Cards for Auction for a Cause

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. I want to let you know that the cards I created as shown above are being auctioned with the proceeds going to the Turner Syndrome Foundation. Other crafters have donated their wonderful creations for this good cause. I hope you consider purchasing a card or two or maybe more. The cards that will be auction have the themes of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hannukah and Christmas. Just in time for the upcoming holidays. I highly encourage you to consider making a purchase or if not, there is an option to donate. The goal is set at $3K.

I am not affiliated with this foundation. What I know about Turner Syndrome is what I have learned in Nursing school. I am just so happy to be able to help. Below is the link to the auction. While you are there, click the overview tab to find out more about this foundation and its cause.

The auction opens on September 1, 9 AM EST and will run until the 5th.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day.

Hexagon Shaped Fall Card

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's project is for this month's Incy Wincy Designs Challenge. The theme for this challenge is/are Colours of Autumn +/or Not a Square or Rectangle. Also, Incy Wincy is going to take a break for the rest of the year to allow some of our DT members to focus on their hectic lives. If you have time, please drop by the blog and leave some encouraging comments to the DT. They are doing their best to keep the challenge blog going.

We have two sponsors for this challenge. The image I am using is from the Little Minute Manda which I linked below. Isn't the gnome cute?

I printed the image on a light weight white cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I got my inspiration colors from a paper pad by Echo Park.

After I colored the image, I fussy cut this leaving a small border around it.

For the background panel, I adhered scraps of plaid patterned paper on a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of scrap paper. I partially die this using a hexagon die. I partially die cut it so I can extend the length of the polygon. You don't have to this. You can just use a regular trimmer to create the same shape.

For the card base, on a kraft colored note card, I traced the hexagon die which created a border around the plaid polygon. I used my paper trimmer to cut the note card on the traced lines.

I adhered the patterned paper to the polygon note card, making sure it is centered. I adhered the gnome.

I die cut several of the green scrap patterned paper from the same paper pack with a grass border die. I adhered this to the bottom of the wagon to ground it.

The sentiment is from an ephemera pack from Simple Stories. It had a bit of overhang which I snipped off so it will follow the shape of the polygon.

I hope you like today's card, and I also hope that you join us in this month's challenge. I will miss Incy Wincy especially its followers who have tirelessly join our challenges. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Ribbon Weaved BirthdayCard

Hello! Welcome to my blog. I created this card for Kat Scrappiness and to participate in the Color Hues Challenge. I am using the KS Buffalo Plaid Backdrop die and the KS Happy Birthday Word with Shadow die.

I partially die cut the plaid backdrop die on a peach colored cardstock. I did not die cut the two center rows of the plaid.

I threaded a sheer wide ribbon through the vent holes created by the die as seen on the photo below. I secured the ribbon with a narrow strong double sided adhesive on the back of the plaid background.

I stitched in flower sequins to the plaid backdrop die cut panel. I layered two flower sequins and secured it to the plaid backdrop die cut panel with a french knot.

I trimmed a teal cardstock at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" for the back panel.

I also trimmed another piece of teal cardstock for the center trim of the plaid backdrop die cut panel. To continue the pattern of the plaid, I embossed the teal cardstock strip using the plaid backdrop die. To create this impression, I used an embossing mat over the platform base. The mat is under the cardstock with the die secured over it with a non-tacky tape to avoid shifting while this is being ran through the die cut machine. The cutting plate is placed on top of this sandwich. Make sure to check your die cutting machine's manufacturer's instructions on the proper plate sandwich required to do embossing. You can better see the impression created by the die on the photo below.

I adhered the wide strip of teal cardstock on the non-die cut portion of the plaid backdrop panel.

I die cut the Happy Birthday sentiment twice on a dark peach cardstock. I adhered this on top of each other for some dimension. I pounced the bottom part of the word birthday on Versamark ink, then poured rose gold embossing powder to it. I melted the powder with a heat gun.

To achieve this same look on the word happy, I covered the upper portion of the word birthday with a non-tacky tape. I pounced the Versamark ink on the bottom half of the word happy. I repeated the same process I did on the word birthday.

To fill in the empty space on the sides of the die cut sentiment, I stitched the same flower sequins to each side of the sentiment.

This panel was adhered to a top folding A2 note card.

I hope you like today's card. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Paper Weaving

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. Today's card was inspired by Newton's Nook Designs Color Challenge. This is a card is also a tribute to my sister's cat, Bibi, who was lost and now, found. He is finally home after two weeks of being lost.

I worked on the weaving by trimming scraps of patterned paper at 1/4". The patterned papers I used have red and pink colors on it. After I've weaved the paper strips, I adhered this to a scrap of white cardstock. I die cut a slope on this weaved panel.

For the background, I used the Newton's Nook Designs Sunscape Stencil. I first inked the sun rays with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in SaltwaterTaffy. I applied ink heavily near the center then lightly towards the sun ray ends. I cleaned the stencil then rotated it so that the stencil will cover the inked sun rays. I blended THDO in Spun Sugar on these open areas. Some of the sun rays on the stencil does not reach the end of the paper. I just rotated the stencil until I can find a sun ray that will reach the edge of the paper.

I stamped the image on white cardstock. The cat is from NND Netwon's Graduation stamp set. I colored the image using Prismacolor color pencils with Bibi's color in mind. It is always a challenge to color a cat black. I fussy cut the image leaving a white border around it.

The globe was colored using the colors on the challenge. I added shimmer to the globe but this was not captured on the photo.

To complete the scene, I die cut a strip of the slope on green cardstock. I stamped a speech bubble on the sunscape portion. I made sure this is dry before stamping the sentiment which is also from the same stamp set. I added shadow to the speech bubble with a blue color pencil.

I adhered the cat with foam tape for dimension.

I hope you like today's card. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Die Cut on Patterned Paper

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. The challenge themes is/are about Sentiments and/or Die Cuts only or Birds and the Bees. You can win one or both prizes, depending on which part of the challenge you plan to participate on. Please visit the challenge blog for more details.

For my card, I am using a bird die from Simon Says Stamp and a flower die set from Concord & 9th. The patterned paper I am using is from Craft Consortium. I strategically die cut the layers to create depth and color variation on the bird and the flowers.

The bird die created detailed cut lines which I emphasized with a white Sakura Glaze pen.

I lightly added sticky ink to the flower edges and poured iridescent embossing powder to it, then heat set it for a bit of shimmer.

For the background panel, I am using a light blue cardstock cut at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I embossed this with a 3D floral embossing folder from Altenew. I inked the embossing folder with blue dye inks, then ran this through the die cut machine again to transfer the ink to the cardstock panel. I did this twice using two different shades of blue dye ink.

For the flat portion of the cardstock panel, I did ink smooshing using the same blue dye inks I used on the embossing folder.

I stamped the sentiment using a pink dye ink, then adhered the die cuts to the panel. I adhered this to a top folding vertical top folding A2 note card.

If you don't have a patterned paper like this, you can create your own especially if you have alcohol inks. I don't have alcohol inks so this is a great way of achieving the look of alcohol inks.

I hope you like today's card. Please join us in this month's challenge. We can't wait to see your projects.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

6/2024: Altenew decided to change its affiliate program starting this month. Below is my affiliate link to the website. I don't think I can directly link the products I used with this new program. Please feel free to do a product search. I will update as I figure this out. The good thing about this new affiliate program is that I get to earn on each Altenew product you purchase and not only on the product/s I used on this project. As before, there will be no additional cost to you if you make a purchase. It is just a way to help a fellow crafter sustain her love for crafting. While in the Altenew blog, don't forget to check out their new release for this month. Thank you for your support!

Icecream Inspired Holiday Card with Guest Artist

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. As the title says, we have a guest artist today. I welcome back my 11 year old son, Ryan. Take it away, son.

When I see my mom craft, she does it very neat. Then, I wanted to craft like her, so I did. I made this card because when I see my mom craft, I love it! I want to be a hard worker and a good crafter just like my mom.

How touching. I am glad I inspire you, my son.

I hope you like today's short post. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Soft Colors on Stencil

Hello. Welcome back to my blog. Today's card is my take on this month's Altenew Inspiration Challenge. I am using the stencil from Altenew's Silk Art Craft Your Life Project Kit. I blended the ink using blender brushes on white cardstock using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks. This is a 3-layered stencil set. The stencils are conveniently numbered as a guide to which stencil is to be used first.

Stencils #1 and #2 have parts that are very delicate. It can get malpositioned or worse, broken if not gentle in appling ink or mixed media. For such, I recommend using a temporary spray adhesive to prevent it from shifting while blending ink which may potentially break or twist these delicate parts. Also, be gentle in cleaning these stencils. You can either soak it in warm, soapy water or wipe the stencil gently, wiping the stencil following the direction of the stamen or leaf vein.

If you are going to use the stencil with the coordinating embossing folder and you are going to stencil first before embossing, emboss the floral cluster on scrap paper first. Use this as a guide to position the delicate parts of the stencil so that it will match up when you emboss it with the embossing folder. Or you can just emboss it first before using the stencil to add color to the floral cluster. Same thing, just align the malpositioned stamen and/or leaf veins of the stencil to the embossed floral cluster.

On to the card, I cut the panel at 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". I created a recessed frame with the use of a nesting rectangle die set. I die cut several more panels using scrap white cardstock. I adhered this to the back of the inked panel to add some dimension.

I stamped the sentiment on the inner panel using a stamp from Altenew Silk Art stamp set. I used a gray dye ink to maintain the soft look of the card.

I am using a pink cardstock cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" for the note card. I scored this at 4 1/4" to create a top folding horizontal card. I adhered the frame then the inner panel to the front of the card.

I hope you like today's card. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!
