Letter Board Birthday Card

 

This card was created for my 6-year old son's friend (as per my son's request), and to join Sugar Pea Designs blog challenge.

I am using the Sugar Pea Designs Message Letter Board die. I die cut a red felt. I have to add a metal shim to be able to cut the felt with the board die. I die cut the letters using a 110lb Bazzil Taffy cardstock. I die cut the letters a couple of times to complete the message, and at the same time, stack them on top of each other to create a chipboard-like letter embellishment. I die cut all the letters. I did not want to separate the letter dies apart for fear of losing a letter of the alphabet. I kept the extra die cut letters in a storage box for future use. 

I adhered the letters on the message board with liquid adhesive. I applied an acrylic block on top of the letters while the glue is drying. A glue gun will be the best adhesive for felt but with the intricate letters, a glue gun will be a hot mess for me. Thankfully, the liquid adhesive worked.

I heat embossed a balloon from SP Birthday Balloons on a cream cardstock. I used Wow! Gold Pearl embossing powder. I don't have the matching die for this stamp (I wish I did!), so I fussy cut the image. I tied a gold DMC floss to the balloon which is the most challenging step for me in this card. The bow would not stay still despite applying liquid adhesive to the floss! After I got this done, I taped the tip of the gold floss to the back of the balloon. I adhered the balloon to the letter board using foam adhesive. I adhered the gold floss to the felt. I added star sequins to tie up with the balloon design.

I adhered the letter board to a top folding A2 white note card with a fun foam on the back of the letter board for additional dimension. I colored the letters with Spetrum Noir clear shimmer pen, then I added Nuvo Periwinkle Jewel Drops to the letters for added dimension.

Shaped Wreath Tag

 

Hello! I am late in posting this creation as part of Incy Wincy Design Challenge on Tag. I have been sick since Sunday. I am progressing well but still have episodes of being weak.

Our sponsor for our challenge is Sparkle N Sprinkle. I printed the image on Ranger watercolor cardstock. I colored the image using Zig Clean Color brush pens. I fussy cut the image leaving a small border around the images. I also cut off the center to create a window. I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the flowers. After this has dried, I added Pretty Pink Posh Buttercream jewels to the flower centers. I created a bow using a satin ribbon. This step took up most of my time in creating this tag. Otherwise, I think this tag would have been done in a jiffy. But I can't let go of the design I have in mind to make the bow 3D. So after multiple tries and technique changes, I was finally able to create one. Whew! I did not know that creating a wreath bow can be this challenging.

For the sentiment, I stamped the Altenew Label Love on a peach cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I cut the label strip leaving a small border around it. I traced the letters using a peach Sakura Gel pen. I adhered this to the front of the wreath with a foam adhesive.

To add the tag hole, I die cut an acetate using Avery Elle A Tag For All Elle-ments. I adhered this to the back of the wreath with double sided tape. To cover this, I die cut a circle frame using My Favorite Things Circle STAX Die-namics. To make the tag ready for use, I stamped to and from on this circle frame. Both word stamps are from Hero Arts Christmas Tree Color Layering Stamp set. I adhered this circle frame to the back of the wreath. I added a twine to the tag hole.

Valentine's Treat 2019

Happy Valentine's, everyone! Just stopping by for a short post. I created these for my First Grader's Valentine's to his classmates. He prefers the unicorn but he does not think the boys would like it, so he chose dinosaurs for the boys. 

This unicorn Valentine's card was created using Pink Fresh Studio Magical Unicorn stamp and die sets. I changed the flowers into a heart to make it Valentine-themed. The sentiment was chosen by my son and it is from Pretty Pink Posh Friends Forever stamp set. 

The dinosaur was cut using the Cricut Explore, cutting it in four layers of different colored cardstocks. I added details to the die cut. The heart is cut using Lawn Fawn Stitched Heart Stackables. I used the same sentiment stamp.

Pebbles Freebie Sloth Printable

Isn't this sloth cute? The printable image is a freebie from Pebbles. Just go to the video description of their video on Valentine's Box. It mentions how to request for the free printable image.

I resized the sloth so I can adhere a 3"x4" cut apart journaling card. After cutting the image, I inked the edges of the sloth with a Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink to cover the white core of the paper. 

I die cut the journaling card using a Mama Elephant stitched die from ME Peek-A-Frame Creative Cuts. The journaling card is from an old cut-apart Pebbles Patterned paper. I followed the directions on where to apply glue on the body of the sloth. I then adhered the sloth's head. I die cut another journaling card from the same patterned paper with the B side on top. The B side of this patterned paper has a to and from print making this patterned paper an easy cut-apart Valentine's. I adhered this to the back of the other journaling card giving it a finished look. 

I added Ranger Black Enamel Accents to the sloth's eyes and nose. I traced the lettering on the journaling card with Sakura Clear Glitter pen. I also used a Sakura Black Enamel pen for the owl's eyes.

Non-Traditional Colors for a Girl Themed Card

Hello! It is time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Design Challenge Blog. Our challenge title is Make It Girly. I am using an image from one of our sponsors, Little Blue Button Stamps.

The first thing that comes to my mind if I need to make something girly is pink, purple and flowers. I decided to go away from this girl concept of mine, and be non-traditional. I am using the green for my color scheme, and hearts for embellishment.

I printed the image on Arches Cold Press Watercolor paper. I colored the image using Stampin' Up Watercolor Pencils and Gansai Tambi watercolor. I fussy cut the image leaving a small white border around it. I added Ranger Glossy Accents to the crown, then set this aside to dry.

I am using three shades of green Paper Source cardstock (Jade, Peacock and Mint) cut at 4 1/4"x 5 1/2". I repeatedly die cut a retired My Favorite Things Fluttering Hearts die to the panel. I trimmed 1/4" off the edges. I die cut the sentiment using Pretty Pink Posh Hello Friend die. I die cut four of this sentiment. I adhered the sentiment die cuts on top of each other to create a chipboard-like embellishment. I created a sentiment strip by heat embossing a Lawn Fawn Love Letters sentiment on vellum using white embossing powder.

Assembling the card, I adhered the heart die cut panel to one of the green cardstocks. I adhered the sentiment strip and the stacked die cut sentiment. I adhered the image using foam adhesive.

I just bought this heart sequins at Target and luckily, it fits perfectly on the negative heart spaces of the die cut panel. I scattered a few of these hearts on the panel. I adhered a Martha Stewart Heart Glitter on top of the red heart to mute down its red color.

Stencil Digital Image and Spinner Surprise Card

We have a brand new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs. We are featuring the Pantone Color of the Year, Living Coral. I am using an image from one of our challenge sponsors, SheepSkiDesigns. 

I created a stencil using the Cricut Design Space and the ballerina image. I heat embossed a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Day stamp set and Altenew Golden Peach embossing powder. I adhered the negative cut stencil. I ink blended three shades of coral toned dye inks to the open space to create the ballerina silhouette. I then adhered the positive stencil cut to cover the inked area. I blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Abandoned Coral to the bottom left of the panel to make the embossed sentiment pop up. I splattered Prima Color Blooms Tea Stain to the panel. I set this to dry.

I die cut three panels of coral cardstock using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangles. I heat embossed a sentiment on one of these panels using a sentiment stamp from Hero Arts All Occasion Messages. I also used the same Altenew powder for this. I adhered this panel to a top folding white A2 note card. I also adhered one of the panels to the inner top fold of the note card. I poked a hole on the center of both top and bottom folds. I pass a thread through these holes, securing it with a double adhesive tape on the opposite side. 

I printed the digital image using the CDS as well although I had troubles cutting the file this time. My needle got blunt too quick. I guess I have been using it a lot lately and/or I bought the lesser priced needle which does not guarantee many cuts as the Premium one. So I fussy cut the image leaving a small white border around it. The mirror images matched closed enough after cutting it. The white border also masked areas that not match.

I applied liquid glue and positioned this to the thread, adhering the mirror image to the back. Practice closing the card while the glue is still wet to see if there are any problems with the mechanism. 

Now, adhere the front and back panels of the card to cover the end of the thread. I also used the left over negative die cut rectangle as a frame to the front panel.

Challenge #22~Something New/Old

Spinner X-Card

Hello! It is time for a new challenge at Incy Wincy Designs Challenge Blog. Our challenge is on Quotes or Sayings. Our sponsor is Beccy's Place.

It is my sister's birthday month. I was looking through the freebie images in Beccy's Place but could not find an image suitable for her. So I used her favorite violet/lavender color as the color motif of this card.

When I saw this carousel image, it is just fit to make something interactive with it. I remembered watching an X-Card tutorial before but I could not find it anymore. I saw images of this card in Pinterest but no tutorial until I came across Lori Whitlock's video tutorial featuring this cut in her web store. I was going to do my own version of her card, do it from scratch, but she had a New Year sale in her digital store. It was a perfect opportunity to try out her digital images.

I downloaded the A2 X-Card digital cut to the Cricut Design Space. I also downloaded the carousel image to CDS. I re-sized the carousel to fit the circle window in the A2 X-Card. I duplicated the image and flipped it vertically. I printed the carousels using the Canon ts9512C printer. I colored the images first before cutting it with the Cricut. The images are small, some vision exercise for me. I used Prismacolor color pencils. I did not need too much shading since the image is small.

One feature that I like about the CDS is that it allows you to print now then cut later. I am glad I used this function. The image was very delicate that most likely I would have ripped it if I colored it after it got cut. I added details to the carousels with gel pens and Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen. I was careful in adding shimmer to the image because it reactivates the water-based ink of the print out.

I used a violet cardstock and patterned paper for the X-card base. I heat embossed the Simon Says Stamp Circle Sayings on a violet cardstock with SSS Rose Gold embossing powder. I die cut this to create a circle frame using My Favorite Things Circle Stax die. I have the coordinating die for the SSS Circle Sayings but somehow I could not find the right sized circle to create the frame.

Assembling the card, I adhered the patterned paper to the cardstock. I used a liquid adhesive to give me enough wiggle time. I placed something heavy on top of it while the glue dries. I then adhered the circle embossed frames.

The digital cut comes with a tick mark for scoring. I changed this cuts to score marks using CDS but somehow, it still created the cuts. I reinforced this cuts by scoring it. I adhered a strong double adhesive tape on the top and bottom of the circle window in the first panel. I adhered a thin thread to this. From here, I started building the X-Card, adhering half of the panel to each other until I completed the X-Card.

I applied liquid glue to the back of the carousels then adhered this to the string. I applied something heavy to this while the glue dries.

This card lays flat for mailing. No real space for a handwritten sentiment but may a to and from in one of the panels will make this personalized.

Since the Incy Wincy Designs Challenge is about Quotes or Sayings, I added a sentiment flag to tie up with the theme. I heat embossed a sentiment from Mama Elephant Everyday Greetings stamp set on vellum with white embossing powder. I colored the backside of the vellum with a violet Copic marker to tie in with the color theme. I also colored a toothpick with a different shade of a violet Copic marker. I also added shimmer to the toothpick with Spectrum Noir Clear Shimmer pen. I adhered the toothpick to the back of the vellum with Kool Tak Clear Foam adhesive tape. I punched the edge with a square punch to create the fish tail.
