Cityscape Card

The card I made for The Cutting Edge Challenge is based on the upper left corner card. I used the Cricut Cartridge Going Places to cut the cityscape and the sun. I cut the cityscape three times using different shades of gray card stock. I manually cut strips from scraps of yellow and blue card stocks to cover the windows of the buildings. The image didn't come with a solid cityscape. At first, I traced the image on a piece of card stock but stopped as I was fuzzy cutting it. I don't think I'll come up with a perfect match. So I trimmed strips of card stocks to cover the windows.

The next thing I worked on is the background. I want it to have a shading effect. I used the mini ink blender tool to blend four different colors of ink.

I cut the sun on a yellow vellum using the same Cricut cartridge. I stamped a smiley face on the sun and heat embossed it. I embellished the sun further using yellow transparent sequins.

For the sentiment, I punched a black card stock using Fiskars border punch. I stamped the sentiment and heat embossed it using white powder.

Now I am ready to assemble my card. Using a black card stock for card base, I adhered my ink blended panel to it. I adhered foam tape on the cityscapes. I doubled up the foam tape on the bottom of the second layer, and tripled the foam tape for the front layer to make it balanced. I adhered the sun. Some of the foam tapes kept the sun in place but I applied Glossy Accents to the back where the sequins will cover it to keep the sun secured. I adhered the sentiment strip to the uppermost cityscape.
