String Art Birthday Card

Hello! This is a belated Happy Birthday card for my sister who celebrated her birthday last Tuesday. I was late in finishing her card. First, I was in a creative slump at the start of this week. Then I had to fulfill some obligations before I get to work on her card again. This actually helped me in breaking out of my creative slump especially after I did some coloring.

Anyway, back to the card, I followed this month's Altenew's Blog Challenge's color scheme. I poked holes on a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Hero Arts Azalea cardstock using the Altenew String Art Rectangles Die set. I used the largest die to create the hole impressions at the edges of the cardstock panel. I reinforced these holes by sticking a thin needle through it to a foam board.

I positioned the Altenew Happy die at the center of the azalea cardstock panel. I traced its edges lightly with a pencil. I started poking holes using this traced line as a guide using the same thin needle. I made sure that my holes are spaced well and that the corners of the letters have holes on it.

I started stringing the thread, using DMC Floss and DMC Diamant Metallic Thread.

I die cut the Altenew Happy die on gray cardstock. I die cut several of this and adhered it on top of each other for a stacked look. I blended Karin Silver Decobrush Metallic Marker on this.

To complete the sentiment, I stamped the word birthday on gray cardstock using Hero Arts Soft Granite Ink. The stamp is from Altenew Happy Birthday Stamp set. This stamp comes with a shadow which I am also using. I stamped the shadow with Delicata Rose Gold Pigment ink, then stamping it again with a light gray ink to tone  down the shimmer. I trimmed this into a strip. I adhered the sentiments to the center of the stringed panel following the outline of created by the stringed art.

I trimmed a sliver off the edges of the azalea cardstock panel. I adhered this panel to a gray 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" cardstock. I adhered this to a top folding A2 sized note card.

I used the Altenew String Art Rectangles Die on a previous post. Do check it out, if you have time.

Clean And Simple Card

Hello! We have a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Our first challenge of the year is Anything Goes. To make this challenge more special, we have three sponsors for this challenge.

I am using an image from one of our sponsors. I printed the image on Neenah Solar White cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers. I blended Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress Ink on the background. I created an acetate cloud mask using the Taylored Expression Rolling Clouds die.

I die cut the panel to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size using a die from the Hero Arts Rectangle Infinity Die.

The sentiment is from Li'l Inker Designs Greetings And Salutations stamp set. I stamped this using Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with a black embossing powder.

I added Nuvo Red Drops to the center of the bows.

I adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you join us in our latest challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder Winter Card

Hello! I created this card to join the Honey Bee Facebook Challenge (link at the bottom). At the same time, I think I might mass produce this card for teachers for Faculty Appreciation Day.

I die cut the Honey Bee Coffee Cup Gift Card Holder on a heavy weight white cardstock. I trimmed strips of Lawn Fawn Knit Picky 6x6 patterned paper. I applied adhesive all over the front flap of the coffee cup. I adhered the strips to create a pattern. I cut off the excess on the sides. I die cut the cover on white cardstock and adhered it to the cover flap. I heat embossed the sentiment using the HB Perfect Blend stamp set.

For the inside of the coffee cup, I punched the notches using We R Memory Keepers Envelope Notcher punch.

For the panel, I die cut the HB Burlap A2 Background on kraft cardstock. I trimmed a red patterned paper from the same paper pad collection at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I adhered the burlap die cut to this. I adhered the coffee cup after. I adhered this to a top folding note card.

The coffee cup lid tab won't lay flat despite giving this a good score, using heavy weight cardstock, and placing something heavy on top of it. Since this will be placed inside an envelope, I think having it slightly open once pulled out of the envelope will give the recipient a message that the coffee cup is interactive. If this bothers you, a small piece of tape to close the front tab and a rolled-up tape on the back of the lid tab should do the trick of keeping the lid from opening.

Extending The Use Of Christmas Themed Stamps (New Craft Stash #11)

Hello! Welcome back to my blog. For today's post, I am featuring a stamp set that I bought last October with the intent to use it in my Christmas cards but did not get to using it. I don't want to wait until the next Christmas to use it. So I challenged myself to use a Christmas stamp set for a non-Christmas theme. That's what I did for this card. I am featuring the Avery Elle Holiday Circle Tags clear stamp set, using the penguin to create a winter themed card.

I stamped the penguin on watercolor paper Versafine Onyx Black Ink. I colored the penguins with Karin markers. I die cut the penguins using a die from the My Favorite Things Circle Stax die set.

I trimmed a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Doodlebug Frosty Friends 6x6 patterned paper. I die cut 3 circle windows using a smaller circle die from the same circle stax die. I heat embossed the snowflakes from the same stamp set on the patterned paper using Wow! Silver Pearl embossing powder. For the sentiment, I heat embossed this using white embossing powder. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Season Greetings stamp set.

I blended Tim Holtz Dusty Concord Distress Ink on the edges of the circle windows. I applied Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust to the outline of the circle windows using a sponge brush. I adhered the cut up penguins to the back of the patterned paper, making sure the penguin is centered on the window.

I scattered and adhered some Trinity Stamps snowflakes on the panel.

Weaved Cardstock Strips Valentine's Card

Hello! I created this card for the Hero Arts Blog's Challenge on CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) A Favorite Card of the Year. My most recent created card that I really like and enjoyed creating is the Weaved Cardstock Strips. I used colored cardstock strips for that Christmas themed card. For this card, I used white cardstock strips and I created a Valentine's themed card.

I looked through my stash and pulled out all the white cardstock strips then started weaving.

For the focal point, I die cut the heart from the Hero Arts Floral Heart Stamp & Cut By Lia on red cardstock, vellum and red glitter paper. I did a bit of surgery on the red cardstocks and red glitter paper. On the red cardstocks, I trimmed off the details inside the heart to create a heart outline. For the glitter paper, I trimmed off the center solid portion.

I heat embossed the sentiment on the vellum die cut using Ranger Rich Red Embossing Powder. I adhered the glittered die cut on the back of the vellum slightly off setting it. I trimmed off the excess. I adhered one of the red heart outline on the back and adhered the other one on the front.

I adhered the weaved cardstock strips to a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" red carstock. I adhered the heart to the weaved panel. I added shimmer to the top red heart using Spectrum Noir Solar Red Shimmer Pen. I added several Ink Road Donna Pearls Flat Beads to the centers of the flowers.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I enjoyed creating the weaved portion of the card. It brought me back to my grade school days when we will do this in Art using art paper. It was also fun creating something new out of the heart floral die.

Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Trying Foil On Sticky Embossing Powder (New Craft Stash #10)

Hello! I am featuring the Simon Says Stamp Sending Smiles Word And Shadow Wafer Dies. My last New Craft Stash also features a SSS die. Check it out when you get the chance.

I wanted to use foil on this card so I am giving Wow! Snowy White Fab Foil another try. I have not had success using this foil so I am giving it another try.

I stamped the SSS Cling Rubber Stamp Center Cut Heart Background on a dark pink cardstock using Versamark ink. I poured Ranger Sticky embossing powder to the stamped panel then heat set it. I placed the white foil, shiny side up, on top of the stamped panel. After this has cooled down, I rubbed my fingers on the area to transfer the foil to the sticky embossing powder. The impression is not as crisp as an embossed powder look. But if you are looking for an ironed off embossed powder look, this should be okay.

I inked the panel with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Tattered Rose using a blender blush.

For the sentiment, I die cut several of the 'sending smile' sentiments die on my reject foiled panels. One of the die cut sentiments was perfectly foiled so I placed that on the top and adhered the rest to its back to create some dimension.

I die cut the shadow on a pink vellum and adhered this to the back of the stacked sentiment. I adhered this to the panel.

I die cut a smiley face from the foiled scraps using Lawn Fawn Selfie Frames die set. I die cut these about three times and adhered it on top of each other as well for the stacked look.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day!

Artful Christmas Sentiment Card

Hello! I am featuring my own drawn Christmas sentiment. I started off with a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" watercolor paper. I drew straight lines on this paper to guide me in drawing my font. After I am contented with the spacing of each letter, I colored the letters using Karin markers. I am using colors from their December color palette, Burgundy 075, Fire Red 092, Apple 210 and Olive Green 281. I colored the word 'merry' with the Burgundy on the top portion of the letter, and the Fire Red on the bottom portion of the letter. Using a water brush, I blended both pigments on the center of the letter. I repeated the same process on the word "Christmas' using Olive Green on the top portion of the letters and Apple on the bottom. I heat set this to speed up the drying. I carefully erased the pencil lines. Using an extra fine tip black gel pen, I added the outlines to the letters. The word merry is slightly off center so I added a Christmas tree using a Hero Arts stamp. Something I have discovered with the Karin markers is that I can actually use it to add pigment direct to the stamp. This made the coloring of this small tree with different colors so easy.

Creating this panel into a card, I pulled out from my craft stash a Martha Stewart Poinsettia edger punch and some clear adhesive jewels that you cut apart with a craft knife. Do you still remember these jewels?

I cut two pieces of 5 1/2" x 3/4" green cardstock. I punched this with the edger punch. I also punch a red pearl cardstock but strategically positioning it on the poinsettia so I can piece this on the punched border.

I adhered the borders to the top and bottom of the panel with foam adhesive. I cut small pieces of foam so I can slip it under the border showing through the open poinsettia. I squirted a dot of glue on these foam adhesives and then pieced in the red pearl punched poinsettia. I added the jewels to the centers of the poinsettia, squirting glue first for better adhesion of the jewels.

I enjoyed creating my own artful sentiment. Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed, brilliant and creative day! Merry Christmas everyone!
