featuring the Simon Says Stamp Sending Smiles Word And Shadow Wafer Dies. My last New Craft Stash also features a SSS die. Check it out when you get the chance.

I wanted to use foil on this card so I am giving Wow! Snowy White Fab Foil another try. I have not had success using this foil so I am giving it another try.

I stamped the SSS Cling Rubber Stamp Center Cut Heart Background on a dark pink cardstock using Versamark ink. I poured Ranger Sticky embossing powder to the stamped panel then heat set it. I placed the white foil, shiny side up, on top of the stamped panel. After this has cooled down, I rubbed my fingers on the area to transfer the foil to the sticky embossing powder. The impression is not as crisp as an embossed powder look. But if you are looking for an ironed off embossed powder look, this should be okay. 

I inked the panel with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Tattered Rose using a blender blush. 

For the sentiment, I die cut several of the 'sending smile' sentiments die on my reject foiled panels. One of the die cut sentiments was perfectly foiled so I placed that on the top and adhered the rest to its back to create some dimension. 

I die cut the shadow on a pink vellum and adhered this to the back of the stacked sentiment. I adhered this to the panel.

I die cut a smiley face from the foiled scraps using Lawn Fawn Selfie Frames die set. I die cut these about three times and adhered it on top of each other as well for the stacked look.

Artful Christmas Sentiment Card

Hello! I am featuring my own drawn Christmas sentiment. I started off with a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" watercolor paper. I drew straight lines on this paper to guide me in drawing my font. After I am contented with the spacing of each letter, I colored the letters using Karin markers. I am using colors from their December color palette, Burgundy 075, Fire Red 092, Apple 210 and Olive Green 281. I colored the word 'merry' with the Burgundy on the top portion of the letter, and the Fire Red on the bottom portion of the letter. Using a water brush, I blended both pigments on the center of the letter. I repeated the same process on the word "Christmas' using Olive Green on the top portion of the letters and Apple on the bottom. I heat set this to speed up the drying. I carefully erased the pencil lines. Using an extra fine tip black gel pen, I added the outlines to the letters. The word merry is slightly off center so I added a Christmas tree using a Hero Arts stamp. Something I have discovered with the Karin markers is that I can actually use it to add pigment direct to the stamp. This made the coloring of this small tree with different colors so easy. 

Creating this panel into a card, I pulled out from my craft stash a Martha Stewart Poinsettia edger punch and some clear adhesive jewels that you cut apart with a craft knife. Do you still remember these jewels? 

I cut two pieces of 5 1/2" x 3/4" green cardstock. I punched this with the edger punch. I also punch a red pearl cardstock but strategically positioning it on the poinsettia so I can piece this on the punched border. 

I adhered the borders to the top and bottom of the panel with foam adhesive. I cut small pieces of foam so I can slip it under the border showing through the open poinsettia. I squirted a dot of glue on these foam adhesives and then pieced in the red pearl punched poinsettia. I added the jewels to the centers of the poinsettia, squirting glue first for better adhesion of the jewels.

Hot Cocoa Inspired Winter Card (Craft My Stash #8)

Hello! I am featuring the Echo Park's Feelin' Cozy, a patterned paper pack that I have in my stash for a while now. The thing I love about paper packs is the ease in putting a project together since most of its contents coordinate with each other. 

I die cut a red and blue patterned paper using a Simon Says' Stamp heart cup die. This die is a part of a monthly card kit. I needed one of the cup's handle on the opposite direction. To achieve this, I die cut the cup with the die on the wrong side of the blue patterned paper. I also die cut the wrong side of the red patterned paper to die cut the heart on the center of the cup. I die cut an extra heart on the blue patterned paper. I inked the edges of the cups with the same colored ink as the cup.

I attached a tape on the back of the cup and pieced in the heart. I adhered the extra heart die cuts, with the blue heart on the red cup, and the red heart on the blue cup.

I created marshmallows using a die from My Favorite Things Mason Jar Mug die set. It is actually a die to create ice cubes but it also worked in creating marshmallows. I inked the edges of the marshmallow with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Vintage Photo so it will appear toasted-like. I also die cut a straw out of red striped patterned paper using the straw die from the same MFT die set. I arranged this through the cup opening the cup die created. I secured this by taping it on the back.

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" light blue patterned paper from the paper pack. I spritz this with pearlized water and heat set this to dry. 

I die cut a scallop frame using SSS This Is The Life Frames die set on a blue cardstock. I gently blended Tim Holtz Broken China Distress Ink. I die cut several more scalloped frames using white cardstock. I trimmed an acetate and adhered this to the back of the blue scalloped frame. I adhered the white scalloped frame on top of each other. I adhered this to the pearlized patterned paper panel. I brushed the edges of the panel with an anti-static powder tool. I also rubbed a the acetate with a used dryer sheet to decrease the static. I poured various snowflake sequins to this well. When there was enough sequins, I sealed the well with the blue scalloped frame with the acetate. I set this aside to dry.

For the sentiment, I am using one of the cut-apart patterned paper. Using a craft knife, I separated each sentiment line from each other. I created fishtail ends on one of the sentiment strips. I adhered this to the acetate with the help of a T-square ruler to keep the sentiment strips straight.

I adhered the cups with foam tape. I added Nuvo White Blizzard Glitter Drops on the hearts and set this aside to dry.

I was planning to personalize this for a friend and her husband who will be celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary next week. I will put a personalized greeting in the inside of the card.

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge~Sparkle And Shine

Monochromatic Card

Hello! We have a new at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. The theme of our last challenge for this year is Person/People And Choose Another Option (Sketch and/or Color). I am the author of the blog challenge. I created a sketch for the challenge and added a color challenge option. When I was looking for the color of the year, I did not pay attention to the year. Instead of next year's color, I submitted this year's color to our moderator for approval of the challenge theme last November. I am not sure if 2021's color of the year was already chosen last month but since my other co-DT members have their creations submitted using this year's color of the year, we will keep it this way.

I am using an image from one of our sponsors. I chose this image, a nurse, as tribute to the millions of heroic front liners taking care of patients during this pandemic. Now that the vaccines are finally being administered here in the US, there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I added a few details on the hair using a black color pencil. I also used gel pens to add accents to the clipboard. 

I die cut this with a rectangle die from Waffle Flower A7 Nesting dies. Using the next larger sized rectangle, I die cut a blue glitter paper to matte the panel with the image. I adhered the image panel to this with foam adhesive.

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" blue diagonal striped patterned paper. Following the diagonal lines, I adhered blue die cuts of Sugar Pea Designs Heart Beat SugarCut for a tone on tone effect. 

I added strips of light blue dotted washi tape which I ran thru a paper crimper. I heat embossed the sentiment on a light blue cardstock strip using Paper Source Navy Blue embossing powder. I adhered this sentiment strip with foam adhesive. The sentiment is from The Stamping Village Thinking Of You Stamp Set. I rounded the corners with We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper. I added navy blue sequins for some embellishment.

Mini Envelope Christmas Card

Hello! I created this card to join in the Scrapbook And Cards Today's Blog Challenge Week as they celebrate the release of their new magazine edition. There are several challenges but I chose to participate in the Mood Board which you can see below. 

The photos that caught my eye are the top right and the top bottom. I also love the featured colors in this mood board.

I die cut mini envelopes using a die from the Lawn Fawn Happy Mail die set. I die cut different colored vellum. I trimmed a cream cardstock at 1" x 1 1/2" and scored it at 3/4" on the long side. This will be the mini card inserts in the envelope. I stamped different messages inside each mini card using the LF Tiny Tags Saying stamp set. I stamped the sentiments using Versafine Onyx Black ink. To embellish the front of the mini card, I am using a Christmas tree foil tape. The Christmas trees come continuously. I snipped off every other tree following the tree's contour which is not hard to do since it is just a straight cut. I adhered this to the front of the mini card. I rounded the bottom edges using a We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper.

For the panel, I die cut a gray cardstock using a stitched rectangular die from Mama Elephant Peek A Frame Creative Cuts. I splattered some W Plus 9 Shimmer Spray to this panel. I added white splatters using Copic Opaque White Ink. I set this aside to dry. 

For the main sentiment, I die cut the word joy from My Favorite Things. I die cut this on a pink and platinum vellum. I adhered the pink vellum on top of the white vellum die cut hoping it will make the pink color pop some more. Since the color is still too subtle, I carefully blended Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Ink to this die cut. 

I created sentiment strips to complete the sentiment. I used stamps from Ink Blot Shop and Hero Arts. I heat embossed the sentiments on a pink cardstock strips using Hero Arts white embossing powder. I blended the same Tim Holtz Distress Ink to these strips. I die cut the strips using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments die. 

I adhered the envelopes to this panel the same way as the envelopes on the mood board. I adhered the die cut sentiment, then the strips.

More Cricut Cut Elves

Hello! After I posted my Cricut Cut Elf, one of my friends asked me to create elves with her daughters as inspiration for how the elves will look. To make it more personal, I added a touch of Disney since my friend told me that that her daughters like Disney. 

I did the same cuts I made from the previous post except for the cut for the snow hat pompom and the cheeks. I edited the colors to make it a Disney Christmas themed outfit. I saved the negative cuts of the eyes and the lips.

I cut the skin using cream cardstock and blended Tim Holtz Distress inks in Vintage Photo and Ground Espresso. For the cheeks, I used a Ranger Detail Blending Tool to add Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Candied Apple. I colored the negative cut of the lips with a red Copic marker, and a black Copic marker for the eyes. I pieced this in and added Black Zig Wink of Stella to the eyelashes.

The cut creates black gloves for the elves which is created with the first layer. I needed white gloves. I used the Cricut Design Space Slice feature to create white gloves for the elves. You can also trace the glove portion of the first layer instead of using the Slice feature.

I added dots to the dress layer using a Memory Box Dot stencil and Hero Arts Unicorn White pigment ink to the dress layer. I added dots to the green scarf using a Heidi Swapp stencil. To add variation, I added Wow! White Pearl embossing powder to the red elf's scarf then heat embossed it. 

For the cardigan, I added dots of Black Sakura Glaze pen. I added Zig Clear Wink of Stella to the gloves, white tops and the ends of the scarves. 

For the hat, I added Spectrum Noir Solar Red and Emerald Green Shimmer pens. For the hat trim, I heat embossed it with Judikins Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder and Wow! White Pearl embossing powder. I also added shimmer to the socks.

For the bow, I added dots using Sakura White Gel pen. I added a green gem to the green elf, and Nuvo drop to the red elf. 

I die cut a circle from white felt for the snow hat's pompom.

I stacked the snow banks then applied a double adhesive tape on the top layer. I fussy cut the excess. I poured Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter. I burnish the glitter to the tape.

One of my friend's daughters wear eyeglasses. I cut the eyeglasses using black cardstock. I adhered an acetate to the back of the eyeglasses. After this has dried, I fussy cut the excess acetate. 

My friend wanted to make thess into Christmas tree ornaments and requested to have her daughters' names and the year added to the design. I chose the ornament in CDS. I was impressed how Cricut was able to cut this small ornament. It even cut the small hole on the top. I added foiling to the top layer of the ornament using We R Memory Keepers Quill Tool. I wrote my friend's daughters' name and the year using gold gel pen. I threaded a silver thread through the hole and looped the thread around the elf's hand, securing it with a double adhesive tape on the back. I added a small dot of glue on the front to keep the thread on the hand in place. I added a silver thread bow to the ornament. 

I adhered a LF Silver Sparkle Trimmings cord to the back with a double adhesive tape. I covered this with another base layer cut which I cut in black.

Weaved Cardstock Strips

Hello! I created this for the Scrapbook And Cards Care Recipe Challenge but I did not finish this card in time. I did not want to abandon the project and I am glad I did not. 

One of the recipes for the challenge is strips of colored cardstock. I went through my cardstock strips stash and pulled out colored cardstock strips to create my weave. I have done weaving on a card before. In case you want to check it out, here is the link, A Pocketful Of Love Weave Card.

I die cut the wreath using Lawn Fawn Mini Wreath die on different shades of green and brown cardstock. Another recipe is to use ink blending. I carefully blended ink to the wreath using Ranger Detail Blending Tool. I cut the wreath into several parts so I can adhere it to a die cut circle frame.

After the wreath has dried, I 'zhuzh' the leaves, which is the 3rd recipe, to give the wreath some dimension. I die cut the bow from Paper Smooches Bows Die on a pearl red cardstock. I adhered this to a red cardstock and fussy cut it using the outline as guide to create a solid layer for the bow. I also 'zhuzh' this bow for some dimension. I adhered this to the wreath and added a red sequin. I added Nuvo Bright Gold Drops to the wreath.

For the last recipe, I embossed a sentiment from Hero Arts Holiday Sayings on a black cardstock using Hero Arts white embossing powder. I die cut this into a sentiment strip using Avery Elle Simple Sentiments Elle-ments die.

I die cut a kraft cardstock with a stitched rectangle die from Mame Elephant Peek-A-Frame Creative Cuts. I adhered the weave, the wreath and the sentiment strip. I added foam to the back of the sentiment strip.
